A different shop caused traumatic transmission damage. After running some tests the team found me an option almost half the price of other shops for a practically brand new transmission to replace mine. Runs great and was willing to work with me when I didn’t have all the money at one time.

Let me tell you what. My experience with Transmissions America was phenomenal and seriously, Eric and John were there helping me each step of the way. They both did everything in their power to help get me back on the road, plus they let me keep my Nissan on their premises without charging me a storage fee!!! You see, I was purchasing a house and couldnt accrue any debt because the lenders dont like that type of thing. I was going to finance the transmission after a down payment. They were both professional and kind and it really meant a lot to me because they really cared! Thank you sooo much for getting my car back on the road so that I can feel normal again! Great people to deal with and the mechanics does excellent work. I live in Callaway and its worth the drive for them to repair my vehicles. I had a Ford truck that no one could seem to fix and I gave it to my daughter after putting a lot of money in it from other mechanics but I sent it to them for transmission repair and they figured out there was more problems than just that and its running like a Ford should. Thanks to Trans Mission of America I will highly recommend them to anyone.

I had the car towed into transmissions America. Eric was able to quickly diagnose the problem and replaced the battery and alternator. The repairs were done in one day. Every time Ive needed to take my car in, they have been able to work on it quickly and explain what is needed and why.

They are really professional and their communication is stellar! I dont have to call them 50 times like the other guys, they call me. Had some issues with my transmission but they took it right in and covered it with the warranty they gave me. They apologized for the inconvenience but they have already saved me plenty of time and headache, so it was no big deal.

Our family was very pleased with the complete transmission rebuild which was performed by Transmission America earlier this year. Ive waited 6 months to post this review just to ensure that everything stayed in place and continued to work as promised. And it has!Eric does a terrific job of quoting the service options and was even gracious enough to walk me though the shop - showing me step-by-step how they test parts and rebuild components.I was especially encouraged by the way they keep every unit together from start to finish. There are no mismatched/jumbled parts strewn around the shop floor.Eric kept me abreast of the process as they were working on it and John made sure everything was working properly before sending out the door to me. After driving it several thousand miles now, I can tell you that I am one happy camper! And I recommend this place for your transmission needs.

Had a lil problem w the work that was initially done but I wanted to get rid of the car they worked on anyway so they allowed me to trade it in to them for the warranty I had on transmission so that I get a newer car I wanted that was on there lot. So far we r very pleased and must admit the did the right thing.

Just picked up my car. Super pleased! The service was great. Oil pan gasket leak fixed and main seal as well as the original problem of internal transmission seals replaced. I shopped around. My usual mechanic said he didnt want to beat their price. And that was for just the transmission work. A pleasure to be work with!

Very knowledgeable of cars. They gave me a deal when I took my car in for an Alternator change. Turned out that I just needed some wires replaced and that my alternator was in almost perfect condition. They left the price as the same as they quoted me and were incredibly nice, especially Eric who was the main person I talked to; he helped me understand what was being said as I am a bit ignorant towards cars.All in all it was a great experience and any car troubles I have will be brought to them whenever I have something beyond my power to deal with, also before I go an buy a part that turns out I don’t need. I saved over $300 coming to them before attempting to deal with it myself.

Wonderful, family-owned, business that does great service!I was driving from Georgia, and my car broke down suddenly on I-81 at night while I was driving on a road trip. As my car is a Saab and cannot be taken to just any place to be fixed, I had to search for someone who could do the special service on it.I spoke with Eric on the phone who was great in communicating with me to have it towed to his shop (as the place my car was towed to late at night could not fix my car), to have it looked at as soon as possible, and to fix it. He even did his best to save us from the cost of a rental car (which we still needed, but we picked up my car on the way back).I, as an out of state traveller who needed emergency service, am extremely grateful that he was willing to do whatever it took to help us. Luckily the repair to my car was one that was quick and not expensive, but if it had been, then I would have been more than fine with allowing him to handle all of it as Eric was very trustworthy and communicated with me every step of the way.I highly recommend him and his business. 10/10 would use again if the same thing happened.

Great work at a fair price. I know that not everyone can attain complete satisfaction with their issue, but i had a good experience. Eric (General Manager) will give an honest evaluation and the analysis will target the the work that needs to be accomplished. We all expect instant gratification but sometimes the problem can be more involved, so don t always expect the work to be done overnight in all cases. Allow enough time for the work to be done in its entirety. The transmission issue took about 10 days and the 1993 Buick runs great, thanks to their work. Transmission America will stand by the work and you will be satisfied with the results.

So I just need to sing my praises about Transmission America! They have done great things for us twice. The first time, they replaced my transmission and worked so hard to find one within our budget. This time, firestone wanted to charge us $900 for a repair and we took it to transmission America and free of charge they looked at it and found that nothing was wrong with my car. Firestone was just trying to get money from us.They are very honest and extremely kind. They take time to compare prices and explain everything. They are also family owned.

This shop and Manager Eric exceeded my expectations. I found them to be very honest and professional. As a woman, it can be hard to trust you are getting both what you truly need and are paying for, they could have taken advantage of my situation, but instead I got excellent customer service and advice. I highly recommended this shop.

The owner will go out of his way to help you out. Even with an older model car, just getting more life out of it. A place where a solid handshake still means something.It may take a bit longer, but I didnt have to worry that they were finding unicorns to run up the bill.

My experience was pretty good with these guys. I tend to do all the work on my cars, but I did not have the means to change the clutch on my BMW. I wanted to buy specific parts to install and these guys were one of the few shops that would quote me straight labor for installing the parts I supplied. Took a bit longer than they thought, perhaps maybe they dont do very many BMWs. I am very persnickety about my cars and the work done on them, and I think they overall did a very nice job. I found the owner to be easy to work with and provided good communication.

I was about to buy a new car and was told that I needed a new clutch. I decided to verify that so I did a google search and found Transmissions America. I called and spoke to John and asked for an estimate for replacing the clutch. He gave me an estimate for the labor and then looked up the part costs. He suggested that I come in for a free test drive, which I did. I rode with him during the test drive. He said the clutch wasnt slipping, so possibly I didnt need a new one right away. The clutch was coming out a long way before it caught. I have driven the car for over 11 years and had not noticed anything. We got to talking, and I dont remember exactly what it was that he said, but I asked him if he wanted to buy my car, and he did. I came back later that day and sold it to him. One of his staff members drove me home. John and staff are very friendly and seem very honest. One of the staff looked under the hood (before the test drive) and pointed out to me that the car was leaking antifreeze. He then checked the radiator and it was empty. This was surprising, as I had an oil change done on the car just over two months ago. The staff member added an antifreeze/water mix to the radiator. The shop seems thorough and the staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who needs major repair work done to their cars.P.S. John offered me $300.00 more than the dealer had offered me for my trade-in. I was happy with the deal.

I have a 1991 Ford F-150. My Dad purchased it used in 2012, and it has had NOTHING but issues. The check engine light would NEVER stay off. So, over the years, he and my Mom took it to several mechanics, had numerous amounts of work done to it, and spent TONS of money....not fixed. It seemed that NO ONE could get the check engine light off, and the truck always had to go into the shop. So, they decided to give it to me, (as I had begged them for it since they got it). Transmission had issues, so my Mom called Transmissions America, and they got it in immediately, and got me going with an AWESOME transmission, with little time and money involved! Great job guys!So, I had my truck running ok (never was the best since purchased), then, it broke down again! Ok, so after several mechanics and a lot of money, it still was messed up. My Mom called Transmissions America, and Eric said to bring it in and he would fix it. Well, it turned out to be a headache, and VERY time-consuming, and it was so messed up that their computer wouldnt even read it! But, they didnt give up!!! I cant even begin to explain how much time that Eric and ALL the mechanics spent trying to figure out what was wrong with my truck. They dont like guessing or just throwing parts on there and costing you money, which is what I absolutely LOVE about them! Eric was in constant communication with my Mom and I telling us what problems they found, what they fixed, what else needed fixed, and what was previously fixed, but either botched, broken, or fixed with junkyard parts. So, after a few weeks, and a lot of frustration for the guys at Transmissions America, they were happy (and I think relieved) to tell me that my truck was ready!!!! Yay! They pretty much replaced EVERYTHING that was previously worked on over the years, plus other things that had never been replaced, and they even got the check engine light off - for the 1st time ever, the light was OFF! The price was not even one-fifth of what we have paid everywhere else, and that is AMAZING! I have now driven my truck daily since I got it fixed, and Im happy to report that everything is GREAT! No check engine light, it purrs like a kitten (always had a miss or two in it), no jumping, hesitation, leaks, spits, sputters....NOTHING!!!!So, if you ever have car trouble of ANY kind, I HIGHLY recommend the guys at Transmission of America to do the work! They did the impossible with my truck...NO ONE could fix My Big Red. So, they definitely have all of our business, my familys, friends, and EVERYONE I can recommend. Do not take you vehicle ANYWHERE else and get had! They are very nice, caring, and they treat you like family. Eric was AWESOME throughout this trying time. Had the transmission replaced and In under 10k miles a axle seal started leaking. They fixed it and now 4k miles later its leaking again. I should have know better because they rebuilt my grandfathers transmission and it lost over drive in only a week. I should have known better but I thought i would give them a chance.

While my wife and i were on vacation with a new used car we purchased. We were driving through Ranoke and all of a sudden we went from 40 mph to neutral. 700 miles away and stuck, had the towed into Transmission America. Spoke with Eric and was very impressed with his professionalism. Had the trans rebuilt and was back on my way to enjoy the rest of the vacation. Thank you again for all of your help. My car broke down, transmission failure, on July 4th weekend and was towed to the nearest dealer in Roanoke. The dealer took several days to look at it and quoted approx $4k to replace the trans. A simple phone call to Eric at T.A. and I was quoted less than half the price for a slightly used trans. As soon as the part was delivered, they fixed me up in less than a day. No extra hidden charges and totally excellent customer service. This place is a Roanoke jewel compared to the others. I wouldnt hesitate to do all my transmission work with them.

Exceptional, High Quality Service.Had my vehicle towed to Trans-Am from my auto dealership to have the Transmission replaced. Dealership wanted $8k for the transmission, Trans-Am replace for half that at $4k. Had already paid the dealership $1.5k to replace a gear shift selector. Somehow selecter was disassembled while at dealership. The dealership wanted me to purchase this part again after one of their technicians was unable to reassemble the part. Trans-Am rebuilt the gear shift selector I had already purchased for only $400.00.My advice, if youre looking forprice gauldging parts installerscontinue to visit dealerships.Trans-Am is where you want to go if youre looking for Great American Mechanics who believe in fairness and honesty.

I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S with an automatic transmission. My trans. started slipping a few months ago so I took it to the dealer where they put a new wiring harness on the car for $1800.00. No change. Then the dealer said they could change the transmission control module for $2500.00 but he did not know if that would fix the car. The only other alternative would be a new transmission for $11000.00 All this on a car that has 162000 miles. RIGHT. I kept driving the car until, you guessed it, the transmission failed. I checked around online and found Eric and Transmissions America. I called and talked to Eric and found him to be incredibly knowledgeable about my Mini. Ith costs could be staggering. BUT, he had a plan. Eric located a used transmission while I had the car towed to Transmissions America. Eric went through it and made sure it was a good unit. Then he and his staff worked there magic and replaced my transmission. There were a few bumps along the way, rusty bolts that needed to be replaced. And a front axle that would not come out got replaced. Throughout these bumps, Eric was on the phone to me explaining every issue and resolving them. I now have a great shifting Mini and Im not worried about any transmission problems. I feel bad that I cant give Transmissions America a higher rating than 5 stars. These folks are great and I highly recommend them.

I had an issue with another business in town that just wanted to take the easy way out and replace the transmission without properly diagnosing what was wrong and working through the issue. Eric, Brandon and Junior jumped right on to working with my vehicle and kept me notified every step of the way. They started with the most basic steps based on my problem and found the issue right off. Was able to correct the problem without having to do a total transmission swap. This took my price from several thousand dollars to a couple hundred. They found and fixed my problem in a couple hours, when the other bigger place had my truck for four days now with hardly even anyone looking at it and certainly no one communicating with me. I will MOST DEFINITELY use TA again, even though I hope I dont need to. They are honest, hard working and just generally good people. Tell your friends about these guys.

I called in because my transmission light in my car had been on intermittently and I was hoping to get someone to take a look at things for me. The man I spoke with, I didnt get his name unfortunately, was very pushy and rude. He kept asking me what kind of pump I have and if its external or internal and which side of the engine its on.... being that I am not a mechanic I have no clue what the answer to any of that was, but he kept asking me over and over about it which made me feel extremely stupid. Then when I said I was unsure, he told me that problem would require my transmission to be re-built and I should start looking for refurbished parts.Update- Took my car elsewhere and they fixed the problem over night. Just needed a solenoid replaced like I thought.

Sept 2016---My 93 Honda was pulling out (stuck) in high gear. Technician John ran diagnostic and double checks to confirm TCM fail. Over the course of checking, ordering part, etc. I was given his cell/work number , as all this took a bit of time, considering the problem and part needed, and found him to be very knowledgeable, providing explanations to all my questions and relaying info to me as needed.. I feel sure I would be taken care of if I needed them again. When I picked up my car , I felt like I had made some friends. Eric, the manager was great as well. Thanks guys!

I cannot say enough bad things about this transmission shop as I was forced by my auto insurance to have it towed here, I wish I had read the other reviews.Transmission America is:1) Dishonest. They told me one quote and ended up changing it by $200 when I paid. They said it would take 1-2 weeks and it took over 3. Additionally, when I spoke to the mechanic, he mentioned that they had broken a part but that I would have to pay for it. When I tried to address that, they said, It was going to break anyway and its not our fault. Then, when I asked why they hadnt told me about the part they broke, the man at the front said he didnt know I needed that part until that day and said, We didnt want to call you at 7 a.m. OK? Very, very rude and dishonest.2) Unprofessional. When I would call to ask about the status of my car, they were completely rude that I was concerned about the additional cost. They told me I had lied about the original estimate because, they would never give a cost like that.3) Sloppy. Though my car is holding up now, when I was communicating with them, they kept playing the blame game about why my car wasnt finished or why they couldnt get their mechanics to work on it.Please seek out a more reputable shop to take your car to.

I was having trouble with my VW Jetta Tdi and I took it to a “German repair shop” in the valley and they said they couldn’t help me out. My transmission had 245,000 miles on it and was starting to slip and have troubles shifting and made me worried to drive it.Eric was so nice and helpful and gave me a fair estimate and told me my car would be down for about 2-3 weeks and it was done in less than a week! Awesome! He was a LOT cheaper than the dealership! He called me and kept me updated on the progress and helped me with financial issues with paying and suggestions for getting my bank to release the funds. He sold me everything at his cost and my car drives great now!He impressed me with his customer service and made me feel like I was back in a small town. My car shifts like never before and my car runs better than it ever has! Highly recommend this shop and ask for Eric!
