Katie at American Freight in Newark was amazing to work with. She made it super easy for us to make our decision on a new couch. I was kind of set on a leather couch. With a new baby coming, Katie pointed out things I didn’t even think of! Katie was extremely clear in explaining American Freight’s policy before we settled on a couch and decided to take it home. There were no surprises and that was appreciated. If you’re looking for a new couch, cozy chair, or ottoman go see Katie!

I am only giving a neutral as they have not bothered to have their name updated. This is not a Sears Outlet any more. So dont waste your time going in there expecting something like Lawnmower parts. They dont have it. The place looked clean and they do sells appliances, furniture etc. Oh yeah! Sears as a company does not exist. I was only going there hoping some form of outlet still exists.

In February I bought a set of couches that unfortunately were not the best quality. We did go through the manufacturers warranty and they did end up getting replaced. Dan was extremely helpful through this process of getting our old couches removed and finding a set of new couches. Dan answered all our questions and was able to do the return and made it easy for us. Just want to thank Dan for all his help and making it a less stressful situation.

We had a great experience with Edward when purchasing our new dishwasher this afternoon. We knew what we wanted, and Edward had us in and out of the store with the dishwasher in less than 10 minutes. Taking home an appliance same-day was great! Highly recommend.

Purchased a wall oven from them that never worked couldnt return because thats their policy. Called manufacturer, They said unit was old model and not under warranty. Had to prove i just purchased. Their Interest rate on financing is absolutely too high. No return or exchanges accepted. The furniture is made of weak and cheap material. The furniture will look 5 years old after 3 months of use. If you work for your money and it means something to you. I suggest you stay far away from this company and their furniture.

Im giving them one star but really no star would be more appropriate. I do not recommend buying anything from American Freight especially any appliance. Our brand new washer/dryer Frigidaire does not work right of which A.F said to contact some repair person to come inspect the problem. Turns out that the repair person that A.F recommends is not legitimate. Please go to Home Depot/Loews before EVER BUYING FROm THIS COMPANY! PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM! NOT WORTH THE SAVINGS!!!!!!

Edward at the Newark store was extremely knowledgeable about the appliances we were looking at. He clearly explained dual fuel oven ranges since that was not something we were familiar with. He also made sure we understood the measurements for full and cabinet depth refrigerators to be sure we could fit it in our door at home. Should we decide to purchase an appliance, we will be working with Edward for the sale.

I purchased my bedroom set from American Freight through their financing program and was initially pleased with their service. Although they made a mistake that required me to come back to get the right item, I didn’t hold it against them. Since I moved into a new apartment, I was starting completely over and figured I’d shop with American Freight to purchase my living room furniture. Upon receiving many emails regarding their “60 days until first payment” deal, I figured why not! I wasn’t pressed about getting furniture yet, but that was such a great deal I couldn’t pass up. While I was on vacation, I received notification that a payment was in fact taken out of my account. When I returned home, I went back and forth with American Freight and American First Finance and realized that my salesperson, Daniel, made the mistake during the application process. He failed to disclose to me the additional step to qualify for the 60 day deal. During the transaction he frequently asked for assistance, but blamed it on the computer system being finicky. Of course, there is nothing American First Finance can do because it shows that I didn’t complete the step (a step I had no knowledge of!). I have friends and family who’ve gone through this same program (in different locations) and have had NO issues. If I ever return to American Freight, I will never come to the Newark, DE location. The salesperson was so incredibly eager to earn a sale that he preyed on customers by failing to inform them correctly.update on 8/28/21:I sent an email to the Regional Manager as directed immediately following his response and have not heard from him to rectify this issue.

I went in for two mattresses for my children and Dan V. was super helpful and courteous. Great pricing (IN STOCK, which nobody else does) and I will certainly buy here again.

Excellent service. From 1st foot in the door Mary spoke and assisted with purchases. The store had the items I was looking for. I do wish they had deals or options on bundles since I was purchasing 3 appliances. The prices were great. No other store compared. My only complaint is that the store advertises for Same Day Delivery. That is not true and should be addressed for the false advertisement.

I recently purchased a GE front loader washer from American Freight and my washer was scheduled for delivery yesterday. Unfortunately, my washer was too big to fit in the entryway of my basement due to incorrect measurements.The drivers advised me that I would have to remove the door off the hinges then schedule another delivery date for them to return. I wasn’t able to reach anyone by phone so I went to the warehouse in person and was greeted by Tyree who happened to be a store manager. I explained my concern to Tyree and he stated he would personally come to install my washer as long as I had the door off. I would like to personally thank Tyree and Dan (managers) because they both took the time to come to my house on a Friday evening to install my washer.... that’s superb customer service guys!!!

Today visit was great and great help from Edward all the associates was helpful as well. Great customer satisfaction.

I bought a GE dishwasher that was like new. They said that it was never used and only had cosmetics damage. They stated that it was tested. The dishwasher has never functioned properly and continues to shut off after a few minutes of use. All of their appliances are non returnable unless you purchase their protection policy which is as much as what a new appliance from any other store would cost, if not more. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!

Terrible experience.Purchased an oven with a full replacement/protection plan. Oven was a lemon that broke shortly after purchase; multiple repairmen attested to the fact that the oven was defective.American Freight has said we were entitled to a replacement, but theyve strung us along for more than 3 months now, saying the manufacturer wont approve the replacement(?).Ive written it off as a loss and purchased another oven elsewhere.If you chose to purchase an appliance here, just know that the replacement plan is a scam.

Big changes since Sears is no longer there. Way smaller brand and size comparison, much smaller inventory, it looks so empty. Not much of a price discount or difference for such a large space. Reminds me too much of the other bigger stores. Pricey and limited on wider selection. There are more offerings if I order online, but thats not why I went to the actual store.The bright side was that the staff was pleasant and helpful. Just didnt offer or have what I needed that day. I miss Sears so much. Not the same experience.

Terrible customer service, wasn’t greeted and no one offered to assist me the whole time being in the store despite the employees standing around doing nothing. When I finally got someone, it took him atleast 20 mins to see if they had 2 items in stock. They have signs that say same day delivery for in stock items but it was gonna be atleast a week before they could deliver a bed frame that was in stock. Over it, the customer service combined with the lack of in stock items and failure to deliver as promised ruined it for me.

If you need appliances or bedding and even furniture American freight appliances is the best place to go hands down!! Dan the assistant manager is great and really knows the products. In the past five years weve bought several appliances from there. A lot are brand new in the box or they have scratch & dent products available too. I would absolutely recommend American freight formerly Sears scratch and dent..... Thanks Dan for your outstanding customer service!!!

This place is horrible. I bought and paid for a washer they then told me it was sold when I got there to pick it up. Ok, so they never offered me anything else or even a valid explanation and couldn’t refund me. I had to call another number and now have to wait 10-12 days before so get a refund they sure took the money out immediately. Huge inconvenience and waste of my time. Not to mention the rudeness and lack of helpfulness I have no idea how they stay in business with this type of customer service.

Not the same as Sears scratch-n-dent.I went in for a very small sectional priced at $298.00 (from a new advertisement) and was guaranteed it was in store. When I got to the store, not only wasnt it there, the sectional similar to it was priced at $299.00 and the sales person stated that in the system it was $400 saying so I have to figure out whats going on with thatBig disappointment.Poor quality. Over-priced. Misleading/false advertisements.

This place is suspect they brought me a dented up refrigerator and they never contacted me to tell me that they didnt have another one and tried to keep my delivery fee when I picked up the microwave

Its recently undergone inventory changes to where its not only appliances, but furniture as well which would be alright if the selection of appliances hadnt drastically declined.

I wanted to purchase a refrigerator but i called the Newark and Northeast Store in Philly but no one answers the phone. Had to call customer service and they called and still no one answered. I was calling about delivery date. To me that’s a red flag and after reading these reviews I’m glad i didn’t purchase it. I’ll take my $2,000 somewhere. No disrespect but you gotta straighten your house out before you do business. Good Luck

Today my refrigerator died out of nowhere. I came to this store and I was treated very well. As soon as I came in a man name Lou came to me and immediately got to helping. He showed my wife and I around was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. I left with a new fridge. I will be coming here for any other things I need for house because of the way Lou treated us. You my boy Lou!!!

I cant say enough good things about this Sears. I bought my most recent oven here and just had to go back in for a new washer. The manager is super friendly and knowledgeable and he has always gone above and beyond each time I visited. A+ customer service. I got two really awesome deals here on two really great appliances. So far Ive had no issues with either, but even if I do have an issue, the prices here were so good I was able to purchase the top tier protection plan with my appliances which has superb repair coverage so Im covered! Not to mention, my appliances were still cheaper than competitors prices even with the top tier protection AND if you do find it cheaper than they have it, they price match! Manager told me they will be doing a grand reopening once the pandemic restrictions are over. They will have much more inventory, including a large selection of mattresses. I will be going back next time I need a new appliance.

As long as you watch the prices against the prices at the big box stores you will do ok. In my case they could not provide the model ,new,at the price of the big store sales price. Been there the last 3x to just walk out in the end. Not sales people, more like company pricing policies
