First time - tried a spinach/feta pastry (amazing!) and the Mariachi (a take on a Mexican mocha, love the hint of spice). The cafe is clean and spacious with lots of open space, could accommodate wheelchairs easily.Roastery is open to view from the cafe if you are curious about that stuff!

I just moved to the area and have been trying out new coffee places each morning and so far this spot is by far the most quality coffee! Their espresso was absolutely delicious. I don’t know if I’ll even keep trying new places now, this shop is outstanding. Service is fast and friendly as well!

This is the spot to get your coffee beans. Freshly roasted premium coffee without the price gouging like some of the other local roasters. They sell beans in 16oz or 5lb bags (rather than 10oz-12oz bags sold for the same or more than the 16oz). They have the full gamut of roast profiles so pay attention to the level of your roast when selecting a bag. They also list the roast date. If you are unsure what you’ll like they usually have a few kinds to try by the cup at the counter. If you don’t want to drive to pick up your beans you can order online and they will ship them. Coffee drinks are very good here. They have skilled baristas that don’t overheat your milk if you like fancy coffee (which I do). They have a down home vibe that isn’t pretentious. They also have a pastry bar and lots of food options for breakfast and lunch as well. The only thing I wish they had is a coffee subscription.

I really enjoyed this cafe. Its tucked back in a warehouse district, so you wouldnt think that many people know about it but that would be incorrect. Ive heard from people that frequent there that they are usually pretty busy. The staff was great. We tried their house made granola bar, beet salad and caesar wrap. You could taste how fresh the ingredients were and I was amazed at how good the granola was! Some people come to work on homework or work, some families come, ladies getting together or dates. I dont know if I would work on homework here because I think it would be hard to concentrate, but the food and coffee is delicious! You have to try a baked good before you leave.

Low-key one of the better roasters in the cities. The branding may be more reminiscent of early 2000s, but the coffee is so good. Superb value, lots of variety of whole bean coffee stocked in the back room. My favorites are typically from Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Colombia. They have speciality lot coffees as well, featuring local coffee farmers of regions around the world. Great for pourover and cold brew methods. Plus you can buy all the coffee gear you need, like filters and numerous brewing method setups. I haven’t stayed to drink or eat in the cafe, but there’s plenty of outdoor seating during the summer. They have become our default local coffee roaster to buy from, and their health precautions during COVID-19 are suitable for customer safety.

Had the spiced caramel apple cider. Wow, that was an awesome non-coffee drink. The woman preparing the orders was very efficient. Our drinks were prepared quickly and correctly. There was a slight issue with the credit card reader and she solved that in a flash as well. They offer open wi-fi if you care to use it. They do have a sign advising masks are required, except at the table while consuming your purchases. They also adhere to social distancing with their seating. That actually makes for a bit more elbow room. Overall, this little place is great. Give it a try.

Honestly the best coffee Ive ever had! Incredible variety of freshly-roasted coffees and tea to purchase for at-home brewing, along with essential supplies/products for coffee preparation that are hard to find at other stores. High quality beverages sold in the cafe. Unique environment of cafe, wholesale shelves and seeing the staff roast the beans in-person is a great experience resembling a microbrewery.

Excellent selection of beans in their shop/warehouse. This is an awesome coffee shop with a fair amount of indoor tables and a large outdoor patio with a fire pit. Sometimes they remember my order from last time which I really appreciate and makes me feel like a valued customer. The menu provides you with a range of items whether you feel like a hearty breakfast one day or a lighter meal the next. You can taste the quality of their food which is made from scratch when you order. Would recommend their Blender drinks and breakfast sandwiches!

Unique little coffee place tucked in an unusual spot, but thanks to Yelp, was able to find it! They roast Organic and Fair Trade coffee for a great price! Whats not to love about that? I had the dark roast of the day and it was exceptional and came in a pottery mug with their name. We also tried the Sage Pesto egg breakfast sandwich that they make with homeade pesto and homeade biscuit or English muffin--delicious. And then we had a chocolate chip scone which tasted like a chocolate chip cookie, so again, how could you go wrong?! There was plenty of seating, free WiFi, friendly baristas, and good vibes. They also have their own little parking lot in front. The only problem we had is that it was really cold inside 😆 I know we are in MN, but I had to keep my coat on the whole time even while I was drinking a hot cup of coffee.

I live in the neighborhood and visit Up Coffee Roasters multiple times a week. The coffee, pastries and atmosphere are excellent and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately during my last visit (on Sunday morning), there was only one barista and no support staff. It took 45 minutes for him to get through about 4 coffee orders ahead of me. Not sure if they’ve intentionally cut staffing due to Covid, but it’s probably time to reevaluate that. I’ll probably sticking to afternoon visits from now on (when one staff is usually sufficient to serve the slower pace of customer traffic).

We finally got around to trying UP and were pleasantly surprised by our first experience. The location and aesthetic are a little under the radar, but they have free off-street parking and a nice amount of seating. We ordered an almond milk latte and the honey bee blender. The blender was a treat at $5- but its pretty much an espresso shake so its delicious. We also had what appeared to be a homemade cinnamon roll and it was super tasty! This place never fails to impress - the relaxing and unique vibe, quality, value, sustainable practices, positive energy etc. Its somehow a place that feels welcoming and inclusive to a wide demographic.Awhile ago I was on a quest to find the best miel in town, after countless occasions of sampling drinks that tasted more like milk than coffee, Ive had to give it to UP. Ive also yet to come across a coffee shop that manages to excel in both coffee and food/baked goods. On a couple occasions, I was curious about the name of a song, or had to request a drink remade, and without qualms the people working there got that figured out for me no matter how busy they were. Often the staff would also bring your order right up to your table. It really speaks to the service mindset and culture of the place - which if youre an UP employee, thank you and please dont ever lose that gift!

It takes a few detours, twists and turns to get to this quaint little coffee shop but its certainly worth the adventure. There were a few road closures that turned us around a few times but we have the Craft Notes Passport and have made the commitment to trying all the places, so turning around and finding something easier to get to wasnt an option.Im glad we journeyed on though, this coffee shop was a pleasant surprise. The drink menu was just big enough that you can find a classic version of a drink youre into without feeling overwhelmed with excessively sweet and pricey lattes. Prices were reasonable and they had a few different breakfast/pastry options for your snacking pleasure. I got the everything bagel with veggie cream cheese made in house. The cream cheese is served on the side so you can choose how much creamy goodness you want to load on. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many veggie chunks were in the cream cheese. For drinks, I ordered a miel. It had just enough sweetness from the honey. My fiancé ordered the black salted caramel latte and it was fabulous. We were there a while and he had a splash or two left to finish before we headed out. He said he almost liked it better cooler so we may have to come back to try it iced.I love that theyre focused on sustainability and all brand are organic and fair-trade. Their beans are roasted on-site daily. This story is made super apparent in their decorations, with images of the villages theyve positively impacted on the walls. Its not the most instagrammable coffee shop in the cities which makes it a great place to go when you just want a good cup of coffee and a place to work or just meet up with a friend. Theres no frills but its not divey. Just a good classic coffee shop. There is a cute outdoor patio with colorful planters if you come when the weathers nice.As far as the bathroom situation, it was just one stall so automatically gender-neutral there.Overall a really cute place and Im glad to see they havent gotten carried away with the superficial pieces some other coffee shops have - though, dont get me wrong, I love a good rustic aesthetic with a totally unnecessary swing.

Update: Ive returned to Up since they responded to my review and said the internet works now. However, I still had difficulty accessing UMN websites, as did the rest of my group. The employees mentioned their internet blocks the ability to access many websites because it deems them as security risks.I’m bummed to be giving up a rating of only 3 stars because the staff are so friendly and the food is so good. However, if you are planning to study at up and need to use the internet I would suggest going to a different coffee shop, especially if you need to access any umn affiliated websites. In our group, none of us were able to get onto myu, canvas, or umn gmail websites. I then asked an employee if others have this issue and he said literally all the time people ask about why they can’t access university websites, he said they’ve tried all they could to try to fixture problem and were unable to. Additionally, I could get onto google and google something, but if I tried to open a web page from google I was unable to. On a different note, up has the friendliest service. This is great, unless you’re in a hurry because their friendliest and chattiness can lead to slow service. On a positive note though, up has awesome drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. I love their cookies & chaider. Additionally, they have ample seating and a big table in the back for groups. Plus easy parking, in their lot and on the street. I would highly recommend stopping at up for a take out situation or catching up with friends, but not for any studying or meetings that may require internet access.

Got a latte, it was alright but nothing special. The tabletops have this gross sticky feeling finish on it that I found unpleasant. Most customers left at one point and workers starting mopping all around my table, felt like they were closing but they were still open for another hour and a half. Dont know why they couldnt wait until people had left. Mop water also smelled something gross and I didnt want to get up and slip. Dont plan on going back, didnt see what the other reviews did.
