I cant say enough about this place. Theyre very helpful and it seems as though they have my best interest in mind. And they helped me save money when I was a little short. If I lived here in town they would be my auto care specialist.

Dan and Niel will go above and beyond to take care of you. There isn’t much this group can’t do. They provide great customer service and the work performed is excellent. We won’t go anywhere else.

My brake pads needed fixing on Tuesday, dropped my car off on Wednesday, and they diagnosed my car and fixed it that same day. The price was reasonable and I believe they even have some mind of payment plan in place if needed. Ill be back for any repairs my car might need in the future.

Dropped my 05 scion xa to get my pressure plate and clutch replaced and let me tell you... the mechanic Dan did an awesome job and even replaced one of my starter bolts that I broke off from before, they went out of their way to make sure everything was done right. I highly recommend them...did I mention they did all of this in a day? Yeah I was definitely impressed by their service.

Not usually into chains as far as where we go and trust to do our automobile care but the manager Dan and the guys out in the garage have been up front, honest and will help you get your vehicle taken care of and not one time has anything more been pushed on us. So far so good I came in with a exhaust leak & a lot of noise my exhaust came apart from the converter & I guess there were a bunch of patches on the exhaust pipe & they cut out all the bad parts & put a new piece of pipe in & didnt try to sell me a new converter or muffler just fixed the bad parts they quoted me $130.00 so I said fix it. I will update more if there is a problem but so far they are great.

This review is coming late, but is very well deserved for the Tuffy Auto in Grand Haven. My wife and I were on vacation and traveling back to Chicago when our hood latch malfunctioned. It was on a Saturday afternoon and pretty much everything between Grand Haven and Chicago was closed for the day. We pulled in to Tuffys and explained our issue to Dan. I could tell by looking at the car bays that they were very busy and were close to closing for the day. Dan and his team were great. they worked to get the hood latch to re-engage so we would have a safe ride home and when I asked how much we owned he said he was happy to do it for no cost because he realized how important safety is on long trips.

Front axle,hub and bearing replacement.Service was immediate,communication was great and the suv works perfectly at an easy price to afford.My new go to.

For years this place has done work for me, allowing me to bring in my own aftermarket parts for them to install for me. All of a sudden, with no reasoning as to why (because there is none except their own profit), they wont take these parts, and give an attitude about it.Find somewhere else to go.

The people here are amazing. They are straight shooters with good advice and fair prices. We were helped quickly and professionally by a staff of experts. They didnt just tell us what was wrong with the car, they showed us and clued us in on how to identify future problems. Beyond that, they are really nice, helpful and its obvious that they truly care about their customers. I would go to this Tuffy again in an instant!

I asked the manager at the counter if they could TIG weld some stainless exhaust pieces for me. He rudely said ya, wait in the lobby. I waited until the mechanic pulled in the vehicle. I walked out to explain to mechanic what I wanted. He said they dont even own a TIG welder and apologized that they cant do the work. The manager was clueless and wasted everyones time. The one mechanic seemed to know what he was doing. The rest of the shop was a bunch of kids just learning stuff on the fly from the one experienced guy. 100% would avoid this place...

I walked in thinking that it was gonna be a nice week fix like they said then come to find out it almost took two weeks for them to put a new clutch in and they also added things that i didnt need for an extra price after i got my car back the clutch was fine for a few days then it started to make a noise so i took it back and they drove it once and said there was nothing wrong when i took it to multiple different shops saying that there was so very unprofessional and dishonest.

This is a great place honest people with me they also have payment plans this be the only place i will take my car from now on

I just left Tuffy after purchasing parts and service for two cars. The service was timely and excellent and the pricing was fair. Dan was great to work with. I’ll return!

We came in and stated we needed an alignment as I hit a large pothole and ever since the car pulled to the right. We brought it in and was told it would be like $1300 to fix the problem and it wasn’t an alignment issue it was shocks and struts. This is what they told my fiancé. I didn’t believe that so I took it somewhere else where they did the alignment and now it drives straight down the road! Would never use them or recommend them!

Last week Saturday I called due to an emergency while camping in Grand Haven. I spoke to the owner and explained that my f150 had break issues, I was towing my RV and I need it to drive back home that day. He instructed me to come to the shop right away and got my truck in right away. They check it and found the emergency brake system broken and proceeded to removed. He helped my family get back home safe and help us fix the problem quick and he felt not to charge us. My family is very greatfull and know that this shop will continue blessing the community and families that need their car service. We recommend this shop and know you’ll be very pleased.

They saved the day for me on Friday. The alternator went out on my van when I was 5 hours away from home. They got me in even though it was getting later in the day and was able to replace the alternator. We were so grateful to make it back home that night!

Very glad I went there. Brakes really bad and they were able to get my car in fast. Took the time to explain what needed to be done and to show me what they were looking at. I approached my car as I prepared to leave a parking lot, and I noticed that my front Illinois license plate/holder was half off my car. I looked for an auto repair shop on line and found Tuffy on Beacon Blvd. I found a very nice gentleman named Dan in the office who agreed to look at it for me. In no time he had it fixed in position as it should be. I am very appreciative and would definitely suggest talking to Dan if your car is in need of maintenance. I know my request was small, but I was treated with respect and dignity.

Tuffy Auto did an amazing job on our truck. We had an appointment for a free inspection on a Friday and by Monday the truck was ready (they quoted us a later date). They called us with any hiccups that came up when it came to parts. Tuffy is truly an outstanding place to trust for all of your car needs. I highly recommend them!

I had an amazing experience at Tuffy in Grand Haven. It was Labor Day weekend and I needed a quick fix on my vehicle. They got me in and fixed in under an hour, right before close. On top of it they didn’t even charge for the minor work they did. I would recommend this place to anyone! Front desk man, Dan, is awesome.

Its a great place to get your car looked at. The do free inspections. Theres a little pricey to fix but like I said free to fined out whats wrong with your car.

Absolutely no communication and they do NOT stand behind their work. I had my oil changed and they looked at my brakes, they said they were fine. 1 WEEK later I get red warning lights on my display that the brakes are not working. I schedule a 7:30AM appointment to have them checked. 2 hours after Ive been waiting outside with my dog, my car has not moved. The manager says suggests i need brake pads and sensors. I ask if he looked at my car (keep in mind I had been looking at my car for 2 hours and no one even approached it). He says he did a visual inspection. A BLATANT LIE!!! But he wanted to sell me a whole brake job! He also says that he does not know when he could get to it because they are so busy. I asked him why he did not tell me this 2 hours ago since he must know I was waiting. Also, I was with my dog and it was about to rain so I went to see what was going on. He compared himself to a doctor. I AM A DOCTOR, and if I was running 2 hours behind (its never happened to me, but if it did), I would have the respect to tell the person at his or her time of check in. It is clear, that they are not interested in keeping customers. I would recommend PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

We went to Lake Michigan for the day 3 hours from home. I heard a noise in my right front wheel. we cut our day short because I was worried about getting home. we stopped at the Tuffy auto service center and they were wonderful. They told me they could look at it in about 45 minutes which they did. The place was clean the bathroom clean. He told me what was wrong and said I could get it home and have my regular mechanic fix it. Thank you so much I will go there again if I need to.

Would highly recommend... they were honest and told me I wasnt due for an oil change, but, I had taken my car to a Walmart in TN a week before coming to MI... (dirtiest oil I ever seen 2 days after from Walmart) and they inspected my brakes... told me they were ok and my oil looks perfect weeks later... brakes are great!

Awesome customer service and great repair work on my SUV. I needed new front axles, tie rods, and stabilizer links. My warranty covered what i needed, at first my warranty was trying to say i needed to pay the full amount up front because of some issue with an invoice needed, but Dan was able to call my warranty and make it so all i had to pay was my deductible. They had a loaner car for me to use, and they were speedy on my repairs, also being the only place who could get me in the shop, the same day i called. Very impressed and I highly recommend them! A++

Younger girl I know had brake work done. New pads & rotors. Goes back with roasted rotors & pads 2 month s later. Calipers were froze up. This should have been caught the first time. Charged her $400.00 again to repair the brakes.Do not recommend this place to do business with.

We were traveling through and had tire problems with a travel trailer and Tuffy’s took care of us when several others couldn’t or wouldn’t. Great friendly guys and worked with us to get us going. Would definitely recommend this shop.

On August 12, 2014 I was driving home from Michigan to Chicago. My battery had dies that morning and I need a jump. I knew the battery had to be replaced. As we were driving, we stopped off in Grand haven and I noticed a Tuffys. I had used them in Chicago from time to time. I went in to inquire about replacing my battery. I have NEVER had such a GREAT experience, not just auto, but across service organizations. I was in and on my way in about 30 minutes! What also impressed me was the shop itself. It was IMMACULATE. You can tell that those who work there really care about their shop, work, and customer service. It was so impressive that I want to go back! Believe me if I am in the area, that is where I will go! I cant thank them enough for the wonderful experience. It was something I was dreading, but was very pleasantly surprised. Thank you again!

Needed my wheel cylinders replaced only, however they insisted that I needed to get the whole drum (both) replaced due to some of the springs being worn out. 600 dollars and 3 months later, my wheel cylinders are leaking. Needed a new oil pan due to the drain plug getting mysteriously stripped, about 4 months later, my rear main and oil pan gasket are leaking. You can also visibly see the used at least 4 tubes of black rtv, and they still messed it up. They also lazily chopped my exhaust off to get to it, and welded it back poorly, very poorly. Finally, the old guy at the counter is very cocky, rude, and will try to upsell you. I would highly reccomend going elsewhere.

Took my car in to have an exhaust leak taken care of. In no time they had tracked down the leak and had to order a y-pipe from Grand Rapids. Niels gave me a loner car so I wouldn’t have to sit there and wait all morning. After they replaced the bad pipe my car sounds great and I really appreciated the loner they gave me. Thanks guys!

Im have always received great service at this location. From a light bulb for my headlight to extensive brake work.Niels and Dan are both great to work with.Dan was awesome to work with on brakes.Kind, fun, proffessional. They have a payment plan if you are in a jam. A local large tire chain wanted to charge me 100.00 just to check my transmission fluid in my truck and I had spent 800.00 dollars with them months before.Tuffy Grand Haven did it at no charge because all checked out. If you are a female you can trust these guys!!!!Thanks Niels & Dan!!!!!

Excellent repair shop to go to. Its never fun to need a repair but they are fair and care about making your vehicle safe for the road.

Terrible service. The manager took it upon himself to choose what oil change was best for my car without consulting me first. When I came to him about it, he said that was what was best for my vehicle type. I told him that the customer decides what is best for their car. But I couldnt get many words in on this conversation because he continually cut me off and wouldnt let me talk. Would NEVER recommend this place unless you like someone else to decide what is best for your car no matter what the price. Because the price of that oil change jumped about $15 more than usual.

Tuffy blatantly tried to rip me off. I went in with my wifes car to get the windshield wiper looked at, and they told me it was the windshield transmission (which does NOT exist). After about 15 minutes of looking at it (why so long?) They tried to tell me again that that was the problem. I told them I had to leave, and left to look at it myself. Within 2 minutes I saw it was the linkage, and a $6 fix, not the 500-600 they tried to sell me.Dont go here. They are liars and cheats and will scam you with words and an appearance of knowledge. Youre better off at AutoZone or Auto Parts plus down the street.

This week is finals week for me at school, and of course my car had to break down..I went into Tuffy and in UNDER AN HOUR they were able to tell me what was wrong, give me an esitmste, and fix it for me at a reasonable price! Their customer service was outstanding, extremely impressed!

I am a local Grand Haven resident who used this Tuffy for the first time to repair a bad muffler on my vehicle. The muffler alone was $80 and advertised as lifetime warranty - labor was an additional $100. This was higher than other shops in the area but I figured I should never need to replace this muffler again given it was a lifetime warranty muffler. Less than two years later the muffler is completely coming apart (delaminating) and extremely noisy. I returned the vehicle to Tuffy for inspection and repair. The branch manager looked at the muffler along with some mechanics and said Tuffy would cover the replacement cost for the muffler (due to its lifetime warranty) but labor would not be covered and will cost an additional $100. I was furious. It was obvious to the technicians that there was a manufacturing defect in the muffler that was originally installed but they would not waive the labor fee - $100. I told them I did not think it was fair that I should pay for the installation given the muffler was defective. They told me some mufflers only last 2 years. I asked why the muffler is advertised as lifetime warranty - the local branch manager reiterated that labor is only covered for the first year and since this muffler went bad after one year I would have to pay for the labor. I then asked for the district manager who after some persuading over the phone offered to cover 1/2 of the labor and extend the labor coverage on this new muffler to two years. Honestly I feel cheated and will look to a different mechanic to do this kind of labor.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR AUTOMOBILE HERE EVER.... They will rip you off. They tried to tell us that the gear shift cable was broken and it would be over $300.00 to fix. That was a lie. My nephew came and got our automobile and found out it was not broken but had just slipped off and was loose. It didnt cost us anything for him to tighten it up and put it back on. Now our automobile runs great and we dont have any problems with it since. Tuffys in Grand Haven are liars and thieves. They will rip you off and give you a bogus quote. Shame on you Tuffys of Grand Haven. You should be turned in and reported and closed down. Makes me wonder how many people they have ripped off and how many hundreds of thousands of dollars they have made by ripping people off.

They took a bottle of power steering fluid from my car without asking me, and then charged me for a bottle. When I called and wanted a refund he said he will just give me a bottle of fluid. I didn’t pay the ten dollars their charging me for the bottle they stole , So they want me to pay them for a bottle of fluid plus what they stole from my car and just give me a bottle back I’m being ripped off. This place is ridiculous first and last time I come here so unprofessional

I brought my car in this morning for breaks. I have been having issues for weeks but personally dont know enough about cars to diagnose so trusted the local Tuffy team to get my car taken care of. I received a call after all inspections were completed to tell me my car was ready and they had good news. THE GOOD NEWS was my car had NO ISSUES and the car was ready to be picked up woth NO CHARGES. Thank you for being HONEST!!! My Family will be back.

Very good customer service. Most of the 1 stars are from old manager. The manager, Dan , was very informative about local car dealerships and service providers.

Oil change and tire rotation scheduled at 1pm. Got here 5 minutes early, took nearly an hour and I was the only customer. Couldn’t talk to the manger since he was too busy walking around talking in his personal cell phone. This was my first and last time here. What a joke.

We were looking to purchase a vehicle in the area and the guys at Tuffy saved us from buying a lemon. We were so grateful and would definitely recommend this place.

After repairing my brakes, my parking brake mechanism was broken. They will not own up to the mistake and make the necessary repair, only quote the labor. Their motto is Done right. Period. That could not be more UNTRUE. I recommend taking your business somewhere that stands behind their work, not here.

They are very nice people and they work with me on a budget plan. They have been very honest about what needs to be done with my car and I will continue to go to Tuffy Auto.:)

Got my car in-got my car out. Dealer wanted $65 just to look at my car. Tuffy fixed it for $4. Thats a four, folks. Price, quality, service; the name of the game.

My chicky went here and got completely got ripped off. 700 dollar tune up later and her check engine light comes on blocks down the road. STAY AWAY!!

Update from my original review.. returned to Michigan March 5th 2018 came back to tuffys .and they addressed the issues promptly..with in an hour and a half they replaced the muffler and tail pipe with excellence..the general manager Niels was very professional...much appreciated...

I didnt get a repair done here but a nice guy loaned me a hammer. It was a nice hammer.

They have done a lot of work on the vehicles for both me and my family, and the service seems to depend on which mechanic works your car. Sometimes they will resolve the issue, other times you might as well flush your money down the toilet because theyll tell you something is broken when its not.

Fixed my tire quickly during a holiday weekend for under 20 bucks. Cant complain about that.

Pretty expensive but they did the job good they replaced for tires on my vehicle Im happy Im just not happy about the price could have been cheaper elsewhere but they do offer payment plans most places do not so this is the choice I made

I didnt like anything about this shop!!!! My husband worked here and he had to go out of town last minute for a funeral and when he came back to get his tools(because they fired him for having to go) THEY TOOK ALL OF HIS TOOLS!!!! My husband had to call the cops and file a police report! We are now going to take them to court! They also screwed him in his last paycheck! The people who work here are crooks!!!! Do not go here!

Bought new tires for my Rv, they ordered them and arrived super quick, the gentleman was friendly and patient with me. Got the tires on sale too.

Employees are rude (atleast over the phone). They didnt understand what i need a tire changed means. Then treats you like your an idiot the whole time. Simply needed a tire taken off (stuck on after not being removed for a long time) and my replacement put on.

Good guys, professional work. Sort of expensive but reflects the high quality work.

Been doing business with them on and off for 4 yrs never had a problen with them to speak of. I like that I can get my vans fixed by quality mechanics, make payments and still have my vehicle.

My starter went bad the day after Christmas leaving me without my car. Tuffy had it replaced the same day! On top of that 2 days later I had my tire come off my rim due to a flat. They fixed it the same day and didnt even charge me, the customer service here cant be beat and Ill be bringing my vehicles here from now on whenever I have any issues!

This establishment is a shameful mess of horrid customer service and regretfully corrupt mechanics. Take your business elsewhere.
