The first run in I ever had with them I didnt write a review. Todays visit my meat looked as if its been sitting from earlier today. My fish taco was bland and cold. Two things were good the customer service and the steak meat being seasoned good.

I wanted to like this so much more… but the steak tacos were soooo chewy. I thought the steak was going to be a bit more grilled and cooked, but it was kind of pale and cold like it hadn’t been cooked down well at all (or recently). I don’t know what cuts of meat they were using, but when I looked down there was something circular like a nipple on the meat and I just couldn’t stomach the rest. Ended up throwing it all out. I was hoping for a bit higher quality given the $4.25 for one taco. Maybe I’ll try again, the lady working was super nice but yikes. :( fish taco wasn’t much better. Super soggy and no flavor. Low stars because of the food, not the atmosphere or staff.

Everything is sooooo good. There’s a roasted creamy red pepper sauce that is a must have. Yummy yum yum

This is a sad excuse for Mexican cuisine! So much better in the area! I saw the semi bad reviews but I walk by this place all the time and had to give it a chance. It’s definitely seems like a place you would go at night when you are drunk and that’s it! I tried the chicken and steak taco. Chicken was awful - so dry it was unbelievable! Even the tortillas were not fully warmed up! The steak was decent at best but the chicken left a really nasty flavor. Never coming here again and please go somewhere else! So many other places that are awesome!! Also $7 for two tacos seems ridiculous! Especially for how bad they are. Never again!

Amazing food!!! Get the burrito bowl! It comes in a crispy tortilla bowl with rice and beans and grilled chicken (if thats the protein you choose) and you can add quac, tomatoes and more!!!! DELICIOUS!!!!

Best carne asada burritos in Chicago

We really enjoyed our chicken and steak burritos. The meat was fresh and flavorful, despite us being the only patrons in the restaurant. Dining area was well lit, clean, and temperature controlled; we will definitely be back again.

I visited this fine establishment on a Friday and was astonished with their performance. As I come home to open my to go mother clucker(chicken burrito) I am greeting with this bomb of flavor first bite. It’s sweet and savory taste leaves you speechless and exited for the next bite. Great place, the burrito is worth it.

Ate here for the first time today and loved it! Your tacos are made fresh, so expect a little bit of a wait, but you’ll be so satisfied at the end. The fire roasted vegetable tacos were great

The food was excellent as usual. My go to order is the Burrito salad bowl with tequila lime marinated chicken. It doesnt just come in a bowl, it comes in a fried crispy tortilla bowl!!! This just adds to the overall experience of the meal. This time I also tried a chorizo taco. I have to say that this was the best chorizo taco I have ever tasted. And I cant wait to have another!!!! Got their Chicago Best award winning buritto The Mother Clucker. It was quite good but flavour wise it tasted like there was still something missing. Not quite sure what the big fuss was about. I will say though that it was definitely very filling and that one buritto was enough for the two of us as our lunch (and we normally have quite big appetites.)

There are a lot of amazing Mexican joints in West Town but for burritos I would now recommend Carbon. So many choices, but all have been stellar so far. Great phone service as well, and plenty to suit any needs with multiple types of salsas, chips, sauces and more. Favorite so far: steak fajita burrito.

Good tacos and a good prices

The staff here was extremely friendly & the food was delicious. The carne asada was cooked well, not too salty or overcooked although I found the chicken to be a bit dry. They had the most mouth watering selection of in house made sauces ranging from hot, to mild, sweet to raosted pepper. My favorite was definitely the sweet pineapple corn one! 😋

Fast service for take out! The fajita chicken burrito is pretty delish, definitely make sure to get some of the red pepper sauce!

Medium rare steak tacos, yes, it’s as good as it sounds. Tons of good salsas. Their delivery and pickup is fantastic as well. Summer in the restaurant is nice as you can sit in the little garage in a nice booth.

We used Carbon catering for our wedding rehearsal dinner, and it was a huge success. I ordered dinner for 40 about 5 weeks before the event. There were many options to personalize the meal, to get exactly when we wanted.I opted for the “Classic Catering” option with steak, chicken, and fajita veggies. It came with flour and corn tortillas, onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, flour and corn tortilla chips, several kinds of salsa, and MORE! We also ordered guacamole, which was a huge hit! I ordered the exact number of servings for the number of people at the event, and I had 1.5 trays of meat and TONS of toppings left over (best lunches EVER). Plan more than one 6 ft table to serve the food.Every single guest RAVED about the food - everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. I had guests who were vegetarian, vegan, and steak-lovers, and every single one of them LOVED the options that Carbon provided us.The only thing that didn’t go off perfectly was the paper plates- we ran out of plates after everyone had their first plate. Especially since there were chips/salsa/guacamole, we could have used more plates. It was a minor inconvenience, and I think I was the only one who noticed.

The steak fajita burrito is amazing! The food tastes great and very fresh. The steak was perfectly cooked and actually tastes like real meat because of the quality and way it is cooked. Somewhat pricey, but definitely worth the meal. Order came with black beans and rice which was pretty good as well. Small, cozy spot. I will definitely be making another stop here when Im in the area.

Overpriced food for intoxicated patrons. I can make a better steak taco for ¢25 but they charge $4.99 for a miniature steak taco. I’d recommend packing a pb&j with for your excursion.

I had the steak tacos and there was a good amount of meat on each one, but not worth $11.95 for 3 tacos with just onion and cilantro without any sides. The steak was cooked nicely, but could have used some more flavoring. The corn tortillas were very good.

This is the Mexican fast-food Taco Bell wish it could be. Its authentic and high quality while being affordable and fast. The dining area is clean and cozy and a fun place to eat out for less than a sit-down restaurant.

Carbon is a small BYOB burrito and taco spot tucked away off Chicago Avenue, but it stands out once youre in the area. I wasnt expecting the indoor area to have a whole separate section where the windows open, but it was a nice surprise and a fun spot to eat and chill. The chicken taco salad bowl was great. They have both red and green sauces and horchatas. Go to the bathroom before or after you visit though because it is tiny and not the cleanest.

If you want steak - pay more. *burrito size is the smallest i ever had!* all i could taste was sweet weird taste of chicken and onion. I didnt see any cabbage in it. Havent been in over a year and man it has gone downhill the steak used to be the highlight of my visit but tonights burrito was chewy, lacking of flavor, and just disappointing. For $12 after tax I could have gotten a much better meal elsewhere. Sad I used to love Carbon.

I ordered the burrito salad bowl with talapia, it was very delicious and fresh! We brought our own beers from Forbidden Root. I only ate half of the bowl so I feel 2 meals for about $10 was a great deal!

I think Carbon served me the best steak burrito Ive ever had in my life, and I dont say that lightly. The quality of the meat is high and cooked perfectly when you order. You can really taste the fire it was grilled on in the tender steak, and I mean that in the best way possible. The corn is sweet and pairs with the meat fantastically. I can go on and on about all the items Ive tried there, but you really just have to go in and try for yourself. Price is a little higher ($12.50 for the stelote, my favorite) but understand you are paying for a premium item that is well worth the extra few bucks. I will certainly be a recurring customer from here on out. Five Stars!!

This is an office lunch favorite for my lil department. Food is good, hot, timely, and everyone loves the fish tacos. I will always an order a Mother Clucker because it is at least two delicious meals. The quesadillas are big. Best perk is the mixed chips for sharing.
