This is the WORST place ever! They are way over price! they want from one excuse to another trying to justify their pricing. They said I needed 4 tires, I bought only 2.. they said needed brakes to pass inspection and said the price was high because they needed a special tool for the calibers, when I asked if that meant that they can do the breaks today, they said No! We can because we all have the tool, then I ask again l, then why is the break job is so expensive? They said because it call for an hour to do the job. I ask if that included the tires being off since they are being replaced. They said it doesn’t matter cause it calls for an hour, then i said it’s too expensive, just rejected 🙅🏻‍♀️ then he said well I can save you some money by going with the $40 pad instead of the $70. They still charge for an hour of labor when the tires are already off the vehicle which I thought was kinda shady, the tear in the wiper blade that they said failed inspection so unless the inspection book has changed since I last did inspection that shouldn’t fail, I know these guys are just doing their job, but I wouldn’t recommend doing your inspection me here as this screams money grab, it cost like a one month mortgage 🤦🏻‍♀️💸 IMHO it’s a money grab If I could give 0 star I will do it. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all 😡

I took my car to get inspected on October 29th, 2021. The Mechanic informed me that my car will not pass inspection because rust on the frame, bumper and that you could put your finger through it. He said it would cost more to fix it than the car is worth.The Mechanic also told me I should junk my car and dont drive it. I took my car to get a 2nd opinion. The only reason my car should have FAILED inspection is because the Rear End Brake Cable was broke. My car is everywhere good with minimal rust underneath. My question is, Why would he tell me to junk my car.?

They tried to exaggerate a problem to be way worse than it actually was, we went and looked at it. It was not a grossly overpriced $900 emergency like they made it out to be. $125 an hour for labor? Thought that was a bit high too.

Avoid at all costs, they will charge 25$ plus parts for a bad bulb during inspection. THERES ALWAYS A BAD BULB. This is thievery. Other local shops wont hit you with the full labor rate for a 2 minute bulb change. Never coming here again and will campaign feverishly to make sure other people know these people are stealing from their customers.

Beware! Had a nail in the center of tire and they told my wife it came out the sidewall and couldnt be fixed. She was smart and kept the tire. Telling her to buy another tire. Made a sell off her. Took the tire back and they fixed it the next day. Didnt even take it off the car to make sure. What a rip off. Beware! Oh they said they were sorry. Yes they areSORRY!

They did a good job fixing my car but upped the price on me 3 times from originally quoted price. Went from 534 to 900 by the end of the day..

This place tried to run some game on me and take advantage of me for being a female. I brought my practically brand new car there for them to check a tire and put air in it. The guy told me there is a nail in my tire which they cannot patch, therefor I will need to purchase a new set of tire due to the vehicle being an AWD system and told me I could get their credit card as if I would purchase a set of tires from them.I am aware that if its too close to the tread, it cant be repaired. The next day, my dad took the car to Thompson Tire on Williamson Road where they repaired the tire without any problems. NTB I will not be purchasing tires from you ever nor will I get you to repair a tire!

They give you a diagnosis and a price, you send it to repair and it doesnt look good and they charge you more money

I needed some help getting the right size tires for a used car I had just bought. The manager I spoke with was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He gave me all the information I needed and I did not feel taken advantage of by the price. Tire installation was speedy and I was on my way! I would recommend this location to friends/family.

Rudest customer service that I have ever had in my entire life. Came back an hour after my scheduled oil change to a car that hadn’t even been pulled into the garage yet. When I asserted that was simply ridiculous I was met with total sarcasm. The valley view location is simply horrid. Taking my car elsewhere and will not be back.

I have been using this garage for all of my vehicle maintenance since winter 2018. Scott, Steve, and Curtis are always courteous and friendly. I recently took my Mother’s vehicle here last Saturday and they once again impressed me. They all were wearing face coverings and I watched them disinfect the door twice while I waited. I am so very happy they are open during these crazy times.

This is the worst car shop in Roanoke. I was a repeat customer for years and always gave them my business. I stopped in about patching a hole in a flat tire (which would take any mechanic 5 minutes) and they rudely brushed me off and told me I would have to wait a few hours. I then asked why and the customer servicer rep proceeded to yell at me so I left. (I went down the road to Mr. Tire and they proceeded to gladly patch my tire in 5 minutes and was very nice and kind given the situation.) If you value an honest business and truthfulness, NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO NTB. I took my car there in the past and they would claim different stuff was wrong, so I would go get a 2nd opinion and nothing was wrong. They are not honest and they do not know how to treat customers. I HIGHLY recommend going to a shop that will value your business and not yell and scream at their customers. 0/10. Will never go back.

I was looking for a shop that did Virginia State Inspections on a Sunday in Roanoke and was really having a difficult experience until I called NTB by the mall. Curtis answered the phone and told me that although they do not schedule appointments for the inspection, come in and we will get your car serviced. I brought my daughter’s car by and was in and out in about an hour. A very pleasant and well mannered lady named Teresa took care of me. They were not busy at all while I was there early Sunday morning. My family and I will be using them in the future for our vehicle repairs. I always thought they just installed tires and batteries since that was their name but they have a full service garage that does almost any repair and maintenance your car could need. Thank you guys for being open and providing service when most places are closed or have limited services available on Sundays.

I was on my way back to New Jersey after my vacation from Smoky Mountain and stayed in Sheraton Roanoke on Saturday Night. Next morning I noticed flat tire of my car, since it was Sunday so it was little tight to find options to get it fixed. I called AAA to replace it with spare and in parallel find Merchants Tire Shop address with help of Google.These guys did a great and QUICK job to get my car tire replaced as puncture was not repairable. I was able to out from this shop within 45 minutes, they really did a fast puncture check, followed by tire replacement. Because of their fast and good service I managed to reach NJ on time.... Kudos to Team !!

Wish I could give them 0 stars, but unfortunately thats not an option. Came in to get new tires. Thats it. Just tires. Thought everything was fine when I picked up the car until I got home and noticed antifreeze pouring from my vehicle. Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt until I called and spoke to a manager who was so rude; it left me with a horrible impression on how they run their business. They just want money from you and will find a way to mess up your car so you come back. Well, too bad for them because I will never go back here and will make sure no one else does as well. I HIGHLY recommend taking your car ANYWHERE else. Firestone isnt too far from their location and I havent had any issues going there. Should have taken my car there from the beginning which I regret, but lesson learned. DONT GO TO NTB!

I went to NTB today to have new tires installed, an oil change and windshield wipers. Turns out I needed an alignment done my car too. That makes me feel really good to know someone is looking after me to keep me safe. I would recommend them to anyone who needs any car maintenance done for their safety.

I went to get a tune up but that’s not what I needed. Steve drove it around to see what he thought it was, he was really nice and helpful. It end up being my motor mount, they got the piece and fixed it :) now my car drives so much better!

TERESA WORKED WITH ME AT THE FRONT DESK AND SHE GOT MY MILAGE THEN THEY TOOK MY CAR RIGHT BACK. TOLD ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS TOOK CARE OF IT AND I SHORTLY ON MY WAY. I MUST SAY THEY WERE THE NICEST PEOPLE AND TERESA WAS THE SWEETEST.

Took about the usual time 1 hr for oil change and tire rotation and balance. Even took the time to check a staling issue that I was having. However, both front tires registered low because the need to be at 38psi..... they should have filled the tires up to specs.... but other than that. Not bad.

Been a life long customer until now. Not sure what has happened to the shop recently, but something has changed. Never had any issues until today. Spent well over 2 hours waiting for an oil change after I had one schedule. Was on time (even 10 mins early) and still waited forever. I get it, the shop is busy, you can get behind, but for me to wait 2 and a half hours for a simple oil change after I had one scheduled for over a week is absolutely ridiculous. While I was waiting, they told me that I needed a new battery (which I knew couldn’t be right because I had just gotten a new battery not even a month ago), so I told them not to worry about replacing it. After finally getting my vehicle back, I got in the car to start it and it wouldn’t start. I have never had problems starting my car before taking it in, and now all of the sudden my car won’t start after an oil change? Very suspicious on their part. Will be taking my business somewhere else for future work.

Nothing but GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!I pulled up from out of town with a slow leak in my tire. They were closed but came out to check it for me anyways. Didnt take long to figure out I needed to replace my valve stem. They pulled my car in stayed later with no hesitation and fixed it so my children and I were safe and back on the road. They went above and beyond and Im grateful. Thank you again Chris (the manager)

I was there in November. Had a kind of brake emergency, they were suddenly grinding and had to be replaced right away. I was at the mall and didnt want to drive far so went in there. They were able to take the vehicle right in. However, because I was a female, with my children, clearly clueless about brake work and this repair, they took MAJOR advantage of me. They charged me $409 for back brakes and rotors. I just had my front ones done at a small garage in Vinton for $250 total. They knew I was in a bit of an emergency situation and also knew I was clueless. Until I had the front done today I didnt know how much they took advantage of me at NTB. I didnt know I had options of brake pad choices or rotor choices, they never offered that. Im sure they just slapped on the most expensive thing because they knew I was distressed and didnt know to ask. Shame on you NTB! Beware if youre a single female and dont know what questions to ask!!!

Can’t even give this place a 1 rating because they wouldn’t even service my son. He was on his way to Norfolk and had an emergency. Came back to Roanoke as his wife had called. Granted, it was close to 5:00 but they told them we close at 5:00. My son walked out and was swapping cars with his wife when the “employees “ left before 5:00. Way to run a business. Thanks for nothing.

Had a very negative experience while interacting with the service department, specifically the service manager. Scheduled an appointment for 2pm on a Saturday and was told during the scheduling process that the inspection couldnt be scheduled and to drop it off a bit early so that could be done before my appointment. I dropped the vehicle off at 1pm for an oil change, tire rotation, and inspection, and to ENSURE AMPLE time I told them I would pick it up first thing on Sunday. The employee thanked me for giving them ample time and that it would be done Saturday so I could pick it up when they opened. When I went to pick the vehicle up at 9:30 Sunday morning, I was told that it wasnt ready, nor would it be until close to noon because other appointments Sunday morning preceeded my walk in. I asked why it was not completed yesterday and was told that inspections void appointments. This was NEVER told to me prior to Sunday, even though I spoke with multiple people on the phone to get the appointment scheduled and made sure to include the inspection. The service manager finally just said it wasnt done yesterday. You can come back for it later. The only apology I received was a sorry my technician didnt call you, theres nothing I can do about it. All the while, both he and the other employee were scoffing at my frustration and refusing to answer questions with anything other than thats just how it works. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told I am the service manager. Are you going to leave it or go?

Chris Jackson did a fabulous job with helping me with tires and other services. His dependable service over the years is why we will continue to use the Merchants at Valley view mail. We are so happy he is the service manager now. Smart move on Merchant s part.

Great place for oil change

NTB serviced my fleet work truck and got me back on the job quickly. They worked with my schedule and provided fast, professional service. NTB will be my go to in Roanoke,Va.

I went to NTB to get tires, However there werent any tires in the show room so I could see if those were the ones I wanted. The sales team did take me back to the rear to look at the one All Terrain tire they said would fit my truck. As I stated, I came in for tires. I didnt expect a sales or service person to call me and suggest I needed thousands of dollars worth of automotive work or repair. An air cleaner , serpentine belt and other mechanical things that had nothing to do with the tires. Plus before I purchased the tires, I referenced another store closer to me and ask if they had the same hours as that store and that it would be more convenient for me. The response was that they did have the same hours but they didnt have the tires. So I bought their set and brought the pickup back that evening. Just out of curiosity, I called that other store that was closer to my home and ask if they had that particular tire and size that I had purchased. They did. I hate getting lied too. I like the tires and the price was reasonable, not great, and the service, for now, seems to have been fine. But I will probably never set foot in your store again. Nor will I refer any of my friends or relatives. Thanks for the chance to respond about my experience. Hope someone is actually reading these comments. One more thing, when I was trying to pay, I swiped or inserted my card. I said error. The salesmen who was ringing me up ask if it was a debit or credit card. When I told him it was either one that I choose it to be, he stated that it had to be run as debit and that your corporate office or people had told them that it was safer to do it that way. That is and was a complete fabrication. Any bank or credit union will tell you to use it as a credit card when ever possible because it is federally insured by they bank if something is fraudulent. The more you use your pin number, the greater the chance of someone steeling or skimming your number. If the thief gets that pin along with your card number, they could wipe out everything you have and it wouldnt be insured! If you are telling your people this, that needs to stop.

I came here to get a oil change. Once they was done I was told I needed to replace my valve covers on my engine and that oil was pouring out in puddles, which was not true. Two days later my temperature gauge went from normal to hot. I happen to look under my car and antifreeze was pouring out from the bottom of my car. When I got home I check my antifreeze and it was empty. This problem didnt arise until I went to NTB. Beware... The sales person told me he made 10k for the store last week. This means they might be doing something wrong to the cars that come into the shop so you can come back and up the sales. Although I have no proof, something is really wrong at this location. Again Beware. A simple oil change might change into something major.

I am so thankful to this shop and their employees tonight. I blew out my tire tonight at 630pm. I made it to their shop by 730 on a spare. They were so awesome and put a new tire on and got me out of there by 830. Thank you so much for helping me out and for staying late!

Had a pretty terrible experience to be honest. I ordered an oil change then found out the bill was over $70. They did a full synthetic and though my car does require that I’ve always done half because it’s more cost effective for me. On top of it all, when I dropped it off I confirmed it was half and my car sticker said it was half but they tried to charge me for a full synthetic. I appreciate the customer service and help after the fact but that was uncalled for for such a big misunderstanding. From now on I’m going somewhere else because that bit of a mistake, what if something else was done to my car without my knowledge? I won’t be swindled just because I’m a woman, and I do know what my car needs and don’t need to “educated” about it by a man behind a counter. I’ve worked at an auto place so I have knowledge about cars, I chose you guys because I needed an oil change immediately but I won’t be returning.

Do not come here. You will pay more than average and they will charge you for things you dont need. I could never suggest giving them your business but if you do make sure you know exactly what you need before you come because they will come for your pockets and lie to you about things it needs.

I took my car in for an inspection knowing I would probably be there most of the day as I had waited until the last day of the month. There were 5 people ahead of me. Luckily, there were no issues with my car and I was out the door in 2-1/2 hours. Always pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly staff.

It was awesome! I was passing through and noticed my psi on one of my tires going down. I showed up right at closing time with only 21 psi and they were kind enough to find the hole and put my spare on so I could make it to a hotel. I came back the next day and was able to replace the tire so I can continue my trip. Everyone was really nice and professional. If Im ever in the area again, and need assistance I will definately stop here again! Theyre awesome!

Took my car in for the check engine light being on; it was only because the previous service center I took it to hadnt reset the oil change light. When they called to tell me my car ready and what the issue was, I expected to pay some type of service fee. They insisted there was no charge. I plan on using them for all three of my vehicles.

We had made an appointment ahead of time to make sure they had time for us as well as reserving the tires we wanted. We get there and waited in line almost 20 minutes before even being served and then waited 2.5 hours to just put 4 new tires on a plain old Toyota Corolla...

I made an appointment for tires. When I arrived I was told it would be an hour and a half wait. I hang out and 15 minutes after the agreed upon time I asked for an update. Staff say that they have looked over my car and it will be at least another hour! Their excuse was there is lots of things going on and people ahead of me. Then why did I make an appointment? And why not come to me with an update instead of me having to ask? Why not mention this when I checked in? I ended up waiting 3 hours for tires and an alignment.AC is not working in the store and it is extremely warm. I have a young child and would not have stayed had i known the amount of wait time and no AC...

Worst experience Ive ever had. I made an appointment to get 4 new tires and an alignment. First of all it took 4 hours. When they finally called they said they did my state inspection (which I did not ask for, mine was NOT expired) they said my reverse light was out and they were going to charge me $60 to replace it or else they would have to reject my inspection. It was all a fraud, first of all they shouldnt have done an inspection without asking me, and my car will alert me if any of my lights are out, so I know my reverse light wasnt out. I told them to go ahead and reject it and I wanted to see the burnt bulb. When I got there the burnt bulb was fine, and they said they put in a new bulb and it still doesnt work but will pass my inspection. I refused to pay for any of it. I checked everything once I got home, and my reverse light fuse was removed, I guess to cover their story. They also put my inspection sticker on completely crooked, I think it was done on purpose. I will never go back

Quick fast reliable service.

This place is a prime example of what gives repair shops a bad name. I went in for an oil change. The guy told me that I needed over 7K in repairs and that I shouldnt be driving. I said how my car had passed inspection a month before. He said that shop has an idiot who works there and was wrong. He noted my tires were severely off wack and that my alignment was bad. I then showed him receipts where they had been done at that location a few months prior was not talked to after that. Was there over 3 hours due to the techs decided to all take lunch. When I asked what was taking so long as my car was the only one in the bay I was told they were taking breaks and I must wait. VERY unprofessional and will NEVER go here again!!!!

I bought a set of Michelin LTX/MS2 4 years ago. I have 57000 miles on the tires , which are my 4th set, and noticed severe damage to the tread. The damage was not from road hazards but degraded rubber/ craftsmanship. In the past my Michelins produced 90000 mile of good wear. So I thought I would take the tires back to NTB for inspection. I also contacted Michelin and they produced a case file for me to present to NTB. Upon inspection they notified me of a bad shock on the rear of the vehicle and that Michelin would cover $72 towards new tires. Tires that cost $700+ new. I buy new shocks and upon removal of the bad shock, find that there is nothing wrong with any of the shocks. They dampen the way they should and expand fully. The good parts of my experience with NTB , everyone was very nice and they patched a nail hole for free. But the missed diagnosis of the shocks, to me and Michelin , has left me out to dry with factory defects in the tread. I wasnt expecting 4 brand new tires for free , but more than 72 dollars towards new ones. I have purchased my last set of tires from NTB and Michelin. Thanks for your customer service which I think is as degraded as my tires.

Took my mother in laws car there after she hit a curb and bent her rim. I purchased a new rim and took it with me. They were fair on their pricing, friendly, and easy to deal with!

Had four worn out tires replaced. Price was fair and service was pleasant.

I made an appointment 48 hours plus in advanced. We got to the appoint. 25 min early (appoint was 6:30pm) so dropped car off for only two tires and went across the street to eat and nothing more was said. 45 minutes later in the middle of dinner called to say they were just now getting to the 5:00 appoint although nothing was said while in the building. They would be unable to get to my car that night! Horrible service and then asked if we wanted to reschedule! Hell no!! Never will I use them again.

Last week, I went to NTB due to tires issue and they told me “Steve said he doesn’t understand how did state inspection passed due to different high speed rating” silverrock told me they approved to replace so I came back today but found out only one tire to replace and I refused. I called silverrock and they said Steve just requested only one tire” I was very angry and I left. I’ll never come back this place again ever. The worst customer service.

Amazing customer service! Was having trouble finding a place to fit me into their schedule for my annual car inspection and was calling several places. Finally called Merchants at Valley View and they helped me out immediately and provided quick and quality service! Not only did they fit me in on a Friday with only 7 days left of the month (when everyone comes for their inspection), but I had even briefly mentioned an issue with a tire losing pressure, and they were able to locate a nail in my tire that another service shop couldnt find! The other service shop had even told me that my tires had zero holes and car must just be reporting incorrect pressures (even when I double checked it with a manual tire pressure gauge). Chris provided detailed explanations of everything going on, kept me updated on my car, and really made it a great experience. I thoroughly recommend Merchants at Valley View - theyll go above and beyond and not blow their customers off. Ill return here for future needs even though theres a closer Merchants to my house

Excellent customer service! Chris Jackson is top notch and was a huge help in rescuing me from a terrible experience with the Walmart tire center. And Steve at the front counter is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Trustworthy, reliable service... Labor rates are pretty much in line with everyone else, sometimes they mark up the cost of parts a little too much, but this can be offset with their coupon discounts

They sold 2 very expensive tires to my daughter (first time buyer) for $330 without showing her cheaper options available ($46-$79 on website). Very uncool. Tip: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Peace.

The sales man the NTB store at 4817 Valley View blvd NW Roanoke was very unhelpful. Told me that the Michelin Tires I wanted were no longer available despite me showing him the NTB web page indicating 4 were available in his store and more than 75 were available in the area. Fortunately I was persistent and went to the NTB store at 3716 Franklin Rd SW Roanoke where they got the tires from the warehouse and installed them on my car that afternoon. This Franklin Rd store gets a 5 star rating, its too bad NTB has sales people like the one at Valley View Blvd store.

While traveling through the Roanoke area, I picked up a nail in my right front tire and needed service on a Sunday afternoon. The Firestone store where I first stopped 10 minutes before they closed could not help me as their men had already gone home and when I asked if there was another business in the area, I was met with a blank stare and a shrug of the shoulders. My GPS led me to Merchants a mile away and Jerry met me kindly, took my information, spoke to my husband on the phone and fully explained my invoice before beginning work on the car. They removed my spare and remounted it under my van and left my vehicle clean. Jerry was kind and professional - I could not ask for a better experience. My only suggestion is to sweep that floor. Thanks again for getting me on the road safely before dark.

The most expensive stressful oil change ever. My car was fine before I took to NTB Valley View and the worst customer service. Instead of taking ownership of the mistake Curtis said that Toyota didnt make the fuel filter cap well. Hmmmm..... never had a problem with Toyota oil change before and I have had 6 Toyotas in my family. When I addressed my concerns Megan and Curtis acted like I did something wrong for asking questions. Over talked me and cut me off which was very unprofessional. Then I was told that they had to get keep my car overnight bec they had to wait on an oil filter cap that they were getting from Toyota for $23 and bec so easy there would be no cost per Curtis. But when I went to get my car they wanted me to pay an additional $105 plus labor. They NEVER called to say it was ready or not. I went to pickup my car late that afternoon assuming it was ready just to find out they did nothing and wanted me to pay extra money for damage they did. When I took it to a different mechanic I was told that when they screwed cap they turned it too tight and messed it up. Bec of what they did I had to have my vehicle towed two times. Pay for two oil changes In less than a week. When I asked for my money back they tell me manager just left. When I orginally went for oil change they tried to upsell all these other services instead of trying to look for reasons to upsell they should have done the one job right. I wish I could give this place a negative score!

I had a great experience at Merchants at Valley View. Jerry did an excellent job explaining the various services and products. Im very pleased with the four Michelins they sold me. Ill be going back.

I had an amazing experience there today, went in for a conventional oil change and they were very kind and courteous, the manager also gave me a discount even though they didnt have it anymore, Ive always went to NTB back home and whenever im in Roanoke this is where I will continue to go !!!
