Beginning at trip to Lote 23 with Café Regina, a sister to Kali Jean Solack’s Loiza Street flagship where servers would rather flirt with hipsters than serve waiting guests, it is from a small Kiosk that Baristas create drinks made from locally grown Beans, Regina’s Coldbrew dark and pure with mellow note of Cocoa that pair well to a variety of Toasts and Pastries. Also offering more experimental drinks, including a Coffee + Ginger Beer “Café Stormy,” it was after ten minutes wait that Sourdough and Sweet Potato Cake were served, the former meticulously topped with Almond Butter and Banana plus complimentary flavors while the latter offered a nice spice profile lent texture and sweetness by Pumpkin Seeds plus Raisins.
I was excited to try this location of Reginas Cafe based on all the good reviews and recommendations however I did not enjoy this experience. I first tried the café stormy and the coffee taste was way too bitter. Since I didn’t like that drink, I gave the cashew milk latte a shot and also was fail. Additionally, the service was a bad vibe. The server was pretty rude and not helpful. Maybe this was just a bad day for both me and her but probably won’t go back again.
Try the avocado toast drizzled in olive oil with crushed red pepper and topped with a hard boiled egg for breakfast. Pair it with a perfect latte to start the day on the casual patio. (Come back time & again, and you get that morning buzz while buying & tipping Local.)
Solid interesting coffees. Plying off the note of Puerto Rico’s coffee the cold and stormy was so good I forgot to take a picture of it.
Great scene. Amazing toast.
The café stormy is my drug of choice, the panetela and blondie my weakness.
Great coffee, amazing staff, one of my favorite coffees in Santurce
