These guys are truly the best. I have had my 2011 Tiguan serviced at the shop since moving to Portland 5 years ago. They communicate proactive, make smart and honest service recommendations but most of all they have a way of making me feel like I am their only customer. This week my check engine light indicated a engine misfire. Although I didn’t have an appointment Trevor was able to get my car repaired the next day. Not only were they able to repair my car but they also improved a stressful situation by changing the oil while my car was in the shop, again all without an appointment.Skepticism when working with mechanics is natural, but with these guys leave it at the door. My experience is the longevity of your car and your best interest is always their first priority.

Dropped my A4 off to diagnose and repair a peculiar problem with the infotainment system which had stopped turning on after a battery change elsewhere. Not only did Trevor set expectations and answer questions properly, but also did an excellent job explaining the problem after researching and diagnosing it correctly, followed by fixing it (these infotainment system/module/electrical problems arent always easy to narrow down properly). The price charged was very fair for the work done. I will definitely be using Precision Motor Car for further repairs and service on my vehicle and highly recommend you do so as well.

I had a very short experience with Precision, but so far I’m extremely satisfied and will be coming back for any additional maintenance. They were straight forward with a lot of information that is not inherently obvious, and this was on my modified car. I’m thankful there are businesses like this that can be relied on in the area.

This review is long overdue! Precision Motors knows VW Westfalias! Darrell and Trevor are a wealth of knowledge! They are honest, hard-working, fair, considerate mechanics who get the job done and then some. They are truly passionate about what they do and it shows in their quality, workmanship and excellent communication. We trust them wholeheartedly! Having them here in Portland has been a hugely beneficial for us and we seriously dont know what well do when we move. They are one of a kind!

As a first-time Vanagon owner (1989 Westfalia), I knew that we would need a skilled mechanic and someone who could be a reliable resource. This shop was recommended by our friends whove had their Westy for over 14 years. Darrell, Trevor, and the team at Precision have been amazing. They are honest, fair, knowledgeable, and very generous with sharing information. They are always excellent about communicating with us and keeping us informed while our van has been in their care. Their work is top notch. We are so grateful for their help and expertise. I highly recommend Precision Motor Car! - Laura

I have a VW Vanagon Syncro with a Subaru 2.5 and I recently brought it to Oregon to register it. Unfortunately it did not pass DEQ due to Too low CO2 to register a test. DEQ told me I had an exhaust leak. Yikes!I called several well know VW shops here in Portland and was told a variety of things ranging from needing an entirely new exhaust system to possibly needing to register in another state. Double Yikes!!Then I was fortunate enough to call Precision Motor Car. Trevor spent 15 minutes listening to my story and knew exactly what the issue was after I told him I had the stainless exhaust system. He asked me how far I had driven prior to the test. I told him all the way from Idaho, but while waiting in line at DEQ I shut the engine off. Thats the problem, he said. He the suggested I take the test again only ask the DEQ technician to use the cone and be sure to insert the prob far enough. Additionally, he said that I should keep the catalytic converter hot prior to the test by keeping the RPMs at 1500 or so as I waited in line. Sure enough, 2 hours later without spending a dime the van passed.I offered to bring the shop a case of beer, but Trevor politely declined and said he was happy to help. This is exactly why some businesses are great, like Precision Motor Car, and others are simply looking for another job.

It was my first experience at this place. Im sure the workmanship is excellent but my first impression is that they dont charge any less but their public areas could use a once over. I saw mouse traps and the place was filthy. Maybe not much done to that area of the shop since it opened. The work was done by the owner while I waited and he was efficient and good and I was charged less than I expected to change the headlight bulb. When we went inside to pay I became both disturbed and hurt when he interrupted our transaction to help a white male customer who came in to drop off his vehicle. If it had been quick - just a passing off of the keys and Ill call you when we know... it would have been fine. But it was a longer exchange then warranted keeping me waiting. Something told me that this customer had priority over me - and I got the distinct sense it was because of the color of my skin and possibly my gender. Not a great way to start the day or a new relationship with an auto repair shop. Re-born and Expert Auto are great shops and I may just drive a little further to have a better experience. I was trying to continue to work with the shop that has serviced the car I bought for the past 5 years.

I have had nothing but great experiences with these guys! They give straight up info about repairs that are needed, Ive never had them try to pad on extra work that wasnt needed. They offer oil top offs between changes that I really appreciate since I have volkswagon! Nice guys, great service, sometimes their schedule is a bit tight, but overall great to work with.

One word...INTEGRITY. My first experience with Darryl and Trevor showed that not only are these savvy mechanics, but theyre open to sharing what they know. When my 35 year-old 1984 Vanagon needed a 5-gas analysis they took it in. The test showed that there were more things I could do once back at my own shop. And to top it off, because they could not source the problem, there was no charge. The BEST part was Darryl showing me how awesome his Subaru conversion chops are. Hmmm...needs more words. Integrity + Skill + Grace + Friendliness = Precision Motor Car.Thank you SO very much!(the problem was a bad spot in the green O2 wire under the connector boot and a faulty ICM)

I love my Volkswagen! Between myself and my family, it seems like we have quite collection of them. My biggest complaint about owning a VAG product is the terrible service you receive from the dealership. Precision makes owning a Volkswagen reasonable. They dont sell you work you dont need and they charge fair prices for the work you do need. The first time I brought my car in, they even showed me around the shop and took time to talk cars with me. Im thankful for this honest shop!

Darrel is great and does good work. He is easy to talk to and explains what work he is doing. His son who works the front desk, however, is rude and condescending. I asked to have the code read for my check engine light last time I brought my TDI in for an oil change. They charged me $50 for running the code reader without ever telling me it would cost money and then he was very rude when I questioned him on it. I wont be taking my car back. It is too bad, because I loved going there and always got good service before Darrel started having his son run the desk.

Took my 87 VW GL Van in for extensive work last year. They put in a new complete stainless coolent system with radiator and new hoses, brakes, wheel bearings, front end parts and an auxiliary battery. The price was very good and the work done on time. Their work has held up w/o any issues. I use this van for long trips. They did not over sell me and let me bring some parts. Darrel offers good advice and stands by his work. Highly recommend as a professional shop that supports their customers.Jim JustVancouver WA.

I recently purchased a used Eurovan (finally) and the previous owner mentioned Precision Motor Car as the place to go, and he was correct. Trevor and Darrel are easy to talk to, they explain what you need and what can wait.

I have a 91 Vanagon, which Ive taken to Precision for some specialty upgrades, over the past year. They have done exactly what I asked them to do and in some cases, went beyond what most shops would agree to undertake. Darrel and Trevor explain what work theyve done to your car and any difficulties encountered that may have not been obvious at the start of work. They have had to sort-out some obscure problems with ignition and the Digifant FI system and did so in a very short time, showing a full understanding of its operation and the necessary fix. Because they are a small shop (only 3 bays) they can give your car headaches close personal attention. I am very satisfied with their work and their rates. You cant go wrong with Precision Motorcar.
