Me and a friend was walking and came across this spot the owners were so nice and helpful we went on free shot Friday!! We were able to get a sample of the rum and trust it’s worth it.. Don collins is a great place to come visit and get rum and cigars for a reasonable price will definitely come back again.

Don Collins store front was aMAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!It would have been better as an under stocked mall kiosk!They were under stocked on cigars, and swag. Check out the lack of quality control on this cigar cutter. They didnt even have any there the employee gave me his... This is one place I really wanted to visit and bring back something special for my brothers and best friend (who is an avid cigar smoker). DO NOT waste your time on visiting this place, your heart will drop and the visit will totally ruin your day. FYI, THEY DO NOT HAND ROLL CIGARS THERE EITHER. Just order from the website so your not ridiculously disappointed in this place. This Don Collins Location is a complete waste of time. Especially when I made a special trip from Aibonito just to buy cigars from here. This display is literally all that is there to enjoy...

I am not a cigar smoker. But, I have friends who take them very seriously. So, I wanted to come to the oldest maker and purveyor of cigars in Puerto Rico to get gifts. I love history, so I believed it would be a win-win. When we got there, it didnt look how I imagined it al all. My imagination expected something more like a living history museum. LOL! But, before I even had a chance to feel disappointed, the young man who worked there enlivened our visit with his totally chilled out enthusiasm and warmth. Suddenly, I was learning things about cigars I never knew and enjoying every single minute of it.I received so much more from information and knowledge from that visit to Don Collins than anywhere else I went on the island. The young man was so very charming. The way he described the cigars made me feel as if I was smoking them myself. (Dangerous for an ex-smoker. LOL!) Fabulous! Because the decisions I made were informed. I was able to choose cigars that suited the tastes of each individual friend. And I have to say, every single one of those friends were thrilled beyond belief with their cigars. Who knew you pick different kinds of cigars for different people? He did.I might add, he was very generous. He introduced us to a new rum or moonshine they are selling. It is a deliciously dangerous fruity swoosh of liquid fun!

Online scam artists, i ordered a bundle on their website back in Feb 2020, then covid19 happened, I called to find out why the delay and got the everything is closed because of pandemic , I can understand that but soon after they quit answering their phone, I sent an email and got same explanation then they never answered another email either, now it is july2020 and still no word or cigars. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF.... cant wait to personally hear their excuse when i visit the family this Christmas.***UPDATE***I finally got a response from a Don Collins representative, seems that in this pandemic closures they had lost my order, I gave them the info and shortly after I got the cigars in the mail, they seem in good shape and feel fresher than any cigar I have bought at any cigar shop. Cant wait to light one up this weekend. Being that we are all in this situation together, I will give it another try at their online store once I figure out which of the sample pack I like better.

The cigars are a bit pricey, 16 dollars for one, but the service is amazing. The sellers are really knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend if you want to get some special cigars. However, if you are just looking for a cigar, there are other places around old San Juan that sell cigars for cheaper.

The staff here were super helpful. I dont smoke many cigars, but wanted to try Puerto Rican cigars. They were welcoming and patient with my questions. Fluently bilingual and genuinely kind. Good place to get quality cigars, they also have a lounge to smoke there.

Came in an hour before closing and the gentleman who assisted was super nice and knowledgeable! I had someone bring me a few cigars as a gift months ago and made it my mission to visit.Walked out with a few cigars (which were excellent btw) I will visit this place every time I’m in Puerto Rico!

Pleased w/ initial experience at the shop in Old San Juan this past January. The problem start when they are supposed to fill an order for a humidor. It has been over a month and no one follows through on sending the humidor. For almost three days no one answered the phone and when I speak w/ the guy who sold me the cigars and custom humidor I get nothing but excuses about their vendor who customizes the humidor and how they can ship me one that isn’t customized. After agreeing to accept a humidor that isn’t customized they still don’t fulfill that!Disappointing to say the least and scam artist like activity.I do plan on going back to visit family there and pay this establishment a visit after I look into finding out how to get my cash back.The greatest thing one can do is walk by the joint and run if you think twice about stopping and spending your cash there.

My girlfriend and I stopped in this little hidden gem and had a great experience. Edgar helped me pick out a sample pack of cigars and then we sat in the back of the shop talking with him and having a few drinks while I smoked a cigar. The cigar I had was rolled very nice and smoked slow and even. It had great flavor and was smooth. I cant wait to try the rum cigars that they age the leaves in the rum barrels. My girlfriend does not enjoy cigars but Edgar made her feel comfortable while I enjoyed my cigar. She loved hanging out in this shop, and even asked if we could stop back in one more time before we leave. We will head back tomorrow and get a few more cigars to add to my humidor at home and share with friends.

I expected more of a lounge and they also only had soda and beer to drink with the cigar. The cigar itself was good though, Ill grab one to go and find a better place to smoke it next time.

Bought a box of cigars as gifts. I dont smoke, but the shopkeeper was extremely helpful and understanding and put together a great sampler for me. Most importantly, the recipient has loved the cigars.

My girlfriend and I went on a trip to Puerto Rico and Don collins was a suggestion of my friend who grew up there. Upon walking in I was immediately greeted by Jonathan who also introduced himself to my girlfriend. He was knowledgeable and courteous. While I waited for my purchase Don Collins introduced himself to both of us. It was a great experience.

This location was shutdown each of the four times I stopped by over a period of five days. Wanted to buy a bundle of 25 cigars to take home. No dice. Ended up going down to Montecristo cigar bar (a block down the street). If this happens to you be sure to check out Casa de Montecristo. It is a classy yet unpretentious cigar bar in old San Juan. They have a wide selection of liquors to pair with anything from their humidor. The back room has skylights which give it a beautiful ambiance during the day.

Read about this place on a blog for things to do PR. The staff was very helpful. The vanilla cigar we got was very good. Definitely give it try if you are in old San Juan

I visited Don Collins smoke shop in old San Juan for the second time. I came back to restock my collection of quality cigars. The Lonsdale rum is quite good. Mr Collins is quite a host. I will be back.

Walked in and was instantly greeted by some some fresh faced, but knowledgeable fellows. Seems not badly decorated and supposedly much of the art in there is done by Don himself. Tried a Puros Indio, which was super smooth and had a great aroma. Draw was good and had an even burn. Smoked a little light for a big cigar but I was forewarned. Couch we sat on a was a little beat up.. but you know... Was directed to a sample pack and do not regret it

The store is a front for a Puerto Rican cigar factory. I am not a cigar expert but the $12 Don Collins robusto I bought had me fighting a really tight draw and I even had to re light it. The cigar lacked in flavor untill the 2nd third, but even then it didnt shine for me.The staff member was very nice and the test cigar they gave me free was a bit better (had a good draw and more flavor) than the one I purchased. I also received a cutter and matches with the $12 cigar. It could have been bad luck but this review is that of my personal experience.
