I came in to have my brakes/rotors & air conditioning condenser replaced. I shopped around and called a bunch of shops to see which would give me the best price. I found that it was generally the same throughout my neighborhood so I picked Zepeda since it came highly recommended on the Logan Square FB page.What I loved is that they would send an estimate through the e-mail with details and pictures and reasons why they recommend changing certain things. That was the first time I have experienced that. I was able to approve everything online and they began working on it when I clicked the approve button.David at the front desk is very good at responding quickly through e-mail and is generally on top of it. He was also polite & professional when I came to pick up my car.Zepeda doesnt actually attempt a quote over the phone or e-mail because they would prefer to do the whole inspection. I found that the price came out to a little less than what I was quoted throughout many shops. In the end, I am glad I picked Zepeda because it was a good value, the business is well run, and the estimate with pictures that arrived through e-mail. All in all, a very pleasant experience with Zepeda.

I came to Zepeda because my 2011 Subaru Legacy had multiple dashboard lights flashing all at once while driving (emergency BRAKE signal, the ABS warning light, and the AT OIL TEMP light).I initially tried to get in on Friday 7/23 to ensure it was safe to keep driving but they were too busy to squeeze me into the schedule. I ended up taking it to Midas on Fullerton and they diagnosed an issue and replaced a brake stoplight switch, but this only partially remedied my problem. When I left Midas, my AT OIL TEMP light was not only illuminated, but now repeatedly blinking. Midas told me to fully fix this problem I needed repairs to my exhaust/catalyst manifold. But I wanted a second opinion from Zepeda before authorizing any more work to be done.When I was able to get into Zepedas schedule on Thursday 7/29, they took the day to diagnose and repair the problem. No surprise, but I didnt need the repair Midas recommended. Also, Zepeda determined that the cause of the blinking AT OIL TEMP light was likely something the folks at Midas did when repairing the stoplight switch as the transmission module was disconnected.Ultimately, it took Zepeda just a day to fully inspect my car, confirm that I had no major issues, and send me on my way with no more illuminated dashboard lights for just a couple hundred dollars. They also ensured that some rattling sounds I was experiencing were nothing to be worried about and added new clamps to my loose heat shields to try to reduce the noisiness. They acknowledged that this could be fixed if I wanted, but recommended avoiding it because the cost is high versus the actual benefit received from the new parts needed.Overall a very pleasant experience working with David and the Zepeda team and I will definitely be back when I have routine maintenance or repairs needed. My only critique is that I had to call back the day after I dropped off the car to check and see if it was ready to be picked up. Not a big deal, but we were on our way out of town for the weekend and needed to know how we would be getting ourselves to the airport if the car wasnt done yet.Local shop with polite employees that have integrity. Sign me up for this every time I need work done on my car or home!

Its a night and day difference from my local mechanic who price gouges, doesnt complete work in a timely manner, and even does careless repair jobs that you have to pay someone else (Zepeda) to undo. Another contrast: the other day, I had my neighborhood mechanic do an inspection on a vehicle I was interested in. It took him 24 hours to complete and he sent me a text saying he recommended a battery change and tune up -- stuff I already knew. And this guy invoiced me over $100 for this! The flip side is Zepeda who takes photos of the vehicle and send you a detailed report -- valuable information you need when making a determination about a vehicle. I ended up passing on this car the other day, largely because I didnt trust my mechanics inspection. Its truly a huge relief to know that Im in good hands with these guys. My car wouldn’t start. They sent a tow truck to get it, which was super fast! The only thing I didn’t like was that I had to seek out updates, I would have preferred proactive updates. My car was having some issues. I have my go-to shop but due to snow and my move to this area, I gave this place a go. I’m very grateful I did. They did a superb job, timely including staying late, and gave a very good price. The invoice even showed doing some things for free including replacing air filter which I appreciated. I have had good work done at Zepeda, but found that they are not forthright when one returns to the shop because they made an error. My tire installation was great, very affordable, but then I discovered that at low highway speeds, the steering started to go out. This problem is usually caused by a tire install issue.At Zepeda, however, after reducing me to tears and insisting sight unseen that ice and snow in the wheel well were probably the issue, they came up with a $1200 estimate listing one longtime known issue and a couple of others not at all related. It took all day, unusual for them. When I asked for a written estimate, they sent me an iPhone photo of a computer monitor.I chose not to get the work done. The next time I drove (carefully) at low highway speeds, the problem was gone. They had repaired it. They just never admitted fault, thinking, I guess, that after squeezing me for over $1000 in work, I would think the problem had resolved because of the repairs.Super cool, guys.Norm’s in Rogers Park is where it’s at.

I knew that there was likely some major work that would have to be done when I brought my car in for inspection.Not only was the check-in process and assessment fast, efficient and personal, but they were able to get all the repairs completed within two business days. I especially appreciated the clarity and transparency of the Report I was provided before the work was done so I had a clear idea of exactly what was needed and why.

Great in depth diagnostics. The review they give you lays out exactly what needs done. I have a buddy with a shop two hours away. I asked if my car would make it that far and they were honest and said yes. Some shops will tell you things need done immediately just to get your business. Overall was happy with the price of the diagnostic and their honesty.

I heard good things about Zepeda Auto, so I made a point to come here, and I was not let down! I came in with a list of issues that I wanted to fix on my car, and not only did they check and diagnose those issues, but they also diagnosed other issues with my car that they didnt need to. It was really nice how the diagnosis came in an email report where I could see all the issues ranked by importance and get an honest assessment from Carlos on what was urgent and what could wait. Throughout that process, I felt very heard and never felt like they were trying to weasel money out of me. Not to mention, my repair, which involved suspension, brake, and alignment service, was done by the next day! I will definitely be coming back here!

I just moved into the neighborhood in august and had to find a new mechanic. Turns out, Zepeda is within a quarter mile of me, and I saw 4.8 stars so I decided to give them a go. I just had a leak in one tire, but still, I was impressed that I was offered same-day pickup since it was already afternoon. The total came to a reasonable price of $25, and all of my interactions with employees were professional and they were helpful and quick. Very pleased, and I will be coming back (hopefully I won’t need to soon though!)

Ive been going to zepeda for a few years now and its always a good experience. They are best when something suddenly goes wrong with my car - great level of communication. They also use this website that shows exactly what they found wrong with your car, level of emergency in terms of it needing to be fixed, and images of proof.

I’ve gone to Zepeda twice now and will keep going. These guys are very professional, thorough, and fast! They’ll send you a full detailed inspection report with pictures, won’t use pressure tactics, and will give you a fair price.

I brought in my 11-year-old Subaru Forester with a complex history of repairs and symptoms. David listened to my 10 minutes of explanation and issued a detailed diagnosis report, including photos, within a day. On the phone, he talked me through the recommended repairs and the costs, being transparent about the cost of parts vs. labor. The prices were better than I expected, and in the end because they couldnt access one area (for good reason), the total was less than the initial estimate. They pointed out an item they planned to replace while they were in that area of the engine, but it was a cheap and sensible add-on and I did not feel pressured or cheated.All along, David answered my questions and explained what they planned to do and how the systems worked. Very empowering and appreciated!The car now drives and sounds better than it has in the 2 years since I bought it. Ill be a diehard Zepeda fan as long as Im in Chicago.Details on the specific repairs: Car had been hesitating/stuttering during acceleration and the acceleration was weak. Engine code indicated a cylinder was misfiring. Zepedas diagnosis was an oil leak from the valve gasket onto the ignition system. They replaced the spark plugs and ignition wires and coils. They werent able to replace the valve gasket because the bolts were so corroded they would have broken and led to more expensive repairs. Instead, they tightened things down enough to stop the oil leak for the next couple of years (and were transparent about telling me).Another issue was an exhaust leak which would have eventually damaged the catalytic converter. They cut out 3 sections of corroded exhaust pipe and welded in flex pipe. The welds look solid and the exhaust is now much quieter.After we drove the car home, the weather got very cold (0 degrees F) and the car wouldnt start, even though the battery was fine. Zepeda put us in touch with a skilled towing guy to get us to their shop. They replaced a faulty ignition coil (not their fault, but the manufacturers) on the same day. No issues since.

Zepeda was a great way to shop local. I had a battery issue, and Auto Zone pointed me in their direction - said they trusted them, they had a fair price, and were right down the street. The workers at Zepeda were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I appreciated their communication and punctuality. Ill definitely be going back if i have anything other issues!

Our Honda CR-V was making a rattling noise so took it to Quick Oil on Armitage to have it checked out. They advised taking it to an actual mechanic to conduct a more thorough diagnostic and repair since it didnt seem to be something they could handle. After doing a little research, I chose Zepeda based on a neighbors recommendation and also based on proximity (walking distance). Once there, I saw that the shop is clean and the two gentlemen I spoke to were courteous and professional. After explaining the problem, they said there were a few cars ahead of mine but they would give me a call once theyd had a chance to examine the car and before they make any repairs. As promised, David called to explain what hed found and told me the estimated cost. I gave the okay and he said it would be a few hours but I should be able to get the car by the end of the day. Later in the day, I called Zepeda to check on the status and was told we could pick up the car at 5:45. My husband went to the shop to get the CR-V. While he waited, they texted him a report of the various checks and tests theyd conducted on the car which will be helpful as we consider which things to take care of next on our 10 year old vehicle. As it turned out, the part that had been ordered for the car was too small. David was apologetic and said he would be able to get the right part and work on it the next morning. We were understanding, knowing it wasnt their fault. My husband did ask David to go ahead and replace the windshield wipers while he was at it since wed been meaning to do that. The next day, we were able to get the car by midday and David had given us new wipers at no charge to make up for the inconvenience which we really appreciate. All in all, we had a great experience with Zepeda and highly recommend them.

Danny and Pedro did a great job: they thoroughly checked my car out, and gave me a detailed report with lists of the things that were fine (green), things that I ought to consider having addressed/replaced (yellow), and the things that had made me bring the car to the shop for attention (red). They took care of everything that was needed very quickly and professionally, and with utmost courtesy, which has always been my experience with everyone who works at Zepeda. They told me when they would be able to discuss the diagnostic report and were prompt in texting me to give me the information I needed to know. I was even given an unexpected discount on some of the replacement parts, which was super nice of them! This is my neighborhood service shop and Ive been taking my car there for several years now; I would happily recommend them to anybody!

My car battery died after a few days of sitting unused in the cold and snow. I called Zepeda around 3 pm to see if there was any chance I could come in and get my battery changed that day. We had a side mirror come loose and Zepeda fixed it quickly (same-day) and inexpensively, whereas the dealership quoted us almost $1,200 and weeks of waiting for a part to arrive. Brought my car here for an inspection as Ive been having problems for a few years that no one could seem to solve. I was so appreciative that they not only took the time to inspect, but sent over a FULL detailed report of all of the issues the car had. They told me more about my car in one visit than Ive been able to find out in 5 years. I appreciated the honesty from David that he did not think it would be worth the money to fix the car vs. trying to encourage me to drop more money into something I could tell was clearly dying. Best experience Ive ever had taking my car in for repairs. Im always wary of repair shops and have been taken advantage of before by shops that claim I need repairs just so they can charge more. This is NOT the case with Zepeda. I will never take my car anywhere else for as long as I live in Chicago. They use an app that sends you a full report of their inspection with pictures and details letting you know what needs attention. Just all around a great experience and a very trustworthy business!

In all the years i have lived in chicago never new i had a gem of a mechanic in my area. I found this place by checking out the reviews and when my dad asked me where are you taking the car too i said Zepeda Auto he said they are good thats all i needed to hear! Then as a customer my experience was amazing not only were they honest about the times expectancy i dropped off my car in the morning had it back the same day! Ive been a client of Zepedas for nearly a decade, and I have 100% confidence in their work. They provide high quality work in an extremely efficient manner, and are some of the nicest people around.
