I worked at Sportsman Steel Safes several years ago. I can assure you, the product is awesome! However, there are two distinct product choices. They do import a lot from China that are built to their specifications and come with locks built in the US. The safes are actually very well made with the reinforced step door seal thats dang near impossible to pry open. The also manufacturer custom safes, vault doors and safe rooms in California. Some of the custom safes I personally saw were amazing! Yes, communication has a tendency to be chaotic, but the product is worth the effort.

I bought a safe in 2016 and was promised the lifetime warranty on the safe, lock, etc. However I bought it from a rogue employee who has since been let go and I didnt get an invoice or paperwork for the safe. I had an issue with the lock recently and they wouldnt cover any of the repair. Ended up costing me over $700 to get into the safe and replace the lock. The safes are great but the service is NOT.

Purchase the safe the lock never worked properly now they want me to buy an upgrade for $350 rip off

Just picked up my safe. Love it. The guy was profesional and polite. Had it in the warehouse for 3-4 months they did not complainI recommend them they do custom safes

I ordered an Armory Vault door by phone. The process was very easy and Fernando was professional. I got exactly the features I wanted. Fernando said it would take 8 weeks to manufacture the door and that is exactly what it took. The door was shipped from California to my home in Tennessee. It was packaged very well and there was no damage. The door and dimensions were exactly as ordered. My son-in-law and I managed to move and install the 700 lb door ourselves. Installation was straightforward.

Great place. I actually got confused and walked to the back where I met the warehouse guys who were nice enough to show me to where I needed to go. My wife and I spoke with Tommy who was really nice in showing us the safes and answering all our questions. He explained everything about the custom safes and even had a few to look at in some smaller sizes. No pressure to buy anything, they really want you to think about your purchase first. I like to read the reviews and this place deserves a good one. Great job guys.

Ordered a custom safe from Tommy. Initially he was very helpful and informative. I placed the order and that was the end of the communication. I was told 10 to 12 weeks and residential delivery. 4 months later after a lot of being ignored, no returned phone calls or emails I had to pay for my own delivery and the safe is the wrong color and poor quality. They lied about the bottom being painted (it wasnt) about delivery dates, about reimbursing me for the additional shipping I had to pay for and the door is so loose between the locking bolts and the frame. Its built in California and poor quality, horrible communication and extra charges for residential delivery. Not at all happy

This was by far the worst company that I visited in my search for my new safe. Their website is full of lies and deception! Their safes seriously lack in quality. Dont believe for a second when they say their safes are made in the U.S.A. because most of their safes are in fact Chinese. They said it was just their production line that was Chinese but that they do make some custom safes here. Well the warehouse I visited had nothing but sub par Chinese crap. I couldnt say if their safes are any better than the crap you could get at the big box stores but I can say I wouldnt trust the security of my guns with these guys. If youre in the Houston area then I would suggest going to Safes R Us and talking with Liz or her sister. They run a great little family owned business and are very helpful, and knowledgeable. Safes R Us had some great deals on some of the best gun safes money can buy. Dont waste your time with Sportsman Steel Safe Co.

Tommy is friendly, professional and experienced. Their safe selection is the best Ive seen and they will custom safes to your needs.

Went to interview for this place and the guy who did interview very rude - tossed a pen on table and said SALE THIS - Very immature acting and could tell not my type of place to try to work ,or who they have represent this company was a joke . Ive also been to many safe stores and this one sure wasnt very upscale from the people I met to the store itself, location ,and or product I saw in it ? Being in jewelry for many years ill surely tell jewelry people or all my gun owner people in HOuston or any state , stay away from this place . Id not want this type of employee working for me - WOWWWWWWWWW... could tell he didnt know how to interview anyone ,and must of been person after person at the interview they dign deep for anyone , and desperate , and very new to how to hire or to represent professionally ?

This place is horrible the moment i walked in the guy by the counter had a mean attitude he told me very rudely to find a tour guide and get the hell out of the city i wouldnt recommend no one come to this place the service was unfair and the treatment was disrespectful
