TLS has been a God send. I was looking for a certified Lexus mechanic and after reading reviews on the Next Door App I scheduled my first service. Ive been extremely pleased with how Im treated and the pricing has been more than fair and reasonable. Fred and team are the absolute best and I feel that Ive not just found a mechanic but a family who treats me as such! Its not often that people are excited to see their mechanic but knowing that I have someone that I can trust in times of need or just regular maintenance means the world to me! Fred’s a good guy and straight shooter. He came recommended to me through another mechanic that had just retired. He does excellent and fast work and will be upfront with you regarding cost. He gives dealership service center level work with much better prices.

Ive been taking our cars as well as our daughters to TLS for about 3 years and they always do a great job. Though most work has been oil changes, they replaced my daughters door lock motors. The lock motors are doing great and replaced those installed by the dealer (which didnt last long).

Im an very picky about who can work on my vehicles since I used to work in the industry. I have now been going here for about a year. I would not hesitate to send anyone here. Great service and value. They do not try to upsell you and give you a real health assessment of your vehicle. You can go to places that are cheaper or more expensive but I believe you be very hard pressed to find a better honest service for your dollar than here. I will be a lifetime customer. I became a TLS customer back in 2010 when Fred was still in the early stages of building what many would agree is a great company in the present time, 11 years later. This establishment is probably the best in its class of non-franchised family owned speciality automotive shops. The space is always clean from the moment you enter the parking lot, to the customer lobby area, and into the work area/garage which goes to show how passionate TLS is about their work, and most importantly the care of your vehicle. My personal experience regarding customer service here has been absolutely amazing, Fred and Casey are honest, reliable, humble, and are willing to help you as best as possible in the best interest of both parties. Just make sure as with any business transaction, you come to TLS with the right attitude, and realistic expectations. In regards to value and price, compared to what you may be charged at an actual Toyota/Lexus dealer directly for automotive work , the value is acceptable to me, but you need to understand we are working with the LONG LASTING Toyota and Lexus brand of vehicles, so you get what you pay for, but the bonus of that is the great customer service they offer. Fred is very knowledgeable about Toyotas, Lexus and Scions. Had my brakes done on my scion and they are super smooth and quiet. He thoroughly inspected car and let me know the few things he found that should be on my radar for future fixes (which wasnt much). I will be bringing my scion back for all its needed maintenance and repairs.

My first visit at TLS was great, as they had done my brake fluid, coolant flush, and oil change. My recent service was not so great. I had gone in for an oil change and alignment. After the alignment I had driven a bit but noticed the steering wheel was not quite straight after driving (had to turn the steering wheel a little bit clockwise) I am not by any means proficient in vehicle maintenance and repairs, but I noticed the difference while I was driving. I went back and spoke with Fred, and mentioned this. He asked for my keys, and said he would check himself- no problem. He got in my car and slammed the door shut and sped off- to where I started to feel uncomfortable. He came back and asked me to get in, and we went together, and I again voiced what I had felt, and he insisted the alignment was straight and there was no problem. I showed him the angle that I noticed the steering wheel needed to and raised his voice and said “there’s no problem dude.” By then we made it back to the auto shop and I apologized for taking up his time and he went inside. Even after driving for several hours after, I can notice that if I set the steering wheel straight it starts going a little left.TLS offers service at a very competitive rate around DFW, but my interaction with Fred and how he drove and treated my car after the service is a bit much for me to consider going back.

Tried TLS after a shoddy repair at a different shop located in Bedford. TLS is very clean and professional. The owner Fred seems to focus on quality, which in my experience is hard to find. TLS also fixed an alignment problem on my car that the dealership wasnt able to solve. Drives straight as an arrow now. Very satisfied.

I have a Lexus IS F and have always owned Toyota/Lexus cars. Throughout the years, Ive tested several local mechanics in search of that mythical perfect mechanic that is competent, trustworthy, and just plain good at what they do. I can finally say that my search has ended, and Fred and Casey at TLS Auto Specialist Service & Repair will now be my go-to mechanics for any of my cars.I had a CEL as well as headlights that were improperly installed by another local mechanic. Fred troubleshot my issues in the shop and verified there was nothing wrong with my factory components, then went above and beyond by researching my aftermarket exhaust system during afterhours. He concluded that I probably had a faulty aftermarket component (he was right). As for the headlight, they adjusted my headlights as best they could (definitely improved but not quite perfect due to a part defect). I completely expected to pay for their time and services, but Fred stated that since he was unable to completely fix either problem, they would not charge me anything. I was shocked. This speaks volumes about their personal integrity and the way they run their business. You can tell they are trying their best to do the right thing by their customers. Fred was also extremely friendly and spent the time to explain what he had done and what his suggestions were. I have been referring all of my friends/family who own Toyota/Lexus vehicles to check these guys out!

Great service. Took my Sequoia in 100% convinced it was a front wheel bearing issue. Fred and Casey troubleshot it further and found it to actually be a bad rear wheel bearing. Great find and a great fix for a great price. Ill be back.

TLS is a top notch shop. They completed an engine rebuild/install on my beloved Toyota MR2 Spyder, after another mechanic left the job half-done. I just wish I found TLS sooner. Could have saved myself a lot of headache. Fred is the shop owner (I think) and is very knowledgeable. I asked him to help me get the engine running smooth again. He troubleshooted problems, found solutions, and kept me updated along the way. Great service.

My father-in-law has been coming here for years and has always said how he much he likes this place and how honest the people are that work here. Earlier this year, my wife took her Corolla to Christian Automotive Brothers for an alignment check since she had a coupon. After they told her it would be $500 to fix the alignment, we took her car here to get a second opinion. Fred said nothing was wrong with the alignment and had the paperwork to prove it. We will not go anywhere else but TLS if something is wrong with either of our vehicles. Thanks TLS!

Cannot say enough good things! Fred is so friendly and honest. I got several estimates for my repair, and TLS was consistently the lowest. He did my repair and changed my oil for less than any other shops repair estimate, and then he changed my tail light bulb free of charge! Not only that, he opened up the shop 30 minutes early on a Friday morning to make sure I would have my car on time to get to work. He didnt try to upsell me on any services I dont need, but he gave me a great idea of what to expect in the future for my engine, and an estimate for the service as well. What a GREAT repair place! We had an appointment snafu, where I thought I had an appt for a Saturday. I drove there only to find out they were CLOSED on Saturdays, so you think Id be out of luck, right? WRONG!!! They opened up the shop JUST FOR ME, and performed the requested repairs in less than an hour! Where can you find service like THAT anymore?!?!?!?Theyve earned my business and I encourage anyone with a Toyota/Scion/Lexus to consider TLS for your service needs!

Another great repair. Stopped by again this month to have my water pump replaced. Total cost was $150 under the dealers estimate . I called two days in advance which I consider short notice for a smaller shop. Dropped the car off at 8AM and picked it up that afternoon. Very happy with the service. Its nice not having to worry about being gouged for unnecessary repairs and high cost.

What a great experience! Lexus ES 350 died and TLS was able to diagnosis my issue and fix the problem the same day, and at a very reasonable price. I was desperate to get car back and would have paid whatever, but they were very honest and will definitely be back for anything else that may comes up. I have never felt comfortable at the dealership, because they give me a laundry list of things that need to be done, and at much higher prices than TLS, whenever I go in for warranty work or a car wash. All they service is Toyota/ Lexus... so they know those vehicles and do quality work at an affordable price. I would definately recommend TLS to family and friends. Thx TLS...youre the best.

Hands down the best service shop we have ever used. Fred and Casey have been taking care of our four Toyotas--01 Camery, 01 Solara, 04 Sienna, 06 Tundra-- (700,000 miles among the four of them) now for a couple of years and we look forward to several hundred thousand more miles with them. I have taken my car here for the last five years. My Camry is 16 yo and Fred has made sure to keep it humming right along. Honest, friendly and knowledgeable, I would not take my car anywhere else.

My 07 4Runner with nearly 300k miles was leaking near the front axle from the differential. I wanted a Toyota specialist shop since I dont want to pay dealer price. I have only taken my truck in once for repair, and that was at a Toyota dealership for a wheel bearing. Found TLS not far away, called them up, talked to Fred, he asked to bring it by. He knew exactly what was wrong with it. Going in I knew my car had a long list of over due maintenance needed to be done. Fred called me the next day, told me the cost of the repair, plus what maintenance needed to be done. He was very honest, he will not ask to do things your car does not need. He says my brakes and transmission fluid are good. I knew my tranny fluid was still good because it was done at the dealer. Most shop will ask you to do it even if its still good. Their price was very reasonable. Knowing my truck needed to be done anyways and I got 2,000 mi trip coming up, I approved all those neglected maintenance to be done. Now my truck feels better, switching into 4WD is much smoother and faster. It use to take couple min and speeding up / down for it to kick into 4WD. TLS is my go to shop now. All my family members own Toyotas, they will be getting our business.

Best auto repair shop Ive ever been to. What makes it unique is the owner, Fred, who is a certified Toyota Master Technician. Fred opened this shop after many years at an auto dealer. He got tired of working for dealers with poor ethics, i.e. being pressured to perform unneeded services to increase the price of repairs. So he struck out on his own with a mission to provide honest service at a dealership-level but at a lower price than dealers charge.Fred is not necessarily the cheapest but youll save money in the long run. Example: my factory-installed car alarm started going off at random times but most frequently at 3-4 am. Looking it up online, I found hundreds of other customers with the same problem. They were paying hundreds of dollars, even thousands, with dealers and repair shops trying to get it stopped.I took my Camry to Fred and relayed some of the advice and feedback from other peoples experiences. He listened but didnt seem to think much of that advice; just said hed investigate. Called me that afternoon; thinks he found the problem. Cost $50. Yep, he had. 7 mo. now and no 3am wakeup calls from the car.Back to unique: Fred is so outgoing, friendly and social. From the first time I met him 2 years ago, when you sit and talk to Fred, you feel like youre talking to a friend. Maybe even a brother (but a brother who is highly skilled in his field, not an idjit like my brother).I could have written this review 2 yrs ago since nothing has changed. Fred and his son Casey who works with him are a small, family-run business that treats every customer honestly and fairly.Yeah, I recommend this place for auto repair. Just keep in mind, you need a Toyota, Lexus or Scion. Dont being anything else. If you have a Toyota, Lexus or Scion in the HEB area, you really should do yourself a huge favor and take your car to TLS Auto Specialist. We have a 1996 Toyota Previa SC van with over 181,000 miles on it so I didnt want to just take it anywhere for service, and quite honestly I believe the dealership is overpriced. I came across Freds business while doing some internet research and called him up. We talked for about 30 minutes and we arranged a shop walk through. Yes, I wanted to see his place before they touched my vehicle. I believe how a shop looks says a lot about how thorough the person working on the car will be, and Freds shop was spotless. After the walk through, I arranged for some work to be done. Fred replaced the Supplemental Accessory Driveshaft (SADS), the water pump, and completed a full tune-up. When I went to pickup the car. I asked to see all the old parts, and Fred happily, invited me into the shop area where he had all the parts on a mobile cart. As I picked up the old parts to look at them, he proceeded to show and tell me all the reasons that particular part was replaced. Since that time, I have had some more work done, and every time the service has been the best. Because of the amazing service, and exceptional wok quality, I will not take my Toyota to anybody else. TLS Auto Specialist has my five star rating. Some people say, great automotive service is dead, to that, I would say, then you havent taken your car to Fred at TLS Auto Specialist.Sincerely,Robert F. I had 4 lights come on all at once on my Toyota Solara. I had never been to TLS, but had heard of them from a friend. I brought my car in right after they normally closed and Fred was nice enough to put my car on the lift and run some diagnostic tests. After taking about 20 minutes to run tests he came and told me it was the catalyic convertor, and that to fix it would cost $1300. He said it really wouldnt pose a major risk if I didnt fix it. Most of the time you go to a car repair shop and all they are trying to do is charge you for major repairs. TLS did not do this, and for all the time he spent helping me he never even charged me at all. Since then I took my car to TLS and got my oil changed, and they have one of the nicest waiting rooms Ive ever seen at a car repair shop. They were even helpful enough to let me use their fax machine. I highly reccomend them and will use the exclusively going forward.Mike g
