Horrible. Ordered the grandpa breakfast, the fried chicken tasted like I said it was marinated in dirty water. The presentation on the plate was horrendous. Biscuit and gravy, was served in a basket...... Who does that seriously. Have no desire to ever visit a cracker barrel again

Its Cracker Barrel and nothing different than any other Cracker Barrel other than the location.I had the fried catfish with a hash brown and fresh fruit. Some of the strawberries were over ripped and on the verge of being rotten but flipped over and hidden by the other fruit. Nice try but you should have just thrown those pieces of fruit in the trash.The food arrived hot and tasted fine.The sweet tea was actually sweet. Thats a plus because sometimes its not.I wouldnt recommend the strawberry mimosa.Overall, Id recommend this location.

Ordered curbside and ended up waiting over 30 minutes. Normally I understand if it’s busy it might take a little longer but at least 10 other cars pulled up and got food brought out almost immediately. Every time I called or talked to someone all I got was “we’ll bring it right out” I end up going inside because I’m tired of waiting and was told they don’t know what happened to my food. Ended up waiting for an hour and 14 minutes for the food. This whole time it was curbside so I waited in my truck and when they finally came out all they did was step out of the door and yell the name of the order. I saw someone come out with food say something then leave so I got out and asked who it was for and got my stuff. Once I got my food and got home we realized they forgot 3 things

My wife and I ate tonight. The restaurant was not busy at 5:30, and we ordered food with our drinks. The food took longer than expected to arrive. The first waitress didn’t know the special listed was even on the menu when I placed the order. When the food arrives the potatoes were cold, the biscuits were really salty, and they brought me the wrong meal. The second waitress was very attentive and polite. However, when the new food was brought out it was undercooked. I had to ask to have the meal removed from our bill. We have eaten at this chain across the US, and this was our worst experience. Two stars is generous, but the waitress was great.

Food is delicious we always enjoy breakfast .on the weekends there is a wait time. Have new workers need a little more training the staff that check you in and seat you. The place definitely has and old time look. But breakfast always on point..

Store/restaurant was well organized and clean. Was very busy with a 30 minute wait for a table, expected on a Sunday morning though but everything came out quick and right. The food was okay but was the same as all cracker barrels ive been to so perhaps good. The service at the cashiers is nice and friendly but when it comes to tableside service it was average, meaning not friendly but not rude just a place your order and thanks for coming in making it a blah experience.

Food was good but the wait for curbside was 48 minutes longer than quoted. However, this isnt anything new. My daughter called in a to go order and waited over an hour. Obviously more business than this location can handle. The picture is from the curbside parking area.

It was great to visit this restaurant and be welcomed like a family member. The young man who waited on me was very polite and highly professional. The food came quick and it was delicious. Great breakfast platter. Its not an official trip to Hampton / Newport News, Va. unless you stop by Cracker Barrel. Also, I loved seeing all the employees wearing Hampton University Shirts, representing the popular H. B. C. U in our area. That was the ultimate touching highlight of my visit. Thank you Cracker Barrel. That jester means The World!!! All the employees were so nice and helpful.

I go to alot of cracker barrels and this by far has been the worst experience. My waitress was great but everything else not so good. It wasnt even busy and it took too long to seat one person. Half of my food didnt come out and when I asked I was told it was still being cooked and it was slow getting what food did show up. It didnt taste that great, as if it was rushed to be made. I could understand if it was busy but half the place was empty. I always leave cracker barrel feeling fat and happy, but today was not even close to that. Will not be coming back to this location again.

Food was okay and consistent with other locations. The experience and staff earned this low rating. The restaurant was not busy either, so it’s unclear as to why the service was so bad. Waitress avoided our table and any eye contact signaling we needed refills to the point where we had to get up to where they were all standing to get service. Minimal effort to make us feel welcome. Other staff were clearly unhappy to be working there, no one was smiling or greeting customers. To be clear, this is not a slight against the servers either, but it’s obvious that management is making this a poor place to work and it’s reflected in your staff’s attitudes. I know this wasn’t only my experience, tables around were saying the same complaints and constantly looking around for service. I would suggest finding another location.

I went with my sister to celebrate her birthday. Upon arrival we were told the wait would be 40 minutes due to staffing shortages. We chose to wait and eat in.We were seated in about 25 minutes. Our server arrived quickly, with a trainee in tow. ( It was apparent they are aggressively trying to add staff. ) Both were pleasant and gave us excellent, friendly service.Our food arrived in reasonable time, hot & delicious. We each chose chicken & dumplings and had sides of baby carrots, green beans, hashbrown casserole & mashed potatoes. Each item was delicious with very adequate portions. Bonus for my sister was a piece of cake she brought home as a gift for her birthday.The store was what Cracker Barrel patrons usually see. A lot of this and that, some food items along with games and sweets. Standard stuff for Cracker Barrel.Because I saw effort to add staff I felt it unfair to deduct a star for the waiting time. If you dont mind the wait I do highly recommend this Cracker Barrel location.

One of the worst crackerbarrels I’ve been to. Food wasn’t bad at all just cold(when my server brought this detail to a “Bianca” I was ignored for 15 minutes so I paid and left(Wasn’t the server’s fault they kept continual communication with me). Staff wise the servers were amazing but the managers and hosts seem to lack a sense of integrity. Seating times are ridiculous even when the dining room is empty and both had attitudes as if we the customer are the problem. Also Ive seen and had it broken down for me how servers here are treated and it should be illegal. Most are children in school yet they’re spoken to like dogs. Used to love coming here now I don’t see myself coming back.

Cracker Barrel has great food but the servers at this location are very young and not very well groomed on how to act accordingly. After a certain time of day/night, theres a extended wait in food, drinks, refills, and any other amenities need. Due to the lack of help, sometimes theres is only a few servers on the floor. Its almost like majority of the younger employees stand around & watch the clock for closing. This is with the exception of one younger guy who served there who actually had to assist us for a quick second because our server was nowhere to be found. Keep up the great work my guy.

We came here on our way home from NC. We had a group of 7 so mistakes are understandable. My boyfriend ordered biscuits and gravy, along with a hash brow casserole. Everyone got their food, or part of their order but he was left sitting there with nothing. He eventually got his biscuits and gravy. But when they brought out the hash brown casserole....it was just hash browns in a small dish. We politely told the waitress and she apologized and noticed everyone was done eating so asked if we wanted it to go when it was ready. We declined because he was the one driving home. When the bill came there were 3 incorrect items. But she fixed them for us. All the food we received was delicious. And our waitress was very very kind. She just seemed overwhelmed.

Extremely disappointed in this visit!! Server was either new or not trained properly, no smiles or normal greeting. Took our orders but we waited over 30 minutes before I had to go ask another server if they could check on our order. About 5 minutes or so the our food came out not by our server but the Manager who never apologized and frankly seemed annoyed. The food was good once we got it. I dont think we will return to this Craker Barrel, sad because it once was excellent.

Unfortunately I used an online gift card. System would not process order without including credit card information. It did tell me how much was applied towards meal. Staff claimed could not tell me either so unclear if card was properly applied. Only some of the special order was given. Asked for diet jelly and received regular. No extra gravy. Definitely room for improvement.

I gave 4 stars because, the food deserves a 5 star rating because it was good. The service how ever was lacking. 1 of the server brought us someone else food 3xs before finding the right table that they belonged to. The salt shakers because of humidity had rust all in the tops of them. So because of this pandemic & if a restaurant has not had large sit down customers I advise everyone to check the condiment before using them.

Went on Monday about 1. Waited 30 minutes to be seated even though very few people were there. No problem. Everyone is having a hard time getting employees. My husband and I are very sympathetic since we own a restaurant. Seated and were finally waited on. Ordered and told 20 minutes later that biscuits and cornbread were in the oven and would be out soon. Food arrived and were told all bread was still in oven. 30 minutes later when the gravy for my biscuits was ice cold asked again and was told that the woman who made the bread had gone home. Eggs were scrambled hard as a rock. Hash Hashbrowns were burned. Grits were dry as a bone. Sausage was undercooked. Finally got a Togo box to take home to dogs. Cashier asked if everything was okay but when we explained still charged for it. Asked to see manager and after waiting another 10 minutes she still wasnt at all apologetic. Finally just left. I have been going to cracker barrel for years but will never ever go back.

This morning while visiting Hampton Virginia for my daughter’s Wedding. I decide to try this Craker Barrel, I really made a bad choice to try to have breakfast at this location. The first problem was I gave the host my cell number to text me when the table was ready , unfortunately I did get a text and I was sitting outside in the rocking chair. No one never call me over the speaker or text me. The second problem was after I was taken to my table waited to receive my b and egg hash brown casserole. I waited like 45 minutes. After waiting 45 minutes I told my waitress that I couldn’t wait any longer .

Skip this restaurant untill they can hire more servers. After a twenty minute wait to be seated and another twenty minute wait my 16 dollar pancake and egg meal was good after it finally arrived, but service was nonexistent. No coffee, no napkins, no water refill, no server. I complained to a manager and as I was leaving I was mocked by the hostess. They are hiring whatever walks through the door and customer service suffers. I understand that nobody wants to work now. If a manager reads this review dont bother replying with a please contact me, yada yada spiel. You know there are problems but to mock a customer for drawing attention to it means youve lost this one for awhile. That wouldnt happen at Tommys a bit up the road. In a case like this I will give this place a year time out from my dirty money.

I ordered my chicken fried chicken at 3:05 this afternoon online got there 45mins later, I let them know that I have arrived. Sat out there 30mins later they telling me theyre out of chicken thats rediculous the time sitting outside I kept on calling for my food no told me anything. The manager and most of the staff are very very rude. This is insane. This not the first time this is the 3rd time. Social distancing is in place. The meal was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I was pleased to see the womens room very clean; always an indication to me of the cleanliness of the establishment in general, which appeared very clean as well. The star of the visit was our server, Joshua; he didnt miss a beat. He made each member of our group feel catered to personally. He was very professional, polite and efficient. It was a great visit.

Service was seriously lacking. Orders were incorrect and/or forgotten, even when written down. I spilled my water; the server knew and never brought anything to clean the table, floor or the chair He failed to bring another drink until I was almost done with my meal. This visit was disappointing. The one in Chesapeake/Suffolk is much better. Hampton needs to step it up.

They take too long and they bring the bread out cold too long they dont bring all the food at one time. And sometimes you ask the waiter for something or waitress and theyll leave and take forever to come back. By the time they get back youre done eating whatever you had and thats cold if you wait for the waiter or waitress but other than that I do love cracker barrel. Then a lot of times theyre out of certain things I dont understand I dont know it anyway thats my take on cracker barrel I still love them I just want to step up the pace like they used to years ago

We had a 45 minute wait on a Sunday afternoon when all the tables were open. We waited 20 mins for a served when finally served. The restaurant was dirty, we never got our bread, and they got our order completely wrong. I’ll never eat here again. This place has no concern at all for customer service apparently. I like Cracker Barrel but this place was worse than a fast food restaurant in service and cleanliness and worse than a Michelin star restaurant for waiting.

Staffing shortages are affecting food quality and service. One section of the dining room was closed, the remaining two were packed to pre-Covid levels, with insufficient staff to serve us. I had biscuits and gravy with bacon. The biscuits were good. The white gravy was bland - no seasoning, no sausage bits. The bacon was crisp but dried out, as of it had been under heat lamps too long. I suspect (but cant be certain) that I picked-up a food-bourn illness - that or got a flu from one of the other dinners packed in the room. Thankfully, no indication of Covid. Probably not returning.

I haven’t really been disappointed at a Cracker Barrel before. it always feels good and homey inside. I had eggs for dinner and my son had grilled chicken and vegetables . I ordered DoorDash twice because i don’t have my car at the moment and yesterday they for got my bacon and ice cream , today they forgot my cobbler/ice cream and my side order of broccoli. WHOEVER IS DOING TOGO NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. 1) we waited over an hr and when we walked in there is an entire section open while the section we are in has every table being used.2) we are seated and no one comes up to us (10+ mins) however a lady is seated right after us and a waitress approached her to take her drink order. I would not recommend this location to my worst enemy. We had never been and my daughter wanted it for breakfast for her birthday. We got there and tried to get on the waitlist at the check in and no hostess came. Someone else waiting told me I could get on the list on my phone while we waited for the hostess to come back. I checked in at 9:38 a.m and received a text saying it was a 10-15 min wait which was fine. We sat outside and enjoyed the rocking chairs and hour passed and finally we were told there was a table available. Once we were seated we see there is only a couple tables with people and the rest are open. I see 6 or 7 waitresses so it wasn’t making sense why there was an hour wait to get a table. Once we did our drink order the waitress spilled drink on my daughter and the table she did say sorry but didn’t even try to help clean it up or offer napkins. We placed our food order at 10:45 and never saw our waitress again. Food was coming out to tables that got seated way after us. Finally a girl who was not our waitress brought our food at 11:40. Items were missing from one order, the meat was raw, the hashbrowns had been cooked so much the centers were gone basically, the scrambled eggs looked like a sheet of eggs scraped off the bottom of a pan. Overall it looked like slop. The waitress got the manager who was completely unbothered about the poor service. Other staff started talking about us. After being there two hours we walked out without eating. The only decent person was the one bussing tables and I tipped them 10 dollars simply because they asked if we needed anything during our two hour wait. Service was horrible.

After placing my order online, I patiently waited outside for 30 minutes for my food which was supposed to be ready at 8:14. It wasnt... It is now 8:26 and I have to ask the cashier for a status. She comes back and says that they were bagging it up now but they didnt have one of the entrees I ordered. Really??? No one felt the need to tell me this at any point before now??? Well here we go again. What a total disaster of a restaurant. Although there are numerous bad reviews below, I thought Id give them a chance. Why did I do that?! Absolutely horrible experience. First, I asked for a seat near the window.....I could clearly see the table sitting there VACANT, however I was made to stand and WAIT 5 minutes for someone to clean a table that was not dirty! Then on top of that AFTER she cleaned the table it was wet and nasty. I had to ask for napkins, which never came, to clean it. So after all of this I was finally remembered after sitting at my table for another 5 minutes and my order was taken. What a total disaster! I will never ever come to this restaurant again! The table in front of me was VACATED BEFORE I was seated...20 minutes later...its still the same. This place is a joke. Please skip them...run in another direction....it doesnt even matter what direction just not this one! To top it off and what offended me the MOST is my waitress PASSED my table at least 7 times before my order came; she greeted the lady behind me every time, but never once spoke to me! Is there a problem? Oh, clearly there is! Oh and when I pulled up the employee was sitting outside BLASTING HIS VULGAR MUSIC. How is that professional? At least I have my own opinion and its not hearsay! Throw the entire restaurant in the trash. Pittiful.

They have revamped the menu and some of the recipes. The portions are also different, much smaller. We had a new server who should have still been in training. All in all, meh.

Took 35 minutes to be seated and then almost another 45 to have our food at our table. While I don’t blame the waitress, I do blame management on poor scheduling and not helping out. Heck, we even offered to bus our own table to get seated sooner but I guess it didn’t matter since everything else in poorly handled.

Food was good, however it was almost time to eat again by the time we got our food. Got here at 1:07pm Saturday 5-1-21, several tables came and went, we finally left at 3:00pm put our day completely behind schedule. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait this long for food at a restaurant.

I always love Cracker barrel. We usually have a very friendly, helpful server. They have some cool things in the country store. I actually found a Game of Thrones cup I love and bought. Thankfully the fire wasnt going yet, because then its too hot!

Mehrz, the manager, and Shauna are awesome!!! Im a truck driver, got back in town Thanksgiving morning. I called for a family dinner and they made it happen after being turned down by 3 other Cracker Barrels. Im so thankful for the both of them to make sure my family had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. Kudos to all the employees who sacrificed their own Thanksgiving with family, to make sure all other families had a nice meal for the holiday. I love you guys and will definitely be back. Poor customer service! They could at least greet the customer instead of walking pass like theyre not there. The only nice employee was the guy sweeping the parking lot, he saw how long I was waiting and offered to help me.

This store is always loaded with so many interesting items! You can always find something great.The food is good homestyle cooking, with good portions. Most of the time the service is good. Every now and then you might encounter a worker who appears not to want to serve EVERYONE, but that doesnt happen too often.

Ive been going to this Cracker Barrel for years and as always the service was great along with my meal being wonderful. Wait times are a little long because of pandemic guidelines and state laws however the wait just allowed me to explore all the goodies in the store.

The food is as good as any cracker barrel but they must have an issue finding good people to work. Very slow service and long wait times....even when the parking lot is damn near empty. Too bad.
