What a disappointment!! I dont have a British motorcycle, so Im not dealing with Mr. Mackie.I had lots of work done on my Honda , and with regards to that I have no complains. But what happened last time I dropped my motorcycle to fix a mechanical issue has left almost speechless.I left my key holder with them and I had a good luck charm in it that was given to me in the north of Japan, I had for 12 years, but when I picked my bike it was no longer in my key holder, no plausible explanation was given to me, I return next day with the hope they could find it, but no, I was told the bike was left unattended for 10 minutes on the sidewalk, lame excuse as the thief could have taken the entire motorcycle with him, no just the good luck charm. So there you have it, what happened is so unethical and incomprehensible that I have no words for it, utterly disgraceful.

I randomly visited this shop because when I went to my dealer their mechanic said my dual sport, that had black drips on it and was rusting after one day in the rain, was that way because hot oil dripped down and all I needed to do was clean it off. I didnt argue but you cant just clean away rust.As soon as I arrived, Hugh came out to greet me and asked if I was okay and if I was coming to hang out. Which was very nice. I told him my concerns and was ready with my tools to pop the seat off when instructed to. Two seconds later he tells me that they sold me a bike with no tube running off the battery. So what they told me was oil, was actually battery acid eating at my baby. I knew something wasnt right. Ive had my license a long time but this is my first bike so Im, to say the least, ready to raise hell fire. Not exactly sure how I want to handle all of that but Im very sure that this will be the shop I send any and everyone I meet or know who needs work because of how chill he was and because he gave me a hose and put it on with not a word about money. True integrity. Ill definitely be back. Thanks Hugh!

The first, last and everyplace in the middle for your British bike and beyond. Hugh is probably the man with the most hands on knowledge on Earth. He is also honest, to the point and trustworthy. Once something is fixed, it stays that way. You will get better than a fair shake, and better service than anyplace can provide for your British bike. Proceed with confidence.

Ive been there several times over the last two years with a Royal Enfield and a BSA. Another shop once quoted $377 for a repair on the Enfield that Hugh fixed in less than 5 minutes with a screwdriver, no new parts needed, and didnt even take any money for his time. That really saved me that day! He and Fumi are super knowledgeable and will save you a ton of money if you have a British bike because theyve seen so many and know these bikes better than anyone, so theyre not going to waste the time most other mechanics will just trying to figure out how to do basic things on your Brit bike at $95/hr. Theyre really honest and top notch at working on these bikes. I couldnt recommend a shop or mechanics better than this shop and these two.

I had called countless motorcycle shops in 4 different states over 10 years. Nobody would even touch my classic 1963 Honda, one place did a compression test then overcharged me. When I arrived at 6th St. Specials, Hugh told me.. “Hey man, don’t worry about it. We can fix anything” He is right and his mechanics are top notch. Less than a week later she was running strong and they charged me a very fair price. I cannot recommend this shop high enough, if there were 8 stars on Yelp I’d still try to turn it up to 11. You’ll be taken care of, look no further.

Easily the finest Triumph motorcycle repair shop in NYC, if not the state. Have taken my bike to them for 5yrs now and every repair has been top notch. Cant thank 6th Street Specials enough for all of the hard work theyve put in over the years.

These guys are surgeons. Theyre like the Triumph Whisperers. I strongly recommend taking your bike to Sixth Street over dealers, but especially if you have a classic bike. They go above and beyond. I recently brought my bike in for a tune-up. My brake lever was bent from a d-bag hit and run. I never even mentioned it when I dropped the bike off and Sixth Street replaced it without even being asked. Theyre just plain top notch.

Hugh truly loves British motorcycles and it shows in his work. Honest, fair and excellent service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with a British motorcycle, but Im sure he could fix any brand bike. Ive been riding motorcycles for 40 years & you just dont find places like this anymore.

Hugh is the man, straight up. Ive never found a more honest, sincere, and easy going mechanic in my life. I was referred to Hugh by a mech in Brooklyn who wasnt working on Triumphs as much anymore. Hugh helped me out with my 1978 Tiger, and the bike is running amazingly. He wont rip you off, he wont suggest work that doesnt need to be done, and he wont bull#*t you. He even discouraged me from some repairs I was suggesting, showing me why it wasnt necessary for me to spend the money. As I was getting ready to leave, my bike was running a little rough (had been sitting for a week at the shop while I was out of town), and Hugh and one of his mechanics adjusted the timing right there in the street, and wouldnt accept the additional money I offered him! He loves old Triumphs, and it shows. As long as I own a Triumph, Im taking it to Sixth Street Specials.
