My daughter and I have been making the rounds to different coffee shops in the Twin Cities, and this one was amazing! Great coffee (most important part), but also really good bakery items and breakfast sandwiches. Ambience was 100% positive inside and out.

A sweet coffee shop snug in the middle of a residential area. This shop isnt your busting Starbucks style shop; so refreshing. Most patrons seem to be from walking distance, giving it a very cheers vibe! Friendly staff, who are helpful and know the regulars. On top of this great vibe, they have quality coffee AND they even make their own syrup

Location is spacious and the coffee is decent. Wasn’t very impressed with my flat white, it was similar to those you would get at a big chain like Starbucks so it had barely any foam at all. Prices still seem pretty high even with tip factored in already. This ham and cheese sandwich was $8.50. You get a lot of ham which is nice but it is literally just ham and cheese on toast. Drinks and food were delivered to the table which was nice.

As the winter comes in we have a fireplace, that you can get warm by.the neighborhood is even awesome. Some amazing delicacies again its hard to find a bad piece of food here. Probably my new favorite study spot. Great parking, reasonable music volume, a decent place to sit with very comfortable chairs. I stumbled in and saw these little bags and didnt realize they were apart of the decor. The drink options were quite extensive and I love the quality of the baked goods. I always end up at trendy spots that lack a cozy vibe(Ex. Spyhouse, Urban Bean) which cater to trend, rather than the customer. best neighborhood coffee shop so far.

Ive only been here once. But I was very impressed with its style and more importantly, the taste. I got a simple caramel latte. I liked the little design they top it with and it was one of the best coffees Ive had in a very long time. Price is very good for what you get for. Would definitely recommend!

I don’t live in the neighborhood but if I’m passing through, this is my go to coffee shop. Their coffee is top quality and would plant them on my “top 3” coffee shops in the twin cities. That plus the fact that there prices are adjusted so tipping is not required makes this a highly recommended stop for me.

I cant wait to come back here after the pandemic business because aside from the somewhat panicky vibe I got in there with all of the taped lines and signs to not approach, we still had some delicious coffee and baked goods. By far one of my favorite coffee shops in Minneapolis! Espresso drinks are first-rate. They hand-make all of their own simple syrups and to create delicious special drinks. Great stop for snacks and lunch - many gluten-free options! The owners, Jim & JoAnn, are so welcoming. Love this place!

First off, this place has top notch coffee and baked goods. I have not found a place that has a better selection or taste. While I was ordering my coffee, it was nice to see that the owner was actively baking and bringing fresh baked goods to the front. I had the cream cheese pumpkin donut and a berry crumb bar. I recommend both.Second, the staff was nice and pleasant. No complaints.Third, the environment was comfortable, creatively decorated and fairly quiet. It was an enjoyable change to not have loud music playing in the background like Caribou, Dunn Bros, Starbucks, and Spyhouse. The chairs, tables, and outlet accommodations were fair. My only request would be to turn up the thermostat a little bit.In sum this is in my top 3 coffee shops in all of Minneapolis, definitely dont drive past this place to go to another coffee shop; it is worth a stop.

This cute and homey place is located in the Kingfield section of South Minneapolis on a bus route. Owned by a Filipino descendant and her husband, this establishment exudes a very relaxed, personal and community oriented vibe.Royal Grounds serves extremely good Fair Trade coffees, along with high quality espresso drinks, light fare and pastries that appear to be, for the most part, homemade. In addition, they serve a selection of other non-alcoholic beverages and specialty teas.Despite the fact that hours are limited and the price points are high, Royal Grounds is a very good competitor to similar chain cafés that are far more corporate, impersonal and uniformly sterile at comparable prices. The employees are treated very well and it is reflected in a very praiseworthy establishment that is very popular in the morning and especially on Sundays after church - even on Easter!

Ive been going to this coffee shop location since the previous owners had it and it was named Cafe Tempo. Ever since the Royal Grounds revamp, it has become increasingly popular and really is a nice little coffee shop. For the past few years Ive had no complaints. The owner Jim and his wife and extremely friendly and have great customer service. The drinks and pastries are pretty good, and while they are a little pricey, I dont mind spending that little extra as long as it supports a friendly family run business. That being said, the past few months have been a little rough. When Jim or his wife isnt there in the morning, the service has been pretty terrible. For example, a cashier will ring up your order and tell the coffee maker directly next to him/her a drink that Ill have ordered, and the cashier will somehow already forget what my order is. The other day I ordered a large iced mocha, and the cashier told the coffee maker a medium regular mocha. While its not the end of the world, if Im paying $5+ for a mocha, I expect to at least get what I wanted... They also have ham, egg, & cheese bagels, but they are generally a hit or miss depending on who makes them. There are a few workers who consistently take a long time and burn them, but instead of remaking them, they just say Watch out, its a little burnt. What am I supposed to do with that?Sometimes they will simply forget about what you ordered until you speak up. Today (8/8/18), I ordered a bagel and a large iced coffee. The workers apparently failed to communicate the order, and after 5 minutes of getting my bagel (a total of 10-15 minutes since I ordered,) I asked about my iced coffee. Within 30 seconds I had it. I wish they would be a little bit more careful about this. All in all, I think the place is cozy, but outside of Jim, his wife, and maybe one or two workers, the customer service is pretty terrible. I would hope that they would hire a couple more workers who are up to the job and can successfully complete an order without any ( or minimal) mistakes.
