Mariel and Rose are both awesome and it was so good seeing them at Hubbard & Cravens! They’re both so sweet and great at their jobs. Mariel suggested that I get a coffee shaker and it was yummy. I will definitely be back and I’m so glad it’s in such a great location right near Broad Ripple. There is a lot of room in the coffee shop to do work, go on dates, etc.

Stopped in to grab a cup of Joe. Maddie (Maddy?) was the barista whom made my iced Pumpkin Pie Latte. She was super sweet upon walking in. Natalie was the other gal whom was busy restocking and cleaning. She too was super nice as well. Ive read some of the other reviews and I have to say that my experience was quite the opposite. This location may be experiencing issues with being short staffed so their closing hours may change, but that doesnt mean their quality while open has gone down. I feel like more customers could try a little understanding and patience. I was in the middle of my work day and I chose to be patient and understanding. And you know what? My experience was amazing because of that and these wonderful ladies. I most definitely will make it a point to stop by here when I am in the area.

Really did enjoy the coffee from this shop. Unfortunately by the time that I got to my car (right after ordering) the paper straw had falling apart. I totally recommend this place however their drink cups should either be a sippy cup style or have a different type of biodegradable straw. Otherwise will totally be back for more!

I am very picky about my coffee and I usually find it so hard to find a place that makes consistently good coffee. There is nothing more disheartening than finding a place that makes good coffee but only when certain people make it. At Hubbard and cravens it doesn’t matter who is on bar, I know I’m going to get an amazing latte every time I order. I have yet to have a bad coffee from there and I have ordered a lot of lattes 😂 the thing that stands out to me is that even when they are busy they don’t sacrifice on quality. You get your drink quickly but it doesn’t taste like it was made in a rushed manner. Also, let me just say the staff is so nice and amazing. My husband and I go every weekend and they take the time to talk to us even when they are busy. We drive all the way from Westfield just to come get coffee from them

For someone seeking that third wave coffee experience, I have faith H&C will deliver for you. Ive tried many, many Indy coffee shops with mixed (mostly meh) results.Went to H&C on a Saturday morning and got their El Salvador. Went back near closing time for another hit of El Salvador and bought a bag of whole beans to take home. Using a Hario V60 with a linen filter and proper grind/water/temp, I can easily duplicate the delicious results they served me on that Saturday.Roast date on my bag was about a month out, but the results cant be argued. Truly fantastic pour. You can tell a bit by the size and uniformity of beans that theyre sourcing quality and the roast was dead on. Youll want to periodically take a sniff from the bag. Its...crack.Of course I went the following day, Sunday, and they were pouring a different coffee. Peruvian, maybe? I dont recall, but it was also fabulous. I will be back. No doubt whatsoever.This is one of the very, very rare shops thats clearly at the top of their game. How they can batch brew with this level of excellence I have no idea, but I can say its a rare find, typically reserved for shops that offer pour overs. Im delighted to have discovered this gem of coffee shop thats clearly serious about actual coffee.I also find it cool that you can get nice gear there; I spotted a Hario and an Aeropress and some other stuff on the wall on my way out the door. Excellent.October 2021 update:As I sit here sipping their lovely Ethiopian, Im compelled to share that Ive had a few more excellent experiences with H&C on Carrollton. Among the more curious surprises: I got their Sumatran (which Id probably never order, if given an option), and it was a remarkably enjoyable expression I wouldnt mind revisiting. Their Guatemalan was probably my least favorite, but it occurs to me that of the four bags of Guatemalan Ive purchased this year, I was only really jazzed about one of them. So even their Guatemalan, for me, would place well above average based on my recent experience with competing roasters of exceptional repute.I also checked beneath one of the El Salvador bags next to checkout today, and I believe the roast date was 9/29 (its 10/8 today). This is great.Check this place out. The execution is shockingly good.

This is my second time here. I was pleasantly surprised to discover clearly labeled vegan rice crispy treats and carrot muffins among their selection of baked goods, both of which are delicious. The employees are helpful and friendly, and the coffee is quite delectable. I recommend a mocha with oat milk. Plenty of comfy seating as well, a great place to come and intend to get some work done, but instead spend your time doodling instead of doing that work.

I came in around 7:15 am after being on call and able to get a good cup of the daily roast. I enjoyed a breakfast sandwich. Loved the relaxing classical music. Super friendly and helpful baristas

Im so glad I stumbled across this place! The coffee is delicious but what really sets it above are the people. You can tell the employees enjoy their work...they are always friendly and happy to talk to you about the coffee.

I hope the coffee is great.... because the service is not. I bought two bags of whole espresso beans and a latte. It is not clear where to pick up your order. Cold drinks were being handed out by the door. Hot drinks off the bar in the middle of the place. There isn’t any signage or directions. I waited by the door counter for my beans. The manager was rude. A delivery person was coming in while I waited. She shouted at me to get out of his way. I was at the counter. Then after she put my beans on the counter I waited a minute for my drink. She then rudely asked why I was still there. I told her I was waiting on my latte. Mind you, she just served someone a cold brew from this spot. She then barked it’s on the bar. Which is 30 feet from the counter. I probably won’t be back. Poorly organized and not customer focused.

More old school feel of a coffee shop, usually laid back. Be careful not all coffee sounding drinks are coffee!! Wifi works well.

I enjoy Starbucks, but I’m over the flavor. I wanted to try something new and local! You can’t beat a yelp search, when I typed in coffee. Hubbard and cravens popped up and I chose to go because it was closest to my office.Located in broadripple, on carrolton ave, it the second group of buildings down from the alley cat, you’ll find Hubbard’s.There was a good number of people hanging out around 7 which is awesome, lots of conversations and not just screen time.The baristas were very friendly! Let me answer questions, and made some great recommendations based on what I stated I liked.I ended up with a medium roast coffee, I wanted to try something simple before I went back for lattes or other drinks.I loved it! Just the right amount flavor and I add some cream because you know that they say about black coffee drinkers. I’ll be back for some more coffee treats!

Fantastic coffee! They have Macadamia milk! I ordered an iced latte with a split shot of espresso, half-caff basically. Relaxing music and plenty of seating. Friendly service.

Drove all the way through traffic from the closed downtown H&C location to the open Bripp location in search of a delicious coffee blend similar to what is served at Bluebeard. The head Barista could not have been more dismissive and arguable condescending offering us no help in identifying a comparable blend of H&C bulk coffee. What a mistake walking into this business! Time to buy the competitor’s product.

The coffee is good but the barista in Broad Ripple I keep encountering isnt very friendly. This morning I came in early and brought my puppy to help socialize her. I try to go at times when it wont be busy if I have Winnie with me, and it wasnt. We were one of two customers, and the first customer was served quickly. I ordered a coffee and Winnie my pup was sniffing around. She started whining to see if she could say hello to the barista. I asked if she wanted to say hi and the barista said she was too busy putting away bakery items as she was the only one working there. Its fine that she didnt want to say hello, I totally get it! Not a big deal. She was just very unpleasant and scowling - and obviously not busy. Again, fine if she didnt want to say hi, but you can still be friendly. I just paid $6 for a coffee - the least you can do is smile. Ive come in before without my puppy to get coffee and every time she has seemed to be bothered by the fact that Im ordering coffee and that shes working. Maybe she doesnt like her job or something I dont know, but when starting my day with coffee Id like to start the day pleasantly.

Service is SEVERELY lacking. I was ordering food & beverages for my girlfriend and I and every time I would add something I would get a totaled up Okay that will be... in a very irritated tone. Try Is there anything else I can get for you? How dare I want to buy more things from the business you work for. So I stopped ordering. Could have gotten two stars but she then seemingly forgot about the insanely overpriced Jimmy Dean sandwich.Ditch the chick with the shoulder-length hair and beanie running the register. Literally takes me 40 seconds to walk to this shop and Id rather get in my car and drive somewhere - hard pass on this H&C.

They have handled the transitions with Covid so smoothly and I always left satisfied even when the procedures were so new and different! I dont think I would have handled everything as well if I didnt have my little adventures wandering out of my home to get coffee. Now that seating is available again, I still feel super safe and love being able to come work outside!

I ordered a medium white cocoa. They have me a small. I told them I ordered medium and in the rudest tone the girl said “That’s not what was on the ticket” and the turned away. Well ok then, small it is. Sheesh... Go to Starbucks.

Nice shop! VERY cheap pour overs that they could easily charge $1 more for. Slow WiFi is my only complaint at all. Otherwise keep up the great work!

Excellent atmosphere that mixes chic with inviting and warm. Both times Ive been here Ive had cold brew, and both times it has ranked among the most flavorful and vibrant I have had, almost on par with an iced pour-over in that regard. Paper straws are a nice eco-friendly touch as well.

Hubbard & Cravens is a nice little spot in Broad Ripple. Its open early, and is a great transition space to local coffee for people who like Starbucks.The space itself has the upscale, city feel, with deep browns and touches of green. The staff are courteous and quick.The coffee itself, like I mentioned, is closer to the Starbucks flavor. It tastes like it has a longer roasting period with toasty, carmelized affects.Overall, its a plus for a meeting or work space with quality flavor and appeal.

Pumpkin pie latte is THE BEST!

Staff is often crabby, will get mad at you for not standing in the right spot.

While we were visiting Broad Ripple area we decided to stray a bit off the main drag and glad we did. Only a block away we found the relaxing space for some perfectly brewed coffee. In fact, we enjoyed our first visit so much, that we returned the next day before leaving out for our trip back home. The atmosphere is perfect for reading, studying, small talk, etc. The staff even remembered our order and what we wanted from the day prior, which made it seem more personal. The prices are spot on for the quality of their variety of beverages served. Plenty of seating, places to charge electronics, and parking. If in the area in the future, we’ll definitely be sure to stop in for a visit and recommend you do too.

We stopped by for a coffee after driving from Louisville to Indy. Arrived early for an event and needed a spot to land for 30 minutes. Service was excellent. Offered my preference of Central American single sourced coffees and comfortable seating. Noticed a lot of University students and evidently is popular and close by a campus. Very adequate neighborhood coffee shop!

Always great coffee. Comfortable atmosphere with plenty of seating. OK parking for Broad Ripple, particularly if youre coming at off times. Great spot for meeting one on one or just hang out in a good atmosphere for reading or working independently.Personally, Ive never had an unfriendly or unkind encounter with any team members. Most importantly, the restrooms are clean!

The new manager is extremely awkward and I cant get a word out of her. The other new brunette woman comes off as quite rude as well. The new guy is pretty friendly, I do like him. The one other new nice employee with acceptable customer service skills never works unfortunately. Its a shame they lost the old crew. Only one employee didnt leave when the old manager did and she is great. I loved H&C because of the connections I made with the employees. This is what sets coffee shops apart when there are so many in the city. Loyal customer will not be coming back......time to search for a new spot!

I go to the one in Broadripple and the staff is very nice. I would like it if they had name tags so we could be on a first name basis more. The coffee is delicious and the teas are even more wonderful.

This is a great place to go if you really love coffee and tea. The baristas are extremely knowledgeable and it is easy to distinguish different flavor profiles between the roasts. Their teas are fresh and taste amazing. It’s a great place for quiet conversation. This particular location does not have much room to sit, but I love picking up a coffee and walking around broad ripple. A must for coffee lovers!

For those of you who want to go to Starbucks, but would rather support another business. Very trendy spot in downtown Broad Ripple with ample parking and seating (assuming every table isnt occupied by the worlds next greatest novelist yet-to-be-discovered). Great friendly service, good coffee, and a solid locale.

Shop had an awesome environment and the cashier and barista were friendly. Overall I like the chill vibe within the shop and the quiet piece of mind that the environment and people bring. But the snacks and coffee are okay tasting, was expecting a little more from the last but it was still pretty good.

Of all the small batch roasters in the country, H&Cs serves some of the tastiest beans. Friendly staff coupled with great ambience in all their locations provides a great experience each visit. H&C has so much to offer, whether youre looking for a cup of coffee, or a spectacular meet/study spot.

Great place to meet, grab some java, and juice up for the rest of the day. BTW - ask for the coffee ice cubes - cold brew cubes for a summer treat.

H&C Coffee house is a local gathering place. The coffee beans are roasted far better than Starbucks can achieve, and its ambiance is uniquely local, with eclectic touches and local art. It is always filled with people working away on their PCs. The hair/beauty salon next door certainly make it a one-two punch of retail. And, their coffee masters know their stuff quite well, same as its proximity to a USPS location (wish they had a laser printer though...would make it full service).The only drawback to this particular location is that is has outgrown its leased space, and it could certainly be a bit bigger - like the one on Penn & 49th Street. The patio is nice and airy and a perfect place to people watch.

Food was good. A little privacy. You have to get your own coffee. I dislike this. I have complained before about this. I hope this isnt what places are coming to. Watreies was dumbfounded when I just stared at her when she said get your own coffee. Place is VERY LOUD

I had to watch the barista take a little over 15 minutes to make mine and one other persons drink, he even stopped completely a few times to talk to others ...I’m a first timer here but I’ve been to plenty coffee shops and have never experienced a wait like that before..hope it goes a little quicker next visit

Had a Carmel latte and a breakfast sandwich. The coffee was great, but the sandwich was still Luke warm in the middle, even after having it reheated. They offered to remake it, but I didn’t find the cold spot until half way through. I would get the coffee and leave the sandwich alone. Not sure they have perfected the process. The taste was great, but don’t want to spend around $5 and get Luke warm middle after a second try. I would come back.

The coffee is stupendous. I am on vacation in Virginia right now, and before I left, I bought H&C coffee beans to make my own cold brew just so I could bring it with me.FYI, I drank it all and am now forced to try local cafes. They’re just not as good. No where is as good.

This coffee shop is great for studying, generally pretty quiet and the coffee is great. However the music when I visited was the worst/weirdest Christmas music. Other than that I love the place!

The toasted macadamia latte is amazing! I really enjoyed the atmosphere here and am looking forward to going back. Their coffee had just a fresh flavor, not burned like Starbucks.

We stopped here on a road trip, hoping to find a great coffee stop since all the other reviews were so raving. The cold brew was fine, but overpriced for the size. The service was just odd - I ordered and the barista gave me the cold brew, and then walked away for a minute before I could pay - literally stood there with my money wondering if they wanted to take it. The whole bean coffee they sold in store didnt even have a roast date - they guessed it was roasted in May or June (its mid-July... any good roaster would not sell coffee that old). Bummer!

I am somewhat of a local here! The staff is incredible and are always willing to talk to their customers. The coffee is great, and the environment is really welcoming if you need to work, read, talk with a friend,etc. Highly recommend this place for many reasons!

This shop isnt in an easy to see location from Broad Ripple Ave, but its worth seeking out. H&C roasts all of their own coffee off-site and the beans are almost obsessively fresh - they get pulled off the shelf after two weeks. The past year theyve been stocking lots of micro-lot Costa Rican coffees which have been phenomenal.The Broad Ripple shop also is one of the few independent coffee shops in the country to have a Clover machine, definitely take advantage and try one of their seasonal single-origin coffees.

Either of the Hubbard & Cravens places is a solid place to meet up with friends, get some work done, or even having a date. The downtown Brip one is my favorite for its proximity to the other things if you wanted to do something afterwards. Water sucks, but its free so its not really a point against, and most people buy things when you come in. If you want a local shop, go here!

Fantastic place for locally processes coffee, cold brew and Nitro. The cold brew and Nitro are the best in town. Great spot to chill out, meet up with friends, or have a business meeting. Outdoor tables available if its not too crowded. Highly recommend.

This place has amazing coffee and baked goods, yet its not nearly as overcrowded as the coffee places just on the other side of Broad Ripple Ave. Theres nondairy milk so the vegans and lactose intolerant folks can still get their lattes, and the atmosphere is chill. Great place to come alone or with a friend.

Great local coffee shop! Im having green citron tea this morning, one of many fabulous tea selections they carry, as well!

Staff was friendly and nice place to sit and read a book. Parking might be a bit of a pain, I just got lucky catching someone leaving. Latte was way to foamy but the tea here is excellent.

The coffee is on the pricey side about $3-5 and $4-6 if you liked it with a pastry. To be fair, it is some what of the expected cost for those kind of independent coffee place.The drinks does taste well. The pastry were ok.The barista are friendly, efficient, and fun.The place is one the small side, and it can be difficult to find a table. However, a lots of people to not spend the day there, so one might freed fast.Bathroom are clean as the rest of the places.Tables and chairs are some what confortable.I would definitely come back, and probably recommend. However, it lack something for me to really give 5stars.I am probably just being picky about it and would - after my next visit - correct it.Maybe it was the price! who knows.
