I bought a 2003 Ford Explorer in auction during my move from Chicago. I’ve taken it to 4 places (2 in Chicago and 2 in Grand Rapids). Jeff and Amy were straight forward, flexible, and gave me the best price out of all 4 places. It was a solid experience and it’s close to the Sec. of State office. Jeff and Amy are great. Amy has taught me what is really needed for maintenance on my car, and Jeff doesnt do unnecessary repairs. Any other place would have charged me $300 or more the other day, and I paid $40. I really appreciate how he is like Gordy, the original owner/mechanic.

I have recently heard of G&D and from the first 2 minutes of being there I felt safe and sure that my vehicle was in the right hands. I was recently experiencing some whistling noises in my car, while the heat would be blowing. My mom goes to G&D for all of her car problems and recommended that I go there. Due to my working hours, and G&Ds hours being the same, it was hard to schedule a time convenient enough for me to bring my car in. After talking to Gordy, he offered to have me meet them at the shop early, before I had to be into work, and they would drive me to work on time, while they took the afternoon to look at my car and fix the problem. I was shocked at how generous he was with this offer. No other car mechanic has ever offered that to me before. He made me feel truly valued and tried helping me out the best he could. My mom has also gone to him with headlight bulbs needing to be replaced and he has done so, free of charge for her. My mom has also compared pricing between G&D and other car mechanics, and G&Ds prices are always at least a 50% savings from most other places. I will never go anywhere else for any car issues. Definitely some of the most honest people I have ever met.

After trying different local auto shops across Grand Rapids, and gave G & D Auto a try. Got to work with the new management, and was really happy with their service. They were able to resolve my car issues, and was done the same day. Being that new owners run the shop, and never got to work with the previous ones I am impressed. They are still working out a few bugs out from this post, but highly recommend this shop.

First shop Ive been to where the mechanic showed me the problem with my car without me having to ask first. It doesnt seem like a big deal but Ive had other shops try and sell me a service that my car didnt need and lost business when I caught them at it.I had my sway bar and linkage replaced here, scheduling and service was fast and prices were reasonable. I havent had any other work done here but I wouldnt hesitate to take my car back after a good first impression.

Please note that management has changed. Gordy no longer owns or works here and my experiences since the switch have not been as professional. Currently, Parker and Ashley work here and Parkers mother owns the place. I usually dont get reach anyone when I call during regular business hours and my messages arent returned in a timely manner if at all.Last repair at G&D auto:I had an exhaust repair done, but after a month, the issue returned. I brought it in again. While fixing for the second time under warranty, a bolt on the exhaust manifold sheared. Parker stayed late because I needed my car the next day. His wife Ashley drove me home while I waited for him to fix my car, and he picked me up after the repair was done. I thought that was very nice of them and really appreciated their efforts. However, when I returned to my car, I was not fully satisfied with the repair. He said that he could not remove the bolt that was sheared and that he instead did a weld to reduce the exhaust. There is still an exhaust leak though. I left because it was already early in the evening and I didnt want to keep him any longer. Since then I have called several times, but Parker and Ashley havent picked up the phone or returned my voicemail messages. Their kind-hearted gestures have been overshadowed by unprofessionalism, shown through poor communication. Im not doubting Parkers ability to repair vehicles. However, if he wants to succeed in this business, he needs to make a better effort to communicate with his customers. For that reason, Im finding another auto repair shop.

I have taken in 2 cars at 4 different times and am more then pleased with the service, cost, time, location and courtesy. Jeff takes time to listen and ask questions until he completely understands the problem. If I could give 100 stars I would.

I was recommended to go here for a wiring switch problem. They fixed the problem, but within 30 minutes of driving my car broke down on the freeway! I called them because it was suspicious that it broke down so close to when it was in their shop. Come to find out that it was their fault, the switch was to tight making me ride my brakes all the time. I called them to ask for reimbursment of the fix and he only said hed pay for the towing and not reimburse for the rest of the money I had to put out. So basically a simple fix ended up costing me a lot of money and no car for a week.
