Near Old Oakland is this brightly painted ice cream and treats shop that sells made to order ice cream cookie sandwiches. You can also get the ice cream without the cookies.Try a scoop of the ube (taro or purple yam) and black sesame ice cream. Both may be the best of those flavors I’ve ever had. The ube is aromatic - like the taro bubble tea drinks from boba shops. And the black sesame tastes toasty and nutty.Although indoor dining is not available, they have a few tables and chairs outside.I love learning this is an Asian owned business - seems right since many of their flavors use Asian ingredients. Their non dairy sherbet has calamansi (A lemon/lime fruit from the Philippines)

Cookiebar Creamery has an impressive amount of ice cream flavors that are unique and will be hard to find anywhere else. Their cookies are freshly baked everyday. You can tell Cookiebar Creamery is a genuine creamery that takes pride in serving the best ice cream you can find.

This place is walking distance from my home so that was great. Depending on the time of day you may or may not be able to find close parking. The burgers smelled good (didnt get any savory foods this trip). The ice cream was great. We had Cookies and Cream, Macapuno, and Vietnamese Coffee. The scoops are a decent size, not too big or small. The service was decent. It was a bit late in the day so Im sure the staff was a bit tired. Overall definitely worth trying out.

The chocolate chip cookie really hit the spot. We went late at night and there weren’t many cookies displayed in the case, but they actually did have all the flavors in the back - so don’t be deterred by an empty cookie case!

Wonderful ice cream that arent your usual flavors (e.g. toasted black sesame). They have delicious sorbets as well, lychee and rose. Perfect outing for a late evening dessert craving. Friendly staff. They carry cookies as well. Will return!

Ive been here a couple times and between my partner and I weve tried at least 6 flavors. There hasnt been one we havent liked!

The ice cream and was so creamy and sweet. The perfect treat to end a Saturday night. I didn’t get any pictures sorry lol. I ordered the jasmine milk tea and thai tea ice cream together and it was the perfect blend. My mom got the banana Oreo and Thai tea. She wasn’t a fan of the Thai tea but she loved the banana Oreo ice cream, she almost convinced me to go back and get more 😊 and my daughter had the fruity pebbles ice cream which she loved. We also ordered cookies. Ginger snap, peanut butter and oatmeal cookies. The ginger snap was theeee best! I’m definitely going back for more. They were so soft and chewy. Omg to die for you. The reason I’m giving a four start is because I asked was the waffle cone homemade and the attendant told me yes and clearly it WAS NOT! I was very disappointed. Other than that I’d be back for more.

Great fix for your ice cream demands. They have a nice assortment of flavors and cone options. The one-scoop cone was packed hard enough so you couldnt knock it over with your tongue. They have options for ice cream sandwiches with an assortment of cookies as well. Check out the menu in the pic.

Fabulous ice cream shop! In a flash the man working behind the counter welcomed us and gave us tastings of any flavor. I got a cream single scoop of matcha and ube in a waffle cone. Both were so rich and delightful. I didnt get the chance to attempt the treats yet they looked and smelled astounding and different clients came in and purchased handfuls!

Hours not updated. It was closed. The website says nothing about the closure. Looks like they are renovating or it’s a different business coming here. Disappointing.

Unique flavors that are subtle and light. Not heavy or rich. One non diary flavor option available. We had banana oreo, jasmine milk tea, and honey melon. All resemble the true taste but subtle. The 3 scoops we got was a lot, enough for 2 to 3 people to share. Very generous scoop sizes. I counted 2 scoops of each flavor as one scoop.

Wow! Black Sesame ice cream is to die for. A friend ordered ice cream and cookies and delivered them to me as a B-Day surprise. So thoughtful. So tasty! Glad I know about this place now.

You can ask them to get it warm and theyll just warm it up in the microwave for you. They are soft, chewy, and just amazing.Tip: you can ask for 1 scoop with two flavors!! I love the ice cream and the cookies from this shop, but I hate who they have helping customers during the lunch hour. During this particular visit, on 3/26/19 at around 12:40, there was a customer in front of me who had obviously been waiting be serviced, but the gentleman who was supposed to be helping her was busy on his cellphone. He then puts his phone down (without washing his hands) puts on gloves and starts serving her. I go into this cookie bar during my lunch and Ive been serviced by different people, but every time I go to this one particular male (young black male), he always shorts the ice cream. EVERY SINGLE TIME (I have attached how he made my ice cream sandwich today). For $5.75, you would think you would get a lot more. I went and viewed how theyve previously made it and realize he has indeed been shorting me. I asked him if the way he made today is how it is supposed to be made (while showing him pics that customers have posted), and he states there are two different size scoops they use to create ice cream sandwiches. How? Based on the pictures I have viewed from multiple customers, this is not how the ice cream sandwiches are made. He gave me another small scoop of ice cream to rectify the situation, but if I order a sandwich, and I am paying the same price each time, why give two totally different scoops? Why wouldnt it be standard? And if a customer can view what previous patrons are given, why would they want the smaller scoops? It is a clear difference. If this is Cookiebar Creamerys standard practice, then there should be two different prices. If it isnt, then please give him some retraining on greeting customers when they walk through the door instead of being on the phone, and giving the proper scoop of ice cream when ordering a standard sandwich.

We come here weekly. May buy a t-shirt soon.I love trying their more eccentric flavors instead of typical ice cream flavors (vanilla, strawberry etc).Ive had the following:1. Genmaicha - I love this one because it has a rich earthy taste. If you like green tea this is a great option. The rice crispies give it nice texture and its sweet too. Its probably my favorite2. Jasmine milk tea - its creamy and just sweet enough to bring out the flavor in the jasmine.3. Cinnamon toast crunch- this flavor is surprisingly more milky and sweet. Its like youre eating frozen cinnamon toast crunch.4. Ube - this is the closest to ube flavor and less sweet. It actually tastes like yams.5. Macapuno(young coconut)- this tastes like its sweetened with condense milk and added shredded bits of coconut.6. Fruity pebbles - sweet but not as sweet as the cinnamon toast crunch, its like eating cereal7. Thai tea - great flavor creamy and balanced flavor of Thai tea

The Banana Oreo was Awesome!

Because of shelter-in-place I’ve been ordering a lot of delivery food. I’ve never felt like reviewing until now. I had the Smashburger and fries, and the burger was so freaking good I actually said “Wow!” And I live alone. It’s the best burger I’ve had since the Nineties. I can’t imagine how good it would be fresh, instead of delivered. The fries were still crispy and good. I think because they use paper instead of plastic containers and bags. Oh yeah, the cookies, and black sesames ice cream were tasty too!

This place was really cozy with some great flavors! The Vietnamese coffee and Ube flavors are fantastic.

Came 1.5 hours before closing and they run out of cookies and cream. Instead of replacing a WHOLE BIN, she just shrugs and says, “sorry. We just ran out.” I asked to taste another flavor, she once again passively shrugs and says, “sorry, I can’t.” Meanwhile, there is a whole family of 6, 2 of the kids and one adult are eating their treats without masks inside. You can’t let me taste a flavor for 6 seconds to make a sale? Okay. Thanks. Won’t be returning. Overpriced. Underwhelming and the only thing open on Labor Day. Not worth the trip. Go to Loards.

Okay Im obsessed with their Black Sesame Ice Cream. Thats all I ever get at Cookiebar. Forget about trying other flavors. I dont eat ice cream very often now, so I always seek out Black Sesame (and Ube) if Im out for ice cream.Ive had other Black Sesame ice creams (Bi-Rite and Humphry Slocombe) and soft serves (Matcha Love and Uji Time), but IMHO Cookiebar has the best one. I like that its creamy, not too sweet and harder packed than lets say Bi-Rites or HS. It doesnt melt as fast as Bi-Rites or Humphry Slocombes. Im a slow ice cream eater so thats very important for me.Next time we have dinner at Swans Market, we will stop by Cookiebar again for the Black Sesame since its just a block away.

The staff was friendly and helpful and there wasnt much of a wait (under five minutes). The food, cookies and ice cream was good and if you want a shirt, theyve got you covered. Only issue is parking but I was walking so I didnt have an issue. So if youre close to Bart or on a walk its a great place to check out!

Got the double chocolate cookie with chocolate malt ice cream, a combination that I initially worried would be too much chocolate (ha). The double chocolate cookie is the perfect balance of moist and crispy, and the chocolate malt ice cream was subtle and pleasing, not hitting you over the head with sweetness.

Cookies are among the best around. If you want to take it up a notch, get an ice cream sandwich anyway you like. Personally, I think its several levels better than Cream. And its always better to support local businesses. The Cookiebar does it right. You will go away happy.

Followed a local here to get ice cream on national ice cream day. Cookie sandwiches! They had peanut butter ice cream with chocolate covered pretzels which is my favorite combo ever!

Absolutely love the ice cream here! Their cookies and cream flavor is the creamiest ice cream I have ever tasted (and I have eaten a lot of ice cream). Always a must visit for me and my husband whenever we’re in the area. Highly recommend, so stop reading and go enjoy some delicious ice cream!

They have unusual flavors that turn out to be unexpectedly delicious, kind and friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. We love to go here. The cookies make for fabulous ice cream sandwiches. Only had a a scoop of Jasmine milk tea ice cream but that was SUPER good. Strong flavors of Jasmine and tea. Nice ambience in the cafe itself.

Went here for my birthday to get take out. The ice cream was excellent. I’m really here to leave a review of the burger pop up, Smish Smash, though. Omg, dead*ss maybe the best waffle fries or fries I’ve ever had in my life. The burger was also hella good and if you put all those experiences together you really can’t beat this place for a casual/fun dinner time pick. I hope the pop up never leaves!

I ended up getting the Jasmine Milk Tea that tasted really good... Im usually not a big fan of Jasmine MT flavor because they are too sweet but this was a good balance between the tea flavor and the sweetness! 10/10 would recommend!

IMO Cookiebar is FAR SUPERIOR to CREAM. Their flavors are unique and well crafted and so are their cookies. I prefer having fewer options so that all the options are done well.

Ice cream is too creamy for my taste and all of their flavors are insanely sweet. The cookies and cream tastes like it is made out of the white cream in the middle of an Oreo. Staff is super friendly.

Dope place! My favorite is the calamandi sorbet. I tried fruity pebbles, cinnamon toast crunch, Thai tea and green tea. All were pretty great but the calamanso and Thai tea stood out. 4 stars because those dudes behind the counter can use some help. We had a fat line!

One of the best ice cream shops in the area.

They had a good selection of ice cream flavors, with an Asian leaning selection, but my friend and I each got a split cup and the ice creams were all lacking in flavor. I had a macapuno and green tea and neither had a strong flavor, though the macapuno did have some pieces of coconut. My friend got macapuno and mango and she didnt think either had strong flavors. We did go kind of late (past 8pm) but the cookie case was empty, so cant comment on the selection or taste of those. Staff was super friendly though.
