I have been to more Sephora stores than just the Rivergate store. I have to say that this store was by far the best that I have visited. In addition to the very clean and organized store, the staff was excellent. I was in the store about 20 minutes, and I felt like I made two new friends by the time I left. No matter what distance, I will drive to this location every time. I recommend to everyone that needs a Sephora to go visit this one. You won’t be disappointed.

Please do not go to this store, I am still learning to apply make up. So I had couple of questions because before I spend a bomb I want to know if I am buying the right product. The worker was so rude and she had a terrible attitude. She did not pay much attention and she acted like she doesn’t care. Not everyone is an expert in make up and she was so judgmental with her answers.

I am editing my original review since this location has come under new management. She also brought in a whole new team and it couldnt be better! Elyssa is amazing and goes above and beyond everytime I visit the store, even if Im not shopping. I will follow her anywhere.

I called the store asking if they had one specific product in their inventory because I was planning on driving from an hour away. The sales associate assured me they had the product (rudely and matter-of-factly at that), but when I got to the store there was none of that particular product and the sales associate I met there was clueless and short with me as well. I would just avoid in general, there are others in the area with more knowledgable, aware, and polite employees along with a potentially better selection of products...

I’ve never had an issue with this location when I go in. Even when I just browse for some minutes I still receive friendly service from the girls . Sure they are low on some things but that’s just retail. The staff who work on the floor don’t have much control over that . I have wanted a product in the past before that they didn’t have in stock but an employee recommend somthing else that I actually ended up liking better.

I was racially profiled by what i assume is the manager “dawn” she was very rude & Unhelpful. Everyone else there is very nice. She wouldn’t let me exchange my fenty foundation that wasn’t color matched properly even though I had the gift card & reward account I paid with.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS LOCATION. every single time I go to spend good amount of money I get terrible service. No one ever offers to help me , I always get watched with my every move. Tonight I went in & asked if the fenty foundation was in stock the lady said does it look like it is & walked off . I will never spend another dollar here. GET IT TOGETHER OR FIND A NEW JOB.

I am HIGHLY upset with this place right now. Ive been a customer of Sephora for several years. Im even a VIB member. I came in the store tonight on - January 30, 2016, at 8:40pm to just get a couple of samples because I was wanted to try a new skin care product and I always try them out first before buying since I have sensitive skin. Anyways, I walked right on in and told a young female employee why I was there and needed some samples. She told me it would be just a moment. I looked around in the store and no one was there. I was the only customer. She continued to talk to the other female employee, as I stood there looking at her for almost 20 minutes. She wasnt doing anything but talking to the other employee. I am so mad. They both were literally not doing anything. And they close at 9pm, which it was 9pm when I walked out. Unbelievable. I have never been treated like this by a Sephora employee, also never ever have experienced such disrespect in customer service! I will be contacting corporate. This girl needs to be fired! I am so mad.

The employees were so sweet and helpful and even when I asked for cheaper recommendations they helped gladly and didnt judge or become rude about it. They were also so sweet and helpful to my teenage daughter.

I received a Sephora egift card from my husband earlier this year. I had never used them before & I had been holding on to it since there was an event I was attending 7/21 where I wanted to use it to get my makeup done. So, I called in the middle of June to set the appointment, but was told that I needed to call back within 2 weeks since they would need to see what the schedule looked like. However, when I called back today, they stated that I would have needed to call back at least 2 weeks PRIOR to setting the appointment. The girl I talked to still checked to see if she could get me in on 7/21, but her manager (the one who does the makeup) would be leaving at 4:45 PM that day. That did not work for me since I needed it done around 6 PM or later. I then called the gift card service line to see if I could get the money refunded back to my husband since I would no longer need it since I could not make the appointment for the time I needed. I was then notified that the gift card was non-refundable. I called back to the store to speak to a manager. The girl (who was the same one I spoke to earlier), said that the manager was not in, but that she could take down my info so she could call me back. I asked her when her manager would be in, and that is when she stated that she would not be in until Wednesday, two days from now - Good thing I asked b/c it seemed that she was not going to let me know that. I asked her if anything could be done & she stated that I could still get my makeup done, but around 4 PM (since her manager left at 4:45) but that is just what time her manager was scheduled to leave since she was the manager. I told her Ive done everything theyve asked me to do as far as calling to set the appointment. Then, the girl had the audacity to say, We told you to call at least 2 weeks prior, but instead you called a week out. I corrected her & told her they asked me to call within 2 weeks, which I did. I hung up from her & called corporate since all I want at this point is to refund the egift card. I explained the situation to the gentleman who picked up before he transferred me to a manager. I spoke to the manager, Leo, who, after explaining the situation AGAIN, he stated that the egift card could not be refunded & no one had the authority to do so. This is the most absurd thing Ive ever heard! He then proceeded in telling me that I could use the gift card online or in-store. I told him I would NOT be buying anything from Sephora & that this is the first & last time I will be using them. Normally, I use MAC which I will continue to use from this day forward. MAC has lovely products & great customer service.

I hate this place nobody helps. The lady at the counter was extremely slow. I went in for one item that they kept at the register. I waited in line for 30mins (all because the girl behind the reg. Was going extremely slow) just for them to tell me that they didn’t have it. I’ll never bring my services to this place again.

I have never been to sephora, my first time was oct.10th. My friend and I was shopping and decided to go check it out because her husband was going to be buying her make up for Christmas. We entered the store and was looking Around when we was greeted by Jessica who helped us match our foundation and showed us how to apply it properly and contour, she was so helpful! But as we asked how to do eyebrows she suggested the other consultant to help us with that, her name was Monica I believe... she was absolutely RUDE!!! We asked her when she approached us and treated us like we were ignorant and waisting her time. As we explained what we was looking for her response was (while rolling her eyes and scuffing) well I really dont know what you want but whatever. As she walked off while we were still explaining. Her body language said it all as well. So as me and my friend was sitting there I decided to proceed and check out my products and leave... I guess what really upset us was how she was so rude to us but when I went to go check out she was very nice to the other people in line.needless to say I wont be back to rivergate J.C. Penney sephora.

They gave me free samples of a lot of stuff I got free concealer but one thing I would not recommend buying is the sephora collection of eyeshadow pallets ( sunbleached filter eyeshadow pallet) wasnt very happy at all with that no color what so ever and no pigment but they also had great customer service and they greeted me when I came in and fast workers and fast check out AMAZING 😘

Very unimpressed with this store. The full story is below, but tl;dr the employees who work there dont seem properly trained for working at a high-end makeup store, they blame the customer for problems they encounter, the managers in turn blame their employees instead of trying to fix the problem, and they all seem poorly informed and give conflicting information. The selection is also picked-over, with many items out of stock -- maybe acceptable for a Dollar Tree, but not a luxury store. Sephora is letting their brand be tarnished by associating it with this level of customer service.I went there 2 days ago to spend a giftcard that was only good at a Penneys Sephora, not at a freestanding Sephora store. When I got there, the items that I wanted to get were sold out, even though they had been listed as available on the website using the locate in store feature. Their entire selection was very picked over, with many displays sitting empty and a large proportion of products out of stock. No one greeted me when I came in or offered help when I was clearly wandering around looking for something -- I had to track down an employee, and when I told her I had driven all the way there because the website said my items were in stock, she basically said it was my fault for not having called to ask. In that case, why have a locate in store feature on the website?The sales associate told me that since my items werent in the store, she could have them shipped to my house. I paid for the items with the giftcard and got a receipt. The next day the transaction was cancelled without my being notified. The manager I spoke to on the phone about this told me that its not possible to have out-of-stock items shipped to your house and pay for them with a giftcard, even though Sephora offers this service with all other payment methods. Why? And if thats the case, why did the transaction apparently go through the first time? The manager blamed this on the employee who rang me up. (If youre a store manager, the buck stops with you, not your employees.)When I told this manager that the store selection was poor and everything I wanted was sold out, she responded well, its the holidays. I dont find this level of service acceptable at a high-end makeup store that charges $30 for a lipstick. I have received conflicting information from every employee Ive talked to and encountered a If you dont like it, its your problem attitude, and been left unable to spend a giftcard that the gift-giver already paid in cash for! Ive been shopping at freestanding Sephora stores for 10 years and never had a problem or reason to complain. Id advise people to stay away from the ones inside Penneys, or at least this one. Unprofessionally run & unpleasant to shop in.
