Beyond frustrated and let down by Melissa. She altered my dress in ways we didnt discuss or agree too. Last fitting was more than a month before my wedding, picked it up the day before my wedding to find out she added straps. She had suggested them prior I was adamant I didnt want them, she insisted. Told her they needed to be removable if she insisted (me trying to keep peace). She sewed then in. So now on my wedding day I will have to be allowing my dress my self. Spent over $900 in alterations for her to do what she wanted, all I wanted was bottom hemmed to proper length.

My wedding was rescheduled for this summer due to covid, and I had lost about 40lbs since buying the dress. I was originally told the dress could only be sized down 20lbs from the bridal shop I purchased to dress from, but the gals at perfect stitch assured me that all the alterations I needed were more than possible. They worked their magic and my dress fit like a glove! Not to mention they did this all within about a 6 week time frame! Their work was so awesome I returned immediately for more alterations for a bridesmaid dress, and I can’t wait to see them work their magic with that dress too! I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for alterations!

I bought my wedding dress here. I had to have it. It was originally a size 12 but the lady (whose name I cant remember) has magical hands was able to take it in to a size 2. You wouldnt ever know it unless I told you lol. I wish I could wear my dress every single day. It made the most magical day just that much more spectacular. I only recommend buying a dress from here to anyone. I did go back 3 times before finding THE dress. It is a consignment store so you never know when new dresses come and go. Its well worth it!! Ive had an awesome experience with the ladies at the perfect stitch! Undoubtedly the best wedding and alterations experience I could have ever asked for!!

Melissa got me in right away and has worked well with me. Im not sure what the few bad reviews are about but when youre great at what you do its not always about people pleasing. Its about getting you into your dress the way you need it on your big day! And she definitely has done that. Ive been kind and respectful and the same has been shown to me 💞 Love perfect stitch so happy they were reccomended!

I didnt care for this place the workers came off rude and u just never ask if someone is pregnant u keep ur opinions to urself I feel. Not much plus size dresses available and I think its kindy high it looks like a thrift store inside I dont recommend this place but thats my opinion

Amazing experience!! They were so helpful when answering questions before coming in! They were able to see us without an appointment and helped my cousin find her perfect dress. They were so fast and willing to help when asking about alterations. As the MOH they offered to help with the alterations of my dress (that I didn’t even buy there) and for a great price! Supporting local is great when its for a great business. ❤️

The owner very rude and unkind to myself and my daughter. In fact my daughter started to cry as soon as we left. It was not a pleasurable experience. I felt belittled and pressured into having more work done on the dress than I had requested. Even worse the zipper she replaced so hard to zip I almost ripped the dress with no one in it. My daughter tried on the dress at the shop when she picked it up and the checked the fit of the dress. They had to have know the zipper was getting stuck at that time. I guess since I cancelled the rest of the work they just didnt care.

Shopping for my wedding dress could not have been easier! They have a variety of styles, options and price ranges. They are so easy to work with and make your shopping experience easy going! The owner and seamstress, Melissa, works WONDERS on your dress if you need alterations. She put so much work into my dress and it showed on my wedding day! It was flawless. Melissa and her staff were fantastic. I bought my dress from a shop on the northside and came down to The Perfect Stitch for alterations. They were sooo nice and did an amazing job! My dress fit like a glove and all the hand stitching was immaculate. Also, my dress didnt come with a bustle and Melissa made one and it looked beautiful. She also made my veil. Definitely recommend them if you need alterations!

This is a wonderful place! I went with my sister (the bride) and the rest of our group. We felt so welcomed the moment we walked in! After a disappointing experience at another bridal shop, it was so nice to be able to browse and the owner and assistant were so helpful and kind. My sister found a dress she loved for a reasonable price and the shop is just a fun one to see - in a charming brick building with lots of character. I first found Perfect Stitch when helping my friend find a place to do alterations on her wedding dress. Melissa did a wonderful job on her dress and was affordable. I brought two bridesmaid dresses there to have altered for weddings I was in and received great service each time. After I got engaged and found my perfect dress, I know exactly who to take it too! I got my dress on a sample sale so it needed a little more work. Melissa did such an amazing job. She is clearly very experienced and made the best suggestions as well as being affordable (important for a bride on a budget!). I had fun every time I went in for a fitting. You cannot ask for a better or more trustworthy place to take care of you and your dream dress. Highly recommend!

Melissa is just amazing. The shop is a bride’s dream. If you can’t find your perfect gown here, either custom made or having one altered, then it doesn’t exist! I was passing thru town headed for a wedding and I was able to have my dress hemmed. I’m not the bride :). Step momma of the groom. Okay so I had never tried on a wedding dress and was just looking. She basically said that she could spot someone with her body type a mile away (bigger in the waist). She made the comment that people who are over a size 16 will not be able to find a dress to fit right online. She proceeded to say I hope I didnt say the wrong thing numerous times. It was humiliating and I will never step foot in this place ever again.

I’m late is doing this review, but better late than never.My daughter was in search of THE DRESS and couldn’t find anything to meet her expectations. On a whim, she asked to see my wedding dress from the 80’s. She loved it and asked if she could find a place to alter it, could she have it. She’s my only girl, so of course I was thrilled.Finally my daughter found The Perfect Stitch. She fell in love with the Melissa just from speaking to her on the phone. We met with her and she looked closely at my gown and then proceeded to design the dress my daughter envisioned. After several fittings, where my daughter drove 6 hours from Kentucky and I drove 2 1/2 hours from northern Indiana, my daughter had the dress exactly as she had envisioned and she was so thrilled. With the few accessories that we added my daughter had the dress she dreamed of for her wedding and I had a beautiful daughter wearing my wedding dress!I would recommend The Perfect Stitch to everyone. Melissa listens to her clients and works diligently to put them in the dress of their dreams. She’s also very honest and takes her craft very seriously. This place was awesome! It was beautiful and smelled amazing. The employees were welcoming and attentive. They found out I was a veteran and gave me an additional discount on top of the awesome discount they let you draw for! They thanked me for my service and were sincere about it. This may not be a big deal to some but I am all about supporting businesses who support our troops! I ordered my dress online, and although I do love the dress, the corset was all wrong. They fixed it and it looks beautiful! They made me feel so important! I never write reviews but you guys need to know about this place! Go check it out yourself and you WILL NOT be disappointed!!

I was beyond anxious about leaving my gorgeous dress to anyone! After reading plenty of comforting reviews and having the first fitting I was sold! She literally had my dress looking perfect with straight pins! My gorgeous dress stayed perfectly all night even while dancing! go here, spend the money, and love the way your dress fits!

I was recommended to come here from the place where I had bought my wedding dress. The minute we stepped foot into The Perfect Stitch we felt unwelcome. She was was very rude, demanding we leave our drinks at the door (which I totally understand, but say it with a smile and a thank you next time). So then we go in, I change into my dress. And she looks it over and just starts hammering me with things that need done to it. She was very sarcastic and rude towards my family who was with me and towards me. I’m very much so the type of person who will let people walk all over me, so if it weren’t for my family I would have paid and came out of there crying. She took me over and started writing down all of the prices for everything that needed done without even asking me if I wanted any of it done. Told me I needed a push-up bra and added that price on there. Basically told me that she wouldn’t touch my dress if I didn’t pay the $200 to get it cleaned and everything. EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. I was told in the phone that for it to be altered would probably be anywhere from $80-$250. Yeah, that was the price for that ONLY. Add on all the other fees and my total came to approximately $750...I got a discount and brought it down to approximately $450. I will never step foot back into this place. I have no doubt she is good at what she does but you’ll only get so far with treating people like a money sign. I was never once asked my opinion or what I wanted. I felt very talked down to. I completely agree with the negative reviews mentioned here.

Melissa at The Perfect Stitch is so knowledgeable and personable. Their shop is absolutely adorable and they have a large dress selection. She was awesome when I went in for my alterations appointment. I did not buy my wedding dress from there, but I would highly recommend them for any future brides for their dress or for alterations!

She insulted a few ideas we had about combining certain sashes with a dress and she made us feel like we would steal something because shed ask us to wait to touch anything without her standing right there. Took my never worn dress for consignment and it was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and the shop is cute with a lot of choices. My dress sold within a 6 month period and when I received my check I was given a very nice card giving a little bit of info on the person who bought my dress. Overall it was a great experience knowing that someone could use my dress even though It didnt work out for me. I will definitely recommend to friends, especially if wedding is on a tight budget.

This lady and her weird little assistant are so rude! She doesn’t have a lot of dresses to show but talks about how great she is and her time is so limited. She seemed irritated that I have a full figure. Your a legend in your own mind. Never again

The wedding dress that I was going to wear for my wedding no longer fit when I tried it on two weeks before the wedding. Absolutely devastated, I called my Matron of Honor and she had her dress from her wedding, so she rushed over and I tried it on. It fit, but not well. It was just a little too big, and it was filthy from her wedding four years ago... not to mention, it was still bustled and we couldnt get it un-bustled unless we cut it. We took it to the ladies at The Perfect Stitch, without an appointment, and they welcomed us with open arms and made me feel like a queen from the moment I walked in the door. I had heard that no one would be able to do that much altering to a wedding dress in two weeks, plus clean and press it, but these ladies did. They took the dress in and hemmed it, re-bustled it, cleaned and pressed it. Thanks to The Perfect Stitch, I had the perfect wedding dress on my wedding day, and no one knew that there was a small catastrophe with the old dress. Thank you so much, The Perfect Stitch, for helping behind the scenes and making me feel like gaining a few pounds was no biggie. You saved my wedding day and my self esteem :) I would recommend The Perfect Stitch to any and everyone.

The ladies did an amazing job on my daughters dress. She got the dream wedding with the dream dress she always wanted. We couldnt find anything in stores that was meeting what we wanted. So we tried here. The reviews almost scared me off at first. After talking to Melissa, she had mentioned that previous partners didnt end well. So, now she has a lovely new assistant. I would recommend this business to anyone.

She does great work. Took my bridesmaid dress in for me and it turned out fabulous.

I took a dress in that I purchased online. I wanted to have boning adding to the abdominal section of my dress. I was told that this was not possible and that my only option was to add a strap. After trying on my dress with the starp I was not happy with the results. I paid a total of 267.30 in alterations and the dress was not correct. They charge a 145 pressing and storage fee. As a result I pulled my dress early and went to another place. I was able to get the boning added to my dress. And pressed for free. I hate that I have paid all of this money to still have to turn around and pay another person for somethingi was told could not be fixed.

Brides BEWARE!First of all let me start by saying, go elsewhere! Save yourself money, disappointment, and unnecessary stress. I brought my dress in to have alterations done; Minor things such as sleeve length and hem length. The dress was long sleeve and short. Melissa was very standoffish, distracted and in a rush from the get go. She sloppily pinned my left sleeve and asked if that length was “ok” to which I agreed yes. No measurements were taken and she was “finished” communicating with me in about 4 minutes. I proceeded to choose a sash for my dress as an added piece. I was told the entire amount of over $200 was due now, no exceptions. Against my gut feeling I paid the total due (overpriced alterations and sash) left my dress behind, and trusted that it would be fine. I went to a “final fitting” appointment a few weeks later and on the hanger it looked fine. I put my dress on and the sleeves were about 3 inches too short…………the back was pulling across the shoulders as well…………an after effect of disaster sleeve alteration =( All she could say was, “I did what you wanted me to do”………….The designer of the dress wanted it that way and you should’ve left it alone. Wow. Really. I am not a seamstress but I do know the difference between 1 inch and 3 inches.They never attached the sash, per my request, because at this point I can’t even wear the dress and had to order a completely different dress that I needed to wear in 2 weeks! I went to pick up my dress as is and call it a day, expecting she would at least refund the money for the unused sash and the money she charged to “attach” it. Nope, she offered the most sarcastic “I’m sorry you’re not happy with what I did” and shrugged her shoulders. I didn’t even ask for a refund of the alterations, but at least be a decent human and refund the services you didn’t even perform!Melissa was rude and insulting. She is absolutely the most selfish and unprofessional person I’ve ever done business with. She was featured on 90-day fiance’ and you can see the unprofessionalism for yourself in the episode.After taking my new dress to another seamstress and speaking with a few other privately owned places in the surrounding area of Indianapolis, I quickly learned that “A Perfect Stitch” has some nasty ways of doing business and that I’m not alone………….it’s sad when other professionals warn you after the fact. I wish I would’ve done a bit more digging and research before stepping into that dreadful situation. I felt it necessary to write this review in hopes that I save another bride from this trap.~unhappy and extremely dissatisfied customer with a ruined wedding dress

We felt so uncomfortable and pushed by the lady that does the dresses. She even kind of insulted us and told the MoH that she didnt have vision on dresses. We felt as though they werent listening to what the bride wanted and ended up quoting a price for alterations that put high priced dresses to shame.

Melissa at Perfect Stitch did my wedding dress and I love it! After an impersonal visit to an indy bridal salon, I knew picking something off the rack wasnt going to work for me. I took my vision of a 2008 Oscar de la Renta dress to Melissa and she instantly drew up a sketch, showed me some possible fabrics and got to work. I had my first fitting about 6 months after I first met with her and I was a bit disappointed that it was only the pattern in broadcloth. But thats how the process goes, she assured me. So if youve got less than a year and youre looking for a custom dress, this might not be the place for you. Ive had several fittings since and Melissa has been willing to make adjustment, even rip out a sewn-in sash that was already done, when I had concerns. She responds to email very quickly! Overall, a great experience. Melissa feels like family now and Im so pleased we chose Perfect Stitch!
