New spot with an unusual concept. Its fun and interactive. You get to see your ice cream being made, and that is a treat. This place seems like a family run franchise, and they arent without a few issues. But the focus is on the ice cream rolls. And while its exciting and fun, the end product leaves you wanting. The texture is not all that its made up to be. I would still stick to conventional ice cream. Not a bad place, and one should experience this ice cream roll. At least once.
What an inventive spot! This was my first time here and I can say that I was really impressed. I thought it may just be a novelty (and it is novel!) But after trying three different creations, I can say definitively that it is great ice cream! I tried the strawberry, the strawberry banana and the Oreo. I was amazed that each combo was largely carried by the main ingredients and didnt seem to heavily rely on super sugary cream bases. In fact, we werent sure if there was much processed sugar added at all to the fruit flavors. True or not, it was a clean tasting treat that Id return for again and again.
This place stands out from other ice cream joints. If you are looking for something new to try, look no further! This can be a little pricey, but take the plunge, place your order, and enjoy the show! They will make your ice cream before your eyes -- these cups are truly works of art! My personal favorite is the purple yam, but I have tried most flavors on the menu, and everything is well-crafted. They have some unique toppings that would be tough to find elsewhere. This is a good one to bring visitors to, as well, if you are looking to impress your family and friends with all the delights the Bay Area has to offer.
Are you kidding me?!? Im reading so many reviews about price and portion sizes, lol. The small cup of ice cream was so worth the $7 bucks! The place gives a good-sized portion amount. And to be honest, you really shouldnt be eating anymore, lol.Just because an ice cream place is in Oakland Chinatown doesnt mean it has to be cheap. For the effort and craftsman of the Instagram-able ice cream rolls, Id definitely say its worth the price tag.My party and I went around 6 pm on a weeknight and got our orders within 15-20 minutes. I was just in awe with the artistry of making the delicious rolls.I ordered the Purple Yam and my brother got the Matcha Green. Id recommend both as theyre both to die for. Super thick. Super creamy. Mhm. They were both just explosions of flavors.Overall, Id totally come here as this place was super delicious.A few negatives to note:- Cash only- No line/name system
Delicious home made ice cream. Servers pour a cup of house-fresh ice cream batter on cooled metal plates. Using spatulas to incorporate forming crystals and fruit, they form and roll ice cream in front of you. The results are fresh and delicious. Thai iced tea is our favorite.
Delicious! This place is in Chinatown and easy to miss. That said, the ice cream was fantastic. I asked for a sample of the ginger ice cream and ended up buying a scoop. It was sweet—but not too sweet—and had a nice strong ginger flavor. The guy working the counter told me it is all house made. Some of the flavors they had the day I stopped in: green tea, Thai tea, durian, cookies & cream, coffee, cheesecake, and vanilla. Prices were good: $3 for one scoop, $6 for two scoops. The shop was very clean and there were some places to sit and enjoy.
The ice cream rolls are so yummy! We had the mango, the banana, and the strawberry mango. All three flavors had a fresh sweetness and the fresh fruit was amazing! While we were there we saw almost every variety of menu items being ordered. All looked delightful and delicious. They make the ice cream rolls right in front so you get to see the process, which is really interesting and fun to watch. The customer service is really polite and friendly. We definitely recommend and will become regulars. Thank you so very much!
The ice cream is cool. More presentation than taste. So its a bit overpriced. At least a dollar less would be better. Who controls the price range sign though? $7.80 a pop is not a one dollar sign thing.
Place was very clean. Good ice cream, good environment. Staff was friendly but a little stand-off ish. I dont entirely blame them, being in the location they are, probably see nut jobs on the regular.
Great prices! Love the juice and the milk teas. And their ice cream rolls are out of this world!!!
My favorite creamery! I wish they were open now, cuz Im really craving some of that good stuff. Best cream in town
Really good ice cream, super interesting concept (and you can watch them make it right in front of you! The only thing Id note is that it is a little pricey. Was about $7/8 for one, but it comes with a good amount. I split it with 3 people and it worked out fine.
Soooo I have to visit this place again. Visited today with a group of work friends for a birthday lunch. Ordered a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, and man even one thing was not bad! One would think its just an ice cream place, but one of the best american diners in Oakland.Freezing Point Creamery.
I love this place and I dont eat ice cream. They can make my smoothies dairy free and they use actually fruits. Have your ever had a pistachio smoothie? Its the bomb!!!!
Great rolled ice cream flavors! I had the Thai tea and it was spot on! The service was not great though... the woman at the cash register/taking our order was curt and not helpful at all. Would have been 5 stars with better service.
Good ice cream rolls! Solid variety of fruit and milk boba teas, and smoothies. Very comprableo to what I would find in Houstons expansive Chinatown back home.
Awesome rolled ice cream and regular. Cant wait to try everything.
They use authentic fruits and yam within their ice cream rolls and smoothies. I feel like it is healthier than other ice cream stores. The purple yam ice cream roll is my personal favorite.
Love to watch these young men chop up ingredients, into icecream that is SOOOO DELISHIOUS🍦🍨🍧
Personable service at this new corner nook serving yummy Thai-style ice cream roll sundaes in Oakland Chinatown. Dont be scared off by the smell of gas when you walk in -- its not dangerous, its just durian. You might have to wait a few minutes for your order since they make the ice cream rolls to order, but its worth it.
Better in Thailand, but maybe its b/c of the hot humidity there. Ppl were friendly and quick. Line grew massively quick when we were there. Popular with the kids.
Best smoothies in town overall I say they are better than quicklys
1st time to eat there sunday i will definitely go back for rolled ice cream
I actually tried durian ice cream! I was a very mellow taste albeit one I will never eat again. They had lots of other interesting ice cream flavors too. For the main event I got the mango roll. It was fun to watch them chop up the mango, pour on the ice cream, and watch them work it on the ice table into the ice cream rolls. Looked like the used fresh fruit too. Not cheap at $7ish per dessert, but the show and size is worth it. They are shareable if you desire. I ate 80% of mine though.
IT WAS AMAZING ❤️ you have to try this!!!
Best way to make your own ice cream 😜😜😜
Watching them make the ice cream rolls was amazing and the ice cream was delicious. One thing that I have to say is that the ice cream rolls fill you up fast so make sure you bring someone to split it with.
Went in search of dessert in Oakland and got lucky here. Tried rolled Ive cream with fruity pebbles and it was actually yummy.
I love this place. Great service. Everything is delicious here. Best place ever
Generous portions and fresh fruits for the rolls. The milk tea is also a must have. The wasabi ice cream is pretty good as well, its made with real wasabi instead of the horseradish stuff
Gotta go here. Must order an ice cream roll. Step back and enjoy the show!
Good icecream. Thai tea is bomb and pretty cheap for a huge scoop. 2 icecream cups for 5 dollars. Never tried the actual rolled icecream too pricey for me.
We loved it. It is so cool to be 8 and your dreams come true or at least this is what my kid said!!
Who would have thought Thai Tea could be made to look so beautiful?
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME HAS GREAT ICE CREAM WISH I COULD COME EVERY DAY
This place is great try it out wont be mad
Amazing rolled ice cream. I highly recommend it.
Small place . It was 8 of us so it was hard to find sitting, but nice people there a couple traded sit so all of us can sit together.
Upscale creamery. Moderately priced. An occasional treat.
Love the rolled ice cream and their juice are really goog
Delicious and flavorful smoothies as well as a really nice owner!
The ice cream flavors are so good, and its more rare ones like Thai iced tea. This is my place for OMT (oolong milk tea).
Great flavors, yummy tea and ice cream!
Insanely awesome place. fresh, spectacular ice cream roll
It was a taste of what Home For the Holidays reminds me of. thanks
The ice cream taste amazing specially the Oreo ice cream they have different flavors you can choose from the only problem is the parking.
The icecream is delicious. And its fun to watch them roll out the icecream
Great flavors and very friendly staff. Watching them roll the ice cream is a must-see!
Very good ice cream and teas and smoothies. Worth dropping by when in Oakland.
Interesting to watch them make the rolls, but it is gimmicky. The texture and flavor of melted ice cream that has refrozen at the bottom of a container.
Man I love dis place , they smack asfc
Delicious so many varieties and happy friendly environment.
Open late and handmade ice cream. Prices are high.
My daughter has found heaven
It was just amazing ♥️Satisfied my cravings
Great place to watch and grab some handmaid ice cream
Very good service and great ice cream rolls
Had wasabi and ginger ice cream, was great!
The most beautiful ice cream I have tasted
Got the matcha ice cream rolls. Very good matcha flavor but quite pricey at 7 dollars. The homemade ice cream is good as well, wasabi has a interesting kick and durian is super fresh!
Delicious ice cream, rolled or scooped.
A little slow but they give you a show! Super good.
Good ice cream that is made in front of you
Very delicious ice-cream rolls
The mango rolls are a must have! Some of the best ice cream around PERIOD.
