Had no problems at all dropping off my car first thing on a Thursday for brakes and tires, didnt even have to schedule a formal appointment just called the night before to see if they were available. They did a full inspection of my car and were able to fix everything by EOD Friday, even stayed a few minutes late after closing to let me pick up the car.

Elmer is amazing! He’ll help you pick the right parts for your car and your budget. So friendly and quick, this is a place I hope I don’t have to visit again soon, but I know my car will be in great hands if I do.

I’m relatively new to car ownership, and after a terrible experience at a large chain shop, I honestly considered just selling my car so I wouldn’t have to deal with that again. I’m glad I decided to give North Center Auto a shot, because even though my car needed a lot of work, Elmer was super friendly & explained everything to me patiently & with 0 judgment. Finding a good mechanic is difficult. After some poor service at other shops, we tried North Center Auto Service. Ive gone there to have a trailer hitch installed (it required cutting tools for the bumper I dont have), standard maintenance, and Ive sent family members there. (1) If they say your car will be ready at 3:00 on Wednesday, it will be ready on time. (2) No price gouging or unnecessary repairs. No one will ask if you need your muffler bearings replaced. (3) Great & Friendly service. You are respected as a customer.I highly recommend this shop.

Elmer was super friendly and able to change my oil on short notice when i phoned him.However, I was extremely disappointed when I checked my oil 48 hours after the change and saw the oil line well below acceptable levels. I ended up having to add about another 2 quarts, despite being charged for the manufacturer recommended 6 quarts of oil on my bill from North Center Auto.

Elmer and team are the best! Honest, trustworthy, fair and dedicated to their craft, simply put, I will go nowhere else in Chicago as long as I am here.I had all four tires replaced and two tire rods as well, which were not planned initially.Having anything done beyond an oil change is not o my a pain, but makes you brace for the impact to your pocket. The way they communicate, make recommendations and offer you the most competitive rates possible (without having to haggle) is a dream come true. I love Elmer and North Center Auto.

Let me start off by saying that Elmer is a very polite and nice gentlemen and he don’t try to hassle you out of money . I took my car there and I needed a replacement door handle for my car . I didn’t think that it could be fixed here but I remember them fixing my trunk hatch some time ago so I asked and Elmer said that he could fix it . We order the part from the dealership and it wasn’t an easy job because not only had he took the whole panel off the door to get the door handle and kit replaced on there but it was a bit much with the labor to do . Elmer fixes it and he didn’t charge me more for the labor and I definitely appreciate that because you can’t always find a reliable mechanic shop out here . Others be trying to get over on you especially when you are a female but thankfully I found the place to go for my maintenance issues . North Center Auto saved the day for me! I like to work on my own cars but was struggling with fixing a coolant leak. I brought it over and they fixed it quickly for a very affordable cost. They know what they are doing over there. The car that was fixed is a 2010 Land Rover LR4 that can be difficult to work on due to Land Rovers weird engineering. I would of paid triple maybe even more at a Land Rover Mechanic. Car runs like new again. Highly recommend North Center Auto Service. Also very friendly service.

Elmer and the whole team at North Center Auto Service are FANTASTIC! I have seen them multiple times (replacing a stolen catalytic convertor, headlight replacement, fixing my hood latch) and they have been fairly priced, incredibly helpful, and speedy. Their work is excellent and they are patient with all my questions. They worked efficiently with my insurance company. As someone who know little to nothing about cars, I felt very trusting of all the quotes and recommendations they gave me, and my partner vouched fo it all! :) I will be a customer for life!

Really great place. Ive gone twice. The first time I brought my car in, my check engine light had come on. Turned out my gas cap wasnt on tight. They didnt charge me for looking at it or anything. Second time, I had to have my car towed because my car wouldnt start. They had my car up and running relatively quick and were super nice throughout the whole process.

Never had a bad experience here. Honest workers.

Had our undriveable Jeep towed to North Center Auto Service after an accident. They met with the insurance adjuster right away, repairs, communication and follow-up were all terrific. We also had them do some additional general repairs while they had it at a very fair price. Super nice on-site owner! Very satisfied customer. :-)

Id been experiencing some strong vibration and noise, the cause of which was completely unidentifiable, so I called Freds and was able to bring the vehicle in for assessment right away.

There is no one in this neighborhood thats better than Elmer. Im so thankful that he opened up right by our house. He has been honest truthful fair priced from the very beginning. Thats hard to find with a mechanic. never had any issues or any problems. Every time I took my car in it came out better than before. Hes worked on all three of our vehicles in our family. What can I say about this auto shop. They went above and beyond as customer service. I recently had a catalyst converter stolen and I purchased a cat clamp, as busy they were Elmer and another mechanic stopped what they were doing to take care of me. Finally at ease to have found this shop conveniently located. Elmer has by far met my expectations with his workmanship, work ethic, prompt service and gracious character. I had quite a bit of work done on my 2006 highlander. He was patient in collecting info on the symptoms and explaining the diagnostics and cost. It was refreshing to see that the quoted price was not jacked up upon completion. Im big on researching what the problem may be based on symptoms to know whats entailed to fix it (cost, new/aftermarket parts, labor, etc) so that Im not getting taken for a fool. That being said, the prices are reasonable and so far my SUV is running smoothly; almost like new. I appreciate his follow-up call on how its running. Never did i have a mechanic do that. Thanks Elmer for making sure my vehicle is safe to transport my family!! Definitely recommending to others and returning but hopefully later than sooner. God bless you!

Great, friendly service at reasonable prices. We live nearby and the owner, Elmer, always greets us with a wave and a smile. He’s fixed multiple car issues for us. One day I got a flat tire while with my 18mo old. Elmer heard my son crying and immediately hopped in his car to come help us out. He went above and beyond and I’m so grateful. Amazing service! Gave me a quote and showed me the price of the items I would need on the computer. One problem I had with my car he said he could try recalibration with his computer first and just charge labor and that if it didn’t work he would need to order a part - but that he wouldn’t charge more labor for installing the part if the computer recalibration didn’t work!! I’ve never met such an honest mechanic. He also ran a full diagnostic for free (it came with the repair) and showed me in person what would need to be done soon. One such issue I had other mechanics wanting to charge me 2 hours of labor to figure out when he did it for free. Finally found a reliable and honest mechanic that I will undoubtedly be returning to.

Elmer really went above and beyond during the last polar vortex. Our car wouldnt start and we needed to take our daughter to daycare the next day. When we go the car to the auto shop, they didn’t have the right battery on hand. But, they ran out and got the right battery and were able to swap out the old one for a very reasonable price. I’ve been going here since I moved to the neighborhood but that experience really stood out. I would definitely recommend North Center auto if you need to take your car in.

Took my car in to get my A/C checked and was surprised by the amount of free examinations and inspections that were available to me. After a few diagnostics tests, it turns out I needed much more than just the A/C fixed. Luckily, most of it was taken care of the same day, and the rates for all of the additional fixes were extremely fair. I highly recommend NCAS!

Woman friendly mechanic: I had my cars diagnostics done at auto zone so that Id be prepared when I brought it to a mechanic. Thank you Elmer! I called Elmer yesterday (after hours) and he picked up the phone and told me to bring my wifes car in this morning. He did a diagnostic and gave me all the information about the problem, a fair quote, and an expected time the car would be ready. Elmer is awesome, Ive followed him around for over a decade now; since he was at the former Shell Gas Station on Wrightwood/Halsted (now PNC Bank) and then over to Bucaro Brothers on Ashland. Hes honest, responsive and extremely knowledgeable. Im very pleased that his new location is closer to my house and I was able to get a quick oil change last week before heading to the office!
