Terrible, just terrible. I used 1st performance two years ago for a bottom job. They werent very informative of which paint we should use. We told them that we were going to move the boat to the west coast by trailer, and they recommended a paint that wouldnt hold up if we took the boat out of the water. 6 months later we had to pay to have the bottom re-done. We ended up moving the boat back to the east coast a couple of months ago. We asked around to trusted friends on who we should use to to the bottom this time. They suggested 1st Performance. We were hesitant, but figured maybe our first experience was a fluke. It wasnt. We were quoted certain prices over the phone for the work we knew had to happen. Then they kept calling and telling us other things had failed, that worked when we left the boat with them, while they had it. On the way to pick the boat up, we got a last minute phone call with another problem. The A/C pump had miraculously failed at the last second. We told them not to touch it because at this point, we had our doubly to the validity to any of their claims. When we arrived I went in and got our bill. It was 3 thousand dollars higher than anything we had discussed and now our previous working A/C didnt work anymore. They were extremely rude and held us hostage until we wired them money to release our boat. Fool me once, shame on them. Fool me twice, shame on me.

This is truly one of the most professional boat yards I have worked with. The staff I can’t say enough about!! As a US Marine honesty and honor are hard to find these days but Mike , Bobby and the staff reflect these qualities in everything they do. Thank you for all the work you did on my 53 voyager carver.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNETHICAL SHADY BUSINESS! I was referred to First Performance Marina from a friend and I really wanted to like this company because it was conveniently located on the water. I live on the intracoastal and the boat requires bottom paint every year or two so they WOULD have gotten a lot of business from me. However, I had the worst experience here and their owner Bobby Banister should be ashamed of his staff if he knew how awful I was treated. I initially got a quote for bottom paint for $600-$750 since it had already been bottom painted in the past and just needed a new coat. Amy was a sweetheart on the phone and provided great customer service but I never spoke with her in person. Since the boat needed to be out of the water for the paint, I figured it would be convenient for them to install my new transducer and GPS unit at the same time. I dropped off the unit with the boat but called two different times to get a quote on this but they kept saying someone would call me back. A week later, they said it was ready and I went to pick up my boat last Friday at 3pm. I was disappointed there was a large hole that they made to the left of my Garmin screen and they installed the unit without my approval or without a price quote. I figured it would be about $750 for the paint and $300 for the transducer that I purchased separately and unit installation but I was shocked to see my bill at $2574! I couldnt believe how they would try to nickel and dime someone so much and wanted an explanation from Mark as to why it was over double of what I thought it would be. Mark couldnt even justify how my bill was so expensive so he brought it down to $1720. At this time, I was upset but just wanted my boat back. I brought out my debit card to pay and they said I would have to speak with Joellen from their accounting department because they wanted cash instead. They never once mentioned that I needed to pay cash, nor did my friend have to pay cash when he had work done a month prior. Joellen was extremely rude and is a terrible person. She said she was worried I would do a charge back even though I never once mentioned that and I offered to pay with a debit card or a check and that was impossible to charge back. She said in a very bitter voice that If I wanted my boat back I would have to come back with $1720 cash on Monday and proceeded to lock the door behind me early before they closed. I had no other choice but to come back with $1720 cash and now I am stuck with an ugly hole in my helm and a grudge against this establishment. Unless something is done from their owner Bobby to make this right, I will make it my mission to expose them as fraudulent crooks to everyone I know.

Was absolutely satisfied from my first quote from Amy (great phone presence and very customer friendly) to meeting Bob and discussing what I needed to complete my boat and have it shipped North. Bob even provided photos of the progress they were making on my boat. I never felt pressured and they went above and beyond my expectations. The checkout process was easy and even lower than what I was quoted. I’m sorry I don’t remember the nice lady who took my money but she was very motherly and made me feel that she really cared. A giant thank you to all at First Performance Marina employees.

The owners and their staff are awesome. It can be difficult to find a marina with a lift. They have a great lift and can do any work on your boat or yacht. Bobby, Victoria, Jo Ellen, Amy and Mike will take good care of you and your vessel.

Cruising from Canada and visiting Fort Lauderdale. Needed a reference to get my dinghy lift welded and my engine coolant tank welded. Two different issues. The references were A1 and these guys and girls were super nice. The references were professional and performed the work within hours to get me Serviceable again. Thanks

Seems there is a theme with this establishment luring you in with a reasonable estimate, and then when you pick up your boat, they inflate the charge three-fold. Caveat emptor. If you decide to do business with this company, you might want to record a video of your receipt of the estimate along with the associated conversation, as it seems this might be good evidence for a lawsuit necessary to dispute inflated charges demanded before releasing your boat. Run away.

Found another great marina!!! Needed to have the steel tanks replaced in my 1984 Sundowner Tug. Did extensive research in the best place without knowing Ft Lauderdale. Check their reviews and independent recommendations then spoke to Bob the GM. It was never just his way... gave me insight, options AND with his many years of knowledge to make a decision. What great people!! They did an outstanding job. Cleaned everything up each day and at the end of the job. There wasnt anything I had to finish when they were done.I left room to see if they would take advantage of me.... they NEVER did!!! They even saved me a couple thousand dollars!!! Integrity, Honesty and they took Pride in their workmanship. The office staff were great to deal with, friendly and helped me out when they really didnt have to. Their Techs have been there a minimum 10+ years. Everyone was helpfully regarding anything on the boat.I even had a electrical problem that had nothing to do with the work they performed, they were more concerned about my boat running properly before I left than the dock space I sat at!!Highly recommend them for ALL boat needs! Wonderful people.. Def made new friends I can trust and Im in the Keys! Many thank Bob and Crew!!!

September 2015Competent service! Excellent value to cost ratio! Delivering yachts of all kinds all over the world, we occasionally encounter marine facilities that are less than reasonable (Expressed mildly). This is especially true for those vessels which are passing through. Therefore, I have become critical and extremely cautious with whom I do business. After a short chat, I knew the yachts owner would receive value for his money spent. Called it correctly this time. First Performance should be your First Choice for marine service in Ft Luderdale. Their facilities are modest, sufficient, and efficient. One of the best yacht repair experiences in my 30 plus years in this industry. The entire staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We were greeted by everyone with an enquiry of how we were doing as well as Hows the boat doing? We actually enjoyed our down time spent at their docks. See Mike. He gets it done.

No others words RIPPED OFF by this company. I did not do my due diligence before I let this company work on my boat. its the same theme they utilize bait and switch. what you see for prices on their website and also what they tell you will not be your invoice. there will try and not let you pay by credit card and RED stamp your invoice with a cash only or wire only payment option. my bill was triple the price from the quote. they even charged me for their work materials, masks, gloves, etc youve been warned do not do business with this company

A great experience. I recently brought a boat in Ft Lauderdale, and while awaiting transport 1st Performance fixed almost all of the punch list at a very competitive price while prepping the boat for shipment. What impressed me most was what they didnt want to handle. There remains a somewhat complicated electrical issue that they felt was best handled by someone local to me as they wouldnt be there for any potential follow up work. This says a lot about their character. Kudos to Mike Bonga and the rest of the crew.

If you know boats then you know how long it takes to change 4 exterior zincs. If you like being charged 1 1/4 hours for this then this is your place. I dropped off my boat and within 30 minutes after pulling it out of the water they were about 80 percent done with the bottom scrapping. When I came to pick it up they magically wrote that It took them 10 hours to finish. I never noticed that there was a big stamp in the top right corner than says “cash only”. I asked the owner to please process a credit card and he agreed to do so. When we went to the office the lady behind the desk said no because I was already complaining about being gouged on the hours. This place is another typical south Florida rip off joint / give a low estimate to get you in then hit you with an excessive bill at check out
