I chose American Rare Coin after reading reviews on multiple businesses, and it was the right choice. My 7 year old daughter and I are barely getting by, prompting my mom to give me a bag of family coins. Given our situation, money is a gift not taken lightly, so I spent a considerable amount of time researching and taking notes on what I was looking at (coins are NOT in my wheelhouse). What had taken me hours took Frank less than 15 mins. Burn :) He was straightforward and to the point, but most importantly, he was fair. He even called me back an hour after we left to say he had double checked on some coins to make sure I was given a good price-I can’t imagine any other business would take the time to make that call.

My mother-in-law left me with a rather large collection of coins. I had no idea what I should do with them. I had no idea what they were worth and no idea where to take them so I took a chance and brought them into Frank Kuhn at American Rare Coins and Gold. Ill admit I was a little nervous when he gave me a generic receipt that just said Boxes of coins and said he would get back to me, I wasnt sure Id ever see them again but a couple of days later he called me to say he was finished counting and if I wanted to sell them he would buy. Then he gave me the price and I about fell over. He offered way more than I thought they were worth! A couple of weeks later I found out yet again just how honest this gentleman is. Somewhere between my house, his shop and the bank I lost the check. This being an Estate collection I was devastated because whoever found it cashed it and kept the money. I called Frank and asked if he might be able to provide me with the canceled check. Without hesitation he went out of his way for several hours to locate the check and even try to locate where it was cashed. He also helped me with providing the police with a police report. Long story short we never recovered the check and losing it was entirely my fault but my point is Frank never hesitated to drop what he was doing to help me for several hours and when I offered to pay him for his time he absolutely refused. Frank with American Rare Coins and Gold has given me a whole new level of trust, I wouldnt hesitate to leave him with the Crown Jewels for I know he wound give me a more than fair price. OMG. I have been to many coin places in a few states and this is the first time Ive felt confident in the information. Frank tells you like it is. He is honest, friendly, and welcoming. I have stopped searching. This is it. This is the first and last stop for me.

I was originally referred to this store by family members and friends years ago, and it is always worth stopping in and talking to Frank. His prices are great. His inventory is always changing (which is a good sign because many others recognize his great prices). I tend to not buy the expensive stuff, and sometimes I just like to browse, but Frank always helps and treats me like an important customer. I do recommend that if he has something you like that you buy it right away because Ive noticed that more people are recognizing the value this shop provides to customers.Now, I refer everyone I know who wants to buy or sell coins to go here and talk to Frank because he will always treat them well and give them the best deal they are likely to find.Ive never sold anything to Frank, but Ive been in his shop many times when customers are having him evaluate their collections or inheritances and he is always very helpful and thoughtful - showing them what those coins sell for on Ebay (to establish value), he will spend an impressive amount of time evaluating their collections and giving them great suggestions to have others evaluate them, etc. Im always impressed with his patience.I also notice his inventory is always changing. Ive been frequenting American Rare Coin and Gold Jewelry for over a year and a half along with my three sons (now ages 7 through 13). Frank, the shop owner, has been patient and friendly. In our experience, hes refreshingly transparent regarding how his prices are set and how the coin and bullion markets work. The employees have also treated us well, quickly learning our names and interests, and even pleasantly enduring questions from a 6 year old novice.

I am an avid coin and bullion investor. I have been in every coin store in the south sound region, spending hours looking for rare coins.I probably wouldnt even write this review hadnt it been for major differences I see between American Rare Coin and all its competitors. Being a business owner myself I am very aware of customer service issues.Ive seen people wait for over an hour just to find out they didnt have anything of value at all. Frank greets everyone and finds out what they have within a few minutes, even when he is taking care of customers.I see people standing at a counter for hours with all their coins laid out. As you can imagine with hundreds of coins you attract everyone in the store asking questions, etc.At American Rare Coin Frank does things entirely different. First he has a private room where people can sit, relax and ask questions. He puts all the coins to the side and looks up each one to make sure he gets the best price.I have no doubt that Franks prices are the best. I have personally talked to several of these customers after theyve been paid. Everyone has told me Franks offer was a lot more than the competition.I personally buy all my bullion & coins from American Rare Coin because of the prices, selection, and service.

I had driven all the way from Ocean Shores on the recommendation of a friend. I am always skeptical of these places because I know nothing about coins or jewelry. I had accumulated quite a lot of valuables over the past 15 to 20 years and needed money for my 16 year olds first vehicle. After spending hours at 2 other places, I didnt think this place would be any different even though my friend kept reassuring me it would be. When I mentioned I may have issue cashing a check since my bank account is all digital, he offered to come down to the bank down the road to get cash out. You know I never do reviews, so when the owner (I believe his name is Frank) asked me for one, at first I was hesitant to do it. Then I thought about how much I relied on reviews and my personal experiences dealing with two different coin stores. So I wanted to share my experiences hoping it would help other people avoid the headache of getting comparable prices. I have had these coins for over 9 years. Several years ago I had a local coin store write me up an offer. I still had that in writing. That coin store had gone out of business. So I called the store that does all of the advertising in Bellevue. It sounded like a great deal, however based on how American Coin answered my questions and their great reviews, I decided to take my coins and gold jewelry to American Rare Coin & Gold in Olympia. The owner was very organized. He layer out all my items. He then explained how it worked and answered all my questions. Frank took his time and wrote everything down. He looked at each coin. He said he was looking for rare dates and wouldnt you know it, he found a 1913-S Quarter that he offered me $2000 for. You can just imagine how shocked I was especially when you consider the coin store that did the first appraisal didnt tell me about this 1913 quarter. I told him I wanted a day or two to think about it. I wanted to show my husband. I felt relieved when Frank politely helped me put my coins back in my boxes. I felt horrible at first, not selling at the tie, but the people at American Rare Coin are just the best you could ask for. Selling these coins had always been an emotional issue for me. I was always so worried about getting ripped off or lied to. This company was great in every regard and I would recommend them to anyone that wanted to know about selling their old coins and jewelry.

Refused to even test my ring that he insisted was fake yet it was appraised at 850 melt value by another jeweler. He clearly just either didnt want my business or was tired of handing out money. Either way he was dishonest and i would not recommend.

Fair Bidding, the owner researched the items that I brought and even went so far as to contact another specialist for clarification on one items value! The guy was thoughtful and considerate in what he could bid for my items vs. his risks in re-marketing them. Good rating.

Wow is there ever a difference in coin places! When I walked into American Rare Coin the first thing I noticed were a bunch of people waiting so I thought I would just come back later. Then the owner quickly gave me a price on two rings. I was just amazed because I had been to two other places and had to wait for 45 minutes for a price. Even though I had to wait a few minutes to get paid I received more than the other offers and didn’t have to wait. I highly recommend this place.
