Attended PMTSR as a student. From the get go, I was not informed of what they expected from me, they did not give us the login information needed to complete tests online, which was most of the grading.I wasn’t informed that we even had to complete tests online. I was not told any kind of information about that until about 3 and a half months into the program, at which point my grades were 0.0% and I was failing, on their behalf. I almost lost my financial aid because of their failure to communicate with their students. Everyone in my core class had this issue with the school, and they all were failing because of the school’s failure to communicate. The school was not flexible at all with this, we weren’t allowed to make up the tests until all of the assignments had been assigned, even though it was not our fault that we missed 21 chapters.Not to mention, only one teacher, Miss Donna, actually is on the floor helping students with their assignments and clients.I was treated poorly by almost every “teacher” there besides Miss Donna. I was treated as though I was not worth their while, I was treated as if I was incapable of success.If you’re looking into becoming a hairstylist, Paul Mitchell IS NOT the school for you. There are multiple other cosmetology schools in Roanoke that will exceed your expectations and are way more professional and put together than this school.Communication: 1/10Professionalism: 3/10Organization: 0/10

Paul Mitchell The School Roanoke has literally changed my life. The learning leaders are extremely talented and so helpful. I’ll be writing a book if I list all the wonderful things this school has done for me as far as my education and personal. I love everyone at this school, it’s such an wonderful atmosphere I never wanted to leave. I started April 2019 and I just graduated September 2020 and two weeks later I am now an salon owner. God is good right?! If it wasn’t for my school, I wouldn’t have the confidence to open up my very own business. If your interested in furthering your career in cosmetology Paul Mitchell The School Roanoke is definitely the place you need to be to get that grade A education. The leader leaders are there for you every step of the way even after you graduate.The staff is very professional and so kind to everyone that walks in their doors. Don’t waste your time doing apprenticeships at your local shop, go to school and get the best education in Roanoke, Va.I can’t express how much I truly love Paul Mitchel The School Roanoke!

Ive had my hair cut twice and was very pleased. They aim to please and it’s a fun atmosphere watching students practice. Listening to the instructor while she was training the student who did my hair was very informative. I’ll be back!

I been going here last several years. Always well pleased. Prices so reasonable. this year the instructor dosent seem to care about the students or clients satisfaction. It just that one instructor always there now. I went on a weekend hoping to avoid her and only she was only instructor there.. She seems not to care anymore I know it a bad year with the virus. I got.my hair colored today. The student did her best.but color was awful. Instructor seems to take the easy way out.didnt even bother to color matched.. Wouldnt not trust this place right now to give me a perm. This is a white heavy setted short haired instructor.. been there ages. Missing the black instructor they used to have there. . Please forgive me, this is not a race issue.

I use to have good experiences and service. Now I don’t know if it’s new management but HORRIBLE response times.

My girlfriend went to get her hair done here and the stylist was doing what she could. But when an instructor was needed there wasn’t one to be found. They were all on their phones not helping and it caused her to end up with a color she doesn’t want and discomfort after. The instructors didnt help they didn’t have the color and they wouldn’t assist the people they are supposed they are to be “teaching”.Even after she left she hasn’t been able to brush her hair because of all the knots and tangles all because an instructor wouldn’t help a student. If you want to go to school here to learn... DONT. NOBODY WILL HELP YOU.

Could have been much better. I know these guys are students but 5 hours for a trim and color is ridiculous and I didnt even get enough blonde that I wanted. 94 dollars wasted

All 3 of the ladies who have done my hair at this place have done a wonderful job on my hair and I also enjoyed talking with them while getting it done! My hair color look natural so it doesnt even appear that I color my hair.

I have had Savannah twice and shes been wonderful! Ive been here for a cut, a major hair change (shoulder length to pixie) and then a trim and the girls havent disappointed. They are all so caring and take lots of time to do exactly what you want, and made me confident that I would only walk out with a fantastic hairdo and nothing less. Would definitely recommend for the prices, friendliness, and skill!

Instructors need to supervise the inexperienced students more closely. Im sure Ive had a worse cut in my life, but I honestly cant remember it--the layering is the worst job Ive ever seen, on my hair or anyone elses. Thankfully my hair grows fast so by February I may be able to have a real stylist fix this mess. It doesnt appear to me students are getting what theyre paying for.

I have gone to this training school a number of times and been happy when I left. The girls are polite, careful, and ask instructors how to go about doing the hair. I highly recommend Paul Mitchell for any of your hair styling needs. They do great work. Not like the other ones. I have and will continue with them.

All my life I have been absolutely terrified to let anyone touch my hair. My hair is very long, about midway down my back. I’m not sure how most people feel about long hair but most of us with long hair would agree with me and say that their fears is someone chopping it all off and getting scissor happy, this wasn’t the case with Shannon. She did an absolute wonderful job with my hair. She went over and beyond with great customer service. She did exactly what I wanted to do with my hair and more. I will definitely be going back to see Shannon!

I came in for a conditioning treatment and its amazing. The difference in my hair is unreal. It is so soft and no longer frizzy. The stylist was really great! She was very informative about the products and she did a wonderful job. My stylist was Savannah Aust. I highly recommend her and will be back again very soon.

Came here to get a trim and my hair dyed. I only had a general idea of what I wanted and my stylist Sarah helped with the rest :) She did an AMAZING job and Ive received so many compliments on my new style. Great work, thank you for making me look and feel great :-) 5 stars!

All the students and staff that I encountered where pleasant and professional. It is also nice to see them kind and helpful to each other. Very much a team effort. My student worked hard and was determined to make it perfect. This was my first visit and used Groupon. Will go again.

Natalie Bennett was absolutely great, she is a very social person and strives to do exactly ask you want. I would recommend her to any one. Just sorry she is graduating before I need my hair done again.

Got a trim today. I absolutely love it. Madolyn Legg was my stylist. She was very gentle, knew what she was doing, and did exactly what I wanted with no issue. It helps that shes kind. She said she graduates in September so request her while shes still there.

A wonderful experience. The students do an amazing job and will be wonderful cosmetologist once they complete their training. The teachers are very hands on and provide the confidence in their students to do such amazing work and make me as a customer feel like Im in great hands. Lauren did a wonderful job on my purple ombre. I am so glad that I can provide the students with hands on experience and walk out looking amazing.

I love the fact that I can have my hair cut every 6 weeks and it doesnt break my budget. I have had two students, Lauren and Michelle, trim my hair. They both were professional and did a great job cutting my hair. I have already told several friends about the Paul Mitchell School for meeting their hairstyle needs.

My hairstylist Montana was great, but for the price I paid to have it colored ($128) and it only lasts 3 weeks is ridiculous! I was told if I bought the Paul Mitchell shampoo/conditioner that I had a warranty on the color, it has been 3 weeks and the color is almost completely gone!! Dont fall for the sales pitch to buy the color stay shampoo/conditioner because they will not honor the warranty!!

Went to Paul Mitchell for a color service and had Whitney. She was great! She knew exactly what she was doing and was very professional. The staff and learning leaders were awesome. Overall a great experience. I definitely recommend Whitney and I will be back!

Not satisfied with this salon. It took three people to cut and dye a simple bob. The learning instructor finally had to come over and fix the chopped up mess the students had made. The students do not seem prepared and lack professionalism, literally a couple of them were just running around dancing through the salon. Be wary of coming to this salon. I understand that these are students not professionals, but gosh, this hair cut and dye job are worse than what I could do at home. You get what you pay for. Also you get a $10 discount for rating the salon on google, probably why the ratings are somewhat high, you have to show them what you wrote. Be aware!

I enjoyed my experience when I went there, Jada was fantastic. My sisters experience is a different story. I called ahead a week or so to ask if anyone there was comfortable enough to do African American hair, the person I spoke to was kind and gave a few people as options. When the day came for our appointments, I gave the front desk person our groupon coupons, which I dont think they applied to my transactions, and waited to be called back. I was pulled back almost immediately but my sister waited 30 minutes! We were told that the person that was to do my sisters hair never showed up that day, but come to find out she saw my sisters hair and decided she didnt want to do it. She didnt tell anyone! So my sister had to wait until someone noticed she was still waiting and had to find someone last minute. Carlee did my sisters hair that day and she did a great job, willing to learn. JESSIE was the name of the girl that decided not to do my sisters hair. If you didnt feel comfortable or just didnt want to do it, then you should have told someone!! Everyone else was nice to us but noone came up to apologize or anything. We will not be returning, which is a shame because I loved the idea of helping students.

Good place for a simple cut or color, but highly advise against it if you have long hair or want a specific color that isnt used very frequently. Also, it is a highly unprofessional environment - to be expected with students obviously, but it was one of the leaders that really stood out to me with her passive regressive remarks! I specifically made an appointment to get my roots done and color retouched, as it was fading from blue to this awful dull green color at the ends. She walks up behind me and the stylist/student and goes it looks great! Are you getting it all redyed or just the roots? I said no, the whole thing (duh, thats what I said on the phone and when I got there). She looks at the girl doing my hair and says Sorry! I tried to save you some time. Clearly, communication is not in their skillset here. But, good news! I dont have to worry about my ends fading to that awful green color, because now my hair is deep teal instead of blue, so it will all fade to that awful green color :) just what I wanted. When I pointed out the color was not the same as the first time I got it done, the girl BSed me about how sometimes hair turns a different color when redyed with the same dye. Obviously she messed up the formula of the dye, and was too spineless to just say that, in which case I would have been more forgiving.Long story short: if you want professional, hospitable service, or consistency in your style, maybe dont go here. The only upside is it was only $30 that I wasted, so I suppose its really kind of a gamble.

I couldnt be happier with my experience, and dont plan to go anywhere else! I had a radical idea that didnt work the first time, but I came back and they fixed it for free! It looks fabulous!!

Absolute worst experience of my wifes entire life my wife has had gorgeous very long hair her entire life she and I have been together for 11 years and during this time her hair has never been above her waistline she went in for a simple trim to cut about 3 in of dead ends off during the trim my wife got into an app on her phone and trusted the stylist to do with their supposed to do and even showed the stylist a picture of what she was looking for as far as the style and the lady in the picture also had very lengthy hair and when the stylist said that she was done my wife looks up from her phone and her hair is literally cut above her shoulders my wife instantly fell out of the chair sobbing. I wouldnt recommend anyone to go to this place in fact I am currently seeking a lawyer to try to have it shut down just because of the extreme amount of unprofessionalism and lack of attention I know that these are students but my wife has been going to schools to have her hair done for a very long time this place was an absolute circus with literally no direction and no professionalism anywhere. School or no school you would think the very first thing they would be taught is how to be professional considering this is what they are going to school for to do as their career however after the visit you would literally think you just walked into a middle school not a school where youre supposed to learn how to professionally do your job in the career that you are choosing. Hopefully this review helps save someones hair if you love your hair DO NOT go to this place you would literally have better luck at cost cutters!!! Regency was a decent school not sure why they got shut down because this place is a joke

Everyone was very nice and welcoming. They all helped in getting my daughters hair the exact color she wanted and a haircut that was exactly what she wanted. Taylor was wonderful.

2 services were provided for myself as well as my daughter (15). Im a black female with a decent grade of short hair. The young lady did not use any oil, grease or serum on my hair and when she finished it looked dry and frizzy. The instructor was nice enough to come instruct her to use serum and the instructor then re-curled the hair with a mini flat iron. I still went home to at a jam on the back to lay the stray hairs down.My daughter received color n was quoted $120 for entire head which is extremely high so they brought it down to $80 for sporadic areas of the head. When I made the appointment I specified the colors desired but when we got there, they did not have the color (basic pink). At checkout, it was $94 and when I asked about the upcharge, I felt the person at the desk was rude by saying we dont bargain with the prices, it was al a carte and she had to use 2 extra bowls. If that was the case, I should have been consulted and given the choice. My daughter picked blue and teal...her hair is green. We were not pleased with the service or experience. My daughters normal hairdresser quoted us $80 for color but didnt have availability. Ive learned my lesson with Paul Mitchell...just wait for your own hairdresser.I did receive a call back from the front desk employee that offered me a credit for my next service. What happened to doing the right thing and offering my money back. WOW!!!

I was looking at this school as a potential student. The tour showed me nothing but the way to the directors office. The over all look of the school needs to be updated big time since it is Paul Mitchel! This is the worst looking PM or hair school i have seen in person. The program sounds amazing but the tour was awful because i saw nothing and it looks like crap.

I am so happy with the service and style I got. Everywhere I go people tell me how much they love my hair, its like I turned into a new person. Madison Luzier is going to be huge, already having friends who own and work at very successful amd innovating salons telling me to have her some see them. The professionalism and knowledge of not only the cut but the waY to care for the cut was wonderful. Something as simple as that honesty and time have transformed my appearance and how I feel and knowing how to take care of my new cut. Loving it!!!

Terrible customer service, nothing in the building seems to work correctly, including the so called learning leaders, except for Mrs Donna she was so friendly. Be careful if you have a groupon. The stylist used extra color on my shoulder length hair and they charged me for it. There was no need for extra color since my hair is NOT long. The students are not closely supervised and she acted like she had never blow dried someones hair before. For a simple color and cut with style took 3 hours and the style was awful. Will not ever go back.

HORRIBLE COLOR EXPERIENCE! I asked for a very light blonde and my hair came out BRIGHT yellow! When I expressed not liking the color, the trainer had had the nerve to tell me it looked natural (I kid you not, it was canary yellow). I dont blame the stylist because she did what the trainer told her. However, I wish they both would have acknowledged that my hair looked ridiculous. I understand that its a school and mistakes will be made, but pretending it looked natural and telling me that I just needed to get used to it was unacceptable. When I went to get it fixed at a different salon the stylist asked me if it was a box color, and couldnt believe that Paul Mitchell had let me walk out of the salon like that . Not a bad place to get your hair trimmed up, but I was so turned off by how the trainer treated me that I doubt I will even go back for a hair cut in the future (and certainly not for color).

My visit to Paul Mitchell was a very good experience, Sydney Barton my stylist did an amazing job on my cut and the color picked for me was perfect, have a lot of compliments on my hair, would recommend them to anyone wanting hier hair done professionally!

Went here sometime within the last year and it was horrible but I didn’t have my glasses on so I didn’t notice until I left the salon and got home. I just wanted a straight across bob and it was so uneven it looked like a child could have done it. Went home and fixed it myself. Needless to say I will never be going back.
