There was a 20% gratuity, which would be fine with me if the service was good. We were allowed to sit for only 1 hour. We came in with a party of 5 for a celebration. At exactly 1 hour, the host approached the table and asked us to leave because she said there was another party waiting. We still had desserts and drinks. We decided to leave the desserts (that we paid for) and grab our drinks to go drink by the bar. The same lady said we weren’t allowed to drink there either. I don’t understand why we were asked to leave when they were a lot of empty tables. The host should learn how to use judgements before asking people to leave. The food was great! But bad service
Great spot for vegetarian food! You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. All of the dishes are such great comfort food while also having no meat.Personal favorites include the Portobello Truffle Melt and the Cuban. You can’t go wrong with any of the sides - they’ve got regular fries, waffle fries, and sweet potato fries which are all great.
This place is a MUST irrespective of whether you are vegan or not. The food is fresh and amazing. The people are genuinely respectful
Okay I love vegan food restaurants but really they have fast food vegan food (burgers, hot dogs, nachos). very casual place so don’t dress up! I will go again if I am in the area.
Super nice place inside and out! Decoration are very colorful and fun. Lots of people bring their dogs and sit outside and the staff are very friendly! Great coffee and nice place to work as well. Great place to come either for a quick coffee, hang out or work! My puppy loves it there too!!! always fun to meet other dogs there.
I called about chicago dinner Italian beef and sausage; which are seasonal. And they told me they never carried them like I was from another planet.So I asked to speak to a manager, and she said she was a manager. The person who answered the was not knowledgeable about chicago dinners product and hangup on me. I fine this to be very rude and unacceptable since I Im a chicago dinner customer and has been for a while. Totally disrespectful and unacceptable coming from a place I have shop with for about two years if not longer.
Reservations only- no dine in.Wow! Thia wings are impressive flavors and texture! Sauces are soooo good. Unique flavors which as a vegan is what I look for. Spicy chicken sandwich wasn’t very good, I’ve had far better. Looks interesting tho but taste was bland and the texture was very tough and chewy unlike the wings. Sweet potato fries are really tasty!However, Milk shakes are incredible. Best mint chocolate I’ve ever had and my husband said the same about the strawberry. Great job y’all! We will come back. -nice friendly staff. Looks cool inside also. They have a bar area as well as lounge.
Visited on a date. We had the vegan wings for an app. They were delicious! My BF had the Cajun burger and loved it. I had the Thai stir fry. It was too much flavor for me. I wish I would have chosen tofu instead of whatever I chose. The service was good. Drinks were good. Overall a good experience. I wasnt blown away but we were satisfied.

My first time dining at the Chicago Diner was for my birthday, with my boyfriend and we had the most wonderful experience! The food was fantastic, and the staff was very nice and conscious of keeping everyone (patrons and staff) safe. I would highly recommend visiting Chicago Diner!
The Ruebens rolls were so incredibly greasy, the to-go box was swimming in oil. I ended up giving them to a person on the street. I didnt expect it to be fried as nothing in the description eluded to this. The cinnamon roll was so so delicious though and one of the waiters was super cute so I wouldnt mind coming back and trying something else if Im ever in Chicago. The prices really suck though.
I love the food at Chicago Diner. A fabulous vegan restaurant. Their vegan shakes are delicious! The vegan chili, Lentil Loaf, Mac ‘n “cheese”, Cajun burger and veggies are all great!
Their food is delicious!! I had their pierogi quesadillas, which had a little too much sauerkraut in them for my taste. Their chocolate peanut butter milkshake more than made up for it. I am also a huge fan of their Spicy Crispy Chicken sandwich. It is my go to order whenever I visit. One of the best vegan places I have been to hands down.
Went here because I heard that the food is great, but they dont take walk-ins an hour before close, which comes with a free side of poor attitude when you walk in to ask. If you close at 8pm and offer dine-in, you should offer seating up until that point, otherwise, it should be clearly posted with your business hours as this isnt the standard for any restaurant that Ive dined at. Needless to say, I wont be coming back here and I will encourage my many vegan/vegetarian friends to go elsewhere as well.
Went back today 7/18/21 and had brunch for the first time since quarantine. The hostess Jenny was very nice and sat us promptly at our reservation time. Also they took social distancing precautions seriously. We felt safe and comfortable being back. Cant wait to have brunch again next week. :)
Place is so great! The food was amazing and flavorful. I went with my friend here and we both shared plates. We got the nachos, BBQ wings and Cuba sandwich plus chocolate and strawberry milkshakes. Everything tasted wonderful and I think it would be best to share plates if you are drining with someone. Between my friend and I we were able to divide everything and even had leftovers to take home. They do take reservations first come first serve because of covid restrictions and are very friendly. I cant wait to come back :)

OMG!!! The Thai chili wings are to kill for!! Fortunately we dont need to do that because we can get them at the Chicago diner! The cinnamon rolls are just the best. Friendly folks too!!

Really tasty and delicious food. My spouse likes the gyro and I am a fan of the reuben and titanic burger. Very large portions and just about everything on their menu Ive tried Ive liked. On our recent trip though the wait staff was pretty rude and not friendly. It was apparent they didnt want to be working, just poor communication all around.
Chicago Dinner is your classic Chicago vegan comfort food stop. Only reason I dont give em 5 stars is that seitán is always the star if the show here and if that is not your jam your really missing the party. Also if you have celiac i would be very careful about eating here due to the shear amount of gluten the diner dispenses on a daily basis.However the food is good! Certainly Ive had some less than impressive dishes, but if you stick to the classics the Diner never fails to satisfy.
Serves was superb, food was supper quick and hot. The ONE thing that rubbed me wrong was, we had a reservation and when we walked in the hostess told us we had 1 hour total and we were 10 minutes late so she said we only had 50 minutes total. We was NEVER told this when we called and made our reservations. This made my girl mad because we drove over a hour and a half to be seated down to rush to eat. For this reason we probably wouldnt come again.
The place is well, we went with my husband at Saturday July 10th, but unfortunately we cant dine in because, they dont have available tables and we have to wait almost one hour for one!.They required face mask yet.My advice is make a reservation if you plans stay at the restaurant or if you just wanna enjoy the meal order online for take out or delivery. And dont forget your face mask.
Our experience here was pretty decent. Our server was nothing but great. Some of the food was awesome, and some of it was not. We started out with the Thai Chili wings, which were pretty bomb. We also snagged a “large” cookie dough milkshake to start. It definitely was not large and was like $8. It literally had 1 little chunk of cookie dough in it, so that was a bit of a downer. Small and almost no cookie dough.. I got the chicken fried steak and hubby got the Buddha karma burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was decent and the fries were yummy. The chicken fried steak and gravy were bland, to be honest. We’re glad we went, but would definitely do it different next time. Oh, we also grabbed a snickerdoodle cookie on our way out. It wasn’t bad, but it was doughy—like actually doughy in the middle. Usually I’m into that, but it wasn’t quite good enough a flavor for that. More cinnamon, and it could have been really great!
Always have the best food! Titanic BLT is my favorite with the strawberry shake on the side. If you are in need for a new Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant this is it!!

This is where we go to when we are in the city. A well established vegetarian eatery with a large menu, something for everyone. We have brought friends that are not vegetarian and they too enjoyed their meals very much. Thanks to all the wonderful staff and owners!
Such a disappointing experience. I ordered scrambled tofu and the tofu was definitely overcooked the vegetables were good. What they called barbecue chicken is more like barbecue ribs. And the waitress forgot to bring us our shakes and by the time we reminded her she said that they kitchen was closed and we couldnt get our shakes which probably was going to be the only thing I would have been really enjoyed there. The barbecue ribs as they called chicken was very good because of course its got barbecue sauce on it. There was very few dishes that offer vegetables they no longer have the apple pie if you just want a sandwich or a shake then I would recommend this place. The seats are made out of wood so if you dont like sitting on wood bring your own pillow
I was very excited to return to this location for indoor dining; however, the door staff was rude and took two minutes to acknowledge me standing at the counter. Both women were staring into a screen until one rudely looked up and asked how could she help me? The food also reflected the negative energy in there as well because it was not as good as I remembered. I did not finish my meal and was disappointed in the experience.
Love the food.Always love eating the food from here but the customer service is questionable sometimes. Waited inside for a takeout order just to be met with a rude comment towards me not wearing a mask while waiting. I tipped too and it was just rude and unnecessary.

Ive had my eye on this place for quite some time and i was really excited to finally be able to stop by and grab lunch. i had pretty high expectations based on the reviews and my expectations were totally surpassed.we were seated right away and the staff were all very kind and helpful if we had questions or concerns. our food came out quickly (around what would be expected on average at any restaurant).we ordered the harvest salad, which i would definitely recommend to anybody who enjoys a fall themed salad with a citrusy vinaigrette. there were quite a few onions which i wasnt the biggest fan of but they are easy to avoid if one wanted to and its all up to preferences. we also ordered the buddhas karma burger and a side of balsamic brussels sprouts which were a very tasty choice!! i also really enjoyed the buddhas karma burger - the pineapple and sweet potato/tofu patty go really well together and all the flavors mix perfectly!! i absolutely loved the patty; safe to say i will definitely be ordering this again.the smores brownie sundae was delicious. the graham cracker, chocolate chips, marshmallow, whipped cream, rich brownie, and vanilla ice cream with the chocolate sauce all create this wonderful dessert that i could eat any day - especially when i could get a little bit of each on my spoon!! im not a huge chocolate lover, but this dessert alone may change my mind. i would definitely recommend ordering this to all my chocolate fans out there.overall, this restaurant had excellent service and tasty food. i would recommend this place to vegans, vegetarians, or even meat eaters wanting to try some vegetarian cuisine!! i really will be coming back as soon as i can to eat here again.
Delightful service and solid vegan food! Most of the meats are seitan-based, but there are some decent-looking gluten free options like the truffle-mushroom-lentil loaf. I ordered the thai wings (seitan) and the dreamboat cocktail (mezcal, jalapeno, pineapple).The wings are crispy on the outside and soft (with a nice chewiness) on the inside. Lathered in thai sauce thats kind of like upgraded bbq. The sauce on the side is also tasty.Cant wait to come back next time I visit Chicago.
I have been dying to come to this place and I’m SO glad I finally got the chance with a group of friends. This place is amazing, not only the food, but the people too and I really appreciate and respect all their safety precautions.I am allergic to all dairy and started incorporating more plant-based meals into my diet and it’s been tough finding alternatives. But not here, everything on their menu is vegan with the option of using real dairy if you wanted. I didn’t think they had alcohol but they did and r were so happy to get a vegan boozy brunch!We ordered family style and did the Cuban sandwich, “fish tacos” “crispy chicken” sandwich, biscuits and gravy with Mac & “cheese”, Brussels sprouts and waffle fries and all of it was absolutely delicious! Hands down my favorites were biscuits & gravy and Mac & “cheese” oh and to top it all off we did choc chip cookie dough & salted caramel shakes to go even though we were so full I couldn’t pass on that.I will 1000% be back for either dine in or takeout. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation and check it out!!
Good food. Got the Thai wings and jalapeno poppers to-go. Wings were dense but flavorful, would have again. Poppers had a crunchy and delightful batter, but was expecting a faux cream cheese opposed to the cheddar they had, wasnt too impressed with that aspect. Poppers ranch dipping sauce was phenomenal though. Cookies were delicious, but would like to see and taste them without saran wrap... it always seems to impart some flavor, unfortunately

The food is not worth the disrespectful service. Very rude staff. Asked if they can substitute dairy cheese for vegan and the girl there seemed very annoyed with an attitude. As much as I’d love to say this had nothing to do with my skin color, it very much seems as though it did. First time and last time customer here.

As long time fans of The Chicago Diner, we were very disappointed by our last visit on 08/14. Due to traffic, we showed up to our reservation 10 minutes late. Upon arrival, the greeter was very frustrated with us while repeatedly emphasizing the one hour dining limit and that they would remind us to leave. While we understand that tables are limited and business may be strained due to COVID, we felt unwelcome. We have loved Chicago Diner in the past due to its delicious food and friendly service and were put off by this behavior. We decided to stay and eat as we had driven 3 hours, but were unsatisfied with the experience due to this initial interaction. Everyone else was friendly and attentive and the food did not disappoint. However, this recent interaction made us feel unappreciated and will likely not be returning for a while.

One of the best pure vegetarian restaurants I’ve ever been to. I love their variety of options and everything tastes wonderful. I go here on a monthly basis and I’m very rarely disappointed with anything that I eat here. We are especially fond of the Thai Chili wings to start. My non-vegetarian friends also enjoy coming here and they also don’t feel like they are missing out on anything.
They brought out a Moscow mule that had been with sour mix. Had put egg on my vegan meal, and service in general was lack luster.

This place is delicious! Very cozy and comfortable and makes is a great twist to traditional diner spots that are conventionally not as friendly to vegetarian and vegan people. The ‘chicken’ burger, soup, and Mac and ‘tease’ were all very good. Highly recommend stopping by and checking this place out.

Great Little Spot! Vegan food for days, at a moderate to high price. The vegan milkshake was $7 alone and not very thick but it was very chocolate forward and the whip cream was delicious! I got the Rueben with sweet potato fries and it was amazing! I have never had a non vegan Rueben so I cant compare but I was very pleased with it. The sweet potato fries were all so crispy, sweet and savory. Service was ok, nothing stood out but it wasnt bad. The straws were compostable as well which i appreciate. Will recommend and come here again.
Awesome restaurant and pretty gourmet menu options. Menu actually scared me first due to actual names of meat dish and tbh it made me nervous to place order. But then the Vegan tag did help a little.The only restaurant so far that has implemented covid safe pickup process ... Really impressive

“For being a vegan place, that was the best service we’ve ever gotten.” Usually the wait staff is so anemic at these establishments, it keeps me from coming back! Staff here was fine. Bartender seemed friendlier.Food was tasty, prices fair to high. Cocktail was not that great but fairly priced and the beer was fab.Mask and sanitation policy SUPER intense (and gratuity of 20% added to ALL checks)—i.e. not in line with current cdc recommendations. I’m only passing through, so I don’t know if it’s a Chicago thing, a paranoia thing, or a virtue-signaling thing. It made the atmos less ideal. Whenever they loosen up, I’d recommend it!

In this wave of Expensive New American food with a nice ambiance, Chicago Diner’s restaurant in Logan is a blend of the industrial chique tied to the history of the neighborhood along with the basic-runge brought by gentrifiers. Their menu offers everything and a bit more for what you could get in a inner city diner but it’s plant based and can be made vegetarian or vegan! Ive had everything from their Monte Cristo for breakfast, thai chili wings and Reuben for lunch and their Buddha burger with a carrot cake share for dinner. Once Chicago Diner continues their innovative and move away from the New American trend I think their offerings will match their uniqueness as a stop-all for those who are plant-based, vegan and vegetarian.

First time dining at this restaurant. Way far more than I expected the would taste. My family ordered different entrees that we just shared. Love the Thai Chili wings, Portabella Truffle melt, and the Radical Reuben was superb. And ofcourse, vegan dessert. We had the Smores Sundae brownie. Will definitely come back.
5 words: Y. U. M. M. Y!!!I had the chicken fried steak, which comes with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes although theyre hidden underneath the massive steak in the accompanying pic. I also got a side of mac & cheese and drank the cucumber lavender lemonade. Over half of my meal went home with me so no worries about portions. And my server, Nathan, was a doll.Still pleasantly puzzled by this all-vegan find with soooo many options. Heading back to TX tomorrow afternoon but plan to come by for a second sitting if at all possible. Id like to try a milkshake and the stroganoff poutine.
One of the places in Chicago land where you can order Bacon and remain vegetarian. They have been doing this since 1983. I loved the way how people start pouring in. It was house full within 10 mins time for dinner. I am talking literally at 6:45 PM on a Monday. This place was packed.I was super hungry, and food didn’t take long to come on the table.In my plate/plates is1)The titanic BLT burger with mac n Teese(it’s not cheese😋)2) Buddhas Karma burger with waffle fries.Every bite of which was heavenly. This is a place I would recommend to anyone who fantasizes about tasting chickens without turning into a meat-eater.

Thai Chil Wings was really good, poutine was decent, The Soul Bowl was good however, Thai basil stir fry was very bad, I could just taste like soy sauce. So I couldnt eat much. Favorite place to get vegan food in the city! I’ve tried a variety of items from the Chicago Diner. I have to say the Cajun Black Bean burger is my all time favorite! The flavors from this burger is just incredible! Plus the sauce on the side enhances the flavors! Their shakes are super yummy, especially the pumpkin one which is in season right now. I’ve tried their spicy chicken sandwich and that is another favorite as well! There’s lots of options to pick from! Highly recommend!
Chicago Diner is one of my top favorite restaurants in Chicago. I used to visit frequently when I lived in the area; now I make it a point to get some Chicago Diner whenever I travel back to Illinois. The bbq wingz are an all-time fave! Cant go wrong with any of their shakes. I love the pierogi quesadilla and Reuben for entrees - though one cant go wrong with anything here. Highly recommended!Covid: currently dine-in is reservation only, reservations are limited to 1 hour. Masks are required to stay on inside unless you are eating/drinking. Social distancing is enforced, not all tables are utilized.
Ive been to The Chicago Diner three times now - twice in Logan Square and once in Boys Town. The service has always been great. The food is always delicious. This past time our party started with Spinach & Artichoke Dip. I cant even remember the last time I had its dairy-based equivalent but it was excellent. I had the S.U.V. sandwich with Teese Vegan Cheese and waffle fries on gluten-free bread. After, our party shared Key Lime Cheesecake. Its so nice to be vegan and gluten-free and have access to options that combined the two! Id like to see them get a warm dessert that is gluten-free and vegan, maybe a brownie or warm cookie but Ill return even if they dont.
I tried the Chicago Diner after hearing about how good the food was, and I’m SO glad I did! Their food is delicious and the menu is filled with plant based options! They’ve been doing this for a while and it shows, they’ve definitely mastered vegan/ cuisine. I had the tofu scramble and not everyone can do it right, but they did! And their vegan lattes are to die for. I wish there was a place like this where I live!!
