I stumbled upon this record store in downtown Grand Rapids. It is, without a doubt, one of the best organized shops I’ve been in. Hats off to the staff for making a better shopping experience.They have an inventory of about 2/3 LPs, 1/3 CDs and some cassettes in the mix. The selection of new and used vinyl are again about 1/4 new and 3/4 used. They seem to be discerning in the used LPs they take. There is a good mix of genres.The employee working was extremely helpful with locating items. He even found a near mint condition LP for me. He went above and beyond to help me package my LP for travel. This led to a discussion about packaging LPs for shipment. I saw first hand that Vertigo carefully packages items in LP specific shipping cardboard.I’ll plan to be back for future purchases online or when I visit Grand Rapids again. A great, if not exemplary example of a quality record shop

Cool old school record shop, specializing in New and used vinyl LPs. Lots of other mediums like CDs, DVDs, VHS and cassettes as well. Owner was very knowledgeable and eager to assist patrons. Remember to put away any valuables visible in your car when parking along this stretch of Division Street.

Great selection compared to most other record shops around. Lots of genres covered and many artists new and old. Store is kind of cluttered but if you need help the staff is more than happy to help you find what youre looking for.

Vertigo music is the perfect record shop. The floors are wooden and creaky, the music is loud and unashamed, and it has THAT smell in there. These people sell tons of used and new records, CDs, tapes, and DVDs. Like, an insane amount of music is here. To the point where it would be overwhelming if it werent so perfectly organized. They keep the new and used records separate which is awesome. Super friendly staff that youd expect at a record shop, too. Cant say enough about this place!

What a great place to forget the stress of the day!

Favorite nearby record shop. Herm always has something surprising. Go stop in. Theres a lot of construction on Division right now, but plenty of side street parking available to get you there.

Might not seem like much on the outside but Vertigo is probably the best record store Ive been to in Michigan. Not sure how he does it but his new LP prices are either the same or cheaper than even Amazon. Highly recommend for anyone that collects physical media.

The best record store in the Grand Rapids area. Herm and the rest of his team are extremely friendly, if youre looking for anything in particular ask right away and theyll point you in the right direction, otherwise you can spend hours in here looking over the massive library of albums. If they dont have what youre looking for, they will order it for you no problems. Prices are practically always at the same price as online or even less, Its a gem of a store!

Here it is folks, the #1 record store in Michigan and maybe even the midwest and beyond. Vertigo stocks more new vinyl than anyone, period. And the used section is pretty full too. New and used are separated and all genres are included. Located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, this shop has a historicatmospheric style with its creaky wooden floors and high ceilings. The owner Herm, greats every regular by name and welcomes newcomers wholeheartedly. Youll also get a fair value for your gently used vinyl. All fine attributes but what sets the store apart are the prices which are the cheapest Ive seen for new and competitive for used. Do yourself a favor and stop by Vertigo today. Chances are youll become a regular too.

I’ve been going to Vertigo for years, since I first moved to GR five years ago. The passion from those who work here is evident not only in how they run their business, but their appreciation for the arts. The store owner, Herm, and his employees put absolutely everything into this place. I owe the bulk of my record collection to Vertigo. Not only because their inventory is 99% of the time cheaper than Amazon, not only because I love looking through their incredibly diverse and massive selection of new vinyl, but because the customer service here is just the best. I’ve been to a lot of record stores over the years, and most of the time it’s run by dudes who don’t want to help people just getting into music, who judge the people who buy a Top 40 record. Vertigo is not one of those record stores. These guys are excited to help, and excited to talk about all kinds of music.If you’re looking for an A-list record store experience, look no further. Grand Rapids is home to one of the finest music stores, I’m sure, in the country: Vertigo Music.

Vertigo is the friendliest record store in town! Theres a great selection of both used and new albums. The owner seems to never forget a face, has great taste and recommendations. Hes been very kind and discounted things when Ive been on a budget because he knew Id enjoy them. This is the only record store in GR that I feel loyal to, because I really feel loved there.

This place is the new quintessential record place. Nothing fancy, ever expense spared. But the staff live for music. If you went inside a movie and found the most music person to ever run an album cd DVD tape store you will find these guys. Their knowledge of music and bands is only matched for their love of it. You dont need a fancy building or atmosphere when they are the atmosphere. They can teach you educate you and enlighten you all at the same time. This place is good, but these peoples passion is what makes it great. And the rare finds here are plentiful and since the staff loves this stuff so much finding it is a snap because they already know where it is.

Very helpful staff. Everything you could ask for. Associate noticed a hat I was wearing and struck up conversation. Not music related. First time in awhile that I felt like Id had a personal interaction with a stranger. Felt better about the world, if only briefly.

Great selection and a personal touch that cant be beat. I always appreciate the selection and enjoy my time at Vertigo. It can be a year and still get greated by name and pointed to something I like. A few years ago Herm also spent almost 15 months searching for a CD for me a few years ago. Found a copy called me and then charged me $11. You dont forget service like that. I enjoy every visit.

Best record store on the planet imho. Owner is a cool and genuinely nice dude. Ive pretty much exclusively dealt with him and this awesome guy Jordan that works there. If you ever wanna hear some great rap/hip-hop/instrumentals, then Jordan is your guy. Pretty sure he works Sundays at the moment. Stop in and talk to him. Hes fantastic.

This is another pillar in the community when it comes to records shops. Vertigo and The Corner Record Shop are my go-to places for all vinyl needs. Vertigo is in a great location, theyve got a huge selection for a inner-city location, and the staff is always friendly and willing to help if needed. Definitely stop in and browse the selection next time youre in the neighborhood.

The best selection of unopened records in Michigan as far as I am aware. A deep selection of used records as well. Really solid experience every time I walk in. Their hardcore and electronic sections are really something special.

Were crazy helpful when buying a new record player from them. Even showed me how to adjust the counter-weight, something I was unaware of and would have taken me much longer to research had they not shown me, and included $50 worth of records with the purchase. Great selection of records, even if the layout/labeling of what is where could be better.Highly recommended.

Tons of great records, new and used from all different genres. They are always getting in new vinyl and playing good music. Great friendly customer service an authentic record shop experience. The shelves are fairly well organized by genres and in alphabetical order. Theres a bit of clutter and dust so dont expect it to be easy to navigate through this grungy wonderland, but its fun to dig through the $1 section and the boxes full of vinyl records under the more organized shelves to find a treasure.

I can always find the vinyl I need here! Best selection in west Michigan. Good mix of everything New, old, and used. The people that work here know their stuff! Plus can always find my Son a used movie. Been here many times and will keep on coming.

I visited two record stores, and this was the best by far. Things are well organized, its easy to browse through sections, and most importantly, prices are good. I was mainly in the jazz albums and they had a good variety to choose from, with some stuff underneath too (probably overstock). Very competitive prices, and the people all very chill. I would absolutely go back if I was in the area.
