Nice neighborhood and a trendy looking coffee place. On a Saturday morning with the market crowd there was about a ten minute wait to get coffee. My wife had a black tea which was fine. I decided to go for their specialty pour over coffee which had a nice flavor but was only warm which kind or ruined everything

One of the best lattes Ive ever had. If they have it, get the honey lavender citrus syrup. Its amazing.

This was a cozy environment with very delicious coffee rated about an average of 1 to 2 dollars cheaper than a starbucks.Parking is always a pain in the downtown area, but once youre there its comfortable.A good spot to go for a date, and the music is at a low rumble so hear people youre talking with and the bathrooms were alright. Same with the toilet paper.Also, very close to the city market!Drink in the first pic is a vanilla latté; they dont have hazelnut flavor but they change their coffee types every 3-6 months.

Coffee was amazing! Had an oat milk lavender honey citrus cappuccino. 😋Music had explicit lyrics, which wasnt great. ❌Barista didnt acknowledge us when we were standing at the register waiting.

A wonderful coffee shop. Definitely a must-do on any coffee crawl or KC day trip. The manager, Ben, was very friendly, knowledgeable about coffee and had great recommendations for other places to see in KC! He also busted out his fall specials menu early for me, and made me this subtlety sweet and spicy espresso and hot red pepper cocktail. As a fellow coffee enthusiast, the opportunity to chat with Ben, and the time he took to chat with me was such a refreshing experience in a shop. Will be back.

I was visiting Kansas City, looking for apartments and I found this place. My type of coffee! Sol delicious. They also sell protein snacks, which are also very good.

Had the chai with CBD add in. Delicious! With a subtle nuttiness to it. Will def be back. I love that the barista asked what type of milk I wanted. I sometimes forget about that and pay for my absent minded moment later.

I am almost reluctant to write a public review because I love this spot so much. I am from Kansas City. I work from home, so it is important for me to switch up my scenery and I enjoy coffee shops. I have been all over Kansas City looking for the perfect spot and none of the other coffee joints come close to Thou Mayest. The energy at Thou Mayest is so enjoyable. The music is always on point for research/writing vibes. The staff is always so nice and present. They mindfully engage with you. They have gluten free options and their coffee is AMAZING. The huge windows at the front provide optimal lighting and the cozy couch is available when you want to sink in. They also have big tables where you can sit to network, maybe. If youre an extrovert. Maybe they will consider putting up signs to encourage community networking

All around YES. Fantastic staff, perfectly poured lattes, great location. Not to mention, good place to stock up on any at-home brewing things you made need (think chemex filters)

My fav coffee in KC! I love the alternative milk options! I always get oat milk! They have a drink called harvest moon that I am obsessed with! They also have amazing muffins and cinnamon rolls! Very nice staff & cozy cute merch!

Visiting from Tulsa, Oklahoma and was looking for a cool place to hangout. Found this place, and was not disappointed! Environment was great with soft music in the background, and aroma as soon as you walked in. Seating for small groups and for individuals. There’s nice bar seating looking out the window to the street—nice touch. Great view of the Kansas City skyline right as you walk out the door. The iced vanilla latte was great, and had a unique flavor. Staff was really nice and recommended some of their best options to us—very friendly. The space wasn’t quiet, but was cozy. Overall, cool, hipster environment with great coffee and helpful, inviting staff.

This used to be Quay coffee shop, I am not sure if they got new ownership. Today on 8/05/2020 the inexperienced guy who made my drink put milk in my drink then, with his fingers pulled out ice cubes because he put too many in ( I did not ask him to pull the ice cubes out). I have no idea where you fingers have been but this is not ok. They clearly need to train him better, this was gross and not the same experience I used to love before it changed to Thou Mayest.

Really like the vibe here but almost $3 for a large black coffee thats this big. Come on! I put my phone in there for scale and reference.

Stellar espresso and espresso based drink preparation. I used to own an espresso business, trained barista’s and value properly prepared coffee highly. We visited Quay twice, first yesterday then again today. It’s about a mile walk from the convention center in downtown and worth every step of the journey! The latte art on my friends drink today was the best example of free poured art I have ever seen. The drink itself was excellent. My espresso was smooth and aromatic. Beautifully done, both.

I only got the espresso but it was delicious. Perfectly made and presented, it hit the spot! I like tea and while I didnt get it this time, I noticed a selection of good tea leaves of several varieties. Had wonderful service and look forward to going back. Highly recommend!

Great coffee and service!

Happy Gillis is one of my favorite breakfast spots in all of KC. I usually get the half order of biscuits and gravy which is the best B&G youll have in this town. Both their bloody Marys and mimosas and great and love their get your own coffee with free real fills. Its a tiny little place and can get busy but usually by the time youre through the line to order, a table will open up.

Loved the atmosphere. Coffee was good but they were out of almond milk so I had to get oat milk instead. Took the taste of my coffee from probably a 5 to a 4 since I wasnt a huge fan of it.

If you dont drink coffee there is not a lot of choice. Nice staff. Pastries almost gone by only 9:30 am! It is fine if you work downtown but not worth paying to park for.

Great coffee! Parking can be a bit of a pain if youre not familiar with the area. Be sure to bring a few dollars or have a credit / debit card with you if you pop in during the weekdays as they surrounding lots are pay lots. The pay lots are inter-mingled with reserved / private parking lots so pay attention - definitely NOT worth having your whip towed over a cup of coffee! Nice atmosphere, neat part of town, and good joe. I always stop by when Im in this neck the woods and have yet to be disappointed.

This is easily my favorite coffee spot in the city. Ever since I was turned on to actual good coffee, this has been my spot. I recommend getting the cold brew coffee!! It’s super strong but doesn’t taste bad. And if you are looking for a coffee experience where they don’t just pour it from a huge vat of premise coffee, this is the place to go. And the atmosphere here is very lax and comfortable. Highly recommended

This is where you go to get a great latte from a hipster with a handlebar mustache. The coffee sizes are small but the quality is excellent.If youre feeling adventurous, try a nick and cork (espresso sidecar)

This place always has an amazing energy about it. I come here at least 3x a week . It’s a great place to get a coffee and crush out some work. The staff are all extremely friendly and attentive. I wish there were more of these around the city . I do believe they are expanding though so that is good .

Wife and I ordered a pour over and were really disappointed. It had a burnt or green flavor (kind of like Starbucks can be sometimes). It was very watery and see-through. Nice ambiance inside and a cool neighborhood, but we wont be going back.

Truly one of the best local coffee shops in the city. I have never, literally, left here disappointed. I have tried all the others. The coffee selection, which rotates, is always top shelf. The pour overs are done with such precision.The first time I walked in, I thought I just paid $4 for a 12oz cup of coffee, and its worth every penny. If someone asks me for a great coffee shop I send them here.While the coffee is excellent, the from-scratch hot chocolate is a hidden gem. Perhaps even better than the coffee.

Great coffee, quiet staff, loud space. I enjoy grabbing coffee to go, but not staying for long. The place is often crowded and people talking loudly, but the staff are rarely heard even when taking your order. Coffee 5☆, ambience 2☆.

I love love love Quay. They make the best coffee in Rivermarket. The employees are so kind, and really seem to care about their regulars. They also are really good at you know, making coffee. It is a small building but dont let that scare you away from a phenomenal establishment.

I really wanted to love this place. The atmosphere was neat and located in a neat area of town, but my drink was mediocre and the shop was really crowded. My husband and I had to sit in the back directly in front of the bathroom door. I can imagine a spot by the window would have made our experience alot more special.

The barista wasnt very friendly. First time I had been there. I wasnt sure of the process of ordering or paying. She rolled her eyes when I asked. Also my two lattes were barely warm.

I love this place. Very hip and pleasant.The last time I went my honey latte was amazing and I also had a pop-tart which was very nice but very sugary.We were able to grab a table with no problem but half the tables were taken up by people with laptops. It would be very frustrating to not find a table with five or six people sitting solo at tables.The boys behind the counter were really nice as well, explaining drinks and joining us in a conversation about an art exhibit at the Nelson.Pros: GREAT coffee, chill atmosphere, next to a trolley, fun workers, good pricesCons: None

Great local coffee shop in the historic River Market area. Love the look of the shop: a two floor store with exposed brick walls, framed coffee bags, and typical chalk board with their specials. The large windows at the front of store showed the off the neighborhood and provided an open feel. The staff is really nice and helpful. They were willing to make suggestions and walked around and talked to the patrons.

Great place to work or visit in the heart of River Market. It is on the train line. It is handicapped acceptable except the bathrooms which are impeded by tables. Love the environment. They dont have much of a food selection, but the chi is good. Quickly becoming my favorite coffee house.

It was pretty good. I would like another trip to make up my mind. There wasnt anything much to really make the shop stand out as unique. I do like that its right off the street car stop, and if youre in the area, its worth your time and your dollar.

The interior was supper cute and reminded me of a coffeehouse back home. That’s what attracted me to the place. But however the coffee was not my favorite.

The coffee experience at Quay is something that has to be experienced by any true coffee lover. Every week, Cory and his staff seek out the best beans to offer their customers. Their knowledge of coffee specific is refreshing and their helpfulness in setting up your home brew station are the best in the area.

I really like this place. The Chai is excellent, the staff are friendly and its a very hip and relaxed vibe. I could definitely see myself spending some time here working on my laptop or playing board games with friends, or just having a cute coffee date with my wife. Highly recommended.

Great coffee and friendly staff! The breakfast burritos are also very yummy. We try to come to Quay anytime we are in Kansas City and it never disappoints.

Quay Coffee is a few hundred feet from a KC Streetcar stop. The acme brick exterior stands out with the black, green and cream colored frames around the large picture windows. The acme brick wall continues as the main feature down the right side of the coffee bar where the baristas serve you.

I went here to meet with a few people to discuss plans for my wedding because we were looking for a nice environment that was laid back and easy to talk in. The staff was okay at first, and the coffee was good but while my group and I were still talking (around 7:45pm and they close at 8pm) one of the staff came and reminded us that they were closing in 10 minutes and then reached over one of my friends, who was sitting by their main stereo, to turn the house music up louder which made it difficult for us to finish up our meeting. I thought it was pretty disrespectful, especially since we were paying customers. I dont think Ill be going back.

As a traveling coffee lover, Im always seeking out the best coffee experiences. This place has strong flavored coffee with baristas who care (and with hipster mustaches). Enjoy your coffee whilst soaking in the comforting wooden interior, exposed brick walls, framed coffee sacks, hand crafted table ornaments and music thats soft enough to hear the espresso beans grind. Not to mention, the large windows looking onto a quaint strip in River City Market.

Terrible staff experience today. Very rude... we went up to order, one girl was busy, another was at the end of the counter talking to a guy. The busy girl asked the other girl to help take our order, the girl talking to the guy visibly rolled her eyes because she had to help us. While we were there the other girl rudely informed us that we needed to leave because they closed at 4.. it was 4:12. (Our bad, we should have looked at the time) but a kinder tone would have been appreciated. Coffee is typically good, cute place but probably won’t be going back.

I love the coffee and generally love the staff, but the last 3 times Ive been here, it took over 20 minutes to get an Americano. They made it right by giving me a $5 token, just know this isnt your place if youre in a rush. Its my preferred meet up for carpools. River market parking nearby and youre always a winning passenger when you show up with Quays.

The coffee is not good enough to cover the fact that the staff is extremely immature and rude. The staff was acting like they were just there to hang out with each other. Never once did any of them make eye contact with me.... even as I ordered. Once I got my espresso... it was burnt dead coffee. My friend ordered a hot chocolate... it tasted rancid.

Im more of a star bucks kinda coffee drinker but there coffee isnt bad.

The Quay has wonderful coffee and good baked goods (they use Scratch Bakery).

I would be sure to look at your receipt after getting coffee here. I got a large drip coffee for about $3.00, so imagine my surprise when I saw my credit card statement charge for $6.35. The barista tipped himself 100% without permission. Great.

One of my favorite coffee shops in KC! Its got great coffee, friendly staff, and is in such a fun part of town. I love the big window that look out on Delaware street, you see the streetcar pass every 15ish minutes
