I went in because my check engine light was on and I had no idea what the cost was going to be. I walked in prepared for some expensive fix but I walked out with only a $30 charge and some minor engine tweaking. This place is well worth the value and they do great work. I will definitely be returning here in the future!

The guys at 13 and Crooks Auto Repair were very fast and very fair with their pricing. They I dropped the car off in the morning and it was done before lunch.

I LOVED this place when Dave Taylor owned it. Since he sold it the customer service has become atrocious! The new owners are not doing a decent job at all at upholding the legacy that the Taylor family built in the community for this place. Get it together or this place will have absolutely NO business at ALL!

They stole my vin number and I live in Kentucky and now I cant trade in my car because of their fraudulent activities. This has cost me $9,000. Dont go here they are screwing peoples carfax report. Ive never been there but they are reporting on my carfax and are saying my car has 186,000 miles on it when I have much less than that. They have used my VIN number 6 times

I echo the sentiment of others. This place was great when Dave Taylor owned it. Around Labor Day I went in for a repair because my Jeep was stalling. $300 later, it was still stalling. $540 later, it was still not fixed and every time I inquired, I got the run around. . .owner is sick, owner is on vacation, owners wife is sick, theres nothing we can do etc...Finally I went to my credit card company to stop payment, which they did. Then they launched an investigation. Two and a half months later, they ruled in my favor.You have been warned.

Have known Dave for over 30 years. Have taken MANY cars to see him. He has never steered me wrong. He is very affordable an you can trust what he says. He had done jobs for nothing when it was a simple issue. If you take a car anywhere take it here.

Excellent, friendly, honest and quick... went to get a second opinion on a whirling sound that my normal mechanic could not find the source of. My husband started going here over 25 years ago and was always happy with the service. I kept on going there after he passed and Ive always happy too. So if you want a great place to take your car, this would be the place.

My mother and I go to this station, for the gas, on January 11.2019. We went in I usually get ten dollars, I do not pay at the pump, we have heard to many stores about pump tampering . I always go in.I never need the entire ten dollars, I am always told , the charge is only what the pump shows. I went in the cashier, an older women, told me this only happens to me. I would have to talk to the owner. Well my mother tried to seeing we used her credit card. No one could tell me when the owner would be in.We went to our bank and spoke to our bank manager to learn they had charged the entire ten dollars. We put a stop payment on the charge.The intention was to get a bank money order pay for the amount we got.My mother tried the following day to speak with the owner only to over hear the lady fussing at someone,, about this situation. My mother decided to not pay or ever go to this station ever again. They are rude for no cause. A situation we feel did not have to be... One we were will to pay for what we bought.

Recently took my car in here for an oil change and to make sure there were no upcoming safety issues prior to a long trip. I had an appointment and they were very prompt about taking my car in when I arrived. Start to finish it only took them a half an hour to both check my car and do the oil change. I will definitely be taking my car here again!

Took my CX-9 in for new brakes. They called me within 15 minutes of me dropping it off with an estimate. An hour later, they called and said it was complete. They were so quick, the price was very reasonable, and everyone was very friendly.Update for my 2nd experience - my AC was acting strange. I took it to 13/Crooks. They found a MOUSE living in my car. Fixed it within hours and were extremely helpful and accommodating. Still highly recommend!!!

The service team can be a little rough around the edges, but otherwise they do a great job and are pretty quick and convenient. Pricing is always fair. I do recommend.

I pulled into 13 and Crooks Auto Repair to get gas. After filling up my car would not start. I went inside where two of Mr. Taylors mechanics were having lunch, one mechanic didnt hesitate to put down his sandwich and take a look under my hood. He then jumped the battery and pulled it inside. In minutes a new alternator was on order and I was back on the road a short time later.

I highly recommend 13 and Crooks Auto Repair. The master mechanic Mo, is fantastic. Not to mention the most honest person in the business. If you are looking for a place to have your auto fixed properly give them a try.

I used to bring my cars here for everything! Until today, my son took his car up there because it was not starting. Mo called him yesterday to pick up the car, when we got there last night to pick it up at 5:30 it wouldnt start just like we said. So we left it with a note saying as much. Got a call from Mo again this morning, demanding me to come pick up the car right now because it started and there is nothing wrong with it. He was yelling at me and being totally belligerent with me and then hung up the phone on me. Asked to speak with the owner or manger and was told he was not there. So I asked to speak with the person running the gas station desk, when she (Linda) got on the phone she was just as rude with me. I am completely floored at the treatment that I have received by 2 people in a matter of minutes.

The mechanic is very helpful and knowledgeable and the work is done in a timely fashion and at a very affordable cost.

Im sure they do great job but if you answer the phone with little to no enthuasim with a huff and puff after I ask a simple question, I probably will not be in to give you the time of day or my money.

Purchased a used minivan and after about a month of light driving my rear brakes began having a terrible noise and strange vibration in the pedal. I brought my van requesting replacement brakes/rotors and expecting a $200-$400 brake job but the mechanic brought it back out to me and informed that a piece of hard plastic had somehow jammed in the brake drum and was causing the problem and the brakeset was in good condition and relatively new.Most other places probably would have seen that situation and continued with the expensive repair but these guys just charged me the labor for cleaning up the rotor. Good to have a trustworthy mechanic again.

This is a long story, so Ill start with the punchline. Dave at 13 and Crooks went above and beyond what a normal business owner would do to help us get our car fixed. Heres the story:I am a Michigan native living in Columbus, Ohio. I was traveling through Michigan to visit family and felt my car shaking, so I exited the highway and ended up near 13 and Crooks late on a Saturday night. The owner, Dave, was about to leave for the evening but took a look at my car, diagnosed it with a bad wheel bearing on the front drivers side, but could not get the part until Monday morning. We left the car, found other transportation, returned home, and I drove back later in the week to pick up the car after it was fixed. I drove the car for another month or so and it was fine, and I thought that was the end of the story.Skip forward a few weeks, and we were once again traveling through Michigan, this time up north - to Black Lake near Cheboygan. We made the trip up there (7 hours from home) with no problems, but took a short day trip to the U.P. and the car started shaking again. This occurred the day before we were supposed to head home, and we needed to be back in Columbus on Sunday for a variety of reasons - one of which was that my wife was flying to California for business on Sunday afternoon.I took the car to Main Street Automotive in Cheboygan, where the owner there - Paul - immediately diagnosed a wheel bearing problem on the same wheel (front drivers side). I called Dave at 13 and Crooks, who agreed to pay for the repair with no arguments. However, it turned out that somehow during the original repair, the threads on the axle became stripped, and the nut that holds the bearing and wheel in place wasnt holding. In other words, the new wheel bearing was fine, but the axle was damaged. It is unusual for this part to fail, so literally no parts dealers - not even dealerships - in the State of Michigan or any adjoining states, carried this part in stock and it had to be ordered. This meant we couldnt get the car repaired until Tuesday the following week (this was now a Saturday morning when we were finding out this information). If that was the case, we would have had to rent a car and drive home, and then make the 14 hour round trip to pick up the vehicle after it was fixed.However - somehow Dave at 13 and Crooks tracked down the only part in the State of Michigan (a refurbished one) at Detroit Wheel and Axle, purchased it, and arranged to have the part driven up to Cheboygan - a 4 hour trip one way. It arrived at 4:30 pm that Saturday, the fantastic gentlemen at Main Street Automotive - who kept their shop open for us - made the repair, and we made it home early Sunday morning. Dave paid for the repair, again without hesitation.Considering the circumstances, this repair was as painless as could be expected. Cant thank Dave at 13 and Crooks - and the guys at Main Street Automotive - enough for their help and professionalism.If I lived in Royal Oak - Id have found my go-to auto repair shop for certain.

These guys are the real deal. Ive taken both mine and my wifes cars here repeatedly and everytime Ive been in there they have done a really excellent job. I believe they even saved me from doing pointless repairs I was asking for on one old car when they could have probably ripped me off a bit. Thats how you should do business right there. Ill be back again and cant recommend them enough.

DO NOT GO HERE! I paid with my credit card with the older lady using a card reader behind the counter. Less than a week later I have had 5 Sunoco charges on my credit card totalling $500. They skimmed my credit card! BEWARE.
