Wonderful employees. Willing to help in any way they can-- putting water in buggy, loading car, directing you to correct isle, whatever you need. Deducted 1 star as only 1 check out lane open & way too many in line waiting. Self check out open but I dont get a paycheck from them so that is unexceptable.

Ive done the bulk of my shopping here for years, even though they struggle to keep consistant lines of products stocked like PB, dog food, and milk. I lived through the phasing out of the handheld scanners, which is how I always shopped, even when the staff couldnt tell me why the handheld stopped working for me. But the final straw was the attitude exhibited to me and other customers. Manager hostility when I called to let him know a certain baked good I had bought was fermented when I got it home. The customer service rep behind the counter talking to me like how dare I assume I was valued as a customer. I am done spending my familys food and gas money at Kroger.

This review is for the bakery.I ordered two cakes several days ago for my sons third birthday. We set the pickup time for today at 1:00 as my sons party was at 3:00. Mixed emotions and mixed reviews. Lets start with the negative.My sons father went to pick up the cakes at 1:00. He was told that there were no cakes. What?! How is this possible? They had the orders there, as well as the little car figurines that we gave them to put on the cakes.However, no cakes. Needlesss to say, we were both freaking out about not having a birthday cake for our childs party.The manager came and spoke to my sons father and around that time the baker that had taken our order arrived for his shift. Apparently he had been hit by a car while riding his bike on his way to work. The manager and this baker, Jason, said that if my sons father had time to wait, that Jason would make the cakes while he waited. Additionally, the manager said that the cakes would be free of charge due to their mistake.So now for the positive. I was concerned about the time, but Jason was very quick with the cakes. Not only was he very quick, they looked incredible and he did a fantastic job and the cakes tasted absolutely delicious. Jason and the manager both get 5 stars for the handling of the whole situation and how great the cakes ended up being.The only reason Im not giving the review 5 stars as a whole is due to the fact that the baker that shouldve made the cakes just completely ignored the order.Also, can we just appreciate the fact that Jason made these two cakes on the fly after getting hit in the ribs by a car?! Unbelievable. Huge thanks to Jason. He should get a raise.

Frequently out of stock and only 1 cashier during busiest hours

Some of the most disgusting and shameful attitudes. They cheat customers of their groceries and no professionalism whatsoever. Had a manager come and reason out, this would have been different. Absolutely shameful and despicable acts of ignorance. I wil never come to this location ever again.

Todd (pharmacist) and Connie (pharmacy technician) were absolutely great! My prescription was ready in under an hour and they had to transfer it from CVS. They were lifesavers!

3 employees not wearing masks, one employee only loosely covering his mouth (not his nose) with a mask. Many customers not wearing a mask. So much for being sure everyone follows health department guidelines whed Covid-19 cases have been increasing in the area.

To me, the overall service in this store seems to be going downhill. I had to request service in cheese shop, but the employee never said one word to me. Just completed my order with a blank stare. Had to wait to checkout because only one manned checkout lane open and 6 of the 12 self checkouts were closed. And this was at noon on 9/13/2019. It is still a pretty nice store, but feels like it is going downhill.

This is the one Kroger where you can find the freshest produce (except on Sunday nights and Monday morning due to the intense shopping on those days). The only downside to this quaint Kroger is the fact that they dont have a large section for home goods such as plates, cups, spatulas, etc. The meat department always has the best and freshest choices. The dairy and deli/bakery keeps up with the high demand, and they already have pumpkin spice flavored everything for you fall enthusiasts. This store is kept clean and tidy and Ive heard that their Clicklist team is the best in Roanoke.

Except for very high prices, its a good store. Need more staff running registers and not push customers to the self check-out line. Customer service is being replaced by self check-out and if wanted to ring and bag groceries, Id get a job doing so.

I hate to give this a low rating because I have been shopping here for years because it is on my way home. The staff and employees are very nice and helpful, but this store seems to have a significant problem keeping things in stock, especially the produce. It has been a long time since I have been able to find everything I need shopping here, I will probably start shopping somewhere else.

Great store, miles above the Towers location as far as parking, selection, and store upkeep. I always go here instead of Towers for those reasons. Otherwise, its a great store with a decent selection and its kept up well. There are larger stores in the Cave Spring area, but this still has most of what Id normally get.

I like it much better now that it has finished its renovations. However if the parking lot is a nightmare. Whoever redesigned it improved on what was there originally but it is still very difficult to safely enter and leave. But inside Kroger things are much nicer.

Kroger is a fine grocery store, my go to in Roanoke, VA. I use the pharmacy, buy flowers, birthday cakes, fruit baskets, and enjoy special promotion at intervals. Decide to rent a movie, they provide. The store is well stocked; clean, with efficient staff.The KROGER FAMILY takes pride in their business, and big resoonsibility in their many locations. 5 stars for this Kroger at Tanglewood. I had to find an item and i wanted to share what an employee did for me. I was looking for this item and they looked up and down the isles trying to help me find it. They were working very hard and put a lot of effort into it. After not being able to find it, they got a member of management over and had them help me describe it.The managers name i didnt get, i dont think i could remember anyway, but they were really nice. It was a shorter lady with shorter hair. She smiled genuinely and even offered to help me put my groceries in my cart at check out. I used to be a frequent shopper at food lion but Ive started going to kroger every now and again because of this kind of outstanding service!

I found 2 nice fragrances of dial hand soap and my favorite bacon on sale and the blue bottle bubble bath, hard to find in other stores! Great place to shop.

This is My Kroger and a good one it is. The best cheese selection anywhere in the greater Roanoke area and a nice selection of good, fresh and sometimes local fresh foods. I was surprised to learn how local how much of Krogers food is!

Not my usual store but I had a few coupons for free items that weclose to expiring so we stopped in. I feel this store has better woo hoo deals but the layout needs some attention because the aisles are not the same lengths. The pharmacy being built with walls to the roof and in the middle of the floor means the line of sight is obstructed from all angles.

This used to be a nice grocery store. Then, the corporate bean counters decided to try to make all customers do all the work while the executives steal all the money. They have taken out almost all of the checkout lines and replaced them with self checkout stations and their stupid new scan-it-yourself system that almost no one uses. Hey Kroger, hire some people, get checkout lines back, and start worrying about your customers and not your damned stockholders, you idiots.

Ive been shopping at this Kroger for over 20 years, and in the last year or so have witnessed a serious decline. In fact, its so unpleasant now that sometimes I go to Food Lion just to get a break from the mess at the Tanglewood Kroger. The store seems to be moving more and more towards self-checkout, so there is usually only one full-service checkout available (usually with a long line). I rarely see anyone using the provided Clik-It devices.Be prepared to negotiate every obstacle imaginable in the aisles - carts full of empty boxes, full trolleys with no one attending them, useless displays ready to be knocked over at a touch.The one upside at this store is the wonderful staff - they are friendly and extremely kind and helpful. But if things dont improve, Ill see you at Food Lion - every week.

This was my favorite Kroger store. It is going down hill fast. With the exception of a few veteran clerks, the staff is falling short in customer service. The quality of the products has been terrible lately. A newer check out clerk recently left one of my purchases out of the bag & dumped my tray of sushi upside down. Once you could great quality products but a recent purchase of shrimp at the meat counter was freezer-burned. Even though I will have to drive a little further, Im finding a different store to shop.

The employees are good on asking customers are OK or looking for a certain item. At the register they said did you find everything you needed🙋

I used to love this store – it was my favorite Kroger in town. Recently, the produce availability and quality has been severely lacking. I hope it improves and when it does, I will start shopping there again.

Good place and a good variety of healthy and gluten free choices though somewhat difficult to find. It was much easier before whomever the marketing genius hundreds of miles away was who decided things needed to change.

This is one of the Kogers in this area I do not like. It has a weird layout , and it smells when you walk in I do not think it should have a smell when you walk into any store that carries food. All Kogers need a better fruit selection, and they need to make sure they are not rotten or molding when on the shelf.

Its Monday March 4th, my 50th birthday. My wife just got home from this Kroger. She bought me a small Tuxedo Truffle Mousse Cake for $5.99. Its expiration date is 03/07/2019. The whole piece of cake was completely stale. I tried to call and get ahold of customer service. I waited for 15 minutes and no one answered the call. This is the last time we will ever shop here. From now on we will shop at Fresh Market.

Too dark @ night to see produce! Too many fruit flies!!!! The employees feel like the ice freezer is a break room fridge. I have been dealing with store manager and corporate office about this issue and it is still unresolved!

Used to love Kroger, but the Tanglewood location has started closing at midnight. I work 2nd shift at my job so the time I use to go grocery shopping is after work, after midnight. It is better than going out to do shopping during the day, coming back home, and then going out again for work. Since this Kroger is no longer 24 hour, all of my grocery shopping is now done at the Walmart thats just right down the road!

Kroger is proving itself to be the corporate bad neighbor in numerous ways. The scan as you go is another opportunity to reduce the number of humans who need to be employed to work there. Ive found expired product in the meat section numerous times. Ive taken home meat with a current expiration date only to open it and find it rotted. Prices are not competitive with Walmart and now rival the higher prices Food Lion. Workers have been complaining about benefits, lack of hours, potential lay offs and some questionable business practices that would raise some eyebrows. In the end I would rather give my food dollar to a place like Walmart that had been a terrible place for shoppers and employees, learned the error of their ways, and have been trying to genuinely correct and rectify issues for some time. As Walmart moves onward and upward, Kroger - with a string of lay offs and store closings and increasing prices - is continuing to spiral downhill fast.

Used self checkout to purchase gift cards but machine had problem with my amount and it took a while for supervisor to get corrected.
