Laura and Mike are the BEST EVER !!!! BEST SHOP I have ever been to and I have been to a Lot. I Had a Crack in Top of my Radiator and it was a Small leak but I noticed it had left residue all around my Radiator. So I work by Pro Tek and decided to give them my business. I drove in this morning talked to Laura and Mike and somewhat begged for them to try and get the Radiator replaced today and they made No promises as they did have to figure out if they had all right Parts Etc. and other jobs before mine. Well I got a Call a few hours later went over everything they found and got a price to fix ( which was GREAT ) but still didnt think they could get it done by 5:00 but low and behold I got a call about 4:40 it was done I was so ESTATIC it was done same day and a Great Thank you again to Laura and Mike !!!!

They are the sweetest at protek! I was impressed with how much work they did for my car in such a short amount of time. There was so many small things wrong with my car and the transmission needed to be replaced and they handled everything when other car shops couldn’t

One of the biggest things I look for in a shop is customer service and trust and unfortunately my experience with ProTek and my vehicle ended up being extremely unprofessional.I want to start off by saying I believe that they did quality work (but they definitely have certain types of vehicles they prefer working on) and hope that my experience was just a one off.To bring some context to the situation, I had taken my vehicle in after I had done some work on it myself to check on an issue that had arisen, a loud scraping and grinding noise that was unidentifiable.I had done my own research and given my opinion, but wanted an experts advice on the repair and what followed was very frustrating and ended up costing me thousands of dollars for what ended up a less than hundred dollar part and fix at another shop.I spent probably 6+ months being in and out of the shop multiple times, and being told every time I picked up my car the problem is fixed.Yet every time I drove off the lot there was no difference and the issue had not been fixed. I kept bringing the car back, had multiple ride alongs with techs and just felt that there was a disconnect happening between what the front desk was saying vs the actual problem.At this point is where I feel like they became very unprofessional, it felt like they didnt want to work on the car, or were willing to help.I was promised that I would get recommendations on what to work on next, that they were working on a solution and would go WEEKS without a phone call, update and again continued to take my car in and being told it was fixed and driving off the lot with the same issues.The last time I asked to bring it in, I was told I was going to get a phone call back and an update on the situation and then was ghosted. I had to call back weeks later and then was told, sorry we arent going to fix anything anymore, please take it to another shop.Herein lies my biggest frustration and what I felt was a super unprofessional experience.I would have rather been told we cant identify the issue from the beginning rather than being taken on a 6 month rollercoaster, spend thousands of dollars, never being called back or updated on my vehicle and then being told sorry bring it somewhere else AFTER I spent the money trying to fix it at their shop.I ended up not taking their recommendation and taking it to my old shop and tech in the city I was previously in, they told me it was a less than hundred dollar fix, had it fixed in less than a week and has been noise free since. Which opened another set of frustrations with me and kept me wondering if Pro Tek had actually been trying to fix the solution.I hope this was a one off experience, they seem like good people.Lauren at the front desk was helpful at times, but seem to over sell the customer service and there was always disconnect and a promise that never happened. ProTek seems to prefer to work on certain vehicles and thats okay, I would have rather been told that they didnt feel comfortable finding a solution on my vehicle than being led on a rollercoaster of dead ends.

Lauren was incredibly kind and helpful. I was nervous, but she made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions.

Pro-Tek went above and beyond to help me! I went in for DEQtoo to get my emissions checked. That process took all of 2 minutes. Beforehand I locked my keys in my car in their parking lot. 🤦‍♀️ Thank goodness I was there when it happened! Mike was very helpful and friendly and miraculously got my car door open. I can not say thank you enough! I would absolutely recommend this auto shop to anyone and everyone!!

Its not often you encounter such a terrific team, and this group are truly gems. Mike and his crew have helped me keep my older vehicle in great condition. They explain clearly what theyve found, whats recommended and why, and always try to keep costs down (shout out to Michael and Lauren!), Theyre efficient, and usually get the car back the same day. I discovered Pro-Tek while looking for a place close to home where I could get my DEQ inspection done easily. I called ahead to get the details and Shannon was friendly and helpful. When I went in an hour later, Matt took care of my inspection quickly. Im so glad I found Pro-Tek!

Stopped by for a DEQ test, no charge. Aside from the DEQ fee you pay online. Asked about a brake light being on and when I could come back for an appointment about it. Mike took a look real quick and then topped me off with brake fluid for free. The service was excellent, kind, helpful. And they were working on a full restoration of a 59 Bel Air which was just gorgeous. I’ll be back next week for some service maintenance on my other car and I’m looking forward to another great experience. Highly recommend.

The shop experience was great. I didnt need much but they were helpful, prompt and answered all my concerns. I will definitely use Pro-Tek in the future for my automotive needs.

These folks are great! They are part of the DEQ Too network, but unlike other shops, they DONT CHARGE a Device Usage Fee. Ill be taking all my repairs to them from now on.

ProTek, run by Michael and Katie, is a FANTASTIC shop and a truly community oriented organization. They are huge financial supporters of Howards Heart, a non profit aimed at helping youth in foster care, and could not be more prompt, considerate, or kind in their communication and generosity!! Additionally, Mike repaired some minor body damage to my car in about 5 minutes flat! He is so knowledgeable and professional. I could not recommend this shop more highly.

Growing up, my dad always took care of any auto problems. When I moved out of state, he told me I needed to find a mechanic that I could trust. It took awhile, but I can 100% say I trust the guys at Pro-Tek. If you have 10 things wrong with your car, they’re not going to hound you and make you fix everything for a hefty price. They know not everyone is made of money and will give you the brass tax of what needs to be fixed ASAP and what you can wait on. I recently had my transmission go out and they could have easily said, “yeah, get it fixed,” and made some money off me. Instead they were honest and told me it probably wouldn’t be worth it in the long run. They work with you, not against you. Which is hard to say of pretty much any other auto shop I’ve gone to.

We use Protek for all our personal as well as work vehicles. They are always so great at getting us in quickly and taking care of our issues. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest and reliable company they can trust.

Pro-Tek Automotive is one of the few places operating smog checks through Oregons DEQ Too partnership (a blessing during covid-19 shutdown). The smog check was FREE, completely hands-off, and took only a minute! MUCH faster than ever going to a DEQ owned and operated station.

Mike took care of my emissions test today and walked me through the process on the DEQ Too website. The process was very quick and he made sure to explain what happens after I submit the form and how the tags are used.Also, Pro-Tek does not charge for this service, which is awesome -- other places charge up to $40 (on top of the DEQ and DMV fees, that comes out to a lot of money).I will definitely consider Pro-Tek for my automotive needs in the future. Like most people Ive been to a lot of mechanic shops over the years. But Ive never found anybody I trust as much as these guys. They just finished up some pretty extensive work on my truck which included pulling the motor to replace some exhaust manifold bolts. As always, they did a great job and took care of a few other little things that they found along the way. If youre looking for an honest mechanic dont look any further this is the place!

I have a mid-90s BMW and have tried a few other German shops around Portland. Id say these guys know what they are doing, and Ive had positive experiences with them in the 4-5 times Ive had them do work on my car. Their quotes are very close to right on, so I havent had any nasty surprises with the bills. I have yet to find a better BMW shop. Despite the distance to get to them I feel the work they do is worth the drive.

Fast, courteous service. I got my DEQ done here in less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend it.

While they specialize in BMW, We have had only good experiences getting our Subarus and Hondas diagnosed and serviced here. I look forward to my visits as they always have truly fancy or classic cars on hand, more evidence of the trust they have earned. On premesis detailing, a separate business is also a plus.

About a month and a half late but was reminded of Pro-Tek Automotive and had to write a review. They have amazing service, prices and customer service. I was road tripping back up to BC from Mexico and stopped in Portland. I realized I needed an oil change and called a bunch of different shops to see if they could fit me in. Pro-Tek fit me in for first thing in the morning the next day. The staff there was amazingly friendly and fun to talk to. Especially their secretary Lauren who I had an amazing life talk with while waiting for my car. She has an amazing vibe and energy. I even got them to sign my car after as I was collecting signatures on my road trip. I found yours after Lauren and thank you, you and everyone at Pro-Tek are loved too. I have several cars serviced at Pro-Tek regularly. From an Oil-cooler on the M6, a 60k service on the X5, a full turbo swap and suspension setup on my Legacy GT, and just regular old oil changes; they can do it all! Mike and Bob are always straight with me about what I need and dont push unnecessary repairs. Very reasonably priced too! I was quoted over $250 for a cabin air filter at the dealer and they were able to do it for me for closer to $60! Great experience and I recommend them to all my friends.

Ive brought several of my cars here over the years. Always great customer service and the techs treat my cars as if they were their own. I usually do my own work, but sometimes youve got to leave it to the professionals - its these guys.

These guys are amazing, honest, and kind (benevolent); their customer service is outstanding. They assisted me during a very stressful time in such a way that even before they had resolved the problem (which they totally did resolve) my stress had gone away. Michael was excellent when I walked in. He helped me with estimates, looked at my car and assisted me with everything I needed. I felt confident taking my car here. Unfortunately, after having high hopes and a commitment to my car being finished at a certain time, no one called me when my car was done being worked on. I followed up after several hours and they forgot to call me. The man at the front desk mentioned that he had just had surgery, but if he is failing to do his job, he probably shouldnt be at work. My window was also left down for several hours after they were done with my car to the time I picked it up. I wouldnt go back, but I would recommend Michael as an employee.

I had a BMW 325XI wagon that they worked on. They timed it, and installed the intake manifold and a few other bits. At first i was quoted $600-700. When they were finished it was $1300! Double the price. I studied the invoice and noticed they charged me more than triple than I can get at the dealer. Bob was telling me it was a really good deal for those parts. He is full of lies, he tries to sweet talk and than stab your back. Then I noticed the car had a major oil leak, I had to bring it back twice until they actually fixed it, and then they tried saying the leak was from some other places. Terrible experience, full of rip offs. Never going back here again, and I would never recommend anyone coming here. Thieves and liars.

I just bought a 2002 540i and bought a pre-purchase inspection. Mike was so thorough, inspecting every inch of the car making my decision one of the easiest used car buying decisions I have ever made. After buying the car, Mike and the crew fixed everything found in the inspection for a very reasonable price. Now that I have had the car for a few weeks there havent been any more surprises. I had such a pleasant experience at Pro-Tek that I felt compelled to write a review, and I would recommend them to anyone needing auto repair, service, or upgrades. Thanks again Mike!

I never write reviews, but these guys were so, so, so, so, so, so bad..... I had the same experience as David. The price doubled, when I called them on it they accused me of dickering then eventually said they made a mistake by double charging me for a part that was really a part of the full assembly. This was after taking a month to replace a sunroof on our Audi. They returned it filthy, covered with greasy fingerprints on the liner and frame. They also broke plastic parts in the frame and dash. They explained that they had the new guy do it. (?) When I asked for the receipt for a battery we purchased from them, they had no record of my car in their system. I really dont see how they could get any worse. Bad, just really, really bad.

I brought my 2005 BMW X5 to Mike at Pro-Tek after my previous shop (the dealership) couldnt fix a problem with the sunroof. Pro-Tek was recommended to me and I couldnt be happier. Mike and the whole staff was professional, very responsive and listened to my concerns. They fixed my sunroof issue and I have since used them for other items that needed service. Pro Tek is the best. Ive been working with them for years - first with my 1992 Camry and now with my 2013 CRV. They are all good guys, exceedingly honest, way more affordable than the dealerships, and just generally a pleasure to work with. In particular, Ive been working with Pete for 8 years (since before he went to ProTek) and I cant recommend him highly enough. A++

My wife went in for an oil change and a check engine light. Technician recommended everything under the sun. Unfortunatelly my wife bit on the bait. That would have been fine except as we found out later their prices are 48% higher than other non-dealer BMW certified mechanics in PDX. Example is charging $206 for a battery plus another $110 for install!!! I called Kuni BMW to find out how much they charged to install a battery and they quoted me $75. If you thought the BMW dealer was expensive, you havent seen Pro-Teks prices.

Ive been using Pro-Tek for regular maintenance on my Toyota Highlander Hybrid for a couple of years and I have been very happy with their service. The real test that earns them five stars with me is not for my car, but for my significant others (S.O.s) car. S.O. had taken his car to two other mechanics for a mystery problem: the check engine light kept coming on, even after the problem was supposedly fixed. (BTW, you cant pass your DEQ emissions if the check engine light is on.) S.O. resisted my suggestion of taking the car to Pro-Tek, as the garage is so clean he thought they would be expensive - so in reply to the two one-star reviews from people who thought Pro-Tek overcharged them, all I can say is, Pay for Quality. The happy ending here is that Pro-Tek fixed the problem, and S.O. wishes he had gone there to begin with, which would have saved him what he spent at the two other mechanics.

Ive been taking my Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. to Pro-Tek for years and theyve always done great, solid work at a reasonable price. They typically have plenty of beautiful, sporty cars in the shop (Porsches, BMWs, race cars, an Aston Martin), but theyve always seemed to treat my average Jeep just like any of the fancier cars they service. I use my Jeep to drive my two young kids around, so its important to me that it is serviced properly; I feel completely confident with the safety of my vehicle after taking it there. My dad has been an auto mechanic for decades and I always took my cars to him until I moved several hours away from where he lives. I trust Pro-Tek with my car just as much as I do my dad. They are knowledgeable mechanics and they do their job exceptionally well. I highly recommend Pro-Tek for really any automotive need you have. They can do it all!

I have never written an on-line review; but, the nasty review of ProTek prompts me to action. Ive owned iconic automobiles for 50 years and am very picky about who works on them. The mechanics at ProTek are world class. They are skilled, straight-forward, and patient. Their diagnostic tools are state-of-the-art.ProTek has worked on eight of my autos over the last year. They include a Miata (engine rebuild), a Porsche 356 (electrical stuff), a Porsche Cayenne Turbo (100,000 mile service) a BMW X5 (bunch of stuff), a BMW 325 wagon (tune and other stuff), a Land Cruiser (fuel pump) and two Acura NSXs(100,00 mile service and various other things such as cranky windows, turn signals, etc.). The NSXs are supercars that will do 180 mph, so they have to be right.Many of these cars have over 100,000 miles on them. The Land Cruiser has 200,000 miles on it and the engine compartment looks factory fresh.Through all of this, Ive become friends with the ProTek mechanics. They work on some very interesting automobiles and enjoy informing and teaching their customers. I actually enjoy going there even though its usually going to cost me money.ProTek is in the same building as Luxe Auto and Gallager Detailing. Tim at Luxe Auto has sold me five of the seven autos and also resold three of them on consignment. I would be money ahead if I have followed his advice on buying several of the others. This is not a typical dealership; it is a joy to work with them.If you love your auto, and want it serviced well and right, ProTek is a excellent choice. One crack pot review should not soil the well deserved, great reputation of this shop.
