Visited the shop while it was slow and noticed an amp priced decently AS IS. Asked questions about it, then asked for a business card as Im from out of town and wanted to consider it and they mentioned shipping being available. The person working at the time let me know that the owner doesnt come in much so Id be best off not calling the number on the card. I alternatively texted a separate cell number on the card to inquire about the price so I wouldnt bother anyone with a call. I shortly after got a call from the shop reprimanding me for reaching out to contact info ON THE BUSINESS CARD. Answered the phone and immediately started laying into me, I told you not to call my boss and what do you do, you call him anyways. I was considering going back to pay full pice anyways as it was still a decent deal but after that, I dont trust that these people wouldnt lie to me about whats wrong with an amp being sold as is. Not sure why these guys stand on such high ground when the shop inventory was scarce at best and empty the entire time I was in there but Id say your money and time are better spent pretty much anywhere else.

I messaged this place through Facebook to sell one of my guitars. My guitar is in excellent condition and has only been played a handful of times. It took them hours to respond and when they finally came up with an estimate, they messaged me at 11:00 pm! Really weird if you ask me. Anyway, they offered me $200 when my guitar is originally worth $600. It’s safe to say that I won’t be selling my guitar to them, they’re just trying to rip me off. Not only that but I have been inside this place before and they completely ignored me and my girlfriend when we were looking around. Definitely won’t come here or contact them again in the future.

Went in to get an acoustic guitar strung and tuned. Upon entering I received a warm friendly welcome and the fastet most friendly service Ive ever experienced, all while making you feel like youre more than just a customer.

Peaceful setting on bustling Bardstown Road. No nosy salesmen, but store associates are very helpful when needed. This was a classical violinist/pianists first time purchasing a guitar with minimal knowledge. Was flirting with 3 very different guitars, and they helped me settle on a PRS SE Custom 24 and threw in the baby amp I needed. Very happy with my purchase and will be back for help and accessories as needed.

The workers here are always very helpful and usually have a good selection of instruments and accessories for sale. Always better than Guitar Center or Amazon.

I dont know what the deal is from this place. I bought a guitar that they sold to me as new. Just a little guitar that I can travel around with. They sold it too me as a new. Not the most expensive but also not the cheapest. Well, two years later and the finish cracked under the bridge and the whole bridge came off. I called the manufacturer and they told me based on the serial and where they recorded it originally shipped the guitar must have been sold used. So, Id say, buying beware with this place. If I lived in Louisville Id be at that store immediately.

Called to see if they were open they explained they were there but not for the public. I explained i was from out of town and was sitting out in front of their business and would love to see what had. He told me sorry you cant come in and fondle our guitars today. I told them have a couple hundred guitars of my own to fondle if that is what I was looking to do. Whatever lol I wont be back.

Awesome place to do business! The fellas there are extremely flexible, intuitive, courteous, professional, and in my case, TOLERANT! I have bought and traded many gear items over the past 17 years and never left disappointed. Special shout out to Eric and Steve. Your willingness to keep me gigging and not smash a guitar over my head with some of my trade propositions is indeed commendable.

I walked in just to kill some time, walked out with a guitar. The staff is very hands off, but accommodating. All you have to do is ask. I love to go into a shop and play different guitars without someone hovering over me. That is what I got here. Anything in the store, plug in, have a ball. Prices were great. Nice selection of acoustics and electrics. Love the leather chairs to sit and pick. Not from the area but I will watch their website and stop by whenever Im in town. I strongly recommend everyone to stop in.

Tremendous facility with top notch gear. I was in the market for a new guitar and these fine folks let me take my time and play until my heart was content. They were courteous and friendly and answered all of my questions and concerns. I will definitely be visiting again sometime soon.

I put a new neck on my left handed electric guitar, and I wanted need strings install on it. So, I went to Guitar Emporium because I was impressed with their web site. A tech looked at my guitar and told me that the neck was not seated onto the body firmly. I concurred and requested that she repair the issue and install new strings. Then she said, “I have no experience with fixing guitar neck issues. “ The lady suggested that I take my guitar to two another techs. Maybe, she felt that since my guitar was left handed that she would not be able to fix it. So, I drove to Guitar Center and told them about my issue. A repair guy said, “Hey, your neck issue is very easy to fix and you want new strings no problem.” Now, if you want your left handed guitar either repair or configure take it to Guitar Center.

During our Thanksgiving visit to Louisville, I had the pleasure of visiting the Guitar Emporium on Bardstown Rd. It was the highlight of my visit. The store has a huge variety of great guitars, both electric and acoustic. We were encouraged to carefully try out any guitar on display (and we did). The owner, Mr. Buschemeyer, talked to us and made us feel welcome. I was pleased to see all of the better known guitars on display, which speaks paragraphs on the reputation of the store. Not every guitar store is able to represent all of the guitar companies. When Im ready for another guitar, these guys will be on the top of my list.

Employees where nice but mostly kept to themselves. Didnt go out of their way to help you. Which is fine if you just want to go in and play some nice guitars. Good guitars, acoustic and electric, offices ranging from 150-7000 dollars

By far The best guitar store in town! Great selection of quality instruments both electric and acoustic. Sherman is a very friendly hands-on owner and he knows his stuff. Instruments for beginners and professional musicians, this is the place to go. I did notice they gave group lessons in the back room of the store also.

Best guitar shop in town by far. Have been going there for many many years at three different locations under prior and current ownership. I have purchased many instruments and other related gear from them and they always stand behind their products. Staff are all experts in their fields and they always give you the straight and honest information, even if it is not what you want to hear. For that reason I would not pay attention to the very few negative reviews as compared to the numerous positive reviews here. Good honest people that do not hover over you while you are looking at their equipment.

Large store with a fabulous selection of instruments. Pricing is on the high side for new and used gear.I can attest that the sales staff are very standoffish and do their best to make you feel uncomfortable, regardless of your skill set, knowledge, or the amount of cash you have in your pocket -- if you come in looking like you have money, theyll pay plenty of attention to you.Many years ago I placed an order for parts for my Fender Precision Bass through them...and they never contacted me to let me know my order had arrived. Guess they forgot to place it, or decided not to order the parts for me. Id consider that very poor customer service, and I do not support this business when there are many other fine, friendly instrument dealers in the Louisville and Southern Indiana areas.

Bad customer service. I called about buying a New Suhr Guitar that was listed for $2,100 on their website. When I went to purchase over the phone, they told me it was $2,500. They said their website was not correct. He agreed to meet me in the middle at $2,300. (Thanks for charging me $200 over the listed price. I am very grateful) I then received my new guitar and while tuning it up, the high e-string broke. I put on a new string and it immediately also broke. I was at a gig and had to run home in a panic to get my back up guitar. I contacted the store and they told me to call Suhr to ask if they could send me a new bridge. Then I could find a guitar tech in KC and have them install it. (They did say they would cover this cost of the repair) That all seemed like a lot of work for someone that just tried to buy a new $2,300 guitar. I asked for a new guitar, but they refused to send me a new one until the old one was returned to their store. I told them I had a gig in 5 days and they told me they would not ship a new one until I returned the old one. (The new would not and did not arrive in time for my gig)I finally decided to accept their offer and take the new guitar, which was a different color than the original one I bought. When it finally arrived after my gig, I was so upset by the whole process that after a few days I asked for my money back. They refused to pay for shipping and it cost me $100 to ship it back to them. This all seems like a bad way to treat your customers than are spending thousands of dollars at your store. I would not recommend this place.

I popped into this shop as I was passing through Louisville and Im glad that I did. They had a Music Man Valentine in stock and I very rarely see that. This place is a great shop for serious players looking for serious gear.

One of the only places in Louisville to buy boutique guitar FX pedals. The staff doesnt like stupid questions, so its your fault if youre a total idiot in there. Great selection of high end guitars and amps. Geared more towards collectors than struggling musicians, but there are almost always great deals in there if you know how to look. I miss the old store as it had a better used selection, but since re-opening, they have been building up a great used stock.

Staff is great there. Not sure why the negative reviews, but the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They dont follow you around and tell you what you need, they let you browse at your own pace.Prices are fair and they have the best trade in policy in town. No one in town can touch them as far as the trade in value they allow you on your instrument. (as long as its not junk of course)One of the best guitar shops in the region and the only place I shop. Highly recommended.

Looks wise, is great. Not anything you couldnt find anywhere really. My husband and I walked in looking for a left handed guitar. But the service from the bearded dude was just awful. We were ignored on the way in and out. One of the guys there was very nice. We were ready to buy but decided against it because of the customer service. It could of been because we are young ? Not sure. But we rather put our money with people who care about their customers.

SO SO glad this place was resurrected! A unique store with an eclectic but helpful staff. There are some incredible finds in this place! If you are a guitar player, you NEED to visit here! Pass Guitar Center and go here!

My Own Heaven

I bought an old guitar from these guys that they said they had fixed up. When the bridge started coming off I called and they said, too bad thats what happens to old guitars. I took it to a luthier who said the work on the guitar was substandard at best and they charged me $1000 too much in the first place. The luthier said that the store must have gone downhill after the previous owner sold out. Thanks for ripping me off, Guitar Emporium! Id advise everyone to STAY AWAY!!! These guys are only interested in turning a quick buck!

Spoke to Steve who put a Rivera Lobottom guitar subwoofer on hold for me to pay later and when I was ready to pay he said the item wasnt working and then said he would sell the item to me for just the shipping cost and I would have to find somebody on my end to fix it. I waited days to get the invoice he promised he would send me to pay for the shipping on the broken item and didnt have the honor or decency to call or email me back. I had to call back and he said his shipping guy changed his mind and didnt want to ship it at all so that is why I am leaving them negative feedback for the absolutely horrible experience I had with this store. Do not buy! BEWARE!

Dont try and sell them an instrument, they will try to rip you off. But good prices and selection of guitars to buy.

Re-opened in August 2013 under new ownership. Lots of new cool stuff!

Their hours are horrible (standard 9 to 5 and very limited on weekends) but I finely made it in. They have some nice gear but staff seemed really unaccomodating and frankly perturbed by my presence. I like to buy pedals from GC and Amazon so I can hear what they sound in the mix and return them if they dont meet my needs. Their return policy included a restock fee, which was 15%, pretty high imo. It must be owned by trustfuders or a retiree because I definitely did not feel like spending my money there.

I take lessons here and love the instructors. My one complaint is that they can be pretentious towards customers.

The place in Louisville for vintage instruments. Only Steilberg is comparable, and I would rate Emporium slightly above just for selection.
