Just visited for the first time yesterday. Helpful and friendly staff offered me a free card box and 2 promo packs for hanging around and asking questions. The box I bought also had some awesome cards and I made a few trades while opening packs. Would recommend for a 1st time MTG player :)

I like this place because its small and out of the way, near the mall, and close to the base. Super nice people working in there. So for me its awesome.

Regularly go here. I have never had issues with anyone here. Not as packed as some other stores which makes it easier for my anxiety.

Placed an online order and the card arrived damaged. Customer service was awful and I was met with skepticism. Ended up keeping my damaged card. I would just buy cards from somewhere else, there are thousands of better stores to work with.

My favorite card shop in the area! The best selection of MTG singles and sealed packs/boxes. Huge boardgame selection!! Staff is really helpful and knowledgeable. Cant wait till boardgame night starts up again!

Have an awesome variety of MTG cards and one of the only stores Ive seem recently that sell poke.on booster boxes at a great retail price. Walked out happy with my new chilling reign booster box.

This store has a great community of repeat customers who get together regularly to play. The meta is primarily EDH at around a 75% level but quite a few modern players as well. Definitely worth checking out.

Laid-back business in a large establishment with an extensive inventory, friendly staff, and courteous regular customers. Definitely Magic the Gathering TCG oriented, with some Pokémon TCG products. In-store game playing is allowed at this time, with compliance to current mandates.

Once got confused and thought this was an actual game store. But apparently its just a front for the owner to yell at people who dont like how badly its run to abuse people online.Hahahaha took less than a couple hours to prove my point.

I normally only rate food places but I come here very often.The store is small but their selection is fine. 9 times out of 10 their cards are fairly priced. But you have to remember when buying from a store you are helping support a local small business. So when you buy the box, that is around 20 or 30 more than a different store or online, you are helping that store stay open.The staff here are great they will take the time and sit down with you and show you things that could improve your deck.The owner is a good guy I personally havent had any issues with him at all. He does make a mean BBQ.Their selection for the most part has everything you need. Its when you start getting very specific is when you will have a hard time finding the card you want.The store itself. Its small, Ive seen reviews talking about a smell, but I havent smelt it, no smoke smell either. One or two of the customers are a little ripe, but that isnt the stores fault. The store is well lit and quaint.The customers, there are a few strange people in here. But in my experience there are alot of those in the Magic community in general. But those same customers will also go out of their way to help you with your deck, show you how to play and wont nit pick on the rules in the middle of the game (too much), and will actually teach you to play better.This is a great store and if you enjoy playing the game, then youll like this store.Also they do make some good food, sandwiches and bbq. I havent had the bbq but I have had the Vintage sandwich and its AMAZING and I order it all the time.So come by and see me, and the other customers and well play commander together!

Very freindly staff and players at the store. Theyre also very knowledgeable about the games and will help you out. The atmosphere is also very nice, a key component to me picking a place. Im still new to this area, trying to find a nice mtg home, and they made me feel welcome. I know Ill be coming back more.They also have a cool inventory tracker and you can buy their cards online through tcg player and pick them up at the store.

Its a fine place to have fun, but its quite unsanitary. Masks are treated as optional and everyone is packed together in games. If you are ok with that, this is a great spot.

This is a game, card shop, and a damn fine one for being as close to the hustle and bustle of Lynnhaven. As gamers go they have plenty of board games, community events, and cards. They have a decent collection of Table Top games as well. The sandwich shop and snack food as well if youre inclined to stay and enjoy some community gaming. This is a locally owned game shop.

Love the place. They have a pretty good selection of both Magic and Pokemon cards. The employees are really nice and will help out once you call to them. Its also convenient how they sell snacks/food. Also, I know the owner.

Got lucky pokemon card packs from here today, got some full arts finally. Store is smaller but has alot of card items and gameplay pads. Good place to play Magic the gathering.

Staff was very very nice. Im just starting out playing magic the gathering ,and he took the time out to explain all the colors of the cards and what to do and which deck would be good for beginners. I would recommend this place to any one and everyone .

Im from Jacksonville FL and had to travel to Naval Station Norfolk for a few days. Wanted to play some Magic after hours and found that this place had a regular Tuesday Standard Tournament and Wednesday Draft Tournament. The standard had an amazing turn out of 27 players for a mid week tourney. For a place that did not have other gaming venues, it was busy. The other players/customers were extremely friendly and courteous. Many offered helpful suggestions to my standard deck and even tips on improving my future drafts. The staff helped find commons for a Standard Mono Black deck I was building as well as a couple of rares. I ended up only paying for the rares. Nice customer service!! Even enjoyed a wonderful turkey Panini sandwich from there during the draft tournament. I ended up ordering a custom T-shirt so that I can let my friends in Jacksonville know where the best place to go for Magic the Gathering in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area when its their turn to head up that way. Represent!! Though I dread traveling to Norfolk for work, I now hope for another chance to visit the Kaboom Store.

Seems like a great place to play magic and such, just wouldnt buy any booster packs or boxes from here. I understand that helping an LGS is important, but doubling the price for products is insane. Was worth the trip to look at their singles.

Been coming here for years, better than any of their competition. Great selection of cards, friendly play groups and staff and just all around great store. I have recommended this to many people who play magic to go here if they want an amazing, joyful experience to just chill and play some magic. Easy 5/5

The staff working here has the friendliest customer service Ive experienced. They are extremely helpful and have a good environment for my 5 yo to have fun and look at Pokemon cards. They helped get us started with or first 3 decks and we paid less than buying 1 deck from Target.Anyone interested in Pokemon or Magic TG has to check this place out!

Kaboom is a small Magic the Gathering centric game store. They have other things but they have invested the most in MTG. They have space to play and there current schedule is MTG centric. Their selection of MTG is really poor for singles. Their prices are not competitive with the current market. The place is a little unorganized and the staff are cordial if disinterested. If you want a place to hang and play MTG this is fine.

Overall experience was nice, the prices for trading cards are well above market value unfortunately, and they do not sell booster boxes of the higher end cards such as modern masters edition

My kids and I go here mostly for Pokemon pre-release events. The staff here are nice and run the events without being too rigid and overly bearing. The card selection for Pokemon unopened is good and their singles selection for Pokemon is growing.Magic the Gathering is their main gig and have a super wide selection it appears of those cards.

Great place I was just getting into magic and they helped me out a lot and we even shared a few laughs great experience and its a great size so I didnt feel overwhelmed at all 5 stars

Terrible store. Over priced cards, look online they are way cheaper. The people that work at this establishment are mean and annoying and act like you are a second class citizen. The atmosphere is one that you would find at a crack house. The place smells and the employees are jerks. Go to comic kings THEY ARE A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER THAN THIS STORE.Also the owner is very immature. makes snyde comments towards his customers. His response to this review is a perfect example of how this place is.Love those card stores that do not appear to even be used. Sort of pathetic.

Ok so let me just straight up tell you that the place smells awful!!! I came into the store to realize it smelled like a smoke shack. So I walked in and dug through some of the cards and it was EXPENSIVE. For instance a card that would be 2 dollars at comic Kings would be like 8 bucks 5.50$ if your lucky. As I was digging through some of the cards I wanted to ask one of the employees for a price. As I was saying multiple times excuse me. They would just ignore me and continue to do their job and treating me like was not there. As I walk out of the shop with my wife waiting in the car she immediately realized I smelled like smoke! How bad is it that you come out of a shop for being in there for 10 minutes you smell like your one of them in there! In short, it smells, the people are rude and ignore you, and terrible prices. The owner could call me out for being a troll for all he wants, this is me with my honest opinion. Unlike the immature owner that cant take public opinions and cries when theres a bad review of his crack house of a store

I go to Kaboom every once in a while and I am always pleased to dig through their archives for cards. But the last few times Ive been there, like no one in there to trade or play with unless you bring a friend, or crew. Great shop! Needs some more MTG Players in my opinion .

Kaboom is by far one of the best shop I have been to. Its a great place to learn magic and become a better player. Most of the people who play at the shop have a tier 1 deck and allows you study the mana game. The people here are nice, and will help you learn. The workers at the shop are great people and are very whiling to help you out. There is always a great selection of cards for standard, and the shops modern and legacy selection is growing. I enjoy this shop and hope you all will too!

Outstanding customer service and a friendly atmosphere only place i go for cards and comics. went in to build a deck to play magic with some friends. literally the entire store dropped what it was doing and not only helped me build the deck. they also gave me most of it for free and helped me learn how to use it properly. they have things done right here. 10/10

Friendly people but the computer system dose not incorporate all the singles that may be there. Several times ive seen cards in the case that the computer said they didnt have. Over all a decent shop but organization and management may leave something to be desired.

Great place to buy Magic cards. Everything else is in slim selection. Some customers make the experience not so great due to their language and hygiene. The staff is always willing to help with any questions you may have. They give great deals for trading in cards. Kaboom may be one of the best stores out for pre-releases. Its the only place I shop nowadays considering Comic Kings has a terrible inventory.

Went to an FNM a few weeks ago to play modern, didnt realize there was no dedicated players to the format. Everyone in there was playing EDH. I also didnt know that FNM was decided by player vote as a friend brought me there. Told the gentleman at the register we were here for modern, and no heads that it might not fire. I saw on the website afterwards that FNM is standard/modern and then for the upcoming weeks they changed it to Commander. I also see the store owner replies to 1 star reviews in a very unprofessional way. Based on that alone, I would not be coming back to the store even if modern fired off every week.Final review:I highly recommend the store for EDH/Commander players, but if you want to play modern I suggest looking elsewhere.Edit: wanted to see if I got a bad response to a low star review, appreciate you. Edited to 4 star.

I have been playing at this shop now for around 3 1/2 months, and i must say, they are really top notch! Everyone who comes through the door is greeted with an amazing amount of warmth! Will, Meg, Kit, and Rhonda are some of the best people you could have working behind that counter!On another note, my game has gone through the roof! when i started back into magic a few months ago, i tried a few of the other local shops around this area. Non of them took the time to help me figure out the cards in standard at the time except for Kaboom. Will personally sat down with me a handful of times, and broken down a deck i had built to help me tweak it more toward my play style. This store really does offer something better than just a place to play Magic... it is a place to grow in the game as well as in the Magic community!

Kaboom is one of the reasons why you get to know and shop with local card/comic shops rather than Wal-Marts or Targets. Come in and get taken care of. If you want an instant collection, how about as many cards you can stuff into a box for 25 bucks (about 1600). They always have a great supply of the new releases as well.

Friendly staff. Store sells a variety of gaming items, and has a fair menu of items to eat and drink. Store hosts gaming events (board gaming in Thursdays for eg); attendance is free. Come and check it out!

This is totally a great place to go. Love how the employees leave you alone while you peruse their wares. Sometimes I go their to feel alone and check out their great selection. The constant hot dog smell reminds me that we are alive and well on American soil and a pride in my country swells up inside me. In addition we need good places to play magic and the employees are more than willing to play with you. This place is so dear to my heart that Sometimes I wake up in a cold sweat but the idea that this store is there for me comforts me back to sleep as I cuddle my waifu pillow back to sleep. Their manager is ever vigilant for outsiders who dare attack out fortress of solitude and thwarts any attempts from troll army .Sadly in their ever going quest they sometimes are not available to manage the store. Dont let those trolls get you down and keep those hot dogs cooking

Also a massive turn out for FNM ( Friday Night Magic). Decent prices on most things. It smells a bit dingy and parking is limited. However there are almost daily events for pokemon, yugioh, magic, or dnd which draw a decent crowd. They buy many rare and uncommon magic cards and have a decent selection for sale as well. More variety for single cards than Comic Kings, but they tend to be more expensive.

Didnt even get in the store. Went by there posted time said 12 to 8 so we went to the book exchange came back five minutes to open and waited. Open sign was never turned on waited till 15 aftet still no one opened the store. No sign posted they would not be open nothing. I find this to be very unprofessional as ke and my wife are both big magic the gathering players. So it is doubtful we would return to the location again.

Environment has always been good, folks are usually talkative and great story tellers. (Fun to watch the people talk about past game stories) Its a convenient place to me because of the distance I live too, but keep it minds its a gaming store, not a comic store. Its also a gaming store, not a food court, but honorable mention is that they DO sell food, Ive never had it. They sell drinks so if you cant make it to 7/11 in time for drinks. They do formats for Magic and Pokémon, (havent seen anything for Yugioh yet) but its probably on the calendar. Check out their event calendar and Im sure they would probably be open to suggestions if you wanted to try a different format.Ive bought cards there, (I usually buy singles) but if Im looking for something and Kaboom doesnt have it, usually no store in a 20 mile radius will have it either. (I had called multiple stores in search of.)As with all gaming standards, bring your enthusiasm, dont forget your untap phase and you should be fine.(The locals are great people, as with most first interactions/impressions, if you say hello, they will def respond)

Where to begin? Well here’s the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good: the place has a decent set up and nice display of cards, with wonderful opportunities. The bad: the prices tend to be higher than most card shops and TCG. Not to mention the place is too small to host tournaments and has a horrible stench. FEBREZE PEOPLE! The ugly: the people are annoying! I don’t know who works here or doesn’t work here, but everytime I have gone in I have gotten harassed an obsessive amount of times. The annoying comments I get are, “Want to see my deck” or “Want to see my Pokémon go account.” I’m like I don’t care I’m here to look at cards not socialize. Worst of all the owner seems to call out all the negative reviews and respond in a tedious and snyde way. Cannot take criticism!
