Always very helpful and friendly staff! Nice selection of new and used guitars. They will let you try out any guitar you want while you are there. They also have a lot of other items there, including sheet music, accessories, mics, headsets, an entire drum section, and a ton more. I highly recommend them!

Friendly faces but not so friendly prices. However, being the only (probably) brick and mortar music store left in Louisville, the price youll pay for convenience is a little more premium than your online alternatives.Thanks for being available when I need you most. Like, the time I ran out of microphone wires and Amazon was 5 days from handling them to me.

This place is so cool and the workers have gone above and beyond to help the past few days with my microphone set up. I did not get their names but basically all of the workers were there putting their ideas together to try and find a solution to my microphone issue. And guess what! All the hard work they put in had me a solved my issue and I’m so thankful for this store and the knowledgeable employees

It youre looking for a friendly retail experience,I would suggest that you look somewhere else. It seems that the higher you get in the management chain the more bitter the personality gets. The workers are fine and I am sure that once they get some sales experience they will be gone from that toxic establishment.They have a great selection, but the IDGAF attitude you get from the management.Makes you wish you would have bought it online.

I would recommend Sweetwater over Guitar Center they are very rude at the Stores and not very professional.. I am a Pastor who cant wear the Mask because of underline illnesses and yet they tried to force me to wear a mask even after me telling them I cant they was very rude and force me to leave the store.. If you go to their web site they should be sued for false advertising they have it on there up to 40% off New Year and yet I was 26 pages of merchandise theres not one item it has 40% off thats just wrong...

Weve had 2 experiences with guitar center, both in the last week, both have been negative.We placed an order for a Williams legato keyboard for pick up. We got it home and it was defective. We took it back.A couple days later, after a lot of research, we bought a Yamaha for pick-up. It even said pick up today! On the website. The next day, we still hadnt gotten a notification it was ready. We called and they said oh itll be at the store in 5-7 business days. Um, what? Why wouldnt you call us to let us know there was a problem with the order? We cancelled the order, placed an order with Amazon. The Yamaha will be cheaper on Amazon AND get here faster.Dont think Ill be returning to guitar center for music needs. From now on, Ill go to moms music in Louisville instead.

Personally, the one in Lexington has better customer service. I went to purchase equipment for my home studio. I felt the employee was more interested in his sales than asking what I needed and in my price range.

I walked around the store looking to purchase another drum kit for a gig this weekend. After being ignored the entire time I ended up leaving and calling other music stores in the area. This seems to be very common practice for Guitar Center

Bought gift cards in another state in 2019. I told the sales people some recipients would use them for lessons and others for gear or instruments. All of my cards said lessons across the front. I was assured that was only for marketing and that the cards could be used for any purchase. But the manager in the Louisville, Kentucky, store said he refuses to accept them for anything more than lessons. Customer service live chat on the GC website confirmed they are suppose to be redeemable for any purchase. Unfortunately this is the only location within 100 miles, so its hundreds of dollars wasted all because some manager at this location is either unknowledgeable of something as simple as their gift cards, or because he wants to pad their lessons numbers at this location. Either way, its one more reason why GC has always been a joke in the music community, and definitely why Ill never shop at this location or any other, again.*** Updated 10/20/2021 ***Per the response below from GC. I actually contacted corporate customer service months ago, shortly after this incident. I was merely told that I could return to that particular store, to whom I do not wish to give the business, or purchase online (for which that location would still be receiving the business). Unfortunately, what I was trying to purchase was a used guitar that I particularly liked, and which had already been sold by the time that I received that response. So the original statement remains - these were a complete and total loss of money due to improper training of employees.

Guitar Center is a wonderful music store with the newest of musical instruments and technology as well as the standards, and they also have a few used guitars and amplifiers. Additionally, you can order online and have your purchase sent to the Guitar Center and pick it up there. I believe they do some guitar repair work and will even change your guitar strings. If you play drums or guitar or seeing or keyboards or like to record and I encourage you to go into Guitar Center and look around and enjoy yourself!

I am a 51 year old drummer that has been gigging for many years.when this store first opened it was fantastic, but that ended about 3 years ago.myself and fellow band members would constantly go in with cash in hand and with seven employees on the floor and maybe one or two customers it would get frustrating waiting an hour to get helped,but wait ,we usually didnt get helped and left.management attitude is the worst i have ever dealt with in retail.most replys by store management are i dont care ,buy somewhere else,or my favorite why dont you order it from home that would be easyer for us.i have even contacted corporate to let them know there team at lou. store gave 32,000 of my business to sweetwater and this got me a sorry form letter .yeah.i sent another e-mail to see if they had even read the original e-mail.although they claim to respond to all e-mails within 24 hours,it took 4 business days to get a reply on 1st e-mail and still waiting on reply to second.as a warning to fellow shoppers if the web site says in stock better check store because i have been informed by store in stock really means we can order it not we have it.

Excellent place to find the latest Yamaha synthesizer on display. The MODX8 was on display up front is what I was looking for. The keyboard / synthesizer area had mid to low end prices on display on other manufacturers units. I was disappointed that there was no high end Yamaha synthesizers on display, just 1 unit in showroom. I wanted to see a variety of high end Yamaha synthesizers and would have bought one that day but there was just 2 units to see. Otherwise the store I thought was great. I will be back again and will ask a store associate for help next time.

Typical Guitar Center. I mean, you cant expect the world out of a chain. Pretty much everything is overpriced. The tradeoff is that theyll (mostly) have whatever you need. At least the employees are dope.But heres a psa to my fellow customers: please dont be a nuisance. Being a nuisance involves, but is not limited to:Cranking it to 11Letting your snot-nosed child play the drums when they havent a clue how to do so properlyInspecting, or god forbid playing, an instrument without washing your hands beforehandStealing picksAnd yknow, not having common sense. I swear, the customers of Guitar Centers are the bane of my existence.

Horribly understaffed and very unpersonable. Its an alienating experience because musicians are a tight -knit community and the music stores are the hub of that community. This place is the Walmart of music stores and you will need to seek out your own professional expertise, because they have about three people running this place. I asked three questions and got three, uhhhh...Im not sure. I can ask someone for you. If you go, go for the bargain and remember that its not the keyboard guys fault that he cant answer your questions about drumsticks, batter heads, and the why men have bellybuttons.

Not the largest selection Ive seen at a guitar center, but good enough, obviously you can order to store. Employees are nice. They dont currently have a repair person working there (september 2020), but plan to fill the position so if you need repair Id recommend calling ahead.

I went a couple months back and they accidentally sold me the wrong recording software i released it when I got my set up ready called up there nicely explained the situation they called me back maybe 30 minutes after finding a solution and fixed the problem in a grate manner do overall grate service 100%

I bought a Les Paul there a few years ago and they promised a special $100 (forget exact amount) rebate of some kind I would get via email 30 days after my purchase. After bugging the salesmen for a couple of months I was finally told I already got a discount on the guitar and didnt qualify for it. Too bad, its a great place but will never go back.

I ordered an amp on December 22nd and paid for overnight shipping. The amp is still sitting in a guitar center warehouse on December 26th. I understand delays due to the holidays, but how does overnight shipping turn into 4 days and it’s still sitting in the warehouse?

Jeremy in St. Mathews was the most helpful customer service representative I have ever met. He took great care of me. Made my warranty exchange as simple as could be. Got my replacement in the very next day. Awesome dude.

Ive shopped here pretty often. Good selection and prices. Also pretty fair on trades. I do find that you have to proactively interact with the staff if you want help. Im not sure why that is, I assume its because that store gets a lot of tire kickers and hobby players, or maybe its a personality type that goes with professional musicians who work at Guitar Center lol. Its not the only place Ive experienced that. I have heard the teachers are good, but havent taken any lessons there. You can meet some really cool musicians there. Sometimes I just go to see whos tinkering in the acoustic room!

Currently waiting on backordered items that were not listed that way when ordered. Its a cymbal pack and they have the individual pieces of it in stock. The phone customer service is a call center with no knowledge of the products. Kind of sad. Hopefully it gets here soon.

One of the better guitar centers around (but nothing compared to Nashville). They have a pretty good selection of guitars and availability of solid amps to plug into. The acoustic room is filled with a great variety of affordable guitars as well as top of the line brands. Always worth the visit.

Justin from the guitar section is straight up pretentious. So much so in fact that I call ahead of time and ask to speak to the guitar department, and if he answers I just wont go.

They have a lot of stuff and the prices are usually pretty decent but service can be very poor. They dont seem to care too much which is the common thing that people complain about with Guitar Center. Its a big chain and not a mom-and-pop shop run by anyone with a particular passion for the business so its a good place to go to get commodity things like strings and cords if youre in a hurry and cant get them online for cheaper, but I wouldnt expect good service.

Had a great time here today. Came in to get a guitar for sampling purposes for music production. Staff was great, showed me around and didnt try to upsell. Just the straight pros and cons of everything we looked at. Jesse helped me out a ton with getting everything together, and Ryan gave some solid advice on music production. Thanks guys!

Im 11 years old and my dad ordered a guitar from the online version of guitar center over two months ago and had to cancel it and he asked for a floor model and it still never came then we ordered from sweetwater and it came in two days

Paul the manager really helped me out beyond what I would consider his general duty. The staff is incredibly kind and passionate without being exclusionary or arrogant. Very good place for all stages of music lovers, from fans and beginners to amateurs and pros.

This place is awesome. When I was younger and my dad would DJ. Seemed like there was only 2 or 3 places to go for equipment. Guitar Center seems to cover all bases. Theres always someone to ask if you neef help. I like it.

Service here Varys on who you interact with.I’ve been told different things by different sales associates, but if you get the right person they can be very accommodating. They price match but only certain sites which I get. I mean I probably wouldn’t trust ordering gear from a site charging 50% less than retail anyway.

Knowledgeable and helpful staff really make this store. Sadly due to manufacturer backlog there may be limited supply on what you want to buy. If you know exactly what youre looking for you should call ahead first to verify their stock.
