My sons Audi A4 had the transmission go out in it a few weeks ago. My local mechanic could not fix it since its an Audi and he doesnt work on German cars. The first company that came to mind was AAMCO. I had his car towed there. Their prices were very reasonable, the service was OUTSTANDING and they went above and beyond what we expected. I highly recommend AAMCO in Roanoke for all of your vehicle needs. If we lived closer to Roanoke, Id use them for EVERYTHING they were so great.

Aamco did an excellent job getting my A/C on my limo fixed. Not many places would service a limo but they got me in while servicing other vehicles back to back. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and they have great rates. Its hard to find an honest mechanic these days. Definitely recommend A+ 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The transmission went out on my 2001 Honda Accord back in April, 2015. About $3,400 later, these guys installed a new transmission with a 3 year warranty. I went on a road trip out west this summer and 68,000 miles later this new AAMCO transmission failed on me. Since I was not about to waste money on a new transmission on this old car, I wound up having to buy a new car out in the Salt Lake City area. I remember back in 2015 one of the guys at AAMCO explaining to me how the engineers of this remanufactured transmission had fixed the simple mistake that the Honda engineers had made so the transmission would not fail again. That was very reassuring at the time, but my reply to that now is, uh huh.

I am very thankful for AAMCO in Roanoke (Orange Ave). Our transmission broke down on Route 81. We were towed to another shop, but they told us that they didnt have any appointments for another week. When we called AAMCO, they were considerate, they took the car immediately, and they had a diagnosis for us in an hour. The repair was large, but AAMCO kept us updated on its progress, and they went out of their way to be helpful. I fully recommend AAMCO of Roanoke, VA.

These folks are the best Ive ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Ive been there for what I thought was a major issue and said I dont care how much it costs,I need my car,at the time i was going through cancer treatment and i had appointments, so,i NEEDED my car fixed. But Pete, the manager, called me, said it wasnt major,didnt need a new transmission, just catalytic converters, so, it saved me a couple thousand dollars, HONESTY, GETS ME EVERY TIME!!! Its guys like these that make me proud to be an American, and that these are our hometown guys, and I also would give big props to the owner, shes a lady, a fine auto tech herself, and the last time I was there in july of 2021,she was working WITH her guys in the shop, not just counting cash in the office. Super friendly and professional. I brought my mother in laws vehicle in after she had a transmission repair and they spent over an hour on it trying to find why it was shifting rough. After resetting some codes and driving it, they were able to make it better. Come to find out, the transmission had some intelligence and had to learn my driving habits after the rebuild.

Cam and Pete is the best at what they do. I can’t wait to I get my license because I’ve seen their work they put in on my mommas car, my drivers car. They are awesome go check them out.

I took my car to them to fix my brakes and they still have it and its been a month. If I knew they didnt know how to fix brakes I would have took my car somewhere else. I will not be returning or referring anybody to this company Ive never seen anyone or any company take this long to fix brakes.

They practice being very transparent as well. They show the customer where the damage is and repairs that need to be done. I went into AAMCO thinking I had transmission problems with my truck. She wouldn’t shift above 3rd gear and I couldn’t go faster than 35mph without red-lining the RPM’s. The very reasonably priced diagnostic test told them that problem actually was a clogged exhaust system. I had no idea that an exhaust system could affect a transmission like that, but one new catalytic converter later, and my truck is shifting better than she used to. I am so thankful to AAMCO for their honest dealings.

Pete at the Roanoke shop was very easy to work with and kept me up to date on the progress of my clutch replacement and head gasket replacement. They did not exceed the estimate. I cannot be happier with how it all worked out. It has been a month and the car is running great and the oil leak problem is solved. I will use them again if needed.

Pete at Aamco was very informative and gave us the options for providing a fix for our older vehicle. He was up-front about risks and realistic outlay of costs related to the age of our car for what was avaialble there to offer. I have been coming here for at least 5 years now, service recently last couple months has gone down hill with some new tech. I have 8 vehicles that have been serviced and worked on by the same 2 guys that I have always dealt with without any problems and just until recently I have had to bring 1 of my vehicles back 4 times as things were not done correctly. Another vehicle had to go back as it felt like my tires were not tightened and were gonna fall off after a brake job. Sad as I love the guys that I have dealt with without any problems until this new tech(which i believe is a girl) seems to not be the top notch service I have been use to for all this time. Guess I will have to find a new shop or maybe request only Homer or Jay to work on my vehicles.

I dont like them at all,I took my car to them to have it fixed 6 times,and they still didnt fix it. I had to spend more money for my car to be fixed somewhere else. Bad service I will never in my life do business with them again. Never

They serviced my land rover transmission and never charged me a cent. Could have charged me hundreds and I would not have known I was got. So its a good place to do business.

I highly recommend Roanoke AAMCO! A few months ago, the shop in Salem shut down and did not tell anyone. When I called Roanoke AAMCO, they were very sweet about the entire situation and got me in and had my car finished within a week! When my warranty company did not want to pay for the entire thing, they really worked to get them to pay more and ordered parts for me to make the situation most beneficial for me. They even gave me a large discount on of the price of my transmission rebuild because of everything I had been through and basically didnt make any profit. Once my car was finished, they included a 12 month warranty on the transmission free of charge. They were all very friendly and efficient in repairing my vehicle and communicating with me and the warranty company throughout the process. I will continue going to them whenever needed and I would 100% recommend anyone else to do so!

I had a bum transmission on my newly bought 2005 Nissan Frontier. It was a known issue with this model with automatic transmission. I limped into the shop. Dave knew of the issue, knew the steps to be made in repairing my truck. Very courteous and fair. Yesterday, I had an issue with one of the U joints getting real noisy, I took it in and even though the warranty had ran out mileage wise, they said they would repair it. Turns out it was the rear U joint, that was original, was failing. They repaired it anyway. No cost to me. Thanks guys.

If we were going to break down, we were fortunate enough to do so right in front of this AAMCO. Being from out of state we had no idea about the quality of service here. They were more than accommodating in allowing us to leave our vehicle there while they diagnosed what needed to be done. They told us we were not in need of a new transmission, which is what we had thought. The cost of the repair was very reasonable and their customer service was excellent. Not happy with aamco transmission I have had four rebuilt transmissions now may need number five they are only lasting six to seven months and now not shifting correctly brought to original shop that rebuilt it and work was very poorly done was lied to by the shop manager when spending 2,500 dollars you expect for it to last a little longer. now out of my extended warranty that I paid for by four thousand miles and the last rebuilt trans lasted exactly six and a half months would not recommend them to anyone

About 7 years ago the transmission on my F350 went out while I was on Williamson Road. It was towed to Aamco on Orange Avenue where the transmission was rebuilt. Much cheaper than a new transmission and the turn around time was short. The cost was less than expected. About a week ago I encountered a problem with the shift lever not going into park. Drove the truck to the Orange Avenue and expected the worst. I described the problem and was prepared to leave the vehicle. The tech guy was under the dash within a couple minutes, diagnosed the problem, and had the rework done with 10 minutes! They would not accept payment for their work! Unheard of in todays world! I highly recommend this location!

I had warrenty work done on my car with absolutely no problems. They were able to diagnose the problem by my description alone and completed the work within the week. The staff was very personable and I would highly recommend this location to anyone.

I went here a year ago with my Lexus to have a free offered transmission check. The mechanic came back after 10 minutes and said he wasnt going to do the complete check since he could already tell my transmission was a loss. He adamantly stated that it was in such bad shape that I shouldnt drive it off the lot . I didnt believe him since it had only been downshifting hard and drove away. I have since given it 2 transmission flushes in the past year and it runs perfectly now with no other work having been done. Usually I dont leave reviews but this was such a bad call by a lazy mechanic I decided I would, had I listened to him I would have spent $2500 for nothing and I am sick of these places that say you need repairs done that you dont.

I read about 20 reviews and bout choked. My transmission I paid 2600 dollars for isnt right! Pete tells me a rebuilt transmission isnt as good as a new one, this was after he tells me my ride isnt the jewel I think it is. Yeah! I brought a list over for the 10 day check telling the problems with the transmission. It was half a quart low on transmission fluid, anyway, sad! Sad! I drove it 2day and its not changing gears right, and when I stop, its like how bass vibrates you. I asked Pete you feel that vibration? he answered yes.

They kept my p8 sport trac a month to rebuild the transmission. They never could get it programmed they had to take it to bergland ford they were 3 weeks behind. Finally got it back friday then i had to spend all day Saturday cleaning to grease off the leather interior they did pay the bill at bergland

I discovered this AAMCO by accident. Fours hours away from home and I had to use these guys. The staff were all very fair in their pricing and sat down with me to discuss options, even when some of those options were not with this AAMCO.Everyone here treated me with compassion and generosity. They helped me find my way around Roanoke and listened when I explained my budget concerns.This AAMCO may be a bit out of my way, but I now have a place I trust to do any major work on my vehicles. Decent service

This past Christmas, I was heading down to South Carolina for a wedding Id be in when my car started acting up. It was accelerating very jerkily whenever I was hitting 45mph or higher. I was about 3/4 of the way through my rideand was honestly worried that I wouldnt be able to finish getting there.After getting a bit of a run around with a couple of other shops, I figured I would try a different place and thats when I came across AAMCO. I arrived during lunch, but they told me theyd look into it as soon as they could. I dont know how, but they managed to get the parts needed, fix her up, and send me on my way before 5PM. I made it in late in the evening, but still on the day I was hoping to arrive.AAMCO was incredibly helpful, very courteous (especially Mary up front), and super fast (at least in my instance they were). Seriously, they were god-sends.

They went and immediately picked up my broken down vehicle from another shop. Had the transmission out that day and fixed with a good warranty in 2 days. The price was reasonable as well!

I must say the guys and the owner at ammaco kn orange Ave kn Roanoke va has to be the best place to take your care when you need work done to it. I had an issue with my transmission and they went over and beyond their job to figure out what was wrong with it and getting it fixed. As well, they saved me a money in the process. They are wonderful, friendly, helpful, and will make you laugh as well. I would recommend anyone who needs work done to their vechlie to take to them not only will the work get done they make you feel like you have known them forever. We were traveling from NY to NC, when our transmission gave way in Va. Mary was the first person we met. With her energetic personality and her welcoming smile, she made us feel like everything was going to be ok. She even offered financing! Next we met Ryan. He told us what was needed, and then put two of his best on the job. Everyone who worked there took a minute to ask if we needed anything or say hello to our puppy. Mary even got him water. I cant even mention all the ways Mary helped, but i will say she treated us like family. We were out (with a new transmission) in about three hours. Thank you to everyone at Aamco for turning our crisis into just a bump in the road.

So I went to the dealership and they told me something was wrong with my transmission gave me a quote for repair $4,000 dollars. So someone referred me to AAMCO went there they told me exactly what was wrong having nothing to do with the transmission, serviced my car and the problem cost me under 500 dollars. I came in with a broken throttle cable on a Saturday morning. I trying to drive out to California at the time and was already preparing myself to be stuck in Roanoke until Monday. These guys had me on the road at 8:30 SATURDAY MORNING. I couldnt believe it. And they didnt even charge me to boot!

Our 2002 Ford Explorer was diagnosed with a Transfer Case issue. We were referred to Aamco by the repair shop that diagnosed the problem and they felt Aamco would be better able to serve us. We had actually used this Aamco before for another(unrelated) issue on the same vehicle.We dropped the vehicle off on a Saturday, and by Monday morning, I received a call suggesting that our tires were causing the problem, and that the Transfer Case was actually trying to engage because of a tire tread issue. They said they had seen this before, and would rather I experiment with this than spend a lot of money unnecessarily with them. At first I thought, Are you kidding me?. Aamcos diagnosis was performed free of charge, and though I was happy for that, I was skeptical that this could possibly be the solution. BUT....two new tires, and two days later, we have had no remnant issues whatsoever.Based upon a review on the internet, apparently Ford Explorers from the early 2000s have an issue with even the slightest treadwear or design differences between the front and rear tires, and will try to engage the Transfer Case if it senses a tread issue. That was the case here, as our tire installer also confirmed.My wife and I are very thankful that Aamco recommended the tire solution first, prior to spending much more money on either another Transfer Case, or a component for the Transfer Case, not to mention installation labor charges.It is refreshing to find someone you can trust when large dollar amounts are at risk, especially when you are relying on them for knowledge you dont have when you walk in the door.

My transmission was repaired at cost. Done right.

My experience with this AAMCO was TERRIBLE!!! I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone for anything!!! They charged me nearly DOUBLE their original estimate. Their employees - including the manager - were rude, surly, and insulting. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! The station owner was almost impossible to get on the phone. And, on top of it all, I filed a police report because I believe that ~$300 worth of personal property went missing from my vehicle while it was on their lot. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

They treated me like crap, constantly in and out having to get car re worked on. Just very rude.
