Similar to other posts, they are extremely rude and are not concerned at all after they up-sell you on a dress. We bought a VERY expensive dress for my daughter and ordered a veil that was supposed to match but when it came in, it didnt match. They refused to exchange it for a different color so we had to purchase another one so I have a veil I cant use. We paid over $10,000 for a dress and they wouldnt exchange a veil that they could resell for a few hundred dollars. Its unfortunate because I have 2 other kids that will get married and a ton of friends that I wouldve referred but now I tell everyone I know NOT to go there. A little customer service would go a long way. In the end, it will be their loss.

My initial experience at Elizabeth Johns was great—I was a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding and we had a really nice shopping experience with a wonderful sales associate. We ordered Amsale dresses that had seemed really nice in the store—a heavy satin underskirt topped with tulle.However, the dresses that arrived were TERRIBLE. Cheap, poorly made, and tight (even though the sales associate warned us Amsale runs small and advised us to order two sizes up). Now, this is not necessarily the fault of Elizabeth Johns; I know supply chains are all out of whack right now and Amsale could have changed suppliers for an inferior one. But the store didnt say anything when the dresses arrived, and when one of the other bridesmaids called to complain/double check that these were *really* our dresses, the sales associate was rude and told her thats what you ordered.The crowning touch was when I went to get my dress altered and the seamstress realized the cheap taffeta underskirt was ENTIRELY TRANSPARENT under the light—you could very clearly see my underwear. She had to add a lining at the 11th hour to ensure I wouldnt flash everyone in the church. I expected so much better from Elizabeth Johns.

Extremely disappointed in this place…..this is the second bad encounter I have had with them and by far the worst. They have the WORST customer service EVER! I purchased a bridesmaid dress from them last year and the wedding got pushed back due to COVID. I decided to wait to get the alterations until closer to the date. I finally tried on the dress on and it was the completely wrong size (about two sizes too small!). I haven’t gained any weight what so ever…in fact the dress was actually loose fitting in most areas of my body accept for my rib cage (I would have had to get ribs removed for this dress to fit). I contacted the store to see if there was anything they could do for me and they told me there was NOTHING they could do and that I signed a contract saying I knew what size I was getting (they FITTED me for the dress so I assumed they would have ordered the right size and they make you sign this contract before the dress even comes in so you can’t try it on just to be sure!). I also asked what my measurements were when they took them and the measurements they took matched the size they SHOULD have ordered me! The size they ordered wasn’t even close! Then they told me that “the sizes change”…it was the EXACT same dress! So I had to order a new dress (another $360 mind you) from the designer website and pay for it to be rushed and it still might not even get here in time. The only things this place has going for them is their amazing seamstress- Kathy, and their selection of dresses to try on! Other than that, I highly recommend you go elsewhere!!! I am in several other weddings and I will not be spending another DIME with place and neither will any of my friends!

They are extremely rude. They are all over the place and have really bad customer service. We have spent thousands of dollars there and they don’t care. Mother of the bride dress alternations were not done until 5pm the day before the wedding. Mother of bride goes to pick up dress at 10 am the day before wedding (because they insisted that it would be fine) and the hem isn’t done and she can’t even zipper the dress. The alternations were still very much not complete and they told her to come back at 4:30 because the seamstress was unaware the wedding was tomorrow because she asked, “when is the wedding” at the 10 am appt. WHICH IS TOMORROW and HAS BEEN VERY CLEARLY COMMUNICATED BY US. However this dress is one of the many things going on the day before wedding but they don’t seem to care and had zero sense of urgency. The alternations cost $700 which must be paid in full in advance. the amount of added stress they have caused is insane, and they do not have any sympathy for being so unorganized and all over the place. The seamstress and sales ladies are not on the same page at all. Not to mention, the dress was stuck in customs for about a week. They are closed Monday and Tuesday and have no phone number to get in touch with. For gowns that are $3000 they do not treat the customers well. We also got the wedding gown there so you would think they would be nicer. People who we have dealt with there offended multiple family members and very obviously rude and laugh in your face. We will never go back there and do not recommend this store to anyone. We had a much better experience last year at Van Cleve.I would like to follow up on this situation at happened 3 weeks ago. once my mom received the dress even before doing alternations, she noticed that the fabric itself looked different. And to be honest, it did, but it was already a mess waiting for the dress to arrive after many many weeks, that I told my mom dont worry its the correct fabric, however I never saw it in person. My mom is very detail orientated and knew it was wrong so after the whole fiasco with alternations (which they refused to discount in anyway and just kept saying at 6:30 pm the day before that at least its fixed now and you have the dress, its perfect and you can go have fun now! My mother called the owner to discuss the fabric difference and the owner admitted the fabric was totally different and finally agreed to refund for alternations. However, this issue is that the FABRIC OF THE ENTIRE DRESS WAS WRONG. The dress arrived many weeks late, so we cannot confirm but we think since all these dresses are made to order, they sold my mothers dress to someone else because then they said they were waiting on fabric which was why it was taking so long. However she was told dress is done, it will be shipped out, then was told oh nevermind they are waiting on fabric to make the dress??? AKA had to make another dress, ran out of fabric, they rushed the fabric or settled for a fabric that was similar but very different material. It frayed very easily and had tiny hair like threads sticking out after they hemmed it. The material was thinner and just looked like much lower quality than the original and correct fabric that she ordered.Thankful the owner at least owned up to the mistake, she should really be involved more since her name is on the line of the business and the employees at the store just kept trying to tell my mom she was wrong and kept lying, being rude, and not being helpful at all. I will update with pictures too.

Brides deserve better! I made an appointment two months ago and confirmed that I could bring three guests with me for the appointment. They decided the day before (literally) not to honor that request. I asked if it would be feasible to make an exception and the consultant didn’t want to. I understand times are strange but it’s hard for brides too. My mother can’t even be with me to try on dresses because she lives in a different state and travel is not an option at her age.After all the back and forth, EJ also decided to charge me $100 for cancelling my appointment even though they were the ones at fault. I will of course dispute that charge with my credit card company. I am appalled at their customer service and thrilled I’m not giving them my business.If you want someone to treat you like the special bride you are, this is not the place.

There are not enough words to say how absolutely AMAZING the Elizabeth John Team is! This was the first bridal shop I went to in search of my perfect wedding dress. Linda was my bridal consultant, she reached out to me before my appointment to get to know my style and what I was looking for. When I arrived at the shop Linda knew right away I was going to be an Anne Barge bride, traditional/classic dress. After about 5 different styles of dress we nailed down the perfect one, however, i needed some glam. She quickly spoke with the designer and we ended up customizing my dream dress. Fast forward to today I picked up my dress and it was EVERYTHING I IMAGINED IT WOULD BE! Lacey the manager remembered me trying on dresses and was so accommodating throughout my freak outs that it wasn’t going to be perfect and she reassured me email after email that it would be everything I dreamed of. And that it was! The entire staff from bridal to bridesmaids are the dream team you must go too! They know how to give you that bridal moment in an intimate setting. Thank you so much and I can’t wait to come back for my fittings!

An amazing bridal shop! The sales consultants were phenomenal! They helped my daughter select the perfect dress. The selection of dresses was fantastic and with price ranges to suit many. They were very mindful of COVID, limiting the number of guests at one time. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for wedding attire.

Terrible experience dealing with this store, my fiancés mother is unable to attend dress shopping due to a pandemic and her being older, so her once in a lifetime experience is already marred. She then speaks with the store to confirm that she will be bringing 2 close friends and my mother and the store agrees. Then the day before they changed their stance(which seems to be their go-to move based on the other negative reviews) and said that she could only bring 2 people with her which would force her to uninvite someone that had already taken off work to be there to support her. So rather than be rude to a loved one she was forced to cancel and then they charged her $100 on top of it! Staff were rude to deal with over the phone, absolutely unacceptable behavior. They may have this strict policy as they want to respond, but then your staff should be well versed in the policy and not make side arrangements they can honor, also if you are calling the day before to confirm and the issue has been raised then you should forgo charging people $100...thanks for the generic response but it doesnt speak to your lack of customer service.

My daughters and I went to this store looking at a dress she had tried on last year during the summer, when we tried it on she looked beautiful and the consultant did a great job assisting us. Which is why I gave it 2 stars, so it came time to purchase the dress only to be told that it had to be paid in full before it could be ordered?????? I have to pat myself on the back because I didn’t lose it, like really last summer y’all had a payment plan, oh but then they tell us that they could do $2,000 today and the balance had to be paid with in a few (DAYS ) mind you , first of all the dress was 3,200 , so if it wasn’t paid in a few days then they would have to charge me a fee????? You got to be kidding me!!. 1 we are in the middle of a pandemic, 2, we were just there last summer so what, then you act like you’re doing me a favor by giving me days to pay it off without a fee, get real, kleinfelds , (which is where we are going ) gives you a payment plan so don’t tell me it’s always been your store policy, I don’t know if it’s because we were black and they thought we weren’t coming back, so get they’re money now???? But no!! My oldest daughter was a kleinfeld bride and She will be too. I don’t like this kind of stuff, I will never go back to this shop again.

I dont have enough positive things to say about my experience at EJs. I had such a wonderful experience picking out my wedding dress with Marina that we had to come back for my moms MOB dress. Marina listened carefully and was influential without being pushy at all. She was the expert in the room on style, fit, and overall look. Loved the whole process!

I walked into EJ two months after I was engaged just to start browsing and getting a general idea of my style. I met my stylist Marina that day. She pulled a few dresses that were similar to the inspirational photos I showed her, and I hated every single one. As it would turn out, what I thought was my bridal style was incredibly incorrect. She immediately pulled three completely different dresses, the second of which was my wedding gown; a STUNNING Reem Acra ballgown. Marina was very patient as we went through accessories. I ultimately got my hair clips from their salon, but got my veil from Etsy (it was way cheaper for a similar look). They stored my dress for almost the entire 2-yr engagement. They asked I take it for a few months to make room in their closet, but then took it back once we started alterations. They offer alteration appointments during the week until 5PM, which made it difficult for my family to come for fittings as they do not live locally. I will say their seamstress Sarah is very talented. This dress had a lot of fabric and crinoline. I lost about 30 pounds during the pandemic, and she was able to take my dress in without compromising the structure of the dress. I had my final fitting (three total fittings) two days before my wedding. She had to make some final adjustments that day, but they had that dress steamed and pressed for pickup the next day. I will also be using their reference to have my gown cleaned and preserved. EJ is certainly very costly. They offer a luxury bridal experience and deliver quality product.

This is the place to go! They have such a wide range of styles and the customer service is incredible. Shopping for a wedding gown can be a stressful and anxious process - however, Elizabeth Johns makes it easy, fun, and productive. I tried on a handful of dresses pulled specifically to meet my style and budget. I ended the appointment with a glass of champagne and purchasing the first dress I tried. It was one of the best days through my entire wedding planning experience. I highly recommend that every bride visit!! Marina was the best and from what I could tell the rest of the team is as well. They are absolutely brilliant and worth the visit. I will be counting down the days until my next visit!!

I had the best experience ever looking for my wedding dress. My consultant Marina was amazing!! She could just tell when I wasn’t really feeling a dress or if I loved the dress. The first dress she pulled was actually the dress I ended up falling absolutely in love with! From the moment I walked in the door I felt welcomed. I have gone to other bridal places and this one is by far the best. And I have had a rough time trying to find a wedding dress on such a short crunch time. Trust me It’s not easy having a baby and trying to find a dress 3 months after having that baby for a wedding in July. The best part was I even received a letter in the mail from Marina and I have never seen anything like that. She is a saint and I can’t thank her enough! I can’t wait to wear my gown in a couple of months! And to show everyone the amazing dress!!!

I had a very sad and unfortunate experience with this shop. I got engaged a week before COVID lockdown and navigating wedding planning during a pandemic has been rough (our date was NYE 2020). I bought a dress final sale online because everyone says you should have the dress 7/8 months out. I panicked and regret this decision so much. When I bought the dress, I called the shop right away and all the manager said was that alterations start 6 weeks before the wedding. This was the first red flag- what bride wants to wait until a month and a half before her wedding to try on her dress?! No one offered to set up an appointment to try it on or anything. I guess because I had already paid and no one was making commission, I was no longer of value to them. This was a recurring feeling for my entire experience with this shop. When I finally got to try it on, I was told to leave my bra on (it’s a strapless dress…) and did not get a good feel of how the dress would fit or even look (wearing a bra with a strapless dress looks…. not great). The dress was on and off in less than 2 minutes and that was it. There were five people working and zero people in the store. For a decision this big, I was hoping I would have that excited bride feeling and was left feeling worse than before (after months of planning a wedding from home during a pandemic). I immediately emailed the manager Lacey when I got home and explained all of my feelings, including my relentless admission of fault because I bought the dress final sale. I cannot articulate how unsympathetic she was or how little she cared. I was of absolutely no value or worth to them and they made sure to make me feel accordingly (again, the recurring theme). I will either resell the dress or take it to another seamstress and will certainly not be returning for any bridesmaids’ dresses or flower girl dress. Wish I had gone somewhere else from the start.

Shopping for a wedding dress is very exciting, but can be stressful. I was shopping for a sample I saw online. Every single person who worked there treated me as if I was family. I couldn’t love them more during this experience! I found a sample I loved, but my family wasn’t local. The staff talked me through everything from letting out the dress (because it was tight) to bringing up the seamstress you talk to me. They even helped my FaceTime with my family!! I couldn’t rave about the experience I had more. I felt like they were family. I found my dream dress at my dream price!!!

I went dress shopping in Beverly Hills, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Hands down Katherine at Elizabeth Johns made my shopping experience the best. She was beyond patient and helpful (choosing dresses with a tailored email before I came in and handling objecting parents). Plus the selection is amazing - the ONLY salon in Pennsylvania with Carolina Herrera for one!). I would 110% recommend making an appointment ASAP for any brides to be!

I truly had the ultimate bridal experience at Elizabeth Johns working with Katherine. The day before my appointment, she sent me a personal email gathering some information about me, the big day, and what styles I was interested in. At my appointment, she guided me through the racks and helped me select several dresses I loved within my budget. Katherine was so excellent to work with. She was funny, personable, and knowledgeable and made my experience very enjoyable. I loved the first dress I tried on, however, my family members I had with me did not love this dress as much as another dress. I ended up saying yes to the second dress that everyone in my party (including myself) loved, however, later that evening I started to second guess myself. I knew in my gut I loved that first dress I tried on! Completely panicked, I emailed Katherine the next morning explaining I was in a puddle of tears over my choice, and wanted to try on the first dress again. She immediately called me and comforted me, ensuring me it was okay, and I could come in that morning and try on both dresses again. I was so relieved and grateful. I went back into the store that morning, and Lacey was available to work with me while I tried on the first dress that I had loved. I knew then and there that that dress was THE ONE! I feel so much better and am SO happy with my decision! Elizabeth Johns truly went above and beyond. They were so accommodating and helpful throughout this experience. I couldn’t be happier with my experience there and would highly recommend Elizabeth Johns to all future brides! You will have the royal treatment working with excellent bridal consultants and find the dress of your dreams!

We chose them because they had a large variety to chose from. My personal consultant throughout my dress selection process was Mattie. Initially she was very helpful, responsive and informative. Helped me to decide on my bridesmaid dresses for my girls and the color/style. Once all of my girls paid, it was as if she/ the salon did not care much or have time , considering they received their money. I was never notified On the ordering deadline date what the status was regarding my girls payments (although I was told I would be ). I was also told through the entire ordering process Id be informed which girls had paid , etc, by email. Never received a single email from Mattie updating me of the status. When I called the salon on my deadline date to ensure everyone paid and my order was placed, I was told no because one of my girls did not pay ( ok? So why wasnt I notified of this? What if I had never called?) come to find out, the one girl who had not paid, was told personally by Mattie, I will contact you when it is time to pay ( because I still hadnt decided on a definite color when she went in for her fitting) yeah so, she never did. Long story short, if you are looking for a salon who will still offer the same quick responses and assistance once they have received all your money, dont choose them!

My is sister in law had an appointment for a wedding dress that we seen back in March prior to Covid went in there yesterday and because of Covid they are price gauging the customers the dress went up 3 x in price and now 4K in alterations when they were questioned about the drastic increase they started to treat us like we below humanI highly recommend going somewhere else they deserve to lose the business since they want to rip people off

Id 100% request her again, although everyone else we interacted with was equally helpful. They have a great selection and they go above and beyond to make sure youre comfortable and happy!

Last year I went to Elizabeth Johns in Ardmore for my wedding dress and had the best experience! After visiting many different boutiques and salons, it was so clear that EJs was the best out there. The fitting rooms are spacious, there are plenty of large angled mirrors so you can see every part of the dress, you dont feel rushed or pressured, the sales staff is very knowledgeable and kind, and the entire shop is beautiful. It really doesnt even compare to many other cramped, dark, unprofessional shops with inexperienced sales staff. They take the time to properly fit each dress and explain to you how it would actually look and fit when ordered in your size -- front and back! This was the only shop that did that for me, and it made a huge difference! Linda was so sweet and helpful! We also came back for my 10 Bridesmaids dresses and had the same wonderful experience! Katherine was beyond patient with helping us find the perfect dress for a big group. Thank you so much for everything!

I had the best experience at Elizabeth Johns. My bridal consultant, Alex, was phenomenal. She wasnt pushy, listened to my wants, and made the experience of finding a bridal gown stress free. Upon saying yes to the dress the store provided complimentary champagne to celebrate.I thought that was a really nice gesture. I would definitely recommend shopping at Elizabeth Johns.

Elizabeth Johns was the fourth bridal store I visited and it was the only store that reached out to me via email prior to my visit asking me to share my wedding dress vision with them. I didnt have to fill out any paperwork upon arrival and I was helped as soon as I walked through the doors, even though I was 30 minutes early for my appointment! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and my entire experience was exceptional. I said yes to the dress at Elizabeth Johns!

Look no further than Elizabeth Johns for your dream gown. I tried on a number of dresses at various weddings shops and I was having no luck. Thank goodness for Whitney at EJ, she was absolutely wonderful!! She created such a relaxed and supportive environment and made me feel very comfortable to express my opinions and take my time. She helped me find a dress with everything I was looking for!! Plus she was always available over email. Such a fantastic experience, I highly recommend!

The customer service is not good here.I purchased a dress for my sister s wedding. They dont carry sizes over 12 in the store. They measure me for that dress. The sales person stated you should get an additional three inches on your dress since you are wear heals and get the dress a size bigger than my actual size. Well today I picked up the dress. It is three sizes too big and three inches too long. It looks horrible. I guess they do this to get you pay $150.00 alteration fee. When I tried on the dress no one came assist. They lady handed me the dress and disappeared. She provided no assist at all.

I wasnt sure I could afford to buy a dress at Elizabeth Johns, so I went to scope the place and dresses out, without scheduling an appointment. It happened to be a slower day, and they took me without an appointment. Katherine was so friendly, and stuck to my budget, but the options were still so gorgeous. I really loved the skirt of one dress, but I wasnt sold on the top. I left really unsure of what to do. I went back for a second appointment, and Lacey helped me to find a perfect custom option. The ladies there are professional, friendly and know their stuff!I also got bridesmaid dresses there, with the help of Maggie. Shes very organized and is a resource for picking colors and styles.I worked with Kathy to have my dress alterations done. She was so sweet and easy to work with. She sewed a piece of fabric from my Grandmothers wedding dress as an extra detail under my skirt, and my dress fit me perfectly. The whole experience with EJ was wonderful!

My stylist Lynn was amazing, and one of the first dresses I tried on, ended up being the one! They helped me select the perfect veil and handled all of my alterations onsite. Horrible customer service and extremely predatory place. I booked two appointments, one at BHLDN and one here. I found my dress at BHLDN and called to cancel here and was very nice and apologetic. They were rude and forced us to pay the $50 cancellation fee. They said we can come in and try on dresses and not have to pay. I said absolutely not, waste both of our times? I feel that’s horrible business practice and extremely predatory. It’s not “just $50.” Thank goodness I didn’t buy a dress here.

I went shopping at EJ last week with my MOH, and definitely had some preconceived opinions of what a main line bridal shop would be like. I could not have been more wrong. The entire staff at EJ was warm, welcoming, and helpful. The store is gorgeous, but comfortable. I actually did not end up getting my dress there, as I found the one for me with a designer they dont carry. But I would highly recommend anyone in the Philadelphia region to add them to their list. A special thank you to Katherine (who is called out in many of these reviews) for being so lovely to work with. So sweet and professional, and changed my whole dress buying experience for the better.

I definitely did not buy a dress here. I went there because of the large dress selection. I had a healthy budget and as soon as I told the lady my budget she immediately lost interest even though there are plenty of gowns for $4000 there. When we were in the dressing room she only took the dresses off the hanger. She didn’t help me get into them or pull the fabric from inside down. I also had to hang them back up while she stood there. The first thing she said when I got into the dressing room was most of our dresses are a 10/12 so you probably won’t fit in them (I’m about a 12).

The worst! I cant think of anything that has actually gone well with this salon yet. First they losy our paperwork so they didnt order our dresses. Then somehow the paperwork made it to New Jersey. Then they still took a while to order our dresses, then they were suppose to ship one dress to a girl that lives far and they didnt. Now today I show up at the store at 6:22pm when it says they are open until 7pm both on here and on their phone auto attendant and they are closed! I drove 45 minutes to pick up my dress during their business hours and got nothing. This has been the worst customer experience I have ever had. I will never recommend this place no matter what dress they have in stock, its not worth the hassle. Horrendous business practices.

I have worked in Suburban Square for over 7 years in The Times Building right next store to EJ. I could not wait until it was finally my turn to try on wedding dresses and make an appt at EJ! I would admire the dresses in the display windows as I walked by everyday! I called to make my first appt and the woman I spoke with was very friendly asking a few details about my wedding to get to know me. I had my first appt last week with Marina and she could not have made it any easier! She really listened to me because I had no idea what kind of dress I wanted or how to explain it. I picked out a few dresses and she pulled some for me as well. Marina pulled my dress that I could not explain but it was exactly what I was looking for! I was honest with her that EJ was the third bridal shop I have visited and still wanted to visit a few more just to see. Marina understood, but safe to say visiting the other shops all I kept doing was comparing my dress that I found at EJ, there were no dresses or experiences at other shops that could compete. I have my next appt for next weekend to try the dress on again so my mother in law can see it & to get my measurements taken and I cannot wait! If you are looking for a quality experience EJ is the place to go! They respect your budget and really listen which is so important in the dress shopping process! I also forgot to mention Marina has been very responsive with emailing me and helping me get another appt. Thank you EJ!

KATHERINE DAINIS, Evening Stylist at the Elizabeth Johns location in Ardmore, PA, has been absolutely fabulous to work with!Shes a great listener and has a unique way of making you feel like youre talking to your best friend, while still upholding a level of professionalism, a rare combination which I found to be extremely refreshing .When working with Katherine, you can immediately tell how genuinely passionate she is about wanting to give her clients the best possible experience during their appointments with her.If youre thinking about making an appointment here, Id highly recommend booking it with KATHERINE DAINIS. Shes the type of expert stylist that every bride/customer dreams of and deserves to work with!

I called for an appt and the first question they asked was whats your price range . I told her i had not shopped yet and what my price point was. I was told to try Nordstroms . I actually bought my dress at a wonderful salon down the road who welcomed me, helped me try on numerous dresses until i fell in love w a dress above what i originally expected to spend.

We had an appointment that we called to cancel the day before but their phone voice mail did not pick up. The appointment was for 4:30 and we called at 5 the day before, thus missing their 24 hour cancellation policy We called again on the day of the appointment and they told us there would be a $25 no show fee that would be charged to our credit card. We called twice to ask them to reconsider this charge, but they refused twice. We leave it to the reader of this review as to whether or not this is a good business practice.
