Flying Saucer is hands down one of the best brunch spots in Chicago. Locally-owned and I’ve been a frequent visitor for 10+ years. The staff is amazing and the food is wonderful. Friendly for vegetarians too! They are cash only, but have an ATM for anyone to use. This place is so special and I hope you check it out when you’re in the area!

Did a Google search for vegan food before adventuring with a friend. They had just enough space for me at the counter. I had the Cuban coffee to get me up and moving and it was super tasty.I went for the breakfast burrito with soy chorizo included, home fries on the side. I was surprised by the kale and other veggies in there, but they were a great addition. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back.

Went for breakfast and really enjoyed it. I had an omelette and it was perfectly cooked! It wasnt dry or greasy. Needed a bit more veggies, but the amount if goat cheese was great and not overpowering. The veggies were sauteed and delicious! We had the sampler plate, it was great as well. The coffee is so good, just wish they had decaf, due to medical reasons. But they were accommodating and added some water. It was still strong flavored, it is Metropolis coffee.Well definitely be back. Wanted to try the vegan cinnamon swirl muffin, but was too full. Wait staff was very friendly and continued to refill our coffee!!

I need to warn ppl that their outdoor seating (the benches) are used by crackheads trickling out of HP to sleep on and shoot up. I’ve witnessed this as a neighbor and I’m sickened that these benches are used for Sunday brunch service. Maybe they wipe them down, maybe they don’t, I don’t know; the ground right there is disturbing to serve food on.

I was immediately seated during brunch on Thursday! There was no wait the entire time I was eating, so it seems like weekday mornings are your best best for minimal waits.I ordered the Rutherford and tried two specialty pancakes: Banana Coconut Cream Pie and the Signature Berry Bliss. If it is your first time here I recommend getting either a skillet or a omelette and upgrading your regular pancakes to specialty so you can try one of the delicious pancakes that Wild-berry is known for.Everything I tried was delicious, but I actually enjoyed my omelette more than the pancakes! The goat cheese in the omelet was REALLY GOOD and such a smart, unique way to add creaminess to the eggs. I wish the pancakes came with mascarpone on the side or cream filling on the side, or if they had more of it in between the pancake layers. Thats my only complaint because I thought the pancakes were good otherwise. The berries on the Signature Berries were very sweet and complemented the dish well.

Arrived an hour before they closed for them to turn us away because they decided to close early due to “not enough staff”. We called an hour in advance before coming and failed to share with us that they would be closing early today. Take out also was not an option and there was no signs saying they were closing early. Don’t waste your time like we did driving 40 minutes to get here only to be shared later when you get there they are closed, when they had the opportunity to share with you they were going to.

IF YOU’RE A PERSON OF COLOR DO NOT EAT HERE. it was my first and absolute last time eating in that predominantly white establishment. I told the waitress that it was my first time eating here and she was incredibly rude off the bat. I asked if I can have regular potatos instead of “home style fries” and she rolled her eyes and said it’s the same. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT I ALREADLY SAID ITS MY FIRST TIME BEING THERE? Every interaction with the staff felt disrespectful. I ordered the quiche and it was so salty that it was INEDIBLE. Save your self the trouble and go to literally any other restaurant in the area.

The coffee was really great and the waiters refilled our cups every few minutes. Thanks for the amazing service! But good lord, it was humid, congested, and hard to breathe. Please get fans and crack some windows...!!! We all noticed that our food seriously lacked flavor and variety. The vegan options were literally all the same, just slightly different. The portions were hit or miss. Some were good portions, some were quite small. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this place again, unless they get some air circulation to alleviate the stuffiness and add some flavor + variety to the vegan options.

The service was cool but the food wasnt all that great. I ordered an omelette and it was essentially an egg wrap sandwich. They cooked the eggs and then put the filling on there, off of the stove, Im assuming, and folded the egg on top of it. Thats not an omelette. It was a cool place though. And the other options looked good, but based on the omelette... it was the worst Ive ever had. I wouldnt recommend.

As usual a great, quickly served meal. This was my first time with a child in my group. A very well behaved 9 year old. I was a bit surprised when a waiter told her to get her shoes off the chair. Maybe Im just getting too old to deal with brooding hipsters.

They must emit a vapor of confusion upon the patrons who enter this place. Either that or those that eat here have never had good food. Its just not good at all. I would say its downright tasteless. I went here with my GF and we both were super stoked based upon the reviews. The staff was nice and the place seemed like it should be tasty, but there was no taste to the food at all. Id have to say its one of the worst places for breakfast we ever had and we go out a lot. There was a random plastic brush piece in our food that looked like a worm and the server was very apologetic. I would have assumed she could have at least given us free coffees for that bit of nastiness. The coffee was good so there is the two star rating.

The food at the Flying Saucer is SO GOOD! Its almost too good, I think, because the service feels like youre at a restaurant in Europe where the servers arent working for tips and therefore dont really care at all if you need water or an extra fork or what have you. Usually there is a long wait for brunch on the weekend, they are only open until 3pm. They also have some weird thing about not giving you water unless you ask for it, which I think it pretty silly policy at a restaurant, especially since its nearly impossible to get the attention of a waiter even when you do get a seat. Anyway, none of this really matters-- I will continue to go back since the food is so awesome and its located nearby Humboldt park, a perfect spot to walk off some of that to-die-for organic steak and eggs. Just too good for their own good.
