I searched several facilities and reviews before coming across Compass. They had a 4.9 star rating on google and they lived up to it. I spoke with Leanne over the phone and she was ready for me when I got in. She informed me of all the options I could go with to help suit my needs, took me on a tour, and was super friendly. I was set up with an optimal unit for my storage needs and insurance. The units at this facility are secure, organized, and very clean and up to date on the inside. I would recommend this business to anyone in need of short or long term storage.

Grounds and storage space are immaculate. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Well-secured. Our area was recently flooded, and it was clear this property is well above the flood plain and remained dry. Highly recommend.

I rarely write a review however I felt the need to do so in this case so future customers don´t have the trouble we had. Prior to the day we needed a large storage unit I called Compass Self Storage, East Lansing, MI twice asking about reserving a unit. I was told I could fill out the paper work upon arrival. I asked about leaving a visa number to hold the unit and was told it was not necessary. We selected this particular company because of the reviews and they had Sunday hours, the only self storage company in the area with Sunday hours. While in transit I called just to make sure things would go smoothly and give them an exact time to expect us so the paper work would be ready. Guess what, no units were available. I was never told they work on a first come first serve basis. I was assured a unit would be available. Of course, they have no record of my two prior phone calls. Just beware.

The overall Manager was there subbing when I first came in and she did a complete job of explaining the storage options. I came back the next day and spoke with the woman in charge of the facility. She knew who I was, had the information, put the lease together for me and I was taken care of. My only concern was that the main entry door was broken for the first two days and stuck open which was not a good sign for a climate controlled unit. The third day it was fixed though and all has been fine since then. I like the unit and it is as advertised.

Very quick and easy to get a storage unit. Literally took about 20 min from time I showed up to time I had a unit. The costs are very reasonable and it is located in a part of town that is not busy and easy to get in and out of. I would recommend to friends and family if they needed a storage unit.

Compass is by far the most customer friendly self storage facility in this area. Kristen who works the small office at the entrance is very kind and helpful. I should also mention that I went here during Covid-19, and she handled all the processes very smoothly while still respecting and practicing the social distancing guidelines, which I appreciate very much. Really nice lady who works there, she explained everything clearly and gave us the nice hand truck when we rented one to move my things. Even though the lockers aren’t tempreuter controlled they don’t get to hot in the summer. They also have u-halls you can rent and will let you park your car their if you need to when renting the u-hall.
