I had never been seen here before but found they were the closest eye center to me. After getting nervous I was having an eye emergency, I called today and they immediately squeezed me in. Every person was extremely kind and knowledgeable. I went ahead and made another appointment for a regular eye exam and glasses. I am grateful they ensured me I wasnt having an eye emergency and that I found this amazing place. I will definitely be a customer for life!

I havent write any comment on anything, but this time I have to write some compliment or it would be morally unacceptable. I purchased my glass half a year ago, and last night I carelessly stepped on it. The lens were good, but the frame was so much damaged that one cant even recognize what it used to be. I brought these to the store, hoping to order a new frame, but the friendly lady working there is so considerate and say it would take a long time for a new frame to arrive, and she is going to make some attempt on it. Honestly, I didnt expect anyone could fix it. But a moment later she came out with a pair of almost-new glasses. I cant believe my eyes! I doubt if she has learned this magic from Hogwarts. And if thats not the case, I would definitely say this place has got the best glasses craftsman in the world. Really impressed. 100% recommended. And thank you for saving me, lady!

The office was unhelpful with verifying my 90 year old Father’s insurance coverage before his appointment.I contacted my father’s insurance company and they verified that Roland Park Vision was an approved provider covering up to $200.00 towards eyeglasses, contact lens or frames. When my 90 year old father came to his appointment, they denied the $200.00 benefit towards eyeglasses.I contacted another Optical office that was listed along with Roland Park Vision insurance list and they verified that they accept my father’s insurance benefit of $200.00 towards eyeglasses.Roland Park Vision website shows it accepts my father’s insurance but denied him the benefit for eyeglasses or contact lens coverage.

Worst experience ever! The receptionist was extremely unfriendly and rude on the phone when I asked a simple question about my bill. They charged items that they never even claimed with my insurance, because they are not on the insurance statement. I have never experienced such a terrible customer service at any doctors office!! Also, the choices of frames is very limited, and the staff is not helpful at all. In addition, I had to go back several times because the frame was not well adjusted to my face, and kept sliding off.

Came here a while back for contacts prescription renewal and was totally scammed. Among hundreds of dollars worth of “fees” for services I was not told would cost anything and had thought were part of my general eye exam, I was also charged a $100 contacts “fitting fee” despite having worn contacts for years. Ridiculous.

Can’t say enough about how kind the people are here. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a very friendly employee. I asked for an adjustment to my glasses, even though I didn’t buy my glasses there, and they happily did it - and did an amazing job - and refused any payment. So nice and welcoming. I’ll definitely be heading there next time I need a pair of glasses.

Genuinely disturbed by how ridiculously rude the receptionist answering the phone was when we discussed my insurance. Have never encountered worse customer service, ESPECIALLY from a doctor’s office! You’re handling people’s health, the least you could do is be cordial. I’m disgusted and upset, and I’m finding a new optometrist immediately(This phone call occurred around 5 on Tuesday 9/3, and, for the good of the business, this person should likely be fired immediately.)

Dr. Jared Scheff was very friendly, warm and professional. Dr. Scheff took his time and thoroughly explained the examination and answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend Roland Park Vision to my family and friends. My experience with everyone in the office was very pleasant. I had a hard time deciding on my glasses, but Deneen was very patient and helpful.

Front of the store staff went out of their way to help find my insurance information on a Saturday when CareFirst was closed. They were happy to accommodate me for a last minute appointment as well. Doctor was awesome and made me feel comfortable at every point in the eye exam. Will definitely return for my next exam.

Im extremely disappointed with this place. I called to have my records forwarded to another eye doctor and the receptionist was not only unaccommodating but also pretty condescending and rude. I was told they couldnt fax anything until the doctor was in, which wouldnt be for 4 full days, and then she essentially hung up on me. Would not recommend.

I went out of my way, and out of my insurance coverage, to go to a provider with good reviews. In the past I’ve had bad experiences with eye care facilities that have given me incorrect fittings (once a provider gave me a prescription that was an entire point off). The fitting itself was okay--no fancy gadgets but I felt like they gave me the right prescription. What makes my review a 1 star is the corrupt and/or incompetent business operations. Going in I knew I would be paying out of pocket, but the quote given to me over the phone before I came in was $80 less than the ultimate bill provided after service. My insurance doesn’t fully cover contacts, so I went into the apt knowing that I’d be ordering them more cheaply online. When I asked for my prescription then and there, the front desk manager skirted around it. I had just paid $180. This raised flags but I figured it might be easier to get via email.I ended up having to call 4 times over a 4-5 month period, before they finally emailed over my prescription. After every call they said they’d send it, but it wasn’t until I stayed on the line, watching my inbox, that it finally came through. I didn’t throughly review the prescription before I uploaded it to a contact service. The contact service alerted me that the prescription given to me was for eye glasses not contacts. I have never been fitted for eye glasses at Roland Park Vision Services. In fact, at the time of the contact fitting, my glasses prescription was still valid. The contact service got in contact with RPVS, who confirmed that I was fitted for glasses not contacts. This is something I am still trying to get corrected, so that I will not have wasted $180.3 months after my initial visit, I came to RPVS to pick up a sample of my contact prescription for my wedding. At that point I still hadn’t received my prescription to be able to order them on my own. On that date they had no problem locating my prescription and confirming that it was for contacts. It is rare that I advise people to stay away form businesses, but this is not a place anyone should patron, especially if you do not intend to order glasses/contacts through them.

I had an all-around terrible experience at RPVS. From Dr. Hyatt and the receptionist being incredibly disrespectful, to being charged more than 10 times the cost I was quoted over the phone, nothing about the appointment went well, but I was particularly upset about being overcharged after confirming the quoted cost before the appointment. Being ripped off seemed quite deliberate, and I expect they use this scheme regularly to get people in the door and then overcharge them once theres no backing out.My experience was as follows:I have contact lenses, and usually go to Costco each year to get an exam to get my prescription updated/renewed. My work just recently provided us with EyeMed insurance, and Costco is out of network so I decided to try someplace new to save money. Roland Park Vision Services was the worst choice I could have made. My insurance covers exams with a $10 copay. When I made the appointment (which took nearly a week -- I filled out an online appointment form and didnt receive a call back until all the slots I had listed as preferred had passed) I confirmed on the phone that I had EyeMed and it would be a $10 exam copay. I mentioned at that time that I wore contacts. After arriving for my appointment and being asked to take my contacts out, as is typical, they asked to see my glasses. I said I wasnt looking to get the prescription updated for them, I just needed a prescription for contacts, and was told to hand them over anyhow. I was then left sitting and waiting for 20 minutes, unable to see, which is an uncomfortable and headache inducing experience. After about 5 minutes of the exam, Dr. Hyatt stepped out to take a phone call for about 5 minutes. I found this to be quite disrespectful -- I was missing work for this appointment, and this was inconsiderate of my time.At the end of the exam, Dr. Hyatt told me he uses eye drops in place of the standard air puff test. He put the drops in my eyes and my eyes immediately felt extremely strange and I was having trouble keeping them open. I asked what the drops were - he now tells me its an anasthetic and should wear off in 5-10 minutes. It took 4 hours before I felt like I could put my contacts back in because I still felt anesthetized for hours after. The kicker though, was when I went to pay. The receptionist tells me it comes to a total of $135. I protested, saying my insurance had a $10 copay for eye exams, and I had given them the info. They went on to tell me that the $135 was the $10 copay plus a $125 premium contact lens fitting fee which is not covered by my insurance. I protested, saying that I was told on the phone that it would just be a $10 copay. They responded quite rudely, retorting how are we supposed to know if a patient needs contacts or not prior to the exam? I had told them when I scheduled that I had contact lenses so this was a ridiculous response. When I insisted they should tell customers with contacts in advance that theres an additional fee, I was scoffed at and asked if I was paying via cash, check, or credit. Dr. Hyatt then came out to say that because I have an astigmatism, it was the premium rather than standard fitting, which was why the cost was so high. They also knew I had an astigmatism prior to the appointment as Id given them my current Rx. Ultimately I paid because I couldnt figure out what else to do.RPVS will leave out vital information about their cost structure to rip you off. Based on their response it was clear to me they do this regularly, not that it was a mix up, as no one was the least bit apologetic. I highly advise that you find a different place to get your eye exam.
