They kept on fixing my breaks wrong and they took out my emergency parking break without telling me. I did not learn they took it out until a piece that they left in fell in my rotor

I have had three of my four cars serviced here in the last four years and though they have changed managers three times at least two of them have been honest. The present one is Carl and he is a proud Marine veteran who is as personable and professional as he is honest and knowledgable. He is adept at giving you honest news even when its not good to hear. Steve, one of his mechanics follows the leadership of Carl with his honest but personable approach. The shop is immaculately clean and orderly and as long as they are there I will come back . I have been there when at least two customers were disgruntled and on both occasions Carl and Steve handled it much more professionally than I would have. They dont cut corners and they have never tried to sell me something I didnt need. Thanks for bringing credibility to a business that often times lacks it.

Avoid this place at all costs..so many decent places in the area besides this one..I feel like they deliberately messed up my tire rotation (which they offered for free) to upsell more services..my car is shaking so bad its unbelievable. PLEASE BEWARE!

I always take my car here for its oil change. Had rear brakes done too today. I was expecting to be there 2 hours but was only there 1 1/2 hours. Eric was fabulous!

I recently moved to the area and although I had taken my vehicles to many local shops, I had not found a shop that I felt was fairly priced, professional and performed a high quality job. I found all three at Tuffy. My brakes were grinding and I had called three auto repair shops to get a quote on brakes before calling Tuffy and speaking with Steve. Tuffy’s price was best. I mentioned I could not get to the store that day until 4:30 and asked if they could do my brakes that late in the day. Given my experiences with other shops, I was surprised that Steve said they would take me for a brake job that late in the day. I even called back before heading to the shop to confirm they could do the job that day. Carl, the manager of the store, indicated they would need to inspect the vehicle to be sure parts were available for the job and to determine that they had enough time to compete the necessary repairs, but he would do his best to make the needed repairs that day. After the vehicle was inspected, Carl indicated they could complete the work that day and went over the work that needed to done. He also spoke about the parts that would be used for the repair job. He explained that the shop’s philosophy was to use higher quality parts that were fairly priced which reduced the number of returns the shop received. Carl was very professional and went over the shops vehicle inspection report with me and pointed out some other needed repairs. He was informative but did but pressure meto have any work done.I would also note that the shop is very well maintained. The waiting area and the shop itself are very clean which I feel is indicative of the quality of work that a shop does.Overall, I was very impressed with the shop and plan to take my vehicles there for future repairs. I highly recommend this shop for fairly priced, quality, car repairs.Tony-

Came to this shop after my check engine light came on and this was the closest shop in the area I was in. I was impressed with the friendly service and knowledgeable staff. The manager, Duke, helped explain the issue with my car and the options to fix the issue. He was very kind and patient with me as I asked many questions. They were also quick and had fair pricing compared to other shops I have been to. I received excellent service and will be returning there for my regular car maintenance.

I have been taking our cars here for years. It used to be Franchise owned...but it is now managed by the Tuffy Corporation......and even though I had no complaints before the change over...it is even better than before! Duke the Manager was awesome. Professional and concerned about giving me an amazing price to have my Heater Core replaced in my Chevy Van. I called around the Frankfort area and Tuffy gave the best price. I made a least 6 phone calls ...all were more money and several were double in price.The service area is very clean and everyone was very pleasant, when discussing my vehical. The only disappoint was I could not give 6 STARS for my experience. They gave me a ride back and delivered the Van when the work was completed. It is worth the time to check them out, the next time your car needs service. Also... I am not related to anyone nor personal friends at Tuffy or the Corporation..

Had a check engine light on and this place was near by. I was impressed with the manager Dukes explanation of the problem. He gave me a few options and I felt confident with him working on my car. I was later able to have my mechanic friend look at the car and he agreed with the with the diagnosis and work done. He said they charged me a fair price. It is good to know there are still competent and trust worthy people out there. I saw the previous negative reviews and was initially worried. Turns out the place is under new management and Duke is a gem. I wouldnt hesitate to go back there.

Last year I had some major repairs done to my car. Driving home the check engine light came back on and since Nov 2016 was getting a run around from Tuffy about getting it fixed and the service was horrible.May of 2017 a new Management team came on board and my experience has been simply phenomenal. I brought my car back in and the entire repair was done again correctly at no charge. They also took the time to fix a couple other problems and because I had such a bad experience in the past they took care of those for me as well. I got regular calls from them with updates on my repairs and they did a great job at keeping me up to date on how things were going. So awesome I did not have to be the person to call to get the updates.I cant say enough about the new management Team of Greg and Brian. Very ethical and trustworthy people. They treat you like you are a member of their family. Im not a car guy and always had a little insecurity about trusting mechanics, but with Greg and Brian I would have no problem trusting what they say. If you had a bad experience with Tuffy in the past or saw some negative reviews, I would definitely give them another try now that the new team is in place. Top notch!!

2015 Chevy Impala,Easy going and fast. They will fit you in for an oil change any day of the week, (if not the next)very friendly behind the desk and in the garage. If you dont understand what they are telling you they will happily show you. This is very nice as some places will not let you see the problem. They are very reasonably priced and they do a good job of detailing the bill, so you can see exactly what was done.

Glad to have an honest car mechanic. They will repair your car so fast and at most convenient rates. I am a satisfied customer and will continue coming here!

I have been a customer for years at Tuffy. When it was under the management of Mike service was terrible. Would wait for hours for a simple oil change. But now that its under new management, the service is great, 30 minuets for an oil change and i was out the door. I believe that Mike did not know much about cars or management. I would recommend Tuffy as a honest and reliable place to go now that mike is gone. And honest pricing.

I want to say how impressed I was with the service I received today. I purchased a new car a few months ago that the tire needed to replaced ( according to the Toyota dealer) I wasnt satisfied with the answer Toyota had given me. I contacted Tuffy Auto, who took the time to look at it. They found out that I didnt need a new tire but just a repair. They did such a good job finding the problem and fixing the tire. Brian and Greg were so awesome and such GREAT service. I am so thankful to such professionalism that I received. Highly recommend this location, they really know what they are doing. Awesome job!! Had to get my brakes changed. Without an appointment they took my car, changed the brakes front and back. And it didnt cost an arm and a leg. Strated driving and the brakes were good to go. Awesome.

Took our vehicle here for diagnostics. Told them not to proceed with repairs that we would call back. They decided to take into their own hands and move forward with the repair without approval. They proceeded to charge $300 for the tow and return even though we never authorized them to move forward. What a mess! So unprofessional. I will never bring a vehicle back to them. Ever!

We are more than happy with our choice to go to Tuffys. The customer service was beyond amazing. Greg and his wonderful, professional, knowledgeable, and polite staff where great to work with. Never did we feel that they where steering us in the wrong direction. They are honest hard working people and I would recommend this place to anyone. I went there for cheap oil change and get tire air pressure adjusted . They advertise rotation for free. They didnt rotate the tires which was OK, I asked to check air pressure they didnt but theirtech lied and said he did, he didnt. Then I get I home to check the oil and the dipstick is jammed so far into the tube I couldnt get it out, I had to pry it out with a pointy pick. He must have hit it with a hammer to get it in the tube so far... Go for the oil change, and dont believe anything they say. Check oil before leaving.

My son took his 2001 FORD Focus for a diagnostic check. Craig checked it out and told him he needed a complete rebuilt transmission to the tune of $3,500. It is a manual transmission and this made no sense to me. We took the car where we usually go Midas in Tinley Park and they quickly came the conclusion it was a bearing. The car is running great now. Complete repair at Midas was $290. Tuffy and Craig charged my son $199 for a TWO hour diagnostic. Really? $199. No labor was authorized and a bogus diagnostic. Really? Not done with you. Either we come to terms (reimburse at least $100) or Better Business Bureau is next. If you go to Tuffy steer clear of Craig.......

Never do I want to hear that my car, after I just spent 2800, needs a rack and pinion for another grand. Good thing that comes with an alignment. Oh, and I need tires. Ugh!!! I tried to get financing, and they only gave me $400. So.....maybe some other time.

If I could give this place zero or negative stars I would! I went in for an oil change Saturday. Sunday, my check engine light comes on and I smell burning oil. I popped my hood and found that they had LEFT MY OIL CAP COMPLETELY OFF! I now have at least a half quart of oil spewed all over my engine compartment and now that my sensors are drenched in oil, the scan from auto zone shows my check engine light is for bad sensors. Im going back in tomorrow and they better clean my engine compartment and all the components and fix whatever ones need to be replaced due to their COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE! seriously, what kind of IDIOT leaves the oil cap completely off? I have a picture that I took immediately after opening the hood where you can see the cap is off, and up by my windshield wipers under my hood. Completely disgusted by these guys!

Wish I could leave zero stars for this place. I had gotten a Groupon for an oil change from this place. Cool right? Well I drove in one day after work around 4pm and asked if they had any openings, the gentleman said no they are pretty busy, no problem. So I scheduled an appointment with this man for the following day at 4pm. Next day rolls around Im heading that way once again. I go in and talk to some other older gentleman. Told him I have an appointment for 4pm, its 355pm. He tells me someone should have called me and told me that they would not be able to get to my car today because they are backed up. Annoyed me a bit, but hey mistakes happen. The man then says how about Friday, I of course say sure same time He said yes, Ill make sure it gets done for you. So Friday 350pm comes around and Im driving home from work once again. I decide Im going to call this time instead of showing up to see if its still good. Remind you its 350pm. If they where not going to do it I should have received a call by then, but no! The man on the phone tells me once again that they are busy and they can reschedule me for another day. Yeah no thank you. You are a waste of time!

Ive been here several times over the past few years. The prior management was gritty, sarcastic, old school auto mechanic sort of attitude. I personally didnt mind it, but I get the bad reviews from that time. Things are much different now. There is a different manager, I guess he is returning after some health issues. Anyhow, hes a very friendly guy who discusses your car issues with you to get the full story of your car issues. The whole shop environment is different, and I recommend Tuffy.

Do Not Use This Place. I was in a pinch and my normal mechanic could not do an oil change for me so I went here because Ive used them in the past. There only concern was to try to up-sell me on additional work that needed to be done. I declined there additional work and took it to my normal mechanic. My normal mechanic looked at there work suggested and was agreed that some work needed to be done. Tuffy was going to charge me over $1,000 that he did for $175, but thats not the biggest problem. My mechanic thought he was also doing an oil change and thankfully he started it. Tuffys overfilled my oil so much that he had major spillage from opening the oil reserve and drained an additional 2 milk gallon worth of oil. When I went back to Tuffys to complain it took over a month for them to compensate me for the inconvenience. Management there is not paying attention to what workers are doing over there and they just want to try to up-sell you on overpriced repairs. Beware.

Under new management and they are great! I took a 1992 ford f350 diesel long story short there was a guy by the name of Mike .. He lied and over charges me on work put in to a bad motor.. the new manager Greg found out and he credit me my entire bill and helped me put in a new motor! With that said i recomend this place to every1 as it did a 100% turn around

I have been a customer of Tuffys for 10 years. There were a lot of concerns with the previous owners and the way the business was handled. The recent change in ownership to Greg has improved the customer service immensely. I appreciated that during my routine oil change the technician, Nico, told me how bad my break pads were. He showed me my front pads and how it was almost down to the metal. He fixed my front pads that day and I went back a few days later for the back pads. I appreciated having him show me the pads and educating me about break pads. Much improved service and am glad to have Greg back in the ownership position. He is right-ing all the wrong doings from the previous owner. If you went to Tuffy before the ownership change and dont want to go back, please give them another shot. You wont be disappointed.

Had a brake caliber freeze up on a Saturday. He had me fixed up and running by Monday morning at 830! Phenomenally fast service, and helpful staff!!!

Went back to Tuffys for the 1st time in a couple of year and was impressed with new management. Greg is very knowledgable about cars and gave me some great advice. Glad to have a true car guy local.

I was changing oil in my Ford Fusion today and rounded off the drain plug. (I know, who still changes the oil in their own cars now a days) I put a vice grip on it and proceeded to really screw it up. I gave Mike a call to see if he could get me out of a jam. It was real close to closing time, but he said to bring it in and they would see if it could be removed. Ten minutes later - all fixed. (Thanks-Jesse) He even gave me a discount. Good people.

This place is sucks how he got negative post removed??? A crook in action here. Damage control is what he does best on this blog.........Call me back to discuss and talk about it???? Yea right..I heard fleet managers have bailed cause this place sucks so bad.

Biggest rip off place ever.. been there for a simple oil change tried to charge me $89 because my car needed synthetic oil, after I said no thank you Ill do it myself I walked out for then a other customer to come out and stop me. The customer overheard my conversation with the Desk clerk and told me they tried to rip me off bc his own car he brought in needed the Same oil and only got charged $45 they tried to overcharge me with almost double. Be aware of these scammers and just go take your business somewhere else bc you will pay wayyyyyy more then you need to, life is already expensive enough without these aholes trying to rip off hard earned money!!

Might be the rudest jerk I have ever talked to in the auto industry. Cant imagine someone letting somebody like this answer the phone and talk to customers. When he didnt have a price for labor, to replace a stinking brake light switch, I told him that it doesnt even require tools, and he suggested I change it myself. Hes lucky I wasnt in the store.

Diffently the worst place I have been to nothing but cons here anyone who wants to be robbed can go here. They are liars and thiefs. Do work with out authorization. Then expect you to pay. I had a bad experience here a couple of years ago but figured I would try them again because they were under new management, but nope same type of service.

I had my fiancé go there in Aug 2015 for a simple oil change. Discount flyer.. She left with a diagnosis of a lot more than she would ever expect. The owner Mike had told her that her brakes were bad and need to be changed NOW. not now or as soon as possible. NOW was his diagnosis which mind you Mike is not the technician he was the ring out person. He explained that the brakes were in such bad shape and told the they do that service there.$$$My resolution I had replaced her brakes in Jan 2015. rotors and pads all the way around. So to prove they are misinforming their clients I went to PEP Boys for a free inspection and requested the Measurements compared to specks. Well I called Mike the owner of that Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center 20250 South La Grange Road, Frankfort, IL and explained that because of his misinformation to me Fiancé I had wasted 3 hours of my time and mind you the fright my Fiancé had for two days that her brakes were bad. Result was the brakes had more than half there life span left and Mike insisted he did not tell her NOW he said the paperwork said it should be inspected. THEY ARE ON NOTICE. Please get a second opinion it will save you hundreds.
