We set out to visit Urban Mattress and the other store in the same center. I had been considering buying a new mattress from Urban Mattress at their north Austin location for over a year and recently decided to move forward on a product I had been looking at for a long time. The salesperson I worked with was Tamara. She is clearly confident comfortable with interacting with a variety of folks and has a low key, patient, yet attentive approach that was exactly what I needed to get over the hump in reaching a decision. At this stage of the process, she highly encouraged me to spend a good 20 minutes lying on a mattress first before buying. This impressed me.What surprised me even further is that even after the sale was obviously going to happen she spent a lot of time applying her problem solving skills to the specific requests/needs I voiced during the checkout process.They were out of stock of one of the mattress protectors I was wanting. I made it clear that I needed total protection of the mattress from spills etc. from day one. I insisted that I had to have them in hand before the mattress arrived. (they have great mattress exchange policy but if the mattress gets stained during the trial period then you are permanently stuck with it.)I was amazed at how patient and thorough she was in addressing this and she did end up finding to way to fill this request though it took quite a bit of problem solving on her end to see how she could get it to work. If you are already considering Urban Mattress at their N. Austin location I would encourage you to specifically request Tamara when you go in.

I highly recommend using this business for purchasing your mattress. My experience in purchasing the 3 mattresses was bar none. I had a two people helping me via the phone with much experience and information - Lauren and Kari. I was able to make a very informed decision with what to buy. Once the delivery day arrived for two mattresses, i received two phone calls (the first I missed so a message was left) stating when they would arrive. When I first started reading through the reviews here, I felt they may be writing their own reviews due to such high scores. After purchasing a mattress and sleeping on it for the last week, I can honestly say that this has been a great experience from start to finish. Paul did an excellent job of showing me what they had to sell while keeping in mind my budget and did not try to up-sell me like other mattress stores. Shane was willing to negotiate with me and I got an excellent deal (honestly, it was such a good deal I was skeptical). After the delivery guys delivered and set up my bed free of charge (great guys that had it set up within 10 minutes), I decided to give it a week to see how I still felt about my purchase before writing them a good review. The personal experience that we received was far better than ordering off the Internet, carrying the huge box in by myself, and unraveling it.... Just to find out that I hate it and now I get to figure out how to roll it up, put it back in the box, breaking my back and dropping it off at the UPS store. Far better experience to lay down on different mattresses, seeing which one feels the best while having Shane and his attentive staff lead you to the perfect mattress. When it was time for a new mattress my wife and I made the trip to Austin on a referral to visit Urban Mattress in North Austin. We were very impressed with Shane as he took a lot of time educating us on the different types of mattress construction and helped us narrow down our favorites of each of the different types . After narrowing our favorites to our top two we then considered the price difference between them to make our final selection. Shane had warned us that the mattress would start out firm and get softer after we had slept on it for several nights. After the first night we were thinking that we had messed up and gone too firm but he encouraged us to give it a little time and if we still didnt like it that he would swap it out for a softer mattress. Just like he had told us, after a couple weeks we started liking the mattress much more and after a month we were very pleased with our new mattress and did not see any need to exchange it. We now really enjoy our mattress each night and really appreciate the guidance that we got in making our purchase. Got a FIRM mattress. Delivered on Tuesday. This is Friday. FOUR sessions of restful, continuous sleep. Why did I wait so long? Great buying experience. Great sleeping experience. Looking forward to several years of the latter. Sleep on. Oh, by the way, did I say this mattress was for my nap room? Now, I may have to buy another of the same kind but bigger for my REAL night time sleeping events. If I do, I know where to go.

I had done a lot of research on mattresses because no matter what I slept on, I woke up hurting. I am a side sleeper and my arm would go numb and my neck would hurt. I tried memory foam and would wake up hot and sweating. I slept on a blowup mattress when staying at a friends and had the best sleep ever. It reminded me of when I had a waterbed and loved it. So I looked for mattresses that would mimic that feel and Latex mattresses kept coming up. I wanted to try it out before ordering such a big purchase online and being disappointed if it didn’t work. There were only 2 stores in Austin that carry Latex Mattresses in Austin and I happen to walk by Urban Mattress while eating at a restaurant next door. SO HAPPY I DID!!! Kari greeted us with such warmth. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. I got to try it out and found the perfect firmness I was looking for. The LUXE 6. They also make a rounded latex pillow that cradles my neck. No more neck pain! The rest of the staff, including Shannon and Issac have been wonderful through the whole process. I couldn’t have asked for better people. I could have still gone online to purchase but the experience I had with Urban Mattress made the difference and I walked away a truly satisfied customer. I know it’s a large purchase but it has been worth every penny. I really do sleep better than I ever have. They both possess the ability to know when to be present, when to back off, offering their opinion and experience and how to strike up a conversation. Same day delivery for me. When setup, I realized right away that the foundation I had chosen wasnt going to work. I called them back up about a week later, and got their confirmation to swap it out with a different one at no charge... I recommend them highly, and hope them well.

Urban Mattress donated a $2000 voucher that was redeemable at their local stores to Austin Angels (a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of foster children and their families) that was auctioned off at a fundraiser. My wife and I were the successful bidder of this voucher. Soon after, we stopped by Urban Mattress’ North Capital of Texas Hwy location where Lauren Baer, the manager of that store, took excellent care of us. There was absolutely no pressure to buy. She was super patient and professional with us. If Lauren works on a commission, you would never have guessed it. It seemed genuinely important to Lauren that we took our time selecting the right mattress because she sincerely believed my wife and I would be sleeping on the mattress we eventually selected for more than 10 years because of ultra-high quality of Urban Mattress organic mattresses. In general I want looking forward to buying a mattress but it was time to get a new one. After reading several reviews, we decided to go to Urban Mattress and give it a try. We were in and out in what seemed like 20-30 minutes and hopped in the car without any of that buyers remorse feeling. Delivery was prompt, professional, and accommodating. The delivery guy even recommend vacuuming under the bed while I had the opportunity. I think they would have made the bed if I would have asked. A great place with great people to buy a quality mattress and/or frame. I stumbled in killing time with my daughter (because she wanted a cooling pillow) at near closing time on a Friday evening. The owner, Shane greeted me and we had a nice, easy-going conversation about the products. Went back a couple of weeks later and shopped with another cordial, kind and knowledgeable employee, Kari Matney. Never did I get the ick factor (or did it enter my mind) from zealous sales pitching. You might save a buck or two at a national chain store - I havent checked and dont care - Im happy to do business with people that CARE about their work and customers. If youre in the market for a mattress/frame upgrade, I dont know that theres any better place.

We ended up going with a Queen mattress that had a gel layer and felt similar to the tempurpedic, without the high $$$.The store has a funky vibe too and they even have beer on tap. We shopped all over town for an organic mattress in a California King size. Most stores were either not helpful, or tried to sell us something else (translation: what they had in stock, or what they were told to push!)Not so with this place. They listened, asked questions and directed us to the right choices. They handled the special order size quickly, and gave us two organic pillows to say sorry when the manufacturer delayed our order.I would shop there again in a second, and will the next time we need a mattress for our home.

Other sales persons at other stores just tried for the high pressure into the most expensive mattress, but that wasnt the case here. When they delivered the mattress, they didnt just take the old mattress out. They helped with the disassembly and rearranging of the other furniture necessary to make way for the new bed, even offering to move the old one to the second story if we wanted, though we declined. Very helpful and managed to manipulate the unwieldy mattress and frame without hitting walls or other items in the house.Good prices, prompt delivery, helpful staff. What more could you ask for?*** As of January 2013, Google maps does have the store in the wrong spot. Its across the street and west 1 block.

Couldnt be happier with the total turnkey experience we had at Urban Mattress. We were interested in TempurPedics, and the owner of Urban Mattress, Shane Deike, was simply wonderful in making the selection very easy and quick! After he explained to us the differences in the various models, we spent a few minutes laying on each mattress and decided on what Shane described as the newest, and coolest (in temperature) TempurPedic available, the Rhapsody Breeze... and we are SO happy we did! Shane was knowledgable, professional and beat every deal in the Austin area! The store made the whole delivery process simple and effortless, and they even hauled away our old mattress too! Shane had warned us that our new mattress might be a little extra-firm feeling for the first few days, and that there might be a slight odor to the brand new mattress but that both of issues would resolve within a few days - and he was right! Weve had our Rhapsody Breeze now for almost a month, and we love it! We have no complaints... its comfortable, not hot in temp as some people might tell you, was a great price, and Shane and his delivery guys were awesome to work with. When we are ready to replace our spare bedroom mattresses, we will use Urban Mattress again, without a doubt!
