The Gathering isnt just a coffee shop, its a place that welcomes and integrates you into itself. Its warm and familiar and friendly. People talk about how its a business thats also concerned with community; you get that sense with how staff interact with you.But it also is still a coffee shop. And they are quite good at coffee too. Well-roasted and sharp in flavor. They make very intriguing coffee cocktails (non-alcoholic) too.Theres an unusually high concentration of (very good) coffee shops pretty close to New Center - but the combination of both the coffee and the space in which that coffee is consumed makes Gathering my favorite of all of them.

I got the caramel latte and my brother got the vanilla latte, both were delicious! The coffee is very strong and delicious. 8/10 coffee, would come again.

Caitlyn and Sydney were very kind and welcoming. Atmosphere is perfect for calm vibes working or just staring out large windows. Coffee is okay, using Populace as a supplier. Pastries are great! Like the logo, art work, and minimalist/industrial design.

I Loved the vibes here. Stayed nearby and came in twice. Really beautiful interior and the barista was very cool.

I consider this to be the ultimate safe space for anyone and everyone. Their message is acceptance & love, and of course, great coffee! Beautifully decorated, great attention to detail, simplistic menu, amazing coffee and delicious treats!! Our new favorite spot in Detroit. Will have to buy a shirt next time.

This has to be some of the best coffee I have had in the area. I highly recommend trying the Bee Sting of you like trying something different.The atmosphere on the inside is great, perfect if you need the background noise of a coffee shop to study. There is a selection of amazing pastries as well.

I never write reviews, and I am rather picky on coffee shops; but I absolutely adore this coffee shop. The vibes here are awesome, and not only is it a very homey atmosphere, but the barista who owns it is awesome as well! I almost forgot to add, their iced chai is the best!!

This coffee shop is incredible. They have some really great unique drinks that taste so good and they do an amazing job on the standard drinks youd expect like lattes, pour overs, and so on. The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting and you will feel loved and like you belong here because you do and are loved by the staff. Come check this place out and make it your new coffee shop to go to. Plus Emily (the owner) is one of the most loving, powerful, and creative people I know.

I am in love with this coffee shop. The entire concept is well-thought out and skillfully executed. The owner has met with multiple community leaders to really survey they cultural perspective of Detroit. The coffee is delicious and the pumpkin bread is to die for. I will be returning soon and they have a beautiful community farm nearby to visit on the way out.

It is December 2020. Ive had a lot of coffee this year. This coffee shops drip coffee is the best Ive had all year, which includes my own. Extremely friendly owner and an awesome atmosphere. Ill continue to support this place as long as Im in Detroit. Support local!

This coffee shop opened this year and has become my favorite place to study and grab a coffee. The environment is perfect for students, good tables, fast wifi, and not too loud. Owner is great and the coffee is easily the best in the area.

Service is just amazing. Coffee is fantastic. Space is so cozy. Will keep going back.

So many great things to say about this café.Walking in, your first impression is a warm welcome, calming asthetic and clean. No unnecessary clutter. Beautifully decorated. A fantastic amount of natural light, tasteful decor and well placed seating. The music playing fit perfectly with the atmosphere and I could see this being a place where I could feel inspired as a creative thinker.The menu is realistic and modest* and can fit anyones taste, whether you prefer coffee, tea or a decaffeinated option.The owner was warm and cheerful and happy to help me figure out what I would like, as well as another barista there named Caitlin.I ordered the Right Up To The Moon specialty drink and it was delicious! Sweet but not too sweet, perfect temperature and I love that I didnt have to worry about my dairy sensitivity. I look forward to trying more of their drinks in the near future! The apple cider is next on my list. And to make things even better, there was an array of pastries and tasty tidbits that looked soooo good. Ill be trying those next time too!For the afternoon, there were around 5 people hanging out, either visiting with a friend or studying. I found that encouraging for such a newly opened business. I can tell they are very focused on their mission as a business to gather people together and not do life alone. I think they will be very successful and I look forward to watching them grow.I will be supporting them by wearing my unbelievably comfortable branded tshirt and following/sharing their social media.I definitely recommend visiting here and sharing it with your friends.Thank you for the great experience!*vast amounts of choices simply make it harder to decide what to get.
