Had an issue with my truck that another mechanic could never figure out. Estimated a $140 diagnostic. Called me up and said, we figured out the problem, itll only cost you $75. Picked it up the next day and it ran great. Took them a couple hours to fix the problem, when my other mechanic took days/weeks and could never even diagnose it. Would totally recommend, and will definitely be using their services in the future.

Very professional and straight forward. They take great pics of your car that include problem areas but also areas that they want to acknowledge are in good condition. It makes for a really nice, concise portfolio of emergent and noncritical projects. Staff and mechanics just seem to be really nice people. Priced super fairly and always leave guarantees on their work. Glad that theyre my go-to shop.

I started using this shop because it’s an easy walk from where I live, and I’m so glad I did. I’ve never received anything less than exemplary service. The staff are all kind and informative and answer any questions I might have. I love that I get texts with links to my vehicle inspections, so I can see detailed information and photos of any necessary repairs and a list of everything that has been checked. The price tag is always less than I expect, and the work is always finished quickly. They have earned my loyalty for sure.

My 2015 F-150 had coolant leaking from the quick connectors on the turbo. Ford calls them quick connectors but its a ton of work to replace them, so I brought the truck in to K&M. I dropped off first thing in the morning and they had it ready for pick up by the next day. Ive now driven the truck across town quite a few times and everything is working great. I tow a trailer for work every day so I need this truck working properly, and K&M got me taken care of quickly, for a reasonable price. I own 3 F-150s for my business and I now have a mechanic I can trust if and when they need work again. Thanks K&M!

I was visiting Portland and noticed my car was making a weird sound so I took it in to get looked at. I have only had my car for 3 months and they had told me that I had damage to my front left wheel bearing and that my brakes and rotors for the front wheels were at 2mm. Obviously I got it fixed out of fear that my car wouldn’t make it home. Ended up costing near $1200 only to find out once I got home that the dealership I purchased the car from confirmed they had already replaced the brake pads and rotors prior to me purchasing the car. I also had my check engine light come on right after leaving because my wastegate for the turbo needed to be replaced, which was not mentioned anywhere on my diagnostic report they send when working on your car. Extremely disappointed and feel I was taken advantage of for being a young woman and not being familiar with the area or knowing of better service areas. Would give 0 stars if possible and hope others don’t make the same mistake I did.[edited] very unprofessional response, here are screenshots directly from the diagnostic report. As you can see, no check engine light on before they did work, no pictures of the “2mm” brake pads, and no pictures of the damaged bearing. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

These guys give top notch service to their customers. They really know their vehicles and will go above and beyond to make sure all problems are solved. My VW Tiguan has had complicated turbo issues for weeks now, but the whole K&M team has been 100% transparent about each issue they have found and has been very diligent in solving the problems. They even let me borrow a loaner car when I needed to leave my car with them for several nights. Not to mention all the staff is super friendly and proactive. Please give these guys a chance to help with all your auto needs.

I had a wonderful experience at K and M auto. All staff was extremely friendly, even the customers in the shop were friendly! Jackie helped me and was so nice and understanding. I wasn’t sure what exactly I needed and right when I told her why I was there she asked for me keys and got the job done immediately. I had a rough day and was not looking forward to taking my car in. Jackie made me feel relaxed and relieved to know my car was in good hands. Not to mention it was extremely quick. I appreciate the staff at K and M Auto and I recommend to everyone.

Came here less than 2 months ago to have our power steering worked on and we were very happy with the service. The young man at the front desk was very kind and helpful. I’ve actually recommended this place to several of my clients after working with him. He did inform us that our timing belt would be needed to be worked on in the near future. My partner dropped our van off yesterday morning to have it serviced and we assumed it was time to replace the timing belt, as previously recommended. K&M sends a full review of the vehicle via text and when we received the review, it said the timing belt was fine yet the power steering was damaged (even though we had just paid $500 less than 2 months ago for them to fix it) and now a another much more expensive procedure was required. The review also said that our AC unit was in fine working order (it hasn’t worked in 5 years) so obviously I was confused with the information that they provided. When I called to ask simple questions in regard to the contradictions in the review, Jackie spoke to me in a manner that blew me away. Keep in mind, I liked this place and planned on making this my new auto shop in town. She was so snarky and hostile that I could only reply “we will be there to pick up our car shortly”. When we arrived we had a bill of $145 for an oil change and for them contradicting themselves.Our van is older yet holds a lot of sentimental value so we are always willing to do whatever it takes to keep it on the road. We were previously very willing to give this company our money. Maybe Jackie needs to find a job out of customer service and maybe this place needs to figure out how to be more consistent and stand by what they say.

My brother, his friend, and I were headed to lunch when we noticed a scraping sound coming from the undercarriage of our car. After visiting two mechanics who could not help us and calling several others who would not work on a VW, we reached K&M. From the start, they were professional and friendly. It ended up being a simple fix for which they did not charge us. Their customer service was outstanding from start to finish. We will only ever go to K&M in the future. Awesome customer service. I took my vehicle in so that they could look at my lower ball joints and they corrected false information that Jiffy lube gave me saying that my ball joints were bad. Turns out that my ball joints were just fine. Wyatt even showed me detailed pictures of what a bad ball joint actually looks like . They saved me from spending money on an unnecessary repair!

This was my first time at this shop- the one on 50th. I could finally get my 30,000 mile work done, due to my stimulus check. I sort of panicked when I heard the price, as I still dont have unemployment. Jacqui helped me out, making some adjustments, so I could get the work done. They were quick, communicated well. and very very careful with sanitizing and social distance. I was so relieved and grateful, I passed on the goodness by donating to Meals on Wheels. UPDATE 2:Its been 1,000+ miles since they repaired a sensor in my van and replaced some hoses and did an oil change. My van went from choking and dying every time I let off the gas to running beautifully and not having a single issue. Highly recommend these guys, they did great work for me and Ill be going back. They were clear and upfront with their quotes, and did not go above the cost they originally promised. Very communicative and thoughtful.UPDATE 1:I am getting some of the issues that came up in the preinspection addressed here since their service and preinspection digital breakdown were so excellent. Despite some unexpected additional issues popping up (a faulty sensor) they have quickly helped me find solutions and have gone above and beyond to help me get my van road ready. Theyre very straightforward with the costs that I face so it is easy for me to be financially prepared. They let me drop off my van on a dime when a sudden issue came up. Wyatt has always offered kind and excellent customer service, and made sure I had a way home when my van needed the sudden repairs.Orignal Review:Currently in their waiting room as they do a preinspection for a car purchase for me. Ive been taking my Acura to K&M since 2017, and theyve always been super professional and helpful. Repairs usually come in under estimate, and if something doesnt actually need to be done, theyll tell you so. And when I had a tree branch stuck in my wheel well, they took it out for free :)

Took my car to Jon and he spent half a day to diagnose it, ordered the parts and fixed it in a day, spent about $1000 bucks. Jon is a true German Car enthusiast and loves his job. Very nice mechanics. The neighborhood sucks but the guys are great. I will be going back.

Went to get a estimate for my 60,000 mile tune-up thinking I would save a great amount after my estimate from my dealership. That wasnt the case. I have always taken my vehicle to the dealership for their guarantees on services. I decided to stick with my dealership.

The best part about K and M Auto service is the expertise the gals in the office offer. They really listen to all the things that I think are happening with my car, they ask detailed questions and write down notes for the mechanics. I receive very helpful information back from them. The impression their technological skills, organization, and overall savvy, gives is they are really on top of things. I love receiving the print out of what has been done to my car (with explanations) and what is suggested for my car the next time I come in.

We just purchased a very used car for our daughter and followed best reviews to K & M. My husband spoke with Jacqui who instantly understood the issues and worked to get the car in asap. They provided a detailed printout of the general diagnostic with prices and a list of urgent and not so urgent issues. We shopped their pricing and found they were spot on. My experience here was very pleasant. My car broke down on the interstate and I was able to get it towed to the shop and they started working on it right away. I had to get my radiator replaced and I was given a free loaner car to use while they were working. The receptionist was very kind and patient. She was very straight forward with costs as well as explaining exactly what was going wrong with my vehicle. Thank you!

K & M is fabulous. I didnt have an appointment for my last visit, they still had my cabin filter changed in less than an hour on a busy day. In this case, I was told I also needed new rear brakes - really will need new rear tires in the next 6 months. Quite a difference. And, their brake service is nearly 1/3 less than I was quoted elsewhere. I love this woman owned business!

K&M does everything right. Most importantly, they provide high quality service on vehicles. They are prompt, communicate clearly, contact me if they find issues that require more work, call when the work is done. They are more expensive than chain auto service shops, but they are worth it. Quality maintenance is much cheaper (and safer) than having your car fail prematurely.

I have used this shop for my older land cruiser for several years. K & M was recommended to me by a friend. I have not been disappointed. I find them knowledgeable and professional in their work. I like the reminders they send and I like making appointments on line. They respond promptly with a confirmation or an adjustment.

The folks here are friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. Ive had a number of small fixes done and they were kind enough to not charge me (very small things like fixing a clamp on my coolant, or loose wiring with an O2 sensor). The other fixes Ive had done were reasonably priced and done quickly and done well. They really seem like theyre interested in customer service and not having to pay more than you need to (which is a miracle for a mechanic), while maintaining a high standard for quality. Definitely recommended.

K & M is my favorite repair shop in Portland. My daughter recommended them to me and Ive been going there since I moved here 8 years ago. They never do extra things without explaining​ things to me. The staff are awesome and keep me updated on the progress. I give them an A+!!!

I went in to replace my brake lights and an oil change. The atmosphere is immediately welcoming and the service was quick. Without an appointment, I only waited about 45 minutes before being on my way. Also, my oil change included a maintenance inspection and was very reasonably priced---just a few more bucks than Jiffy Lube (where I have had mediocre experiences at best). I Will definitely be getting my car serviced here from now on.

I had a very good experience with K&M. I had an annoying sound in my car so I took it to Dick Hannah and they had no clue what they were doing. First they said it was bc my trunk was full. No. Then I had them do a $2k repair which still didn’t solve the problem. They still had no clue what they were doing. I took it to K&M they laid out all my options and helped me pick the best solution for the problem. And guess what they fixed it! My car is so smooth now and no sounds. They were very transparent with their repairs and helped educate me on all the options for fixing my car. I will never go back to Dick Hannah again for my Dodge repairs. I can’t trust them. K&M is where it’s at I will continue to take my car here for the rest of its time.

I had my service from K&M a few weeks back after divorcing my previous mechanic over their obstinacy, and things seem to have gone pretty well. K&M seems to have been able to correctly diagnose what my ex-mechanic didnt. Communication was great, so I felt like I knew what was going on. The fix was pretty pricey, which Im OK with, but Im reserving my fifth star until Ive got some hours logged on the system K&M repaired so I can make sure it was a correct and durable fix. But, otherwise, Ill be returning.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!! Charged 125 for a fuel filter which they didn’t install correctly. Tried charging almost 900 for a radiator replacement which is a $3-400 repair.

K&M has gone above and beyond for us every single time we bring our tour vehicle in. With our van being a significant part of our livelihood, they make sure everything is in perfect working condition to keep us safe on the road. They’ve been extremely trustworthy and reliable, and with a vehicle that has over 320,000 miles that’s running like new, I’d say they’re doing something right. Thanks K&M!!!

K&M is a top notch auto shop that has taken the best care of my trucks over the last four years. Jacquie and crew have always been upfront and honest about the work theyve done for me. I just had the oil changed in a new vehicle and after I was sent a text with a link to a webpage with the full report. The report provided a grading scale for all fluids and inspection points, made my life easy and a great visual of where my truck was at maintenance wise. Dont pay high fees at the dealership OR the quick oil change places, come to K&M and go home knowing the job was done right and you understand the service!!!

Would not recommend to my friends- very disappointed in the work - was sent on my way with a loose drive shaft -and as another sign of low quality control- when my center console was taken apart the mechanic was too lazy to remove it in the correct order and cracked a portion of it by prying excessively to remove it-- absolute waste of money

I recently had some issues with my BMW and it randomly not starting. I took it to a mechanic in Portland that I had used before and was treated HORRIBLY to say the least. I decided to then take my car to K&M Auto on 50th. Upon receiving my car, Jackie, the receptionist was prompt to give me a call and let me know they were looking at it. Upon discovering what was wrong, Jackie once again called to give me and update about my car. I am totally clueless when it comes to cars so everything sounded so overwhelming. Jackie explained everything and answered all of my questions. She also took the time to tell me what my options were as far as what absolutely should be done and what would just be beneficial. She was AMAZING! I just ha to write a review because this was such a great experience! My car runs perfectly now thanks to Keenan. I really appreciate the work that was done and the environment that was provided. I will 100% go back and recommend them to everyone I know!

Was having some misfiring issues with my older Volvo. The car had a spark plug stuck in the engine, which I had been afraid to replace myself and potentially strip the threads. They were able to give me worst-case scenario costs in case the threads did strip, but were able to remove the spark plug without any issues! The old brick is running fine again and the bill was reasonably priced. Would use them again in the future, great customer service.

Wow. Just wow. Im coming from New York, so maybe Im just used to jerky mechanics, but the people here and the service was FANTASTIC. I will be coming back for sure.And I have come back, twice actually, for different things. They are just amazing and friendly.

Amazing customer service, knowledgeable, trustworthy and kind. I made a big mistake trying to fix my own car. Realizing I was in hot water, I gave K&M a call. They helped me diagnose my situation over the phone, and then squeezed me into their work schedule the afternoon before 4th of July weekend. They made a speedy repair and got me on my way. Not the cheapest shop in town, but you get what you pay for. If you want a job done right by knowledgeable technicians and pro service managers, this is the shop.

I cant say enough good things about these folks. Not only do they do a great job at what you ask them to do, they look at your vehicle to screen for potential problems. They have graciously answered my questions so I can make better decisions about the care of my car including suggestions and recommendations about regular maintenance needed to plan for in the future. Great service, quality work!

I got a $20 off coupon for which was also good for an oil change. I called into the shop to see how much the job would cost with the coupon and the front desk said it was normally $20 but with the coupon it would be free. I thought this was a great way to try out a new shop and see what there advertised 5 star service looked liked so I schedule an appointment. When I pulled into their 50th Ave shop their driveway about takes off your bummer which I observed other customers experienced this same issue when driving in. Once I got to the front counter I was informed that the oil change was going to be $35 normally and with the $20 coupon then the final cost would be $15. I was very disappointed and asked for the phone quote to be honored since that is why I made the appointment. Consumers beware of this coupon in your mailbox. If a store will be dishonest to get in then what will they do when they are working on our car? Will the work be done correctly? Will they take you on the price? I will not be returning to this shop and do not recommend them. Honesty and making your quote good should be top.

My husband was little bit afraid to give them our F-150 because we been to two different mechanics and they said you have to go to dealer to find out whats the problem. After we visited the shop I talk to my husband and said I do trust them for some reason. I believe they gonna be able to find out whats the problem and will fix it. So we decided to give it a try and glad we did. They fixed our F-150 and its so quiet now, like it used to be. Only regret that we been to different shops and spend money for something that wasnt a problem. So thank you K&M for your hard work. Believe me if they said they will fix it, they will...😊

Wowza! My wife and I have been bringing al our cars for service and repair for 5 years!Jackie and Wyatt are just the best help. We have never been over charged. Always straightforward, honest, and reliable for quotes and work needed or not.Quality of work is outstanding and has save us $1000’s compared to Toyota and VW dealership prices! Wow!Once my car died on the way to bring it in for regular maintenance and they sent a tech to me and got me to their shop without me having to pay for a tow!Just can’t speak highly enough of them. I had some car problems that needed to be fixed right away. I went to K and M thinking they were professional. They did a quick error code test. Found out what the error codes were and then took car in for a further testing. Came back with a few simple fixes. $92 in parts over $500 in labor. I needed my car so I went ahead and had it done. Not 20 minutes after I left from the shop the same thing was happening again. I read the original repair report and it said the necessary fixes would clear the codes. Thats all they tried to do, clear the codes. Not fix the problem. I wanted to bring it back to them, force them to fix it but in the end I knew they wouldnt do it for free. Their warranty on the fixes only applied to the fixes that would clear the code for which was not cleared in the first place. I decided not to take anymore chances on these guys because Im pretty sure I know what the problem is and it would cost more than I have. I decided to do it myself. The part is only $52. Its a hard job but Ill probably save over a $1000 in labor. In conclusion, they were arrogant when I called 20 minutes after I left the shop to report that it was doing the same thing again. They said bring it in tomorrow. I work. I dont have time to run back and forth to their shop to give them the hard earned money I made to not fix my car.

I have been taking my Dodge pickup to K&M for a few years now for regular service, and repairs when needed. Jacquie, Sue and the team are always extremely friendly and responsive, and do an excellent job of staying on top of my old truck.I have never had to wait to bring the vehicle in when it develops a problem, and they have an awesome online system which shows me photos of the problem, outlines the repairs necessary (as well as those which the technician thinks might be prudent), and outlines the costs. They even paid the towing charge on the truck one time when it developed a problem which took more than one visit to solve.If necessary, they provide a free loaner vehicle, which makes the whole process much easier. When I brought my car in with multiple problems, the lovely folks at K and M Auto were extremely helpful. They patiently explained the issues without making me feel foolish about my unfamiliarity with mechanical issues and let me make my choice about how to fix things without pressure. My truck was making a clanking noise when either of the front wheels would hit a pot hole. I do my own maintenance whenever possible but my own inspection didnt find the issue. I took the truck by K & M at 9am and had a call by noon saying the nuts on either side of the sway bar had come a little loose and tightening them had fixed the clank. I was expecting to pay for some labor since they had put the truck on a lift and inspect the front suspension but they said there was no charge and to have a great day. Everyone was really pleasant to deal with and they turned my truck around quickly. If an issue pops up in the future n one of my vehicles, it will be going straight to K & M.

We recently brought our car in for routine service, and I casually mentioned that my i-phone charger cord didnt seem to be working in the cigarette lighter outlet of the car. They offered to take a look, to see whether it was the car or the cord that was the problem. I really thought I had to buy a new charger cord, or that our trusty Subaru had developed another sign of old age. When I returned to pick up the car, not only was the car fine, but they had diagnosed a dead fuse in the phone charger cord and fixed it for no charge. I love that they thought outside the box, and did it so efficiently too! I also love the calm atmosphere of the place even when theyve got a lot going on, nothing like the car dealerships service department.

At first I gave them a 5 star after my first visit, but I am not sure why. The tech who was said to be new told me I needed $950 worth of work done and I gave the okay to do it. It was said to be done in two days. I received a call back the day my car was to be picked up and was told none of the stuff that I thought was done on my car already was even needed. Then I got a whole new list of things that was said to be needed to be done at around the same cost. Once again, I gave them the go ahead to do the fixes. I then picked up my car after the fixes and the noises remained.After going back three times and $1600.00 later my problems and noises all remained. They did give me a discount on the third visit, which was appreciated.Not sure what they even fixed on my car though?I told them I was going on a road trip and needed everything repaired that was necessary. They fixed things that were making noises and I didnt even make it to Pendleton, OR from Portland before ALL noises came back. Three hours into my 17hr road trip all problems remained. Thank goodness for AAA.I really enjoyed the people here and felt they were genuine right away, but the front desk lady told me there was 100% chance the noises would not return after my third visit. Three hours later on the highway the noise came back even louder than before.The tech that worked on my car seemed so wonderful though.Over all,Glad to never return here.

Took my car here to get a general inspection before a 3 week road trip. Got a same day appointment, everyone I met was kind and helpful, they found nothing wrong with the car, AND they charged $0 for the inspection. I would absolutely go back.

They told us we needed $1280 worth of brake system work. So glad we got a second opinion. Only $80 to fix the problem. Also claimed our battery needed replacement. Battery scan came back great at second opinion. Truly disgusting greed. We are a struggling family on one income.

This shop is amazing. They get you in quick. I always feel like I can trust their judgement. Ive had other places where I felt like I was being taken for a ride on service and prices. Not these guys. Three years ago brought in vehichle for basic tune up. two weeks later they confess they messed up and are installing a new engine at no cost. oooook.2000 miles later vehicle will not pass emissions, tune up again. this time they tell me, oh no you didnt get a new engine, just a top end.ooooook?!this time, after 600$ of diagnosis, problem is a stuck cylinder. or valve or something. It should have been replaced either by new engine or top end, either way it should be their responsibility.ooook?!now quoting $700 more to remove valve cover and do more testing.not willing to compromise on price or take responsibility for the problem.very poor service.technically they are in the right, ethically, no way.youve been warned. they broke my engine, and now are trying to charge me for internal problems after only 2000 miles.

I drove to Portland from New York and my front wheel bearing started to go bad so I called a few places non of which got back to me or were friendly. Finally I got in touch with K&M and everyone there was extremely nice and professional and even with a full lot of cars to repair they had me out by the next morning early. If I was living here they would be my mechanics of choice

50th Avenue location and its team are fantastic! I called K and M out of the blue (after reading other peoples reviews on here) and asked if they had time for me to bring in my car the same day to check out why it was overheating. I expected Jackie to tell me there was no way they could fit me in, but instead she said yes, bring it on in and set an appointment for 1pm that afternoon. After a last minute meeting cancellation, I called and asked Jeff if I could come in withing the hour and he still said, no problem, see you soon! They were still able to get me right in and back on the road just a few hours later.I was pleased that they did a complete diagnostic prior to any work and asked my opinion and most importantly, if I had any questions. The repair was reasonably priced and I do feel that I was treated very well.Thank you so much for the hospitality and the fast / smooth service. I will be back!

They told me that my brake hose was leaking and I needed to tow my car to my mechanic because it was not safe. It ended up being water, not brake fluid. They were going to charge me $500+ to do a job I didnt need. Never going back.

Always honest and helpful! We are working on keeping my aging truck alive without draining my pockets. I feel they are a partner in this endeavor.

Sure wish I would have.EDIT: replying to Matts response to my comment: Yes, obviously had an issue with your shop. It’s actually going to take me months to pay off the money I spent unnecessarily due to your bad diagnosis. Already tried resolving the issue with your staff directly but it was made very clear that once K&M has your money, they couldn’t care less about you and that the folks there are more than happy to twist and revise their explanations for their unnecessary work until you just give up. Shady and gross.Ignoring B&B complaints? Yeah, that matches up pretty well with the “we don’t care about your complaints” vibe I got from K&M.
