Took my car in for an inspection recently. I had called four local repair shops to get pricing on brake replacement because Id been told last year it was soon time to replace them. This location had the best pricing offered for my make and model of vehicle. I disclosed my expectations of needing new breaks when we dropped the car off. I was extremely surprised when I received the call later that all I needed was a new wiper blade and was told my brakes are just fine and not even on the edge of needing to be replaced. Very pleased at the up front and honest inspection. Very efficient and professional service here and the best pricing Ive found compared to other local auto repair shops.

Over priced rip off gas prices

Every year I go to this station for my yearly state inspection and it is usually Mohammad. He is always super professional and quick. They are always respectful and the inspection usually gets done pretty hassle free in 15-30min. If you go early in the morning right before opening at 8am there is usually no line.

Needed a state inspection on my 2013 Honda Pilot. There was no wait. Mohammad was very nice and polite. I waited outside the bay on their bench and he was finished with the inspection very quickly. This is the third or fourth time I’ve gone there and I will definitely return.

This is the guy you want to go to for your inspection.I went to other high rated places like the Centreville Tire and Auto across the street when this station was busy. Theyll try to sell you on things you dont need. The service rep was trying to tell me my brakes were gone when I replaced them myself 3 months before. When Mohammad inspected my car, he saw that they were in good order. The next day, I verified that the brakes worked perfectly when someone cut me off on 66.Bottom line - he knows what hes doing and hes someone you can trust.

The past couple of times Ive put gas in my car from this place my idle rpms would rise and drop when parked. In my opinion they have water in their gas. After fueling at other places and then this place the difference is noticeable. For the past few weeks, ANYTIME I fueled my car from here instead of other places my rpms in PARK would rise and fall along with engine and car vibration. They need to get themselves straight. Water in gasoline?

My moms car was overheating and required the t-stat to be replaced. Usually I would do this myself but was out of the country at the time. I told my mom to take the car to this place because I usually take all my cars to get state inspected here and the inspector is cool and knows me. When my mom took the car to them they tried to take advantage of her lack of automotive knowledge and said the head gasket needed to be replaced. The car only overheated once My mom immediately stopped, turned the car off and let the car cool down. They charged $120 to diagnose the problem (which was just to replace the T-stat and I already had bought the part and handed it to them) And said they we also needed to change the head gasket😐 and quoted $600 for parts and labor. My mom was about to pay them and have it done and called me just before and i told her not to do it. Instead I called one of my friends and he came and changed the t-stat and did a coolant flush. Now the car runs cool and no more overheating. Can’t believe these guys tried to scam my mom and take her hard earned money. Will not be taking any of my cars here nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

They did a great job replacing my coolant reservoir and ran a coolant flush, they apologized for the wait and I was still able to make it to my following appointment on time. My car is now running very smoothly, the weird noises have finally stopped when I turn on my inside heating and cooling dials. The owner was there was very kind and we had a good time chatting. Very personable. When I googled the average cost of the job of what they did for me (to make sure I wasnt getting ripped off) it was right on the mark with parts and labor as compared to other places after a quick search. I feel safe knowing my problem got fixed well enough to take it on a long road trip. Sorry to see the bad reviews but I work in retail and the fact of the matter is, you cant please everyone.

I used to go to this gas station for several years where I could just drop off my car and come and pick it after the inspection was done.But since last year I have to wait for the inspection to be done. Had a slow leak in my tire. I called and spoke with Tony, who said to bring the car in. Once we got there, they immediately looked at my tire, plugged the hole, and filled all the rest of my tires up, all in under 15 minutes. Awesome experience!

Quick and easy inspections. Good quality mechanic services as well. I had a leaky power steering pump and the dealer wanted to replace it for $2000 and the guys at Sunoco sealed the leak for $100.

I have used them several times over the years for perfunctory tasks like oil changes and tire rotation. The service is good, and the price very reasonable. I like the fact that they allow me to bring my own engine oil and only charge me for the labor.

I never fear that I am going to be ripped off when I go to Newgate. They take the time to tell me about repairs I will need in the future, so that I can budget for them. Everytime I have needed to pass inspection, they have been upfront and honest about what is needed, and finished all of my work in less than a day.I have been taking my car to them since I got it, and have never regretted it. Jason and the rest of the guys listen to my questions, and take the time to explain things in a way that a non-mechanic can understand.

Dropped off car first thing in the morning for an inspection. Called 3 hours later they said it wouldnt be done on time because they have to take those waiting in line first, its a law Its not a law, they are wrong, but couldnt be bothered to verify. Was looking for a new shop to service my car at, will pass due to poor customer service.

This shop is dishonest and black heart. I dont know too much about car so I just trust what ever they suggest to repair. Spending $500 is OK for me but I need good hands. However, this shop did not do a test drive before they give me the car, which cause a horrible loud noisy sound a few miles later when I drive. They fix the horrible sound next day after I drive super carefully to their shop, however, the attitude is arrogant. The excuse they did not test is Its late yesterday. Is 5pm so late unable to do a test drive? I can not agree. This shop is totally not trustworthy at all. I can only hope my car wont die in a few months.

Been bringing vehicles here for many years. Inspections, oil changes and routine maintenance. Always been straight shooters. Recently thought I had a bad alternator. Tony had the battery terminals cleaned of some corrosion and tightened up. Problem solved. No charge.

I bought something. Wanted to return it, but the clerks kept telling me to come back when manager is there cuz theyre not authorized. After 4 trips within a week finally caught up with him. Told him the price was higher than another place. But the manager said it was his policy that he wont accept returns at his store, & he was even very adamant that I can call cops on him if I want to. What a joke. Instead of offering to match a price, or store credit, he simply acted like a piece of tool. I hope that manager with a mustache lives a very long unhappy life. You know people say Never say never, but one thing Im sure, I would NEVER EVER come to this store!!!As I was walking out of the store, the car mechanic guy by the door seemed to enjoy the show with a laughter on his face. I bet he watches this kind of stuff all the time.

I went to this shop to get a Virginia inspection, what I got was a nightmare.My car failedFront window tint ... yes too longCracked left fog lens... yes had a crackFront left spring broke ... yes had a crackRight tie rod play.... nope not in Original tire rod end not in the first replace tie rod end and not in the second replaced tie rod end.Inspected once.Re-inspected 4 times all failed and more stuff added each time.After having all repairs done the 4th time it failed this past Monday, I called state trooper in charge spoke to a wonderful woman in charge there that said take to another shop, where my car passed with flying colors the very next day Tuesday, and I also agreed to have car re-inspected by Virginia state trooper officer G and another VA shop inspector today and wow.. ANOTHER PASS!!! Hhhmmmm so since having my car inspected last Thursday, Monday and Tuesday and now Thursday and with 2 fails by Newgate to make 4 fails all together by Newgate and three passes by 2 different shops and a Virginia state trooper, my mechanics were right there was no play in my tie rod end and even the original one didn’t need to be replaced, safe inspection is for safety and I am all about that!!! But where my problem is, this man was lying and trying to force his power as an inspector on me, when I knew the other reason is because I was a woman and heDeemed me as a stupid woman he could get over on. Well I proved to him today that it was a bad choice to keep messing with me, the very last thing this man ever said to me was” it’s your mechanics responsibility to figure out what is wrong with your vehicle” and the last thing I ever said to him” do you even know what your job is? You inspect car, pass or fail... if fails you give a detailed report on what needs to be fixed, then you re-inspect the stuff you failed “. And then I asked for the Trooper’s number.. best thing I ever did!!Stay strong to all the woman, and stay strong to all the men who aren’t car mechanically incline, do not let POS MECHANICS LIKE THIS TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE!!!If you have a gut feeling, I learn that you can always ask the state trooper to come out and check for you, but don’t remove the parts before you call. That was where I was wrong!!! But now I know!!

I have had inspections, auto service and have purchased tires from them recently. Every person I have dealt with, from the manager on down, has been honest and professional with me. The true test was an issue I had with a bad sensor that would not allow my truck to past emissions. They could have easily taken advantage of me, I was in a corner . They took time to really fix it, let me know every process, repairing correctly. I have been between Sonoco and other local shops. Newgate Sunoco earns my trust..........

I took my car back after my first, great experience with Newgate and I had another great experience. I dropped it off Sunday night just for an emissions test. When I got a message from Jason at 9 AM I feared the worst, because at the last two mechanics I used here in Centreville if they called early it meant theyd found excuses to charge me money for things I didnt need. Otherwise the other shops wouldnt even bother to call me. Jason though had already done the test by 9 AM and just called to let me know it was done!

Consider again before going to them because my experience here made me believe that once you have a problem with their service, it will be hard to resolve it. Heres what happened:I changed a flat tire with a spare tire I had in the car. The flat tire light was still on after driving a while after their service. I asked them about it and I was told that air was low pressured, and caused the problem. Filled the air, and the light was still on. I came back to them again, and asked to take the wheel like when the tech changed the tire this time to see if a sensor was touched. I was told that the procedure was simple enough that it could not damage the sensor and they did nothing wrong. He insisted so firmly they did nothing wrong that I offered to pay the same amount of money to take a look again, but got rejected.

I was driving towards GMUs Prince William Campus when I noticed the temperature gauge spiking while on 66 and had to take the exit and get it to the nearest gas station. By chance, I came across this Sunoco which doubled as a service shop. Asked for help on diagnosing the problem and two of the techs looked at it, took it in, and figured the radiator was damaged and had a bad coolant leak. Not only did they replace the radiator, but they also held onto the old one, showed me the damage in person, and even kept it for a short while in case I wanted to put an insurance claim on it since it was most likely caused by an incoming rock. Anyways, these guys did exactly what they needed to do and just that. Very nice and knowledgeable folks. Only minor complaint is they forgot to call me when the service was done, but I called them in the late afternoon to check the progress so it was no big deal.

Please please don’t come here, The service department is very rude including the manager and the person who did the inspection. Did you know how to behave with customer that was the worst experience in the past six years. Unprofessional even didn’t deserve to get a one star.

Second time I brought a car here and failed because of LED bulbs. Thats total BS as the bulbs are legal and provide better light than regular bulbs. Thats why newer cars use them. But if you use newer bulbs in older cars thats illegal?

Ive had trouble with mechanics around Centreville. I originally went to Virginia Tire and Auto back when it was a Goodyear franchise, and one time they charged me for a radiator flush and refill that I found out a month later, after someone hit my car and I brought it in somewhere else for emergency service, that Virginia Tire had charged me but left the old radiator fluid.Later when I again needed a quick repair on a broken power window, I happened to go to Centreville Tire and Auto as I was passing by on the way home from the supermarket. The folks there are nice, but over a few years I started to suspect that they were over-charging me for labor, especially last month when I took it in for air conditioning repair. They charged me $1800 for a variety of problems they found, but the AC broke down again right away and then they wanted $1405 to repair it! When I told the manager, Raul, that friends of mine had told me it should take only 3 hours and not the 8 he claimed, he did cut the price to $1187, but by then Id decided to shop around.I first used Yelp to ask Brian, the Sunoco owner, if they do AC work, and he responded through Yelp very nicely within two hours of the start of business. By then Id already called and talked to Jason, the manager, and he has a very positive attitude, and told me to bring in the car because many other places charge for work you dont need. So I brought my car to Kalen, their mechanic (I hope I’m spelling his name right), and found out that I didnt need 3 of the 4 parts Centerville Tire wanted to replace. One of the 4 parts isnt even part of the AC system!I let Kalen do the work and he had the car done before noon the next day, even though he had to order the part that morning, and the price was the promised $630--very different from Virginia Tire, which was always ending up charging me for more labor than estimated.I highly recommend Gary, Jason, and Kalen at the Newgate Sunoco, and my best friend, who was using Centreville Tire for his non-warranty work (like brakes) because I was using it, is switching to Newgate Sunoco too! We were even sitting in the lot last night checking out the gas price think of starting to shop there for gas too. Newgate Auto Care—Sunoco is definitely a winner! :-)

Went to sunoco for a routine inspection and the employees were rude and unhelpful..if you need any kind of car service done please go see Leander Poe and Eddy at Virginia Tire and Auto on centreville crest lane(one street down)...the people there treat their customers with dignity and respect!

Here for state inspection and mid month wait is typical, about an hour.

This gas station is the worst in the area for customer service. Please make sure you never go to this gas station. You will sure be regretful.
