My pint of coconut, almond and chocolate ice cream was half full and tasted like it was churned a year ago, and just frozen till I purchased it. $5.00 for 5 pieces of granola instead of a full cup. Shame! I get it COVID shutdown set a lot of ppl back but this is just ridiculous!

Ordered a scoop of Chocolate Ganache and it was really gooood! Selling point is they use liquid nitrogen so orders are made fresh. They also offer non-dairy products/ice cream base for those who cant have or choose not to have such.

After eating at Zacharys, I was looking for a good dessert place and this place was highly rated. I really like how the ice cream isnt frozen, its more soft so its easier to eat. The waffle cone was very good as well.

Fresh ice cream I chose the berry and my little one chose chocolate. Churned right in front of us, they add a little graham cookie, I enjoyed the crunch when I took my first bite.

Wow, this place is great. I got a maple blondie with Brown sugar and shortbread icecream with caramel sauce, it was delicious. All the ice cream is made to order right in front of you with machines that spew liquid nitrogen, it is a super cool experience. It was recommended to me by a friend who frequents the Berkeley area( he got vanilla with housemade strawberry sauce) and I would certainly recommend it to anyone whom I know to be heading that direction in the future.

I tried their seasonal brown sugar flavor and chocolate chip cookie dough with pretzels. Oh my God let me tell you the mix of sweet and salty with soft and crunchy ingredients was a heavenly mouthful. I can’t wait to go back for my second trip

I guess this place is kind of the opposite of Cold Stone creamery. Instead of softening your ice cream up they freeze it using liquid nitrogen pump through some contraption straight from the set of breaking Bad. Ice cream in waffle cone or pretty good.

Arrived close to closing which we felt terrible about but they were very accommodating and sweet, let us order. i got the guittard chocolate vegan pop which was soo nice and creamy, couldnt really tell it was vegan but i got hints of coconut. the brookie ice cream was also amazing. not big chunks of cookies but evenly distributed specks, which i surprisingly liked. my friends all got brown sugar caramel topping on theirs

I used to love this place but we got a pint of vanilla and they gave me a one that was premade which left me underwhelmed but it turned out to be a one-off. I took Smitten up on their offer for a pint on the house. The manager made a new batch, had me taste it and then packed a pint. Super tasty ice cream. Highly recommend Smitten Ice Cream. They now have some of the best vegan/lactose free ice cream on the planet. Their lactose free Brown Sugar Chocolate is one of the best ice creams we have ever had. Enjoy!

This is a pretty expensive place to go when thinking about ice cream ,very cool to watch how they make your ice cream, although it is expensive, I recommend if you decide to grab ice cream from this place you make it a large ,its so good that if you get a small dose of it youre going to be mad you didnt get a large size serving.

Smitten ice cream has been our savior and only indulgence during these strange times. Any of their fresh and seasonal offering can be used as an excuse if you are looking for one 😉. Vanilla is our all time favorite besides that recently we got Tanzania coffee flavor which was out of the world.

I come here all the time. Smitten is by far the best Ive cream place Ive ever been to. Its a popular destination for my family in birthdays, and it almost feels like home. I recommend the cookie dough or any seasonal flavor, the salted caramel sauce; and, of course, the home made waffle cones. Its the creamiest Ive cream in the world, and also my favorite. Its amazing to see the ice cream (and sometimes waffle cones, too!!) being made right in front of your eyes. Love this place!!

Probably some of the best Ice Cream out there. Cooling with liquid nitrogen causes the cream to freeze very quickly which prevents the formation of large ice crystals: the results are some of the smoothest ice cream to be had.

The ice cream is fun and tasty. It is very expensive and the portions arent terribly generous, but thats where my complaints stop.You can also taste any of the flavors before you buy. This isnt obvious but its a great tactic for the flavors that are a bit more adventurous. Have fun!

Its creamy, the flavors are unique. They also have combinations of chocolate loaded orders to simple flavorful vanilla icecream (I tried this and it was so smooth). Very reasonably priced too. You walk in an you could see the process in front of you. It elevates the experience. So please try it out.

One of my favorite ice cream shops. They have different flavors every month, but this location always has vanilla and I believe chocolate. I got to try the cold brew flavor which was amazing. Not too bitter, not too sweet, and really tasted like cold brew coffee with milk. The flavor I always get is Vanilla with brown sugar caramel and almonds (or whip cream) and it never disappoints.

Some state of the art tech which uses liquid nitrogen, the ice creams are very tasty. The young kid with us knocked off one of our ice creams on the floor and the staff brought us a new one for free. Definitely will return next time for some more

Ice cream made with liquid nitrogen doesnt always sit well with my stomach, so be warned if you think you might be affected. Ive read that its not healthy anyway. In any case, the finished product does taste good at the very least.

The icecream is great but some of the workers are not friendly at all. They always give you sample but the last time that i asked them to taste one the flavors, the girl told that she cant give me a sample. Its not a big deal but it wasnt a good experience.

Best ice cream East Bay! The ice cream is made fresh to order with liquid nitrogen. This creates a creamy and dense ice cream. They have seasonal flavors which add variety throughout the year. Parking in the area is difficult and there is usually a line. I personally think it is worth the wait.

First visit. At first I thought this may just be another quickly fading fad, but I hope not. Ordered the Brown Sugar w/ Cinnamon Shortbread and the ice cream was creamy, consistent and delicious. The prep machine and process is fun to watch.

I’m always skeptical when there is some kind of novelty to a place – this one being that they make your ice cream with nitrogen right in front of you. Ive returned a few times since my negative review and Im so happy to update it. mustve been a bad batch. almost every time Ive ordered since then has resulted in the freakiest ice cream. if you have a lumpy batch, just nicely tell the staff and theyll replace it with a fresh serving

Always a go-to when I am around the area. The liquid nitrogen makes the ice cream very smooth. The flavors change around, but I always go for the vanilla since they always have that, and it is my favorite flavor. The price is also very reasonable for the way they make the ice cream.

Probably some of the best Ive cream Ive ever had! Ive tried 6 or 7 different flavors but vanilla is still one of the best. Great toppings and fun to watch them make it fresh to order. Parking can be tough around the neighborhood though.

Finally got to try their Passionate Date and Jasmine tea. I thoroughly enjoyed both! The cashier was also super nice because we came on a day where they were out of Jasmine Tea but they offered a pint of the earl grey. So sweet of them! Im patiently waiting for the bloodorange to become available!

Thank god I don’t live in Oakland or else this place would be dangerous with a capital d! I ordered the “Dough My Goodness” with a cone and it absolutely did not disappoint. In fact, it was beyond heavenly. The only complaint if you could even call it that is that there isn’t much seating, but other than that, the ice cream was absolutely incredible and I am borderline salivating just thinking about that creamy goodness!

The Ice Cream is made while you wait. There are the standard flavors, but the Creamery offers new flavors regularly. Great place for kids and the kid in you. Seating is limited.

Being familiar with the sister store in Hayes Valley, I knew what to expect coming in and as usual - Smitten didn’t disappoint! The ice cream and toppings are delicious and such a treat (especially on a hot day). Only downside for this location (and likely just a function of the fact I showed up on a weekday right after school got out) was only two people were working - including the person at the register. This meant a relatively long (15-20 minute) wait, but they have plenty of seating so it wasn’t a big deal at all.

They have a unique way of making the ice cream on the spot with liquid nitrogen, which is fun to watch happening. Theres a small selection to choose from which they rotate around on a regular basis. The ice cream itself was great and had a very smooth texture to it.

A unique but familiar experience.In the end its expensive ice cream.Kids will be delighted and grownups intrigued by the harmless clouds that are a byproduct of freezing each order individually with their patented ice cream machines which literally use liquid air (is 2/3rds nitrogen) to make to two or three flavors of the day (dont worry, there is always a chocolate and vanilla variation) and usually a fruit of some kind. You are in Berkeley California, and if organic hippies arent your thing, steer clear, though there wasnt any discussion going on, there are plenty of posters, mostly fundraising for local groups supporting the downtrodden.

They have unique flavors they make themselves. The waffles cones are really good as well

When the brunette comes with peppermint ice cream, it isnt ok to just substitute it with chocolate without saying anything.The cookie dough also didnt have anything in it.

Pretty good, but not quite there with execution. The schtick for the price point is freezing with the liquid nitrogens!!, combined with small batch production as per pour over coffee. The problem is the product isnt manifestly as good as it ought to be. The fat content isnt seemingly high enough to be super premium, so you dont get that amazing gelato taste, and the ice cream isnt actually all that cold since it is small batch. Its really softserve with science. The flavors are good, but standard--happy trails with pistachios and ginger was yummy. This place needs some attention to detail and to take the idea further, and it would be really a great concept.

The ice cream is great, but a bit expensive. I get it, the nitrogen is a gimmick that is entertaining. And making each batch when the customer orders it is pretty interesting. But it takes forever doing it that way. Long lines when the poor staff are working with difficult machinery stresses me out just looking at them. At least worth a visit.
