Ive been to many different jewelry and loan stores and this, by far, is the friendliest and most knowledgeable pawn shop ever. I live in Long Beach and in the future I will come here to sell and buy. This store is worth the drive. Thank you A Hillcrest Pawn!

Known David Paul Casper for 30+ years and he has become disreputable, not enough accountability. Hate to say it but after 30+ years, my association with David Paul Casper has ended.

Honestly I was a tad skeptical of this place because of the bad reviews but let me tell ya these guys are nothing but nice and helpful. I was walked through the entire process of obtaining my first gun and made the whole transaction a pleasant one.

Not a place to buy your first firearm, they have no interest in chatting. the guy didnt even want to get off his chair and search for a specific rifle (through the pile of dozens leaned against a corner) i was looking for until i had made the decision to purchase it. I would think it is pretty obvious that someone would like to see it before committing to it. But clearly this guy doesnt want get off his chair without a buyer promising to buy it. You can get good deals at other shops selling used guns by people who actually have an interest and enjoy firearms sales. Never going back there again.

I saw the windows filled with musical instruments. I walked in and found the place filled with those black guns almost everyone hates. The musical instruments and the instrument cases are a cover for what is really going on. This is not a place for musicians.

The only pawn/loan shop Ive been to where I wasnt offered insultingly low prices for my stuff.The guys there acknowledge the quality of the items Ive brought in and have offered the best loans I can find.As far as pawn shops go you cant beat em.

Went to sell, sold very few things. Not a good outcome, but I was given a lot of time for not much profit for him, that I do appreciate. A note: if you run a pawn shop- bedside manner is huge to people who are already in a bad spot. Owner / manager was helping me and he was very patient, but compassion was lacking, al. His offer price on my things was not great, compared to the 5 other stores Ive shopped, but I needed gasoline so I sold the least favorite items he would take for a 20$. Unless you have something more rare or valuable than usual, dont expect much -or an offer at all. Its very soul crushing when your there by last resort and they tell you that the very few things you value, that may get you back on your feet, are worth so little to them. The guy himself was decent for a pawn shop owner and spent a lot of time working with me. He did tell me something was mechanically wrong with 2 items, but one,(when pressed at selling time about what exactly was missing or broken), was a total oh, wait, I got the wrong model, yours is not missing a part . I had to show him how to operate it properly. So I am a bit suspect, but maybe he made an honest mistake. Either way. Didnt look good to devalue my item by being ignorant of merchandise he deals with often while using a computer for help.

I loaned a pistol and renewed it several times. This was my second time i have loaned this pistol at this location. Recently I miss timed the loan date and fell behind on the ticket by 20 days while out of town. The owner stated that he sent a courtesy letter at the time it had expired but they put the wrong zip code (their mistake they admitted) and i never actually received the notice. I had several conversations back and forth with owner and he adjusted the fees to accommodate their mistake with the notice. Long story short, he called the police to ask legally what options we had being I live 2 hours from store and am disabled which makes traveling hard on my neck and body. We came to the conclusion of me mailing my ticket as I had done before with a pre-addressed and stamped envelope along with my signed ticket, and accepted a cash payment from a relative without issuing a receipt to him (for legal purposes).END RESULTI was able to renew my loan after about 7 calls. I will be back to get my pistol(Which was brand new and only fired once at shooting range since owned) along with my 3 boxes of ammunition in the very near future.Thank you for admitting to mistake and I understand there are laws that need to be followed and finding the option to do the right thing legally and ethically.

The store is clean and has quality stuff. The owner knows his business and although I didnt buy anything he took his time with my questions. I liked it.

I see 90 percent of the one star comments coming from people with deleted profiles. David is on point,.wide selection of everything. Always freindly to me and my friends. I cant stand when people try and mess someones business up because the little kid inside of them did not get what they wanted. Rubbish.

Very deceptive business tactics and invasive insulting and ignorant staff left a layaway was given an extension changed my mind the gun was too heavy for me to lift it they were not willing to refund lost over 300.00 in the mishap dont recommend lost guns before bought by them suspicious behavior dont bother

Didn’t want to get up to help or ask what I wanted. Would rather eat his chips.
