Great store in the heart of Asheville. Great selection of goods. Staff was extremely kind, Jordy especially was extremely helpful and had amazing customer service skills. Will definitely be back.

Mast General Store is a really special place. We had bought some lovely items for our family, and walked down to the ice cream place a block away. I realized I lost my purse and went back to look for it. The employees scoured the store with me and physically walked down to the ice cream place to help look for it. They are really amazing folks and should be supported.

Me and my wife walked around this store and absolutely loved it!!! Very large and diverse selection of items and so very cool!!!!

Welcoming store with country gear and fun gifts. Excellent apparel selection, but the real experience is in those little hard to find items that both locals and visitors will appreciate.My wife bought some tree decorations and I picked up a hard to find relief map. We also spent time browsing. Ok. Truth is I exited early to check on the dog, but wife stayed inside for a looooong time exploring racks and racks of stuff.

Took 12yr old. She had no memory of ever going, although we live local and have gone many times. THIS is my new favorite store, and I want to work here when I turn 16! Her name is Kat.

This place is cool. It’s got just about everything. No matter what you need I’m guessing g they have it. Lots of shirts, outdoor stuff, even shoes and some food. It’s just a neat place to stop into.

The Mast General Store is a great stop. There are the infamous barrels of dollar candy, clothing, gifts and much more. Always friendly staff that is also very helpful. Recommended if you are in the area.

I try to go here every time I visit Asheville. They have a wide variety of fun items, neat clothes and great outdoor gear with good sales often.

This was our first time visiting this location-- We usually go to the one in Wayneville, but was every ot as good as the Waynesville location.

Shop the sales!! Thats how you get great deals here. Buy your winter stuff in the summer and vice versa. You can anticipate when certain items will drop in price. Also, I love their jams, honey, and pickled items in the back.

This is much more than a general store. While upstairs is a very cool store that has a wide variety of products that are fun to look through. But downstairs is an awesome outdoors, backpacking and camping store. There are so many great products to choose from. The products are high quality and worth checking out.

Wow... could spent alot of time in here. dog-friendly, so we brought our corgi. Friendly and helpful staff. Super clean and easy to move around in. 2 stories- so be ready to spend some time. We found a beautiful hummingbird wind chime for mothers day.

Great location, but I went to find dog leashes and harnesses, and the selection was truly underwhelming. The rest of the store is topnotch, though, and service is spot on.

What an awesome store. We came in just before closing time and got to browse for about 15 minutes. If you go, give yourself plenty of time as there is so much to see and an expansive selection of really nice things. Well certainly be back. Dont miss the candy selection in the back of the store, they have all kinds of great goodies from the past.

Soo thankful there are good honest people left in this world. Friday my daughter went to Asheville with a friend for the day. When she got home she realized she didnt have her wallet. It had been misplaced along the way. Everything important for her identity, access to bank accounts etc was in there, shot record, cash you name it, it was there. So this mama was in a total panic thinking that we were in for a fiasco in the days/weeks/years ahead for her.This afternoon I got a call from Mast General Store in Asheville. Someone found her wallet and management happened to find my name in there and was able to find my number. (Side note, I Guess it really pays to have your name and business contact info blasted out on the web).Anyway, I immediately made a quick trip up to Aville to pick it up. Every card, dollar and detail was the same as it was when she last had it. 🙌🏼My heartfelt thanks goes out to Carmen at Mast General Store for locking it away safely until I could get there to pick it up. Good people DO exist in this crazy world...We were truly blessed by their honesty. If you are ever in Asheville, stop by their store. Its a great place and we owe them a debt that can never be repaid. 💗

I love Mast. They definitely sell some pricey stuff, but theyve got a great variety of outdoors gear, old-timey stuff, and cool shirts. I love the candy section and the coolers of glass bottle sodas. My family are frequent patrons, and I just got an Eno hammock and straps today.

This is a wonderful store situated in the middle of downtown Asheville. Two stories of outdoorsy clothes and lots of gear. Good books and games selections and a wonderful candy department with fun nostalgic candies. This is a great place to gift-shop for young and old-particularly outdoors oriented folks.

Very neat store has everything you could need. Old style candy in big barrels alot to choose from. Two story has a basement with clothes and shoes. They have knives to kitchen stuff to apple butter and spices. So much to look at stop by if your in the area.

The usual overpriced Mast General Store in all tourist cities. $37.99 for a tshirt, no thank you! But the store was clean as usual and they had need stuff to look at.

This is such a great store. Upstairs is that old general store thats great for taking visitors and a trip down memory lane. Downstairs is great if you like the outdoors - gear, clothes, knives, sunglasses and more. Staff is always helpful, happy, and fantastic. Dog friendly! Only problem I have with this place is I spend a lot when I go.

Before going to the Asheville store, I called to check for the item I needed. Two clerks seemingly went to great effort to answer my question which was appreciated. The following day I went to the store. I initially had trouble obtaining assistance from two sales people who appeared to be engrossed in their own conversation. They did eventually disperse and one assisted me. Aside from the momentary lapse in attention to the customer at the later event, I appreciate the overall attitude at this Mast.

Great shop for tourists or locals alike. Youll pay a little bit more for certain things, but EVERYTHING is such high quality, you wont regret it.

Retro candy by bulk alert! I think I could spend hours in the mast, and the Asheville location is no exception. I love the variety and sale items or their shoes section. Special highlights of this visit was the selection of angry (or indifferent) looking bird figurines and a mens Cologne (the yellow bottle) that reminded me of the way cheap ribbon candy smells... Like mint and cinnamon and cherry all melded and smelt into a lump of sugary goodness.

Love shopping at this down to earth store. Lots of quality products that lean towards outdoor activities. Lots of general merchandise but also some very specific and unique items. I. E. The map department will help you find your way around backwoods of WNC. This place just smells good. Has a nice front entrance as well as a back entrance.

This store is a blast from the past.Old timey stuff and new stuff displayed as 80 years ago.The male clerks all seem to have beards!Fun.

We stumbled upon this store during our walk and it was pretty awesome. Cool clothing and little decorations as well as a big candy section. Everything was reasonably priced and there were 20% coupons when we walked in that we took advantage of. This has lots of hiking gear as were as footwear in the basement section. Definitely worth a look when visiting.

The General Store offered WAY more than I expected. Entering from the upstairs, I didnt realize there was another level below. Check it out. There is a full-on outfitter store down there!

I recently went to the Mast General Store. The gentleman that I encountered was the rudest. They need a little class on customer service before letting their older staff on the floor. I would have given him a pass if he was having a bad day, but even talking to a customer like he did doesn’t deserve a pass!

From Asheville and when I visit I have to go downtown and visit this great store. Can not leave without good candy and usually candles. Great selection!

Lots of great merchandise. Be ready to stand in line at checkout. I watched 3 employees notice the huge checkout line and they offered no assistance in helping the struggling cashier speed things up. Management needs to focus on customer service or come up with tablet checkout system like chick-fil-a.

Angel in the shoe department in Asheville knows his shoes. I am hard to buy for because of some feet issues. He pointed me toward some with a bigger toe box and more elastic where a nerve goes into the side of your foot. Amazed at his knowledge of physiology.

Mast is definitely a must stop location when in Downtown Asheville. You will find a huge variety of items and find so many gift ideas. With COVID-19 shutting down so many facilities this is also one of the few restrooms you can find in Asheville.
