I did not have to wait long on this visit to Gaston Eye Associates. I was called in shortly after I arrived at the office, had the initial check and then went to the exam room. Again, no long wait for Dr. Foster and I did also did not wait long after my eyes were dilated. The staff is friendly, Dr. Foster always answers my questions. I am getting good eye care at Gaston Eye Associates.

Love Dr Foster and staff. Very friendly atmosphere. Once I had an emergency visit, they were very attentive to my needs received immediate proper care and then received an referral to a specialist in another field for further evaluation. I highly recommend them, you will not be disappointed.

The staff is friendly but the wait times are ridiculous. Spent around 3+ hours for my daughters yearly visit. It seems like they overbook appointments to make sure they have plenty of patients even if someone cancels. The majority of our time there was spent waiting.

They are wonderful! The staff from the time you walk through the door are so kind and helpful. The doctors have excellent bedside manner. They listen and are very understanding. We’ve been to the one in Gastonia and the one in Dallas and had the same experience with both sets of staff they truly care. Sadly we moved about an hour away but they are worth the travel time.

This was our first trip to Gaston Eye for glasses. My two kids, ages 9 & 18, and myself, all saw Dr. Mazhari. He was great! My youngest had his appointment the day before my oldest and me and when his appointment was over I made sure my oldest and I were going to be seeing Dr. Mazhari too. He was great with my youngest, who has ADHD and can be a little challenging, especially when needing to sit still. He was professional but personable and we will definitely request appointments with him for our next eye exams.

It was time for my adult son to get fitted for glasses. The pandemic has been a challenge for him and for us his parents because he has special needs and refuses to wear a mask or face cover. I spoke with Jay Velez the Optical Coordinator about how to handle this situation. He blew me away when he offered to open the store on any Saturday or Sunday to accommodate us! So of course we made arrangements for that to happen. He came in on his own time. He was very professional and kind. We took our time getting the right pair of glasses for him. My son got a little antsy. Jay was very calm with him. He had a Guess? bag that he brought out for my son to engage with (it had crayons, pens and paper to create with) and it was for him to keep! So talk about service I am very impressed! Thank you Jay and Gastoneye for exceptional service! You took our stress away :)

I had a scheduled appt last week as a new patient, I was asked to come in 30 min early for paperwork which I did. After filling out my paperwork I was given an initial exam by one of the staff, she was very friendly and had a nice conversation with her before being shown to the room to wait. after waiting an additional 45 min the doctor came in and immediately had an attitude with me, he said I was not on the regular patient schedule and mumbled some other stuff which I did not understand. I let him know I had been waiting a while and he grew angry immediately and said he did not have to treat me. I said I was just letting you know that my time is valuable also and he completely lost it, started yelling at me, saying to get out of his building and even dropped a few F Bombs which shocked me. I took time of for this appointment and got cleaned up and waited over an hour so I was 3 hours of time into this and had a doctor lose it. I asked for his manager and he got right up in my face, social distancing was out the window and yelled at me that he was the owner and get the F out. Just wow, I do not believe this man should be allowed to treat anyone and certainly owes me an apology and a check for my time. Sick and tired of supposed professional losing their marbles and getting a pass. His business or building regardless, he should not be able to treat people this way and I was the one that everyone was looking at which was quite embarrassing and I know for a fact I was not out of line or rude when speaking to him. Best of luck if you risk your eye health to him. Will end by saying everyone there but the Dr himself was very cordial and polite and nice to talk to you deal with.

Everything was fine until a stuck up woman with long blondish hair and glasses told us that the most inexpensive pair would come with a $119 copay. She didnt really even glance at his insurance. He is in fact entitled to a pair with a $2 copay. Now I am a metastatic breast cancer patient and he has had a stroke. I am supposed to take him out with no car to get measurements for glasses and then wait 10 weeks for them, she lied and mislead us, So because of her I would never recommend your business to anyon

I was a patient at GEA for more than 18 years even though there is no diversity on the staff I continued as a patient because of the respect for Dr. Foster. It’s unfortunate that I cannot tell the whole story here however due to the unprofessionalism and the public attack on my character by the optical coordinator Jay who told me on two occasions, “I work with him or No one” and the office manager Ms. Trotter who did Nothing about my “verbal grievance “ against Jay my relationship with GEA ended on April 28, 2021 . The Services of the Blind have tried to get authorization for my glasses since January 2021 the process was Not smooth due to the misconduct and verbal unprofessionalism of Jay. After reporting him to Ms. Trotter and requesting twice not to interact with him she ignored my complaint and instead said that, “I was disrespectful and not nice to her staff.”: I was notified a week prior to 4-28-21 by the Services for the Blind that authorization had been complete and that I could go and get fitted for my glasses. April 28 I received a phone call from Jay after I put in A grievance against him back in February 2021. I reached out to Ms. Trotter on that day and explain to her that I had put in a grievance and that unfortunately she did not handle it because I just received a call from Jay . Her reply to me over the phone was that I was disrespectful and that I could work with someone else if I liked (short version of conversation) When I arrived at the office I requested to speak to Ms. Trotter, I explain to her that I was there to get fitted for my glasses. On this particular day the office was crowded with wall-to-wall people in every chair and standing along the wall no social distance at all ! In front of patients and staff she says to me “that no one wants to work with me and that I’m a disrespectful person.” I was very confused by that statement because I had just entered there and I was just coming to get fitted for my glasses. I asked her to explain why she made that statement but instead she kept saying “calm down , I have written in your file that you’re disrespectful while walking me over to the optical department.” If I was so disrespectful and out of control why would she be walking me to optical and why didn’t someone call the police to have me removed ? Short story once in optical I encountered J there after I kept asking not to work with him. I sat down and was waiting for someone to get my measurements but instead I was told by Ms.Trotter and J nobody wanted to work with me and that she was going to call the police on me. On this day I was humiliated, embarrassed and publicly attacked verbally. I am a public leader and very mindful of how to carry myself in my community I have never encountered anything like I did on April 28, 2021. I recently received an notarize letter from GEA stating that I am no longer welcome there . This all happened because A staff member disrespected me and I spoke up for myself. I didn’t verbally attack anymore I didn’t call anyone out of their name and I did not threaten anymore because that is not my character . #Disabilitiesmatter

Dr. Foster is the best!!! I have 4th nerve palsy from a head trauma. I am totally cross sighted w/o glasses. I have to have prism ground into my glass lens. This can be trickery to get the perfect prism measurements (distance and close-up) for each eye. I have perfectly crispy clear vision thanks to Dr. Foster. ❤

After several attempts to get an appointment through email ( that apparently no one checks), several phone calls leaving voicemails I finally get an appointment. I called the Dallas office to set up an appointment, get to the office early only to have the staff tell me they have no Dr. in the office today and that my appointment is at the Gastonia location (no one ever told me my appointment was at the Gastonia location considering I called the Dallas office). I chose this practice because Dallas is more convenient than Gadtonia. That being said Ill be going back to Lens Crafters for my contacts. Thanks for nothing Gaston Eye Associates!

Arrived at 2 for my 2:15 appointment. All paperwork was completed online prior to the visit. I wasnt called back until a few minutes before 3. Bp taken and intraocular pressure checked before being placed in another waiting room for just a minute, where I remained for another 30 minutes. I didnt get out of there until 4:45. I spent several hours there for a routine eye exam. I would not recommend unless you have an entire afternoon to throw away.

Walked into building and waited in line (Socially Distancing),of course. Woman walks in and bypasses the line and the receptionist waits on her as if there wasnt one. At this point I am upset because that same receptionist was to busy to help the line move. The staff were all courteous and professional. They answered any questions I had. I saw Dr. Foster and absolutely loved him. He performed the most thorough eye exam I have ever had and im 58 y.o. and Ive worn corrective lens since I was in elementary school. He explained everything he was doing, why he was doing it and what he found or saw. When I was ready to pick out my glasses, I didnt feel rushed and the young lady that helped us was very patient and helpful. She told us about all of our different lens options and the cost of each. I have been going to My Eye Dr for the past 2 years. I DO NOT recommend going there.Thank you Gaston Eye Associates for such a good experience.

Had an eye appointment here for consistent pain in one of my eyes. I was very nervous as ive never been to an eye dr and also was worried about what was wrong with my eye. Turned out to be a common issue. The dr wss professional and showed care about how nervous i was. He explained exactly what the issue was and found out id benefit greatly from eyeglasses! Their understanding of insurance benefits is questionable. We told them numerous times we had met our max out of pocket. They convinced us the more expensive lenses for cataract surgery would eliminate the need for ANY glasses. Spent $4500 on this, not covered by insurance, which we understood. However, they told us that we absolutely HAD to pay a huge fee to the surgery center as well (not true, this was just the fee for the surgery center itself - anesthesia, etc, which IS covered by insurance). I paid it because otherwise they wouldnt do it, and then, got a refund in the mail a few months later. Was also told the $4500 fee included all follow up and any touch ups for up to a year.. Not true, we had to pay for follow ups. The doctor was fine, very routine. This place is always packed out and always running behind. They forgot us for over an hour once because someone went to lunch and didnt tell the person covering we were there.

My partner had an emergency eye injury last night and while googling places for emergency eye care, this office came up. I called and the answering service had the doctor call me back. One of the first questions the doctor asked was if my partner was a patient of the practice and when I said no, he said there wasnt anything he could do to help. He said the emergency visits were only for established patients. When I asked what his advice was to do in this case, he said the ER was probably the only option, I said thanks, and he just hung up on me. Extremely rude and not helpful at all. If I were on the search for an eye doctor, this place would NOT be it!

I was treated most unfairly at the intake desk after staff discovered that I was a nurse in an emergency room. An office manager was called to the front and essentially wanted to refuse treatment to both my daughter and myself based on my place of employment. She not only made my daughter and myself feel as if we were not worthy of medical treatment she also humiliated us in front of entire lobby. After discussing with her the absurdity of this mindset, she finally agreed to allow the intake staff to finish checking us in. The rest of the staff was very kind and friendly and never once were my daughter or myself made to feel humiliated by any other staff except for this one staff member. I understand the great fear of covid, I literally work with it and live with that fear every day but to be made to feel that we were unworthy and undeserving of medical treatment like this was unacceptable. After I receive my final order of glasses, I, nor my daughter will not be back as customers which is unfortunate because I truly like our doctors and the rest of the staff.

The wait time and staff were great. i thought that Dr Lowery was very knowledgeable but a very loud hyper individual. I felt he was rude as well when i ask question about my eyes and his diagnoses. did not even give me a response time. My wife scheduled a 3:15 appointment and they requested she get there early. Well she was called in the back about 3:25 but not seen by the doctor till 4:25! You know if we were and hour late getting there they wouldn’t see us. Greed gets in the way and they overbook forgetting that the patients are actually people with lives and hectic schedules too. Not the only eye place in town so you’d think they would try to make the visit pleasant and punctual. I will try somewhere else for myself .

My appointment was at 3:15 but I arrived around 2:45. I was taken back and the assistant did the precheck items. She took my eye measurements, checked my vision and eye pressure. There were no exam rooms available and they had me sit in a waiting area. I sat there no one acknowledged me or said anything. After about 45 minutes my husband and I went to the receptionists desk to be sure they planned on seeing me. She checked and said my file was in the doctors door and it shouldnt be much longer. After another 10-15 minutes the nurse came and put me in an exam room and about 10 minutes later the doctor came in. He did mention that they had several emergencies that day but as I realize now didnt apologize. I have not experienced this in the past and have been going there for about 10 years. Someone should have reached out and explained the delay and at the very least apologized.

I have waited for months to leave a review until emotions had settled and hopefully eye sight improve. The process, the staff and treatment was flawless. Then there is my experience with Dr. Lund, who came highly recommend. Each encounter was rushed, I felt like a quick hit paycheck. The end result is that I see what I can describe as dark rims on the outer edges of each eye. As explained by him and my optometrist, there is a size difference with my new lens and my eye with light transferring through the lens to the retina. This is not something I will ask for another operation for the correctly sized lens, i just will not go through that operation again. Dr. Lunds demeanor is that of a rehearsed actor who cannot stop and start with his scripted consultation, if you interrupt to ask clarification, it throws him off kilter. Result? At 60, I am looking at going through the rest of my life with the wrong size lens and seeing rims on the outer edges of my line of sight. In my experience, I believe it wise for you to make him slow down during your exams/interviews, ask him again and again about using the right size lens to replace your cataracts. If you dont, you will be in the percentage of patients who end up like me, tolerating this for the rest of my life. The practice has no after care follow up to check on patients with the things happening to them. I recommend they invest in patient post surgery care. 1 month, 4 months, 9 month afterwards. It could only help Dr. Lund improve. Instead they send you back to your regular eye doctor, who did confirm what I was told the cause by Dr. Lund. That is an extremely awkward consultation for your eye doctor who is in no position to make a change in your situation. What recourse do patients have? I will not go through another surgery to correct. Day, the sight is still not as advertised if it had been done correctly. Three stars is an attempt to acknowledge the practice and the auxiliary support staff who could not have provided a better experience.

The Dr. I saw was nice, professional, and took the time to tell me about my exam even though they were very busy and he seemed a little rushed. The office staff is another story. They were not very friendly and seemed to be annoyed that I was there. They weren’t rude, but not friendly either. Then I went back to pick up my new glasses. There was a power outage. That’s very inconvenient for everyone and if I were there for an exam I would understand why that would need to be rescheduled. I just need to pick up my glasses. That doesn’t require power. I was told I couldn’t have them because their computers didn’t work. I told the lady that I had gotten off work early to get there before they closed and asked if she could write down the info she needed and give me my glasses. I was told no and that I would have to come back another day. They didn’t even tell me why they had to have a computer to give me my glasses. If it’s not convenient for them then they will not do it. They are either lazy or they do not care if it’s inconvenient for you. My insurance and I paid over $1000 for these glasses and I can’t have them until it’s convenient for them to give them to me. Piss pore customer service and down right rudeness has cost this place a customer and a bad review.

Took my mother for cataract surgery. I had no problem with the doctor. Billing was more interested in getting the money up front, never filed the insurance, and we were left paying over $600 out of pocket. Receptionist and nursing staff was quite rude, not only to us, but others around us. Will not go back to Gastonia office. We will only use the Dallas office from now on.

Took my daughter there last month for her first eye exam, and first pair of glasses. The ladies were very nice, as well as the doctors. They made her very comfortable, and even though I had my other 2 children along (ages 9 and 5) they were very accomodating. Never once got the evil eye. I will be bringimy my other kids in for their exams- as well as my own exam- very soon.

Although Dr. Lund has always been very professional and friendly, the office staff are rude and uncaring. They really need additional training in how to be attentive and nice to their customers. If you are looking for good customer service you may want to look elsewhere.

Horrible, could not tell me how much visit would cost for a simple contact lens appointment. In addition to that there is a fitting fee for contacts? really ridiculous that by the time my visit is through with them I will have paid about $200 to $300 for a SIMPLE contact lens appointment that normally costs $79 to $99. Sorry sucker someone else!!!
