This place is easily my favorite place to do business. High quality products for comparable prices- plus becoming a member allows you to accumulate dividends to use at the end of each year; PLUS allows you to shop from their garage sale which are items brought back. Oh yea, and they are AMAZING about returns and fixing any issues... and guaranteeing their products. (Bought my daughters bike there and its free to have adjusted etc.) Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Really its like toys r us for adults who love outdoors/ nature.

My wife and I had are going on our first camping trip together this weekend. We stopped in to pick up some last minute items along with some hiking boots. Mark was a huge help in educating us on the different boots, and was so courteous with allowing us to try several pairs until we were truly comfortable. It is not often that you meet someone in retail so genuinely excited to help and loving their work environment. We really appreciated how thoughtful and creative he was with trying to think of the right shoe for my wife who is rather particular. We loved our experience and felt like we became a member of the REI club, instead of just being customers. Thanks Mark!!

Great staff. Good selection of outdoor camping gear. Manufactured camping stuff is pricey anywhere you go and this is no exception. Get the basic stuff you need and figure the rest out on the trail or during the weekend camping trip.

This review is mainly a shout-out for the staff. We love REI and go all the time. This afternoon, we went specifically to purchase a sofa-size camping chair (Kelty has the best one) and a carry-on (Osprey is an excellent option). Employee “Jeff” sat with us for a “campfire chat” to help us choose our Kelty. He was personable and knew all about the camping chairs. Another staffer, my apologies for not knowing his name, took the Kelty to the register for us, so we could continue to shop without having to carry it. He also helped us with our carry-on decision. He really knows Osprey products. A third staff person recommended we check out their garage sale section. He thanked us at least three times for coming in. The kind lady at the register talked dogs with us and even showed us a darling pic of her dog, taking the time to look at a photo of our fur “children” as well. I wonder if REI employees are so pleasant because they’re outside all of the time at parks hiking when they’re not working, or if it’s just a great company to earn a paycheck. I’m hoping it’s both. Thanks to everyone that helped us on 10/9/21, and thanks to REI for having a great selection of outdoor products. Love this company!

This is a really good REI. All of the staff are pleasant and eager to answer questions.

Staff was super helpful with finding and fitting backpacks. Helped me pick out other gear and gave me lots of useful information when deciding on certain items to get. They were super helpful and didnt try to force me to store REI brand items over other brands. Unlike other retailers, they care about customers!

If youd like outdoors you know about to REI. Its a membership based organization that gives discounts to its members although I dont really see the value behind it because I dont see it as a large discount in the first place but you get to enjoy things and new member-based programs that are available. The only issue is obviously youre going to have a higher price point because it is a brick and mortar store and so whatever savings they tout that theyre going to give to you really you dont find. But the collection is worth looking especially depending on what youre looking to do outdoors.

I wheeled my wifes bike in to get help replacing a tube and possibly the tires and Matt greeted my at the tech desk with the best hospitality. The other staff members were also really nice as well. Matt taught me a bunch of stuff I didnt know about bikes, walked me through the basics, and we fixed the wheel together. Great experience. Ill be sure to come to REI more often in the future! 👍

Staff is SUPER helpful. They were so patient with me when I picked out my sleeping bag and hiking shoes. Limited hiking shoe/boot selection left due to Covid related shortages and delays so they may not have your size - but staff was very knowledgeable and they all use the equipment and gear on their own outdoor adventures so can vouch for different styles etc.

They give false shipping estimates on their website. If you need something just order it from Amazon who gives accurate times.When I ordered the website said it would be delivered Friday. After the order went through the tracking estimate was Saturday. Now it is Friday and the tracking has been changed to delivery on Monday. I suspect by Monday I will have a new date. Completely unprofessional.

Fyi they just started requiring masks as of today. They have them at entrance. Store is great staff is friendly. I recommend this if you need something in a pinch. Prices were on average 10-20% higher then Ive seen online for latern fuel and Benchmade knives. If you can Id also buy online for pick up as item I wanted was out of stock , but they did have similar item that worked for today.

This was my first visit great place lots of cool hiking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing stuff I just wish they had one closer to were I live. Staff was very nice and helpful had a large selection of everything didnt really find what I was looking for but I think it was a order only item but I was impressed over all with the store. If you like the outdoors visit this place the definitely have stuff you will like.

Ryan was new but extreamly knowledgeable and helped me pick the perfect trail running shoe for my upcoming hikes in Colorado. He did an amazing job helping me get the right fit and selecting the right shoe. The rest of the staff was also very helpful in the other departments. Amazing place to get your outdoor gear! Same prices as Amazon except you can try it on, feel it then if you dont like it you can take it back. 100% recommend!

It seems like the prices just keep going up here, everyone that works there is friendly & very helpful. Love the rewards, Its just crazy to say I saw a pair of shoes there for 170$, same pair somewhere else 110$. Why a 60$ difference, I mean its not like Aliens in China are making them.

Need to re-evaluate the mask policies! Discriminating against people with special needs is NOT ok! We’ve shopped at REI a lot in the past, but I’m ashamed to say that now! My son faces an extremely uphill battle in a lot of areas, but I’d expect a store to be a little more sensitive. And then to be told that I wasn’t wearing an “acceptable” mask. Forget it... I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

Why is the process of checking out so infuriatingly slow at this place? There were 4 registers open when I was there, and only 3 people in line ahead of me, but it took 25 minutes for any of those registers to open up. The cashiers were more engaged in meandering conversations with the customers than in getting people checked out. If theres anything a business needs its efficiency in how it collects money, but that seems an afterthought here. And of course they want to engage everyone in the membership speech. Heres an idea: just ask people if theyd be interested in hearing about membership and then move on quickly to checking them out if theyre not. Stop wasting multiple peoples time trying to sell memberships. Overall thus is a nice store that represents niche products you wont easily find in this range of quality and quantity anywhere else. For the once every few years I need some of that, I tolerate their process.

I’ve been a customer for years, but I think I’m done after they harassed my special needs toddler for not wearing a mask. Have some common sense people. You lost out on hundreds of dollars of sales from us today.

For an REI located smack-dab in the Midwest, this location has a great selection of items, whether it be clothing, camping equipment, climbing gear, or bike parts and accessories. Ive never had complaints at this store and they have gotten quite a bit of my coin.

They were the only people I could find that had climbing shoes !! They had a big selection of shoes, harnesses, chalk bags, carabiners, and other climbing necessities. The lack of conscious thinking around this laughable, vanilla retailer is borderline offensive.How can any sane person even think that discontinuing carrying a great brand like Camelbak is even rational? The parent company, Vista Outdoors, just happened to also own a gun brand with NO CO-MINGLING ASSETS. Let me translate this: In no way does Camelbak operations nor business function pertain to the gun brands that Vista owns. They are completely separate.Yet, Oh wait, but guns are bad. So if they also own a gun brand, then theyre bad too, so we should hurt our bike clientele because it just feels like the right thing to do.Relinquished my membership forever and wont be looking back. Do everyone a favor and shop locally. This place is a fear-ridden joke!

Good place sometimes pricing high but if youre a member get a rebate every year so it makes it cheaper in the end. Plus, no one can beat their 1 yr return policy.

This is the best site in the Cincinnati area for outdoor gear and clothing. You can find some decent deals if youre patient and stop in regularly. If youre a hiker, biker, runner, walker, or just like to be in the great outdoors, this is a fun store to shop in.

I ordered a jacket from them online and it was a size to big, so i called their customer service number online to exchange it and they told me that I had to return it and spend my own money for a shipping label.. and then to re purchase the new item. So then I called this store seeing it is only 30 minutes away, and they told me that they wouldn’t honor the price I paid on THEIR website! This was shocking because usually when you purchase something from a retailer and call their customer service to assist with an exchange they are usually very helpful and take care of everything for you. But at REI they don’t seem to care or treat you like a human being. So very disappointed and will shopping for Patagonia elsewhere!

I love REI and while still living in California, I used to go there after long days at work as a little reward to myself. Often taking my dog along with me. Hanging out at REI, looking at their stuff, day dreaming about a new adventure... its more than a store. And I always used to find gifts for myself, friends and family, even if I hadnt planned on buying. More than anything, I love REIs service and their (usually) friendly staff.But while this applied to every other REI I ever went to, I got kicked out at the Cincinnati location because my dog is not a service dog. It was a long day at work today, and this really killed it for me. It was my after work treat. I nor my dog were bothering anybody, just quietly browsing, hardly any customers in the store. :(

There is no better place to get your hiking, camping, biking or any other outdoor gear. They have the largest selection in Cincinnati with a staff of true experts to answer any questions you may have about the gear before you buy it. This post regards bike shop only - not overall store:2 childrens bikes needed brakes checked and modified (prior to being given as a birthday gift). Called one day prior to check on whether they could complete service the next day (a Tuesday). They replied that it would be about 30 minutes (give or take depending on traffic) ... at worst a couple of hours.This was wonderful news as they were close to my home and a quick bike repair in the summer is never a sure thing ... anything that was even the same day was awesome.The next day I walked the bikes into the store. They remembered my inquiry - so far so good. On to the check in process (log me into system, etc.) took about 15 minutes - a bit lengthy as there was no one in front of me, but Im probably being a bit picky on that score.At the end of the check-in process I was informed that the repairs would be completed in two days. Two. Days. very different from the 30 minutes to a couple of hours relayed to me over the phone. No explanation offered for why the difference. Extremely frustrating - could easily have been handled over the phone.I cannot say anything about the quality of the repairs as I was fortunate to find another shop able to do the job within a couple of hours. In general - if youre in the store, you can probably rely on their time estimate. Any estimate provided over the phone (even if from the shop) is likely not good.I do not believe that I was lied to (wait time would be a silly thing to lie about), only that the person with whom I spoke over the phone was unwilling or unable to check the system and provide an accurate wait time.

Love this place. I have been shopping at REI for years and I was thrilled when they opened one in Cincinnati. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Prices tend to be a bit higher than you can get elsewhere, but the customer service (return policy) more than makes up for it.

REI has to be one of the best chain stores for outdoor apparel. The staff all seem to be hikers, climbers, backpackers, kayakers, bikers, or some other form of outdoor enthusiast. they are probably the best location to go to find a broad selection of what youre looking for as well as people who most likely used every form of that product. If they do not know, they will find somebody on their staff that does. They also have an amazing return policy that is very beneficial for finding the appropriate shoes for outdoor adventures. Also being a member is a big perk if youre shopping there regularly.

I came in for hiking boots. Staff was excellent, they just kept bringing different sizes and styles until I found the perfect pair. Not once did they seem annoyed. They were genuine in making sure that I was satisfied. I will shop here for all my hiking needs.

Perfect store for the average Hyde Parker. Most Hyde Parkers will look like an REI catalogue during the cooler months. Plus they get to feel above other people because the clothing is so expensive here! Win win!
