I used them for two FFL transfers and it was smooth. David was extremely responsive via email and super knowledgeable. Their hours are limited (Tues - Sat 10a-3p) but theyre very accommodating. Picked up my pistol from these nice people today. I had gone with a friend of mine and saw how easy their process was and gave them a shot. Communication was excellent. Do yourself a favor and read their FFL section in its entirety. They contacted me the day after my gun was delivered to their shop. Went and filled out paperwork and out in less than 15 min, quick and easy. Be patient and courteous and itll be a smooth process.

If there was ever a local gun store that deserved your business:Collectors Firearms will rip you off and Academy employees couldn’t possibly care about your business- This shop does. I walked in as a relatively new shooter and was well informed on detail and use of every firearm I was interested in. Every piece was priced fairly- cherry on top is all you have to do to have David and Amy treat you as a good friend within 1 minute is not act a damn fool. I will be returning!

They easily have some of the best prices in Texas and will shoot you straight on everything.As far as organization and communication I’ll just say 10/10. I had to deal with them about FFL transfers (that were back ordered with an unknown ship date) while out of state and in the military and the process could not have been smoother. Was told I couldnt be in the store without a mask on. I have an underlying medical and health condition and Im not able to wear one. So I left. Im exempt under the mask mandate and Im not going to allow myself to be discriminated against. Thanks for nothing sheep. Go to Carters country, they will welcome you with open arms! Perhaps read the governors mask mandate medical exemption part. If you dont want to do business with those who have underlying medical conditions then perhaps you should put up a sign that says masks required no exceptions including those who have medical and health conditions.

I use them for transfers and theyre probably the most polite and professional people Ive met and transfers are very affordable. Ive been in the hobby since the early 90s and met my share of grumpy guys working the gun counter. This is the only place Ill ever use for transfers from now on as long as theyre in business. Their prices also seem very reasonable and theyre not gouging people during this current panic. That says a lot about their integrity.

I was in the market for a new gun, and after a subpar visit to my previous go-to gun range and shop, I decided to search elsewhere.Fortunately, Houston has plenty of gun shops to choose from, and I wont lie, i was originally drawn to Lone Star Defense because their online shop had prices that knocked the socks off of every other gun shop in the area. I was further hooked by their great reviews, and I read them all, the good and the bad.Oddly enough, it was the bad reviews that solidified my decision to check this shop out. They appeared to be a no-nonsense, family-owned business who cared dearly about not only their own safety, but that of their customers.My experience picking up my online order showed me that I was correct in my initial assessment. The owners, who seem to be a husband-wife duo, and their staff are knowledgeable, and friendly, and I was impressed by their customer service, and safety guidelines. Oh man, was this not what I expected. I had read all kinds of horror stories online about how gun shop owners and employees are gruff, and unwilling to help and right from the start that was nothing like David and Amy. I emailed David for a day or two and he was THE nicest guy, super helpful, super enthusiastic about helping, and going above and beyond to do so. Then once I got to the store (Im assuming it was Amy, I didnt catch her name) was immediately welcoming and put me at ease, making the process incredibly easy. They were chatty, kind, and put my nervousness to rest about buying my first gun. Their classes are temporarily closed due to covid, but David did email me the name of a friend of theirs at Top Gun to help me out in the meantime. I have no idea why anyone would bother leaving a negative review for these people, when anyone who walks into their store is immediately met with helpful people like that. I literally cannot praise Lone Star enough. Im an extremely inexperienced gun buyer, my collection only has four guns, so I dont know very much about guns. David is super helpful in helping me understand how to operate the gun that Im buying, and he is really cooperative when it comes to the FFL transfer process. Ive done two FFLs here and I highly recommend them because theyre the only gun shop in town that is not trying to screw over inexperienced buyers or taking advantage of gun buying during the pandemic.

Best place to do an FFL transfer. Easy in, easy out. Simple process whether its your first transfer, or your 50th. Their prices on arms in the store werent outrageously priced, either. Theyre on-file at most online retailers, so theres no dumb back and forth like with smaller FFLs and sellers.

A friend of mine had ordered some guns from an online store and choose to ship his guns here a couple of years ago (Contrary to popular belief, You cannot buy guns on the Internet, you have to have them shipped to a federally licensed gun store) he paid the smallest transfer fee that I’ve ever seen by the way. Several years ago I was looking for a shotgun to go on a duck hunting trip. Did all the research and found the one I wanted! Sporting good stores had them for a good price but was never in stock. Carters had them for more than retail. Out of severe frustration I had to look elsewhere. Went in for the first time today. I had done a lot of reading reviews on a couple of handguns and tried some at the range. Still had a lot of questions. Drove across town to get there before 6pm. Got there with more than 5 minutes to spare before they closed and knew the knifes I wanted. Picked them over other options. Door was locked and saw people inside. Called to asked to come in since they showed hours of closing at 6 and was told no...I do customer service for a living so that right there is how you lose customers and get a bad reviews. Wont forget this experience. You lost a easy $200 sale.

Be very careful how you approach the staff in this store. If you want to get service, you had better make sure you dont offend them.Their feelings are easily hurt. And if he doesnt have a good feeling about you, expect to be asked to leave immediately.So, to be fair, I missed the security sign outside the store that says remove your sunglasses.And also to be fair when I was asked to remove them, I may have overreacted a bit. I was hesitant to remain in a store that demands that I remove my sunglasses (which are bifocals and are required for me to read anything). It made me feel unsafe and as a visitor to Texas I was already feeling a bit uncomfortable from not being familiar with the local customs.I get the idea that they have to feel safe too, but to be honest, this guys paranoia made me happy to be out the door.And he suggested that I rate him a 1 star on my way out. Hes obviously been rated a 1 star for friendliness in the past, so I thought Id oblige him.I also noted that they only have one star ratings or 5 star ratings.I guess if you go in there with the perfect attitude and give them a great experience then you get a fantastic experience in return.Be warned!Update.In answer to Davids implication that my sunglasses are not indeed bifocals. My wife even felt comfortable enough to go there on her own and make a transfer. She said its the only place that doesnt make you feel like you need to be a member of the boys club to go in a gun store. Cant recommend this place enough.

These guys are awesome. I work right down the street from them and came in to see about getting some guns. They were very helpful with everything.I am new to buying/having guns and these people took time to explain everything to me, answer questions that I have, go over everything and make sure that I knew what I was doing. Alex, Amy, and (I would assume based on other reviews) David helped me out a ton. They never made me feel bad for not knowing a lot and they gave me coffee and water while waiting for the background check.This company definitely goes above and beyond with their service and their other reviews make that very clear. I would totally recommend them to anybody looking to purchase firearms, get a chl, or anything. They are incredibly awesome.

My go to place for FFL transfer. A free cup of coffee plus 5 minutes (maximum) of Paperwork and Im out of the door. They are really nice dealing with; all of them especially Amy.My shipment arrived while I was out of state; they understood and kept it safe for me - its been two weeks now.Thank you Lone Star!
